FWIW when I increased my checking to try and act as more of a two-way forward my hits did go up. My PIM did to as you say but not as dramatically as my hits did I would say. I think it’s just a natural thing, hitting more means that more of those hits are bound to be penalties. I don’t think it’s always the case to assume checking = PIM though.

Yeah, I’m not sure what happened there. My guess is a few mistakenly took the 30 + carryover and it just kinda stuck. Honestly I’d prefer either just saying carryover is limited to 50 (just a nicer number) with everyone getting the starting 30 or have it as originally intended with starting 30 being for first gens and carryover being for re-creates. Maybe with a grace period of sorts that when re-creating you can take whichever is higher which would allow for people to at minimum start with 30.

I mean with my build I would expect goals not assists but I won’t complain about 4 points.

Forgot I can’t group mention in an edit @VHLM GM if anyone is missing from your rosters let me know now. Players added after the index dropped are likely not in your lines but they should be on your roster. If not let me know immediately. There’s a lot of roster changes early on so some may have been missed.

Most likely you were added to the roster after the index was released and therefore you need to be added to the lines.

Oh it most definitely hates me. Any time I have a good player it has to screw me some way (such as Holik being worthless in the playoffs) or it just decides to randomly give me giant chunks where I’m worthless such as my 15 game pointless streak last season.

I guess then the argument becomes what’s the point of making them an option? If everyone can have something they could just have it. Plus there’s @Victor‘a argument. Anyway, my point is I remain on the fence. I always like it in theory but like it less the more I think about it. If we continue to have big first gen drafts consistently I feel less scared mind you.

I don’t think different eras would matter for something like this to go through. More so just that it could be an interesting project to look at if someone felt inclined. Once the books are sealed it wouldn’t have to be updated post creation so it might be interesting to see on say a 2-3 career length (so every 16-24 seasons). 1-17 would be the only tough ones but the current record books would probably offer enough incite for those.

That’s fine to say (though I’m confused by the 80% figure, do you mean over a full career?) with a CPU backup but more and more teams have human backups. So those backups without this rule could theoretically be playing 0 games. How’s that fair or reasonable?

Honestly I don’t even hate them I’m just torn on the idea that not everyone gets them. Can’t decide precisely where I sit on the fence.

I never said we don’t like the records. That’s our history. For some of us it’s nearly 12 years of history. I’m not in favour of destroying that. However to say it will never happen because of the records is being a little ridiculous. I don’t think anyone would be opposed to sealing off the old record books (or even creating fresh ones for different generations which would be interesting) and starting new ones with a change this major.

You constantly bring that up and yet those of us that have been around for long enough to care constantly say we’re fine with sealing off the record books and just having 2 sets. No one is turning something like this down purely because of records.

You and your bloody longer careers

I don’t remember the exact season but it definitely happened. Was one of my seasons with Holik in Seattle. Went down 3-0 and pushed it to a game 7 but lost. Considering that would involve a 3-1 at some point it would show up in your spreadsheet so my guess is S53 but I don’t care enough to go check and don’t want to re-live that heartbreak.
