Firstly, I wanna thank Jason @Jason kranz for the
huge contributions to Las Vegas and we had managed to get a lot done during this time. I wouldn't have done it without his help. He is no doubt one of the greatest people to be around and I am sad to say that I have to find a new AGM.

With that said, I am looking for a new member to join me in managing LVA. The job description involves writing weekly press conferences, interacting with the team and getting things active, assist me with line changes so I would prefer you have STHS running properly. You can also approach Jason and he will tell you what he has done.

    Happy applying! If anyone does....

CBBEs Floatie Piplup reaches level 100, is this the turnaround for the Las Vegas Aces?

    Celebration

I'm going to be honest, I was told to write this and I have no clue why. But, here we are as finally, CBBEs Floatie Piplup has hit level 100 and it's a huge turning point for the Las Vegas Aces potentially. Las Vegas currently holds a 7-11-0 record through 18 games, probably not the start they were hoping for, but for the past couple of days @dylanjj37 aka Juan Ceson was not having the best of time. He wanted a celebration for his old friend, piplup, and unfortunately his teammates weren't buying into it. However, after Las Vegas hasn't had the best record through 18 games, it seems like they now have a change of heart and are willing to hold a celebration for the Piplup. This specific Piplup has been through many different time periods in the Las Vegas history, going through all the highs and lows that Las Vegas has had in the past couple of seasons. Could this finally be the new dawn of the Aces where they turn around the season and show that they have what it takes to be a contender, or will they continue to slide and potentially not make the playoffs?

One thing is for sure though, Floatie Piplup knows what the team needs best and in their time of need, he will show up and help carry the team to victory.

One crazy offseason later, Las Vegas Aces officially signed Juan Ceson. As the offseason was inching to an end, more and more teams came forward to offer a contract to Juan. This included the S86 champions, San Diego Marlins and Juan Ceson's favourite holiday place, Mexico City. Juan did not make it easy for any of the teams and Vegas had to put quite the amount on the table for Juan. The management has something to say about this.

"We had to show that we are committed to signing Juan Ceson hence we offered what we could and even more to have him play in our arena, on our end of the ice. Juan provides an incredible presence on and off the ice, the city of Vegas loves to watch his hockey and now we are proud to have him back, wearing the C for us! The whole is pretty stoked to start the season now."

    Fast forward to the presence-

The season is two sims in and we are seeing Vegas be in the middle of the pack. I'm gonna talk about this from a personal point of view and be more first person about it. The season is off to an okay start but I won't go ham about how we're doing better than expected. As we hit the second and third week, we will see players getting dropped and teams losing a little firepower and this doesn't exclude Vegas.  I do hope that we can continue this trend of getting decent wins, having fun and success. As a GM in the VHLM, what should our job really be? Getting wins? Helping new creates? Managing retention? Having fun? There is no defining line to this question but there is an ideal answer. Recently, what's eating me up is players not responding to LR invites or attempts to reach out to them failing. There is only so much one can do but somehow this also eats me up as I will have to drop players from the roster if they fail to stay active and the impact ripples across the league.

This is definitely not an easy job but we get paid to put in more effort. Being a VHLM GM has to be the hardest GM'ing spot in the league but I am honestly enjoying every bit of it.

Interviewer: What do you think about the 2 first games of the season?

Jason: Well the 1st game wasn’t what we wanted for our first game, but the second game was what we wanted and everyone worked really hard to win after the lose against Moscow Menace.

Interviewer: What are you’re thoughts on your performance in the 2 games?

Jason: The first game I did not like how I played I could of done so much better, the second game I was really happy, scoring 2 goals is big for me.

Interviewer: This one is a random question but what team are you most excited to play against this season, and how do you think Prague is going to do against them?

Jason: I would have to say Davos just because I know so many players that play for Davos, and I think we’ll do good against them, we’ve got really good forward lines and also defensive lines, they might have a better defensive 1st line, but we also have really good defensemen that are doing a really good job defending.

Interviewer: thanks for taking your time to answer these questions Jason, have a good rest of your day.

    Jason: you to.

As the offseason ends, we here at the Las Vegas Aces would like to extend our best wishes to all the times and everyone that comes across this post! As the title suggests we will be announcing our leadership group today!

Announcing our returning veteran and captain, Juan Ceson @dylanjj37! Juan has had an interesting offseason but chose to return to the city he has called home for his entire career and we are grateful towards him and his family. With this exciting news, we are planning to place a statue of our long time captain in front of the arena.

Our first alternate captain goes to Ivan Varlamov @StoneWallGoalie077! Ivan is a returning player in which the team drafted with its second round pick. We have no doubt that he will lead the team to plenty of victories along side Juan Ceson.

