    Off-season edition!

    1. How excited are you for the upcoming 75th season?
    2. Do you think the off-season needs some activites to keep you engaged?

    3. What are your thoughts on the VHLM finals matchup of Miami vs Mississauga?

    4. If you had to choose one song to pump up the team before a game, what would it be?

    5. Does pineapple belong on pizza?

    6. What is your favourite VHLM team/city to travel to for away games?

    1. I'm incredibly excited for the upcoming season, I'm eligible for the VHL and VHLM draft so to be put on a brand new team is quite exciting to see. This here is simply gonna be the start of my career. Can't get better than that!

    2. I would say so yeah, usually the off season stinks for players and fans cause no games or hockey is going on so we gotta fill our time with something. Activities and big events like the draft and free agency certainly make that possible.

    3. Me and the rest of the locker room legit are stunned Miami made it this far, like... no offense but I've been expecting the other teams to win and they manage to beat them so. I'm cheering for Mississauga, if you get what I'm saying.

    4. There has been a few songs I have been playing around the locker room "WHATSGOOD" by Tyler the Creator been pumping us up but also "Crown Me" by Hopsin is incredibly fitting for the Kings. If I gotta pick, "Crown Me" baby.

    5. Yeah, I guess. I'm a cheese pizza guy so I don't really mind or debate pineapple on pizza. You do you, your money, your stomach.

    6. I wanna say Yukon was actually pretty interesting at first simply because.... I didn't know it existed. So for Canada, I'll go Yukon and for America... Ooh, Vegas. Vegas is always fun. When we got eliminated we all just went out gambling and the fans gave us a lot of sh*t since they beat us. Bragging rights.

    #nocaps edition :(

    1. We were eliminated in the first round of playoffs by Vegas, and the series finished 4-1. Are you surprised by this result?

    2. What are your goals in the off-season as far as improving your skills?

    3. If you are draft eligible this season, are you excited for the upcoming draft? If you have been drafted already, what advice do you have for the players waiting to hear their name called by a VHL team?

    4. Are you the type of person to vacation during the off-season, or just stay at home and chill with the family?

    5. What kind of things will you be doing to pass the time until hockey resumes?

    6. Are you overall happy with how the season went for you? If not, why not?

    1. I think I'd be surprised regardless of the outcome, that's the joy of playoff hockey. You never know what could happen. We had a shutout game, we had games that went to overtime, we had one hell of a postseason and I'm nothing but proud of everyone.

    2. My goals certainly would be working on my discipline, kinda tired of spending time in the penalty box. That and getting my numbers up, points, shots, hits, everything.

    3. I'm incredibly excited for this upcoming draft actually, I have no idea what teams would take me and I'm pretty excited to see myself possibly in the VHL soon. My time in the VHLM all started with a focus of getting value for the draft so, I hope the games I played were of good use.

    4. I like to mix it up a bit, you know from travelling from country to country, city to city, sometimes you need a break. So I most likely am gonna spend time chilling at home with family for a bit and get a nice vacation in before the season begins. Maybe once I get drafted, I'll take a visit to my new "home".

    5. Some days I'll be relaxing at home, healing any wounds and bruises, when I'm feeling better I'll start practicing, most likely gonna catch up on any old hobbies I couldn't do while on the road.

    6. Very happy, of course I could say it could've went better but at the same time the team really went in a good direction than what was expected. We made playoffs, grew the team, we made our name known and I'm proud to have been a King for a few games.

    Playoffs are here edition!

    1. It looks like we're destined for a 7th place finish, are you happy with where we will probably end up?

    2. Las Vegas seems to be our most likely opponent in the first round of playoffs, what will be our key to success?

    3. We had a massive slump in a crucial time of the season, what helped us break out of that funk?

    4. Do you prepare for playoff games differently than you would a regular season game?

    5. What's your favourite part about playing in Mexico City?

    6. Who do you think is the most important player on the team right now?

    1. Personally not so much, I think with our cold streak it really took us down a peg. Those games against Yukon and Ottawa were very important for us which led us to 7th place. I'm grateful to be in the playoffs, no doubt about that. Regardless, let's see how this rolls out.

