    Presser time!!

    What’s your favourite movie?
    Happy Gilmore

Whats the reason you made your player be playing it’s position?

It’s what I play in real life mostly

Do you have season goals set for yourself? If so how are you making out on them

My goal was to be over 1 ppg, so far I’m doing well on that

If you had to choose a number for your player what would you pick?

    34

is Thad the worlds best boss? Should we look at getting him a mug for his hard work this season?

Hes great, very encouraging towards the new guys

can we improve our discord LR activity and maybe add things to get closer together? What’s your suggestion on more engagement from each other?

Look at the Miami LR, they’ve got a bunch of different places to discuss thing like gaming, the league, etc..

    3) what’s better? The office- the American version or parks and rec?

(please note you may be traded with wrong answers ;)) The office, never really got into parks n rec but it’s a good show

Definitely some fried chicken, really good no matter where or when

    6) what’s one area the management could improve for this season for your experiences?  I’ve had a very good experience so I can’t really complain  about anything

We are in the final games of season 75 and the San Diego Marlins will finish 2nd in the Conference and possibly 2nd overall in the league, meaning we are the third seed in the s75 playoffs! Congratulations to this amazing Marlins team and let’s go get a Founder’s Cup.

    This week’s Presser for December 21st – December 27th:

    1.      As the 3rd seed, we matchup with Miami for the postseason first, something we expected dating back a few Pressers ago. How do you think we stack up with the defending champions?

My old team, can’t wait to get my chance to make sure they can’t go back to back

    2.      Interesting development to close the season with Philly taking a bit of a slump to finish. With that said, is Philadelphia more likely to be eliminated Halifax/Yukon or do you believe Mexico City will be upset in the first round? Explain?

Mexico City definitely won’t be upset, but I think there could be a possible upset brewing for Philly

    3.      In a heavy in history matchup between Saskatoon & Las Vegas, who do you think has an edge in that series?

I like LV, but Saskatoon is good as well. Hard to decide the winner for that matchup

    4.      Who has been San Diego’s most UNDERRATED player this season?

Frank Funk, not a first liner but had 44pts and 7 gwg, great depth

    5.      With many of our Marlins going to the VHL next season, how do you feel about where you’re headed and how your VHL team finished this season?

I’m happy to play another year in the VHLM next year, Riga is still rebuilding so I look forward to hopping up and helping the team when we are ready to push for the playoffs

    6.      Finally, a Christmas question. Is Die Hard a Christmas movie? No, no, in all seriousness, how will you be spending the holiday?

Yes die hard is a Christmas movie, and I’ll spend my holiday with my family, nothing crazy due to covid

It’s that time again dear Marlins, our Press Conference for the week of December 14th – 20th. We’ve been on the highest of high notes lately, Christmas the following week, and the end of the season approaching, we have a stacked pack of questions for all of you:

    1.       Our 13-Win Streak has been snapped. How would describe the run the Marlins have been on and the 13-Game stretch as a whole?

It was amazing, nothing feels better than a king winning streak

    2.       During our leagues’ high win streak, what were your two favorite games from that run?

The game is got a Hatty, and when we beat Mexico

    11 hours ago, IamMOOSE said:

    3.       Now onto the Trade Deadline. With Myself & IR already having made a couple moves, are you satisfied with how the trade deadline was handled by the Marlins’ front office?

Great moves, bringing in solid talent for the push for the playoffs

    4.       In 32-Games since joining the Marlins, Maksim Yakolevsky [@Nepto] has accumulated 40 points, including 16 goals for the team! Along with being a great addition on the ice, he’s been a vocal member of the team in the lockeroom. What does Yakolevsky bring to the squad that has made him such a great fit in San Diego?

He’s a cool guy and his player does work on the ice, can’t ask for more than that

    5.       San Diego made some bold moves this past draft, selecting a noncapped defense pairing 1st and 2nd overall, then rolling the dice on an affiliate #1 Center, and two returning VHL greats. With all of those pieces coming together to create what looks to be a contender for the title this season, do you think those moves have already been validated or do you still believe there’s more to prove?

It’s been more than validated, and we’ll always have something to prove until we win the cup

    6.       Our lockeroom has had some deep discussions about certain VHL policies and procedures in the past and with that we’ll open it up to the Press Conference. If we could shoot on the league for a minute on behalf of our command-n-chief, why should @InstantRockstar get a shot at a GM role in the VHL main, where would you like to see him go, and who would you have take over for the Marlins that is

    NOT @IamMOOSE

    6. He should get a shot because he’s an amazing gm, he’s very positivity and helpful to everyone on the team and he keeps the locker room active. And to pick one person would be hard, but probably cowboy

Hello Marlins! I’m back with another Press Conference, this time for the week of December 7th – 13th. We’re fast approaching the trade deadline after crossing the midway point of the season. Staring down the lens of a 27-14-2 record after 43 games, we are 3rd in our conference and 4th in the VHLM in points.