The second 'A' goes to Eurydyka Sklodowska Dudzinska @diamond_ace! Our first round pick will share the leadership role with fellow seniors. We also believe in his capabilities on and off the ice.

Our third 'A' goes to Rip Wheeler @ScottyP! Signed in waivers, he has shown strong leadership qualities and his teammates surely agree!

Congratulations to everyone and let's all have a great S87!

Siyan Yasilievich Named Captain for Davos 3rd Season in a Row

    Captaincy Announcement

Just a couple hours ago, Siyan was named the captain for the upcoming S87 season for the HC Davos Dynamo, marking his 3rd time as captain for the team. He was asked by the media his thoughts on being named the captain and expectations for the season, to which he replied, "I'm glad to be named the captain for the third season in a row. I feel like I've found my footing in the VHL and I'm ready to make the huge jump this season into becoming a superstar defenseman. I'll for sure have to do a bit more heavy lifting this season, as a lot of the responsibility is going to fall on me if this team sinks or swims, and I am ready to take that responsibility. I expect to be a playoff team, and anything short of that is a failure in my books. This season is on me, if I'm able to show up and do what I'm supposed to and more, we'll go far. Otherwise, I'll shoulder all the blame for this season as I was brought in to lead the team to success, which I promise I will do."

Siyan Yasilievich currently has 166 points in 216 games with the HC Davos Dynamo, including an EU Conference Finals appearance last season. Coming off a career high season, with 70 points in 72 games, Siyan should be able to eclipse a point-per-game player in the first time in his career and be able to be in contention for a couple awards potentially at the end of the season.

Very late to the party but here are my thoughts.

For the short time I've been here, the changes have actually helped and are very useful. The IA goalie flexibility gives everyone a chance to not get shit on and the portal waiver system is really nice to give us time to tend to our personal life. However one thing I wanna suggest is still to limit the amount of spamming a player can do. It isn't as bad as before but I still can get spams here and there. I know it might be pretty far fetched to ask for limiting players to only choose a team but that's a suggestion to avoid confusion among players and teams.

Moving on to the M development. S86 was really difficult because we had the worst season by far. We weren't getting clickers and even in our draft interviews for S87, we had players mentioning they wanted Vegas to fix issues so we aren't downright at the bottom of the standings. I can say from what I dealt with is that players actually hardly join the discord server and this makes it so much harder to talk, interact and push them to earn. I'm glad that this season is a little better with a few players actually asking me about TPE and earning but majority of them don't actually show up into my locker room. Secondly, I saw piffer mention this earlier that there's trouble getting to them once we don't read the bot message as soon as they join and that's pretty much the same for me. Overall, we have the resources to get them earning, developing but the problem lies in not being able to reach out to them.

I certainly believe that I can improve in certain aspects of my job. The Commish and the league have provided us with plenty to use and also capitalise properly to help new creates stay and earn more than just welfare. I think I just wanna point out the difficulty in reaching out to them as my response has mentioned.

I have a mildly unpopular opinion here, and that is that it doesn't matter which pop-up windows we put up on the portal that should help new members--yes, it's helpful to talk about how we can reorient the portal creation process, but retention starts and ends with us and pretending otherwise is dodging the point. Do you think the VHL never had a solid track record of retention before all the new portal stuff? Of course not--most of you were GMs before portal waivers, and all of you initially created before that point. What made you stick around? What made you earn more than just welfare? What do you remember about your first GM and what they did for your team?

This isn't an "it's the portal's fault" situation, because clearly a lack of all the resources the portal has to offer today wasn't a problem for scores of new members like you and me when the full picture wasn't available. So, to me, it's a little bit sad to see most discussion in this thread centered around "well, clearly the issue is out of our control, so let's adjust the part of the system we're not involved with".

To be clear, the point of this thread isn't to call anyone out. In fact, we talked about putting it up today, and not a single GM was mentioned in there specifically. What we are doing, though, is noticing a general trend and attempting to respond to it in a way that acknowledges that we don't quite know exactly why, but makes it clear that something has gone downhill recently and asks you guys to do a bit of self-reflection.

Does your team have any active first-gens? If not, why not? Do you think there's anything you're missing out on with your new players--can you honestly say that you're doing all you reasonably can to help? We don't want you to try to justify it in this tread. We don't want apologies or promises. We want you to ask yourself these questions, and to apply yourself towards improving where you feel you can. Even feel free to hit up your friends on other teams if you'd like--what do they do for their players that you might not, and how can you learn from it?

Last but not least--we raised your pay because we trust you to do good work, and now that this is out there, I trust you to do good work with it. Good luck!
