  1. It's not always GFX related stuff, just good apps. Usually there only like 2-4 in the bunch that are really worth it but you can choose to download only the ones you want anyway. Besides, half the time they are apps that cost over $50 on their own and you can get them in a pack with others for a fraction of the cost. They've actually got one going on right now: LINK. Current Average price is $11.87 which isn't bad at all. Plus 10% of whatever you pay goes to a charity of your choice.
  2. SUMMARY
  3. I'll post the rest of them now. Waiting on an export to finish anyway.
  4. So, I guess none of us decided to show up for the 1st period? Here's hoping the trend of trading wins continues and we can put together a solid game 7.
  5. Just so you guys know as well, if you watch the site (or check the emails) stack social has a tendency to put in great "pay what you want deals" where if you beat the average price (highest I've seen is like 10 bucks) you can usually get like 8-10 really great programs for cheap. At least they offer that for mac users, not sure if there are PC promotions as well.
  6. Just thought others might be interested in this. A site I've gotten programs from before (they tend to run cheap bundles) is offering some free GFX resources. Offer ends in 12 days and the content is a bit specific in some spots but there are brushes, fonts, textures, patterns, etc which are all pretty great to have. If you download the PSD I just put up several of these aspects are actually used in it. Anyway, here's the link. If you're interested all it takes is a login (also free) and you're good to go. https://stacksocial.com/sales/the-summer-freebie-designer-bundle
  7. Every once in awhile I create a sig that I feel like people could learn techniques from. Lighting, colouring, effects, whatever. When that happens sometimes I feel inclined to create tutorials but man is that ever a lot of work. So, instead, I'll just drop some PSD's in here. This is going to be my go-to place for giving away free PSD tutorials for learning purposes only. If, somehow, ripping them is what will make you learn then I'm amazed by the style in which you learn. However, if that is somehow the case, then rip away. Just don't try to pass the work off as your own; I will find you. The layers in these PSD's have not been named to reflect what was done, I leave that knowledge up to you to figure out. I find I never really learn from PSD's if I'm told exactly what was done. Experiment and see what you can come up with. If you have trouble with something, come ask and I'll do my best to explain. Also, unless otherwise stated, the PSD's have all been created in Photoshop CS6. However, many concepts exist in previous versions or can be easily re-created. Below is the first one in the bunch, my latest sig. I didn't like it that much at first but it's growing on me. The blurring and colouring are the main points of focus but feel free to look at everything else. In addition, if there are any sigs of mine you would like to learn from, post them here. If I can find the PSD I will share it. Happy learning, I'd love to see results if you use anything from this topic. Click the image to get link
  8. Nope, I'll be gone already, thanks for agreeing with me
  9. Thank you Greg, everyone has made that fact pretty clear. Here's the thing, I really don't care if I go first. I've never put myself on some kind of un-touchable pedestal and stated no one deserves 1st overall more than me. I've just defended myself when everyone has chosen to point out how completely undeserving of basically anything I am on account of, I guess, players I had during the busiest two years of university. - Sharpe was active despite being banned for an entire season. - Beketov is in the HoF, kinda don't need to say more. - Young was active his entire career, including an entire season on the bears bench. - Kristensen was a load of donkey nuts, I'll give you that. - White was on and off. I had some pretty shit seasons but I also had some perfectly valid ones. - Chekhov was active his entire career. It just happened to be slightly short (although still 6 seasons) because of a complete lack of goalie market. So, if we're keeping score, save a few weeks here and there (which everyone has) I've been perfectly active of 2/6 players. I'd say with the amount of players I've had that's a pretty decent track record. That got a lot more ranty than I intended and I apologize. Just trying to make a point though.
  10. I'd say trade to draft me first overall but historically speaking that hasn't gone well haha
  11. There were worse places for you to be ranked. Besides, as I said at the top, I wouldn't be against playing for anyone. You draft me, I'll be loyal.
  12. You realize I graduated University in May 2013 right? School is not of concern for me. Besides, for the first time in a long time the VHL is my only sim league. I'm doing welfare (if that) in the USFL but that's about it. Balancing work and the VHL is no problem. Besides, I was active with Chekhov the entire length of his career save a few random weeks. I don't think a few bad apples in my past players should spoil anything.