    1.       We’re 24 points ahead of Houston, the 9th place and first team out of the playoff hunt as of this writing. With what looks like a smoother ride to make the playoff we can begin to experiment a bit to gear up for a postseason run. What line pairs would you like to see in these last few weeks of the season? Who would you like to play with on a line with?

I’ll play with whoever, I’m not worried about playing with a specific person

    2.       We’ve been struggling against teams higher in the league like Saskatoon, Philadelphia, and of course Mexico City. What do you think the strategy could be to make us more competitive with the top teams in the league?

Just gotta find what lines work against which teams and roll with them

    3.       Assuming the standings remain relatively the same, how comfortable are you with a first-round matchup with Miami?

My old team, they’re good in the playoffs so I don’t know how I feel about that

    4.       A lot of interesting builds in the VHLM. What do you feel the most underrated stat is in a player’s build and why?

well I’m a center so I think faceoffs are underrated, they’re important to winning games

    5.       Your teammate Kaberle has been on fire with a mountain of content the last few weeks. Do you feel he should dial it back a bit to avoid burning himself out or is the strategy of full investment worth it in the long haul? [@fromtheinside] go ahead and comment on what the idea behind the mass of content is and how you’re managing it.

If he’s enjoying it then I’d say keep going till it’s not fun to do, ride it while it’s hot

    6.       Who is our lockeroom MVP for the midway point of the regular season?

Moose and Cowboy along with Kaberle are all pretty active and take a lot so any of them

Hello Marlins. What a fantastic week of VHLM action we got this past week with a just fiery 13-3-1 record over that stretch. Amazing work everyone. Note before we start, from this week until the New Year, I would like if anyone has open end questions that can be plugged in for future Pressers to please submit them with your responses in the “QUESTIONEE” section. As many of you may know, I will be going in for surgery (it’s pretty minor in my opinion) Tuesday to repair the tear in my arm, leaving a 4-6-week recovery window to fill. Not mandatory but would help a down on his luck AGM get through pure pain from writing these one handed. Anyway, here is the Press Conference for the week of November 30th – December 6th:

    1.    After an unbelievable stretch this week, what do The Marlins need to do to maintain this momentum?

    2.    We’re being heavily carried on even strength by our top guys, what do you think the disconnect is between some of our depth players and how would you go about shifting the chemistry of the team?

    3.    At 16-7-2 to end the week, London is the early season story. Do you believe in this London United team as a true top contender or are they just overplaying expectations right now? Explain.

    4.    How was your Thanksgiving (Americans)? If you aren’t American, how was your week?

    5.    King is purchasing catering for practice if we beat Philly and Mexico City this week. What entrée would you like on the menu?

    6.    In a non-covid world, how would you feel about the Winter Classic becoming the kickoff to the All-Star weekend? Like the Winter Classic would be the last game before the All-Star break instead of first day of the New Year.

    QUESTIONEE SECTION

    1. Continue to earn and keep the momentum going

     2. Some of the players are just not gelling together, we need to find the right combinations on lines to help the depth

    3. I like a bit of a surprise contender so I hope they keep up the good work

     4. Thanksgiving was boring this year, I didn’t get to see any of my extended family, so basically I just ate turkey and played uno with my family

     5. Bacon cheeseburgers, those things are delicious

     6. That sounds like it would be a good idea,  I never really cared about the winter classic except for when my team plays in it

I'm keeping this pretty short this week, still got the arm in and out of a sling so doing this by phone. Anyway, here's your Presser for November 23rd-29th:

    1. We're going into week two of the season with a pretty average record and some areas to work on. What is your thoughts on week one of the VHLM Season and what are you looking to improve on going forward?

    2. At this point of the season, are we above, below, or meeting your early expectations for this season? Explain.

    3. We have one of the worst PKs in the league, what would be your strategy to turn around our shorthanded unit?

    4. It's American Thanksgiving on Thursday, what are you most thankful for in the VHL?

    5. What is your favorite holiday food? Why?

    6. If you could invite only one member of the team to your next holiday dinner, who would it be?

    1. Week one has been pretty fun, my guy has been decent but is getting better. Overall the team just needs to get on track and everything will be good.

