  1. This is unfortunately going to need to be voided. Because the draft happens before FA opens there’s no clean way to handle that condition outside of the player simply signing with Davos before FA which we can’t force. For the sake of making sure the draft can run cleanly without these picks being a mess voiding is the safest solution. Stop making your conditions so messy @Alex @Banackock
  2. 1 per season baby!
  3. Why do I do this to myself….
  4. I assume he meant there’s no specific fighter like there is for 7 and 8.
  5. Top 10, a lot better than usual haha
  6. Initially we wanted the hit heavy so we didn’t add a fighter. Making the hits stronger and still not adding one though may have swung the pendulum too far the other way. To be fair I can’t speak for the others but I’m garbage at getting uncapped so “hasn’t missed TPE” is just the capped stuff, that’s actually a lot less than most. I also did have the opportunity to skip it and could have but chose to stay down not because it avoided any depreciation hit or whatever but because I wanted an experience I had never had in the VHL, something that is quite rare after 15 years. It may be shocking but not every decision is entirely TPE based.
  7. Can I just say I still find it hilarious that’s the actual name of the award haha
  8. God damnit, I’m gonna have to make at least 2 new cup banners this season…
  9. TBH that's on me for not explaining things well. I was profoundly overtired last night / this morning and woke up to shit on fire so did not really explain things properly. Massive props to @Alex for requesting the clarification.
  10. So time to expand I guess? /s
  11. Welcome to the VHL, bigboy420! We're happy to have you. You should have received a PM with some more detailed information, but to get started quickly you will want to head over to the "How to Create a Player" topic. That topic will offer you detailed information about how to use the VHL Portal to create your player and get you started. We also highly recommend joining the VHL Discord where there is a channel dedicated to helping new members with any questions that they may have about the league or improving their player. Once your player is made VHLM General Managers will be in touch with you about joining their teams. In the meantime, please feel free to ask any questions you have here or in your create-a-player thread. We're happy to have you in the community and we hope you stick around!

  15. One of the many reasons I have never wanted the job. I’d rather just punish rule breakers than be one.
  16. Might wanna read the rest of he spirit of competition rule that I didn’t quote
  17. That is 110% not a rule. Everyone in the lottery has a chance at 1OA, that’s what the odds are, the chance of first overall pick. The only other rule associated with it is that you can’t drop more than 1 spot from your initial position. As I said above, positioning is not changing, I should have made that more clear but there was a bit of confusion and I’m tired and overworked. The odds are changing but the amount they can drop remains the same.
  18. I believe that to be the intention, sorry I didn’t make that more clear earlier. It’s been a crazy evening and morning. Need to confirm that’s how the portal will treat it but yes, this is just first overall odds. Much like how the lotto tournament worked your placement in the lotto doesn’t change, just the odds of winning it. So Warsaw still can only drop to 2nd and Calgary to 4th. Precedent needs to change because honestly it’s every single season at this point so clearly leniency isn’t working. Additionally in the case of LA that you mention there were outside circumstances with the GM that had to be considered. At the end of the day we don’t like handing out punishments nor do we like arguing about them but the fact is that the rules exist and people need to start actually following them. Is every future game over 8 going to result in a punishment? Probably not, but there has to be a limit to the leniency.
  19. I also just want to make something perfectly clear. This isn’t a COC violation where appeals and “first time offender” are really a thing. League rule offences work differently. People don’t get to appeal Louth rule punishments for example. Hell we’ve let it go so often in the past that I doubt any current GM is even a first time offender anymore, we just don’t have the records to back that up. It has happened every season, enough is enough and the rules have to matter.
  20. Having a weak starter doesn’t excuse doubling the bot games and breaking the clearly defined rules. It’s also just anecdotal that the bit was “better” because he won. Bots frequently get wins from playing against worst teams, it happens. The stats of the bot in question aren’t really a matter to be considered, it becomes too subjective. Additionally human goalies never count against this, Warsaw could have picked up a human goalie and played them as much as they wanted and it would have been fine. Some teams had over 8 backup starts, that’s fine, it’s extra bit games that are the issue. As for the 5 draft spots, I blame math. The original idea was actually to drop Warsaw 2 spots and Calgary 1 while not touching the odds. I think we were working with old odds at the time so it would have maybe been different but based on that it would have given NY 7.5% better odds and Moscow 10% better odds while Malmo and Chicago got the shaft. It felt unfair to “benefit” 2 teams while the other 2 in the lottery just remained exactly the same. Doing it this way I’ll admit dropped them more than we maybe had in mind but it “benefits” everyone else evenly and fairly. Warsaw still have a shot at first overall, it’s just a worse shot than before. I get that punishments are gonna suck but obviously if we make them so weak there’s no reason for a GM to bother. It’s like the Louth rule, if we just say “you like 250k cap” or whatever and the “reward” is getting into the playoffs with a few extra wins that’s what’s gonna happen.
  21. We’re unfair AND lazy, I do always love that combination. You’re considering this in a bubble as you’re considering only the how and why for Calgary. 2 teams were being punished, the severity needed to differ but the method being completely different doesn’t really fly and what you suggest wouldn’t have really been possible at all with Warsaw, let alone reasonable. It’s not about saying “every bot game must automatically be a loss” so we aren’t assuming that. At the end of the day all the GM’s were tagged at the deadline, Calgary saw they were done, they saw the rule discussion, and then added more games anyway. Warsaw was already too far gone to be saved at that point but there’s a reason they are punished more harshly. 10 and 3 doesn’t math, gotta be numbers that can be spread out to 4 teams since it has to equal 100%, we can’t just remove the odds from the equation. 10 and 2 would have I guess worked but let’s be honest, the specific numbers were never going to be what people complained about. Can’t wait for Calgary to win the lottery anyway and all this to be pointless. I love waking up to drama fires.
  22. It's weird to be pulling this one out but here we are. This rule has been in place for a number of seasons now and despite it being brought up to us a lot since it's creation (like literally any time a team starts a CPU 9 times...) I don't know if we've handed out a punishment for it since it's creation. However we do expect our GM's to do their jobs and follow the rules and we can't be constantly making excuses for them not doing so. Obviously life happens and sometimes you have an extra bot start or two but we saw some cases this year that we just need to address. For that reason, the draft lottery odds are being adjusted as a form of punishment for Warsaw ( @N0HBDY ) who played their bot goalie 8 extra times and Calgary ( @Ricer13 ) who played their bot goalie 3 extra times. In order to keep things fair to the other teams in the lottery (and not give an advantage to some over the others) we have decided that Warsaw will lose 15% odds of first overall pick and Calgary will lose 5%. This 20% will then be re-distributed as 5% each to the remaining teams in the lottery. That means the lottery odds this season are as follows: 1. New York - 25.0% 2. Moscow - 20.0% 3. Malmo - 17.5% 4. Chicago - 15.0% 5. Calgary - 12.5% 6. Warsaw - 10.0% It is the hope of the league that this will be a one time occurrence and that it was simply a mistake on the part of the GM's rather than malicious tanking and no further adjustments to the rules will be made at this time so please don't prove us wrong and have to make this a seasonal thing that we punish more harshly. - @Commissioner
  23. Technically a reverse sweep would require a team to be down 3-0 which no one was.
  24. This. The yes is fun but man do all the no’s suck. I’ve only done it a few times and kinda end up feeling horrible after each one. But then again it’s a good experience to have.
