Did I not just specifically ask if you had an argument that didn’t involve the playoffs? The Cup means nothing in this discussion. I’m sorry if you disagree with that but this season that cup does not have any value on top GM. Do you have an argument that doesn’t involve it or not? Oh my god you could not even remotely be more wrong on that. It was far more easily described as @boubabi argues his case with everyone while eveyrone else brings up other options. It was anything but a circle jerk.

I get that’s your opinion and have said countless times and it may be looked at, you can stop sounding like a broken record. The point is that this season (like every other season before) playoffs were not considered. Believing they should is fine but that still doesn’t make it a valid argument for this season when they weren’t. If you have some kind of valid argument for Frank over Hedgehog without taking the playoffs into consideration bring it up because so far you have not. And please stop with the 0 votes thing. As several of us have already pointed out, that means nothing. Awards are not voted on by ranking, it is simply a vote on who deserves it the most. Cornerstone got 8/9 of the MVP votes and had a 5-6 page discussion on it. Does that sound like the other candidates weren’t considered at all? Yes, 0 votes could mean he was never considered but it just as easily can mean (and does in this case based off the discussion) that everyone thought that candidate was 2nd best.

How many times do I have to say it before you understand. There are no “current rules” aside from the fact that it’s Regular Season only. There are no set criteria or what makes a GM better than any other and nothing is guaranteed to weigh more heavily. You seem to be under the assumption that we vote for specific traits every single season with consistency and we simply don’t do that. It’s Top Executive, not “made the best moves.” We don’t automatically favour moves or favour the draft or favour free agency or whatever you wish to bring up. We simply look at the 10 GM’s and decide that given the scope of the league in that particular season who did the best with what they had. In this particular season the best was taking a pile of draft picks and turning them into an amazing group of players that took a team from 8th to 1st. Next season if no one does that different criteria will judge the winner. Or even if someone does do that but someone else does something better with their team then the GM not making moves could still win. We didn’t just decide 56 seasons ago that “Top GM = Best trades”; it is a constantly evolving metric based on the season. What wins one season may not win the next and 0 votes does not mean no one thought Frank was deserving. Please try to understand these concepts.

It really wasn’t that hard. Although I did figure out that 23 pages worth breaks the system and doesn’t allow the move window to open. Was honestly mostly just clicking select all and then moving over a page and repeating. I knew everything past page 2 or 3 was going to be old.

It was, kinda. I mean in the same way I answer most questions haha. Should be in my last CoDCast. Also no, I will not do that.

A reminder to everyone that these new rules go into effect this coming Monday. In preparation for that the Reviewing Logs forum has been made public. If you need any help with how to lay out your logs contact @DollarAndADream or simply look at one of the older grading logs. If you’re a former member of the grading or review team feel free to use your old log so long as you do not use any banked TPE you may have had remaining*. In addition Archives have been created for all Media Spots, Graphics, Podcasts, and Extras (Bios, RP’s and all older PTs). You can still comment in these threads if you wish to continue an older discussion you were having that was archived. However, creating new reviews in them will not count for your review log. Archives currently contain any PT’s older than 2 weeks old and as PT’s get reviewed fully they will intermittently be archived. *Current members of the PT Staff are exempt as mentioned above and can claim their banked TPE.

Oh yeah, I said I was gonna come up with questions for this. You should have tagged me haha. 1. A better PC you say? You buying or custom building? 2. 2 weeks in of being a commish, is the pressure getting to you yet? Not saying either one of us is going anywhere but man, I can see how Smarch might have snapped. 3. A whole lot of drama the past couple of weeks. Members arguing and such. Thoughts on all the drama?

Will kick in in 2 days* Next PT week (Monday) is when it starts.

Correct. Multiple people are suggested for discussion and about half of those go into the official ballot. Once there everyone is allowed 1 vote per category, no ranking. So it does happen that a player could be everyone's 2nd choice but get 0 votes.
-
As someone who can see the edit history I can confirm this.

Does this mean my questions are in episode 100? Because that would be awesome, just sayin'
-
So did I. Thing is it was exactly what you said you somehow always end up doing: joining in an oversaturated market. There was no market for Chekhov so he got stuck on a rebuilding team his entire career. Holik did better partly because his team's were somewhat competitive.