    2. I’m at around where I expected to be, not elite yet but close to it.
    3. Team needs to focus on improving our defensive ratings

    4. Ability to talk to many people and have good interactions

    5. Ham, I like meat a lot, ham is just all around good on any holiday

    6. Cowboy, that guy is crazy and seems like he’d have a lot of good stories

Gonna be super basic this week 11/16 - 11/22. Picked up a legitimate minor injury over the weekend and typing on the computer is a bit rough right now. Let's get those W's when the season starts on Wednesday! That'll make me feel better.

    1.      The VHLM Regular Season begins this week, how excited are you to get back on the ice following this 140-year long off season?

    2.      Some big changes to the VHLM and the league as a whole this season, how do you feel about the changes to the inactivity policy and the VHLM Juniors?

    3.      Who on the team aside from yourself are you most interested in seeing their development on the ice this season?

    4.      IR is covering the bill for catering for our first home game of the season ?, what do you want included?

    5.      To get into the team spirit of the city, tell me one fact about San Diego?

    6.      Who wins the Continental Cup in the VHL this season?

    1. I’m super excited, I’ve been itching to get back into the swing of things, I’ve been missing games.

    2. I think the junior ideas and inactive policy changes are positive and are gonna help the league continue to grow.

    3. Definitely our captain Cowboy, he’s pretty close to max and I think he’s gonna be very key to our success this season

    4. Steak, lots of steak. Nothing like a good meal before a big game

    5. The Padres just made it to the NLDS this year, but lost badly to the LA Dodgers

    6. Roll Riga baby!

Well, after what felt like 72,463 years the drafts finally hit and has now passed as we move towards the Wednesday, November 18, 2020 start date for season 75! I want to send out a big heartfelt congratulations not only to all of our new Marlins players but to all of you who were included/drafted in the VHL Draft Monday! With that said and some other announcements and things coming shortly, let’s get on with our first post-draft Press Conference!

    1.      With the craziness of the draft now behind us, what did you take away from the VHL & VHLM drafts? How were they similar? How were they different?

    2.      While we’ll always expect the cliché answers on how satisfied you are with where you ended up, instead, are you at all surprised with where you went or how high/low you were selected? What do you personally think went into the decision to draft you where you were taken?

    3.      Focusing now on this upcoming season, what are your expectations as a player statistically for season 75?

    4.      How can you improve your player this season, and what will you be focusing on skill-wise first?

    5.      As San Diego looks to makes the player/user experience better every season, I will be taking a focus on rebuilding the forum club room, including some forum exclusive stuff. What types of things would you like to see on the club forum lockeroom?

    6.      Let’s give a big congratulations to Cowboy Prout, our team Captain for the Marlins in season 75! Any words for our new lockeroom general?

    1. The drafts were both very interesting, I liked watching along and waiting to get picked, definitely had some excitement when I got picked both times. The biggest takeaway from the drafts is that the VHLM is gonna be very competitive this year, and for the VHL a bunch of very good upcoming players got picked which will lead to the continued growth of the league

    2. I think I got selected pretty high in the VHLM draft, I was expecting to go around the low 4th but I’m happily surprised. As for the VHL I went around where I expected to go and I’m very excited for the opportunity with both teams

    3. Obviously I expect to increase my totals as they were pretty low at the end of the year, however as long as my team is doing good then I don’t mind

    4. I’m a center so I wanted to work a little bit on my face off skill, then just overall spread out the tpe to the important categories to stay well balanced

    5. I couldn’t say, I’m not very familiar with the forum clubhouse, but I look forward to using it more

    6. I’m proud of him for being named captain and I can’t wait to get rolling this year!

Great look at the Reign draft! I liked the fact that you added some information on the players and what they bring to the table. In general, a picture or two and maybe some ''structure'' in terms of spacing between paragraphs would make it slightly easier read.

Yeah I get that, like spacing and some pictures to make it neat and more presentable