  13. I would like to make something clear off the top. I don't usually write these things because it makes it seem like I wouldn't be willing to play for one team or another. Fact is, that's not the case. Even if I get drafted by the last team on this list I would still be more than willing to sign a contract and help out. This is simply how I feel right now in regards to where I would like to see Miller playing next season. So, without wasting anymore time (and since I typed this part last and shit is getting long) onto the rankings! Number One Helsinki Titans With half the first round picks in a very deep draft, the Titans have the possibility to build an impressively strong young core of players. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't interested in being apart of that. Plus Helsinki and Quebec are the only two teams I've never played for in one way or another (never Davos but did when they were Amstel for example) so it could be cool to add another team to the list. Number Two Cologne Express I really did enjoy my time with the Express with Chekhov and it would be interesting to go back there. In addition to that, the Express have Vlasis and my current VHLM teammate Tremblay coming up next season, I think it could be fun to play with those guys. Number Three Riga Reign The few older members here might recall when I started performing well with Beketov, for those that don't, it's when I started playing for Mike in Vasteras. As far as I can recall I haven't played with him since and I would really like to again. The Reign look like they might be moving toward a younger team and I would enjoy being there for it. Number Four Seattle Bears My reasoning for Seattle is very similar to my reasoning for Riga. It's been a long time since I've been a bear (at least with a player I've enjoyed) but when I was there with Beketov I had some of the best years (both in the sim and out) that I've ever had in the VHL. I would love to be able to regain that. Number Five Calgary Wranglers Calgary comes in right in the middle for me, not because they are bad or undesirable, but more because I haven't looked into them quite enough. From what I can tell they are rebuilding though which is, in part, the kind of team I want to help out. Jumping onto a winning team is always great but it doesn't give the satisfaction of helping build a team up. I do think Calgary could actually be a good fit for me. Number Six Davos Dynamo Starting the lower end of the list is Davos. I have nothing major against the team, which is why they aren't lower, I just have no major love for them either. Maybe it's just the grumpy old poster inside of me that remembers the days when Davos was kinda the sleazy team, finding loopholes in the rules and such. I put them at 6th because I've seen a lot of people fall in love with being on Davos and I'm plenty willing to give them a shot; they just don't fall above the curve. Number Seven Toronto Legion I don't have any major issues with Toronto, after all my one good season with White was on the Legion. At the same time though, there isn't a huge draw for me. The team is strong and the players are nice but it just doesn't feel like they need that extra forward to help them out. I'm just not sure I would be a great fit on the Legion. Number Eight Vasteras Iron Eagles A list without Vasteras being at the bottom, how preposterous! In any case, I enjoyed the one time I was on Vasteras but just don't think the atmosphere would work for me now. I want to be able to be as active as I can be and you gotta have a certain kind of tough skin to play for Vasteras. I'm not sure the league's reaction to them wouldn't push me away. Number Nine New York Americans The Americans seem to fall under the same kind of logic that the Legion did. It's not that they are a bad team, quite the opposite is true. I just don't think I would fit in all that well with them which pushes me away a bit. Number Ten Quebec City Meute It's kinda funny, had I done one of these with Chekhov pre-draft I likely would have had Quebec at the top, yet here we are. With all due respect to Quebec I just don't see their direction right now. I think their push for excellence a few seasons ago left them a little crippled right now and things are trying to be figured out. Quebec needs players that can hop in and help with that. I have never been a VHL GM and I have no real interest in being one; therefore I don't think I would want to be counted on in that way. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, maybe I'm not. I just don't fully feel like Quebec is the place for me.
  14. Not really sure what happened here. Based in game 1 I'm going to bet this was some kind of fluke goalie game.
  15. Cena wins, how absolutely shocking The amount they hand him the title really discounts the whole 15x champion thing. It used to actually mean something that the Ric Flair's and Triple H's of the WWE held the title over 10 times. Now Cena has basically made that accomplishment nothing by having it constantly handed to him. It makes any championship match with him in it downright boring because you know the outcome in advance; even more than the usual predictability of these things. Really wish the WWE would start treating the people who deserve respect with a little and stop pandering to 6 year olds. Pretty much everyone over the age of 10 hates Cena and yet he's always the one being handed everything. This was a perfect opportunity to actually surprise people a little and have Cena lose but of course they couldn't do that.
  16. Two things happened for Jackson Miller this past week. The first, and more immediately noticeable, is that his team (Moscow) eliminated the Bern Royals in 4 games to move onto the VHLM Conference final against the Turku Outlaws. The second is less obvious but a major stepping stone for the budding superstar. As of this past week Jackson Miller has officially surpassed the VHLM "cap" for player practice hours of 175. Miller currently sits at 181 with the playoffs, an end-season boost, and a lengthy off-season before his VHL career even gets started. In discussing the accomplishment, Jackson stated, "It feels really good. I'm mostly trying to focus myself on the playoffs at the moment but I'd be stupid not to notice what I just did. I've been expecting to hit it all season but it feels completely different when you actually do. I'm just hoping some GM's take notice as well." Miller currently sits atop his draft class in practice hours but where he'll go in the draft is anyone's guess. The S39 draft has a mix of new prospects and ones coming in from older agents with the top 4 very much still up in the air. Most mock drafts up to this point have, strangely enough, pointed at Miller going either 1st or 4th overall. Only time will tell.
  17. Wanted to try some vintage colouring with modern twists. Worked out decently.
  18. I've always respected you as a player and member, really hoping you can stick around in a decently high capacity with your next player. You gave me a shot in Cologne when everyone else didn't think I was worth it; that got me coming back here day after day. I wouldn't have half of that career, or a new one starting up, without that chance.
  19. Gino was actually one of the people we interviewed for an RDS series that just finished up at work. Such a nice guy to talk to. We knew during shooting that he had admitted himself to a hospital but didn't know exactly why, makes more sense now. The guy just lost his father too (passed away during post) which I'm sure makes it even tougher since they were really close.
  20. My "panties" aren't in a bunch about anything. I was just saying your stance seemed odd. You explained it well which is why I didn't reply. As for the "I would hope" comment, I'd like to point out that I wasn't the only deadline re-create but I am the only one to have hit that at this point. I'm not trying to hype myself up, just saying that it's not as minor a thing in this class as you're making it out to be. I've already got higher TPE than all but 2 people had come the draft last season and the same for the season before; plus there's still another 3 weeks at least before draft time.
  21. 175 TPE before playoffs even start and I drop to 4th? Yeah, sure. If nothing else I doubt that Cologne would pass on me.