I'm sure Toronto would love to have you! So long as you accept that Sokolov is #1 in our hearts. Seriously though, a Sokolov / Petenis pairing would be sexy. @DollarAndADream / @Tyler Make it happen guys haha

I've been of the belief for awhile that there should be no reviewing cap. However that idea has been discussed (as you know) and people prefer that it stay capped at 2 TPE per week for reviews. However with the new reviewing system I think uncapping it would be too much. When it was a specific crew of people that could be incentivized to work more by making it unlimited it made sense. But with everyone reviewing I think it won't be needed and may simply be too easy a way to gain TPE. Also, Jason White, what a nice joke. Does hold a VHL record though! Better than Kristensen at least haha. I'd say Beketov was my best player, Holik second, then Miller, White, Young, Chekhov, Sharpe and finally Kristensen the scrub. Not sure where Sokolov will fall yet. On one side of Miller or the other I'm guessing. Well, you've got more cups than Holik at least! This isn't actually a review, I don't need one. Just wanted to actually comment on more than just the review stuff that I came in to comment on.

I'm just now listening to your last one and I realized you kinda answered my first question so you can ignore it if you want or go into more details if you want. Up to you.

Aw, @Beaviss beat me for the feature haha. Oh well.

1. Do you think the league made the right decision with its commish appointments? Pros and Cons of myself and Devise. 2. Ruutu has brought up interesting points about the playoffs serving a role in award voting. Thoughts? 3. Overall reaction to the awards this season. 4. You got drafted by Toronto! Are you excited?
-
1. Off-Seasons need to move forward or they'll go on forever. 2. Private voting means lack of knowledge on how many have voted except the person who set it up. 3. Nothing would ever get done if every BOG member needed to agree on everything. As for those that may not do as much as is ideal for the BOG role; it's being worked on. A BOG reshuffle is currently happening to get new people in and people that aren't living up to the roll out.

Voting is private, I have no idea who voted for who.
-
He did win it 2 years ago. Are you saying we should award the same GM every year because he managed to keep the same team competitive? I could argue this with you all day but the fact of the matter is that things change every single season. Simply keeping a team competitive doesn't mean you deserve the award every single season. Some years it definitely does but others it doesn't. This season there was a better candidate and all 9 votes (including Frank) agreed on that fact. If you disagree that's fine but the votes were cast for a reason and us explaining it in 10 different ways won't change that fact.
-
STHS handles the playoffs very randomly. We will consider having them involved in the decision but I cannot guarantee they ever will be. This season a lot of weight was put there because a lot of moves were made and teams went from being bottom feeders to being top end. That doesn't mean every season goes that way. In fact more often than not it doesn't because it's rare for a GM to manage something like that. That's how it feels like that to you this season because it happened that way to your GM; that's all it is. Let's say the situations are swapped and Frank got 8 votes with Hedgehog getting none. Riga players would feel that the voting unfairly favours drafting and keeping players long term than it does making moves. Every season is different and has different considerations. Take Riga out of the equation and Frank likely would have gotten votes. Frank could have been 2nd choice for literally every BOG member and he won't get any votes registered. No one is saying he didn't do well, he just wasn't the best choice this year.

1. There was a mistake made with the voting topic and Top D was missed in the vote. Not everyone saw the new topic which is why there were so few votes on it. It's annoying and it won't happen again but it has no bearing on top GM in any way. I don't see a reason to bring it up. 2. Possible changes to the award voting is being brought up. We'll consider whether playoffs should be a factor. As I stated above though, right now they are not so nothing will be changed by arguing about whether Frank deserved it or not right now. 3. As we said, top GM is not solely decided on moves and Hedgehog isn't necessarily out of the running if he doesn't make any; same as any other GM isn't. Just because another GM had a better season than Frank in the vote's opinion does not mean we don't recognize what Frank did. This has much less to do with what Frank did and much more to do with what Hedgehog did. Situations change every single season so each vote takes slightly different things into account. This season it happened to be moves because of how many were made. Next season maybe no one makes any trades so we take other things into consideration. 4. Once again, this is unrelated to the vote in question. I'm sorry it happened but bringing it up in this discussion doesn't serve any purpose.
-
Not true at all. Just that when another team's GM makes huge moves and goes from 8th to 1st it makes a pretty big splash. It's not that what Frank did can never be considered for the award. It can and has before. It's just that this season there was a better candidate.

I need to sleep more apparently, having the same free agents two years running is messing with my head haha. Doesn't help that I'm paranoid I put people on the list that shouldn't be there. Carry on...nothing to see here. *sneaks out the door*

Could you point out where that was accepted? There's nothing in the S57 contracts and the only offer he accepted in S56 was a 1 year deal.