  11. n the S75 VHL draft, the Riga Reign went big getting Addison McLaren, Cabe Mcjake, Nikolas D’Andrea, and Vivek Weiner. These players are all connected not just by the team that drafted them, but the team who they player for last year, the S74 Founders Cup champion Miami Marauders. The Marauders completed one of the craziest Cinderella runs in all of VHLM history, defeating the heavy favorite Halifax 21st in a heavily contested rollercoaster 7 game series, again going into another 7 game series against a very strong Los Vegas Aces  team who almost completed a reverse sweep. After slaying the dragon and overcoming the Ricer curse, the Marauders made quick work of the Mississauga Hounds, completing a 4 game sweep and capturing the Founders Cup. The main points of drafting these 3 players are, championship pedigree, clutch factor, and overall activity. The Miami Marauders were amazing at keeping their team locked in and engaged in the locker room, which ultimately led to the success of the team as every player kept upgrading their players every week. This is something the Reign need desperately as they are in rebuild mode, which requires them to turn their picks into players who will grow and develop to slowly mold their team together over time, which will pay dividends in the long run as they don’t have to worry about picking the highest tpe players, instead finding players who are going to continue to grow at a high rate. Both Mcjake and McLaren are constantly at the top of weekly earnings, shine light onto the ever growing new generation of Riga Reign hockey. As for D’Andrea, he started as a late acquisition during the late season playoff push for the Marauders, contributing points whenever he could, provided the needed depth the Marauders needed to go the distance in the playoffs. He will most certainly need more time to season in the VHLM before he’ll be able to make an impact in the big league. Along with the Miami boys, the Reign also picked up Dolant Fertitta, a star left winger who played with Halifax the past season, has a great scoring touch and overall strong offensive skill set, as well he has a very strong defensive game which will add up to a strong player to add for the Riga Reign. Along with Fertitta, Riga also selected Joe Kelly, and all around Center who played for Halifax, his skill set is similar to Fertitta’s he brings good chem and skill to this bright Riga team. Also I’m the first round, Riga selected Sirkants Klamasteris, a goalie who played for Ottawa this past season, he had a .889 save percentage and a sub 3 GAA, which is very good stats for a goalie at age 25. In round 2 the Reign had back to back to back picks, selecting Justin Lose, Linus Zetterstrom, and Artair McCloud. Overall 3 very smart picks, all players seem to be very active and strong base players which help build the core of the Reign team. In the 3rd and 4th the Reign went with Isau Damoose, Teppo McBighit, Andy Nexber, Connor Sim, and Liam Fischl. Riga’s draft continued to take many players to create a great pool of prospects to bolster a strong start to the draft. The remainer of the draft, Riga’s GM focused on taking players who showed activity throughout the season, along with Matt Sovick Jr. A galore who also played for the Marauders the past season, continuing to grow a championship atmosphere in the locker room. Overall the Riga Reign had an amazing draft, which hopefully will continue to push a successful rebuild through activity in the locker room and on the portal.

  14. My time with the Miami Marauders, although very short as I joined halfway through the season, has been very enjoyable because the entire atmosphere of the team, and the people throughout the league as a whole, is very welcoming and helpful. There has not been a single person who I have encountered that has been rude or in any way mean, everyone is nice and makes participating in the league feel like you’re actually a part of something more than just a sim. My teammates and the management are all active and focused on developing the team and making sure we keep updating and upgrading our players, as well as staying active in the chat and being friendly. Overall there is just so much to do to keep you invested in the team and your player, the opportunities to do tasks to upgrade keeps you wanting to do something to increase your player, which makes it satisfying to see the work pay off in the sim.

Now that my team is in the playoffs, it’s awesome to be able to see results daily and be excited or disappointed when your team wins or loses. When we pulled the massive upset on Halifax in the first round, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little bit excited and happy when the discord chat started going crazy when we won. Now, where there’s a tight series with the Aces, it’s gonna be legitimately nerve wracking waiting for the results as the next game might be the last time that I get to play for the Marauders, or the last time playing with some of the players that might be moving up to the VHL or the ones that might get drafted by other teams in the next VHLM draft. As I play junior hockey in real life, this feeling is one I get for real as I’ve had good buddies traded to other teams and I have teammates who are gonna be gone at the end of the year. I feel pride in my team as we worked hard to be in the position we’re in now, we battled into the playoffs and we battled to beat Halifax, and now we’ll battle to beat LV tomorrow.

Overall the experience I’ve had with the VHL as of right now is very positive, people like Ricer and Z and really the whole team have been very welcoming to me and all the other guys who joined late into the season. The VHL is a great league with a bunch of amazing people who make you feel right at home when you join the league, which really makes you wanna keep coming back every day to continue gaining TPE to help your team improve and win more. I couldn’t say enough things to explain just how fun being apart of this league is, the community that has been built is very strong and I’m glad that I became a part of it

Hey everyone! As the Recruitment Leader it is my job and the recruitment teams job to make sure we can acquire new members for the site, however looking at recruitment there are two major components.

    1. Getting new members to register. (Recruitment)

    2. Keeping them here so they feel like their initial start up and VHL ignorance will pay off at some point. (Retainment)

So with current Recruitment Drives and incentives out there for people to low up on TPE and in turn loading up our site with valuable members, it's time we take a look at steps to achieve the 2nd Component.