    2. No pun intended but I'd say luck. I mentioned before this team thrives on motivation and morale so I hope we can finish this season with a hot streak so we can enter the playoffs and Vegas with nothing but fire.

    3. The team is very aware when we're doing poorly, we talk about it openly and don't hold back. Its that determination to win is what makes us bounce back, we get our asses beat and instead of taking our time to get back up and recover we all go "Alright, no more. Let's f***ing win. Let's change sh*t up, let's get our sh*t together and let's win."

    4. I try my best to stay away from superstitions but with playoffs I put a lot more focus on the team. Instead of wearing my own clothes when coming into the arena, you'll probably see me in a Kings hat or shirt, playoff beard gonna grow for sure, gotta keep our luck with us. Rituals, anything.

    5. The Latino culture I'd say was a good reminder of my heritage, I'm not Mexican but getting involved and more familiar with my surroundings was great. I have a feeling people really enjoyed seeing "Sosa" on a Mexico City jersey which makes me very happy.

    6. Myself. Nah, I'm kidding. I want to say Emerson and Sterling simply because goaltending is a very important thing for us but everyone is important. The centers, the forwards, the defense, the coaches, the goalies, everyone. We're all important, we all need to be a well oiled machine entering the postseason. We want that crown.

    Trade deadline edition!

    1. We're struggling to make up ground on the teams ahead of us, what will be our key to gaining traction on them?

    2. Our backup goalie Mike Sterling has 2 shutouts in 4 starts, how important is a solid backup goaltender for a team?

    3. Trade deadline is today (Monday)! What should the Kings be looking at acquiring?

    4. Are there any other VHLM teams you would want to play for?

    5. We have earned ourselves the nickname of "Streak Busters". What makes us so effective against teams on a big winning streak?

    6. Are you more of a taco person, or a burrito person?

    1. I think personally the best way to gain traction all starts with a good morale, you know we've been losing games from time to time.. currently on a bit of a cold streak but when we get the engines going, magic happens. I've seen the team go on hot and cold streaks now so as we're reaching the end of the season, we just need that final push of motivation.

    2. Mikey has done good for us, got his off days but it's always good having a solid backup. It gives us and the fans some relief if Emerson needs a day off we don't gotta worry whenever the opponents shoot, we can trust him.

    3. Defense. Powerplay Kills are very important and with some additional skill, I think we can get Sterling a few more shutouts.

    4. Honestly I'm open to anyone that's interested, Mexico City has been great to me and if I were to stay on the team, I wouldn't mind. I think if I REALLY had to pick, I'd go with a team that's in the States.

    5. I think the team really thrives on momentum, whenever we win one game there's several more to come and whenever we lose a game... well you know. It's good to stay consistent it's just a matter of staying consistently good. By the way, those jerseys look GREAT.

    6. Tacos. Tacos and no tap water... trust me.

  5. My first two games in the Victory Hockey League Minors were certainly eventful to say the least, back to back games against the Houston Bulls with a lot on the line. I signed with the Mexico City Kings after several teams have offered me a spot on their lineup, some that are top ranking teams, some low at the bottom and some that were in the middle of potential postseason or an early offseason. What drove me to Mexico City was one thing: Value. It sounds selfish but I joined the Kings because I wish to show as much value as I can for the upcoming VHL Season 75 draft. I wanted a spot on the lineup where I would have time to show how beneficial I can be for the team in both postseason and regular season, I help the Kings and they help me. Sounds like a win win situation. The coach and managers are great people, I enjoy chatting and joking around with them and my teammates are just as great to me. I sat out my first 4 games due to some.... well don't drink foreign water is all I can say. Regardless, my first two games for the team we're quite successful. +4 rating, 68.5% faceoff wins and even without a point with my name on it, the team gained 4 points in the standings with 2 wins, extending us to a 6 game winning streak.

Today I received word that I am projected as number #47 in the draft board, to be part of the Top 50 is big enough for me and I'm glad my plan is working the way I intended. I have goals in mind, get my first goal, my first point, go up the rankings but the overall goal is something for everyone that wears the black, red and white.

Bring home the Season 74 crown.
