STHS handles the playoffs very randomly. We will consider having them involved in the decision but I cannot guarantee they ever will be. This season a lot of weight was put there because a lot of moves were made and teams went from being bottom feeders to being top end. That doesn't mean every season goes that way. In fact more often than not it doesn't because it's rare for a GM to manage something like that. That's how it feels like that to you this season because it happened that way to your GM; that's all it is. Let's say the situations are swapped and Frank got 8 votes with Hedgehog getting none. Riga players would feel that the voting unfairly favours drafting and keeping players long term than it does making moves. Every season is different and has different considerations. Take Riga out of the equation and Frank likely would have gotten votes. Frank could have been 2nd choice for literally every BOG member and he won't get any votes registered. No one is saying he didn't do well, he just wasn't the best choice this year.

1. There was a mistake made with the voting topic and Top D was missed in the vote. Not everyone saw the new topic which is why there were so few votes on it. It's annoying and it won't happen again but it has no bearing on top GM in any way. I don't see a reason to bring it up. 2. Possible changes to the award voting is being brought up. We'll consider whether playoffs should be a factor. As I stated above though, right now they are not so nothing will be changed by arguing about whether Frank deserved it or not right now. 3. As we said, top GM is not solely decided on moves and Hedgehog isn't necessarily out of the running if he doesn't make any; same as any other GM isn't. Just because another GM had a better season than Frank in the vote's opinion does not mean we don't recognize what Frank did. This has much less to do with what Frank did and much more to do with what Hedgehog did. Situations change every single season so each vote takes slightly different things into account. This season it happened to be moves because of how many were made. Next season maybe no one makes any trades so we take other things into consideration. 4. Once again, this is unrelated to the vote in question. I'm sorry it happened but bringing it up in this discussion doesn't serve any purpose.

Not true at all. Just that when another team's GM makes huge moves and goes from 8th to 1st it makes a pretty big splash. It's not that what Frank did can never be considered for the award. It can and has before. It's just that this season there was a better candidate.

I need to sleep more apparently, having the same free agents two years running is messing with my head haha. Doesn't help that I'm paranoid I put people on the list that shouldn't be there. Carry on...nothing to see here. *sneaks out the door*

Could you point out where that was accepted? There's nothing in the S57 contracts and the only offer he accepted in S56 was a 1 year deal.

How is it wrong? We could wait until the playoffs are done to start the discussion which would just make awards take longer to come out or we could do all the awards but playoff MVP in advance and just need to discuss 1 award and then vote on it. At the end of the day it's a regular season award. If you disagree with that fact then fine, maybe we can look at it in the future. But the fact is that this season (and every season in the league) had it voted on as a regular season award. How well you did in the playoffs holds no bearing whatsoever because that's not what the award is about. If it were then the winning GM would simply take it 95% of the time. What would happen, for example, if a GM left and someone else came in and took control of a team that was already setup to win the cup. When they inevitably do does that GM deserve the top GM award because they won the cup? I know it's an extreme example but it's possible to have it happen. It makes more sense to remove the playoffs from the equation since they can be so random and have so few games. How a GM handles the regular season is far more telling. This season a team went from 8th to 1st; that's top GM worthy. Quebec went from 3rd last year to tied for 2nd this year. I'm not saying Frank didn't do a great job with the team, but it's no surprise that they did well either. He could have done nothing and likely received the same result. Anyway, no point arguing about this. As people have said, Frank doesn't seem to be too heartbroken over it and the people who voted all have their reasons. Just so you are aware as well, the BOG is not a paid position. No need to imply anything related to that.

Locker Room access and player page moving will be done ASAP, likely tomorrow morning. I know you're all excited to get to your new teams.

I'm not saying he should have gotten 0 votes. And keep in mind I don't have a vote anymore. I'm simply stating how the voting goes for that award. The cup makes no difference. if it did then winning the cup would guarantee a top GM award which is both boring and makes no sense. Just as the first cup in 20 seasons has no bearing. Not only is it cup related but how does it change anything that it's been awhile? It's a regular season award, simple as that. I would argue Victory Cup has more of a bearing on it than Continental Cup does. Ultimately though it comes down to what GM made the best moves in regards to their team winning. Frank 100% deserved the cup, I'm not denying that and Quebec had a great season but what was done in Riga far deserves top GM more.

Aside from Playoff MVP all awards are for the regular season. Cup is irrelevant and in fact the award was voted on before the cup was even won. The reason Higgins got it last year wasn't because he won the cup. It was because he made the moves to put his team above and beyond the competition in order to win. It isn't that I think Frank did nothing, he built a great team. However it was a long process of slowly building Quebec up. Riga meanwhile went from a bottom feeder (more or less) to the victory cup in the span of 1 season. That's top GM material.

This is why I said there may be errors in that list haha. Was trying to get it out and likely missed some signings. Closing this and removing him from the list.

Beketov's proven strategy for making a playmaker: Aim to make a Sniper. Has worked for me on at least 3 different occasions haha

I prefer 2D shits. They just come out as a line.

Just getting us acquainted with all the processes involved in keeping the New World Order running and such. You know, standard things.

The Toronto Legion's official stance on all this:

Last wins lotto, everyone has 33% chance at 2nd. Last doesn't win lotto, they get 2nd. That's the easy version anyway.
-
Fun fact: you've had 1 player more than me and I've been around 27 seasons longer.
-
I have also learned this. Are you only at 6?
-
well he did make it there so...gotta side with the rock on this one
-
He wasn't attacking anyone, don't make this into something it isn't. Honestly it is kinda a dirty technique but I guess we don't have any way around it.
-
1st OA. Wouldn't be the worst one ever.
-
Nevermind, I don't want to be involved anymore.
-
Not sure, happened to a few of them. I think when I copied his from 590 to MS the ones with randomizers kinda got locked to the aspect ratio they were at but when I copied them and they changed the new ratio didn't come with it so they got squished or stretched. It's weird but that seems to be the case.

There is no problem with having opinions on things, we all have opinions on things. In fact, opinions are exactly what the BOG does want. The problem is that you can't confuse opinions with fact and then argue to the death with anyone that disagrees with you. Disagreements are okay but going straight on the defensive and acting as if everyone is attacking you; while often being on the offensive yourself, doesn't rub people the right way. We want your opinions but acting as if you run this league and can say and do whatever you want will not fly, it's simple as that. You will not hold us hostage with these "my way or the highway" style statements.