As of today, Any S61 Draftee (anyone in the upcoming VHL Draft) or newer player who is a First Generation player may claim 10 TPE upon reaching the 100 TPE plateau. The purpose of this TPE is to reward you for getting to a stage where TPE earning is mostly understood on a weekly basis. This is also available to returning members starting without carryover, who have not had a player in the league for at least 3 seasons.

As we know many new members create a player and fizzle out after a couple weeks for various reasons. Those reasons could be that they are frustrated with how to actually be successful, feel like their player doesn't make a dent in the sim engine or they strictly do not understand how to use resources around the site to earn TPE. This also works hand-in-hand with VHLM GM's who can instruct their players even more in hopes they can take advantage of the free 10 TPE at the 100 TPE plateau.

*The TPE can only be claimed after they get to 100 TPE, not to be claimed to make it to 100 TPE.

ex. (90 TPE doesnt make this claim valid)

    5. What is the most boring sport to watch and why?

    6. Are you a dog or cat person? Do you have any pets?

    1. I think we can, we were on a great win streak but the past couple days have been a bit tougher. We’ll get back on track
    2. Just overall the new people we’ve brought in give us a lot of depth for the future
    3. Defense, it’s the biggest team need right now
    4. I wouldn’t change the name, the name is sick
    5. Soccer, the sport is 90% passing back and forth. I do like fifa tho because it’s faster paced than the actual game
    6. Dog person definitely, I have 2 dogs and 2 cats

Press Conference questions for week end Oct 11 2020

    1. It’s been a crazy few days with the vhl recruitment drive, how do you feel about all the new additions to the team?

    2. How much TPE do you plan to earn each week? Give me a quick breakdown.

    3. Miami sits 11 points back of 8th place with half a season to go. Can they make up ground and push for that 8th spot?

    4. Do you think Miami should make any moves before the trade deadline?

    Get to know ya questions:

    5. We have a ton of new faces and I love to know where everyone’s allegiances lie when it comes to the NHL. Who is your favourite hockey team?

    6. Piggy backing off the last question which team or teams in the NHL do you despise?

    1. As one of the new additions, I’m really liking the group of players that we have here in Miami

    2. It’s my first week here in the VHL but I’ve earned over 11 points so far this week. 5 for a junior review, 4 from welfare, and 2 from practice

    3. Yes we can, we just picked up 2 big wins against Saskatoon and San Diego and I could see the boys push it into a new gear and really surprise the entire league

    4. We could pick up a D-Man possibly, I think we’re pretty short only having 3 defensemen

    5. Buffalo Sabres without a doubt

    6. Toronto, Boston, Dallas

  18. Nikolas D’Andrea is a 16 year old American forward, growing up as mostly a football and baseball player, Hockey was never his priority as a sport, until one day his father made him choose between football and hockey, in which Nik shocked his entire family as he chose hockey as the game he wanted to dedicate his life to. Now with his tremendous size at 6’3, 190lbs as a 16 year old, he is primed to continue to grow as a player and become a dominant force in the league for years to come. Before signing a free agent contract with the Miami Marauders of the VHLM, D’Andrea spent some time playing with the Buffalo Thunder of the USPHL Premier division.
He practiced and played there until one day he saw a flyer saying that a new pro league had open roster spots, which he knew he had to take a shot at. When he first signed his contract he was quoted saying, “I never thought this day would come, it’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to step on the ice for my first pro hockey game.” D’Andrea started playing hockey at the age of 11 for a local travel team and kept improving from there, he was constantly doubted around his ability to skate and score, but after spending the lockdown training as hard as he could, he greatly improved whatever the doubters criticized him for. When asked what he would spend his first paycheck on, he said, “I’m gonna buy a pizza and a new car, then invest whatever I have left” D’Andrea is described as having a very confident demeanor and isn’t afraid to tell jokes or spend a night going out with the boys, he’s a real team spirit who everyone can go to to get a quick laugh to pick themselves up when they’re having a rough game or practice.

    Welcome @Nikdandrea34
I'm Zetterberg the AGM of The Miami Marauders. And we want you to join our roster of players.

We have a plan in place to make the playoffs but we need players to do it.

You would be getting loads of minutes and you'll be put in the best place possible to rack up a ton of points.

So if you're interested in joining us in Miami quote this post with "accept" and we'll get your player suited up and ready to go in our next game.
Something to keep in mind, We are a re-builder so if you sign with a more competitive team you won't be getting

nearly as much minutes or points as you would with Miami while still potentially having a go at playoffs.
