eaglesfan036 reacted to d3vilsfire in Claimed:Moscow Red Wolves in Season 38
Since the start of his tenure as GM of the Moscow Red Wolves, GM Bruce Wayne has said that Season 38 would be Moscow’s year to shine. No one believed him as the Vasteras IK J20 (the team that Bruce Wayne inherited before having them move to Moscow, Russia) were almost as bad as the VHL team in the same city. Vasteras was a joke and was known for being a bottom feeder. Therefore, when Moscow said their goal was to shine in Season 38, everyone just laughed. VHLM fans called it a public relations stunt in order to draw more money from local fans and to make it seem like a makeover really changed things.

Going through Season 37, everyone was laughing at Bruce Wayne. Sure he said that the turn of the franchise was going to happen in Season 38, but Season 37 was so horrendous that it seemed like too much of a stretch to see a bottom feeder turn into a playoff or even a cup contender. However, Wayne knew that the key to succeeding was scoring well in the draft. Building up his draft picks, he hoped and prayed that the Season 38 VHLM Dispersal Draft was going to be a good one. Possessing the 3rd overall and the 8th overall in the draft, Moscow was in a position to inflict serious damage.

Although the 3rd overall choice was a dozy for Moscow, in that picking Seth Rollins was a major stretch, Wayne “recovered” by drafting Steve Tremblay with the 8th overall. After having a relatively average draft following the first round (save G Jose Canseco who was an excellent pick in the second round) where Moscow really addressed forwards and forward depth, fans and critics were not sure of what to think of the new Red Wolves. After losing top point producer Boone Cassidy, Wayne was in a position of replacing talent rather than adding talent to talent. This among the relatively average forwards and lack of defense fueled the rumors that Wayne would not be able to hold his promise with the fans.

It did not help that Moscow started Season 38 very poorly and was surely not going to go to playoffs on that track much less be a contender. Instead of panicking, Wayne simply decided to make a line-up change, and boom! A miracle happened. Moscow began to win game after game. Currently sitting in 2nd place in the European Conference, Moscow is currently in a playoff position and is improving itself as their players mature and become stronger. Moscow team captain and highly touted Cologne Express forward prospect Steve Tremblay is leading the way for Moscow 24 goals and 43 points in 17 games. His contribution to the team is invaluable and has truly helped Moscow achieve its goals. Defenseman Dale Kent is also helping Moscow offensively while being a strong defenseman. Kent currently has 22 assists and no goals in 17 games. Forward Seth Rollins is also contributing to the team even though his production is nowhere close to that of Steve Tremblay with 10 goals and 15 points in 17 games. Goalie Jose Canseco has also held the Moscow Red Wolves together, although his stats could possibly be better, 10-7-0 in 17 games, .872 save percentage, 4.21 goals against average. Not all-star numbers, but his stats are improving, and that is really all you can hope for as Moscow is also improving.

So will Moscow shine in Season 38 like GM Bruce Wayne said they would be? Only time will tell, but this could be a nice history change for the former Vasteras franchise.

P.S.: Shout-out to Eagles who was sad that there was no mention of him last article. Eagles,I think we should consider switching spots on the line-up. I have more goals than you and you have 98 scoring. SMH

P.S.S.: Shout-out to Draper. Just do what you do bro.

Content: 3/3 - Yukon 2 gud! I agree with you that Yukon and Brampton will be very close this season, with Yukon having a few VHLM superstars while Brampton will be more balanced and with more depth. I found it interesting that you put Ottawa in the final playoff spot, they could ceratinly make it if their players continue to develop. It will be interesting to see what Minot does this season, as they are in a position where they could probably make the final playoff spot or trade off their resources for the future.

VHLM Standing Predictions - North America

Season 38 has just begun here in the VHLM, and so begins another exciting couple of months. This year could be a very exciting one, as we have several heavily competitive teams spread across the entire league. With the season just getting underway, what better time to throw out some wild and crazy predictions? This week, I am going to be going over my predictions for how the standings will play out in the North American Conference. In coming weeks, expect to see predictions for the European Conference, and maybe even some predictions for individual leaders. Anyways, let's get started.

    1. Yukon Rush

I believe that the race for the number one spot in North America will be a very, very close on between Yukon and Brampton. If it weren't for Yukon acquiring up and coming goaltender Brock Waldron with the first overall pick of the Season 38 VHLM Dispersal Draft, I would have went with Brampton here. Additionally, Yukon has other young developers such as Kayle Kuzie, as well as more experienced players like Don Draper and Bennet Wahl. Brampton is an extremely strong team, however, if Waldron and the rest of the Yukon squad keep developing at the rate they have been, I think Yukon will be able to squeak by them and take first in the conference.

    2. Brampton Blades

This one is really given. If Brampton isn't here at second overall, they will first overall. Brampton's incredible strength ultimately comes from a very successful Season 38 Dispersal Draft. At the second overall pick, they were able to pick up Tyson Stokes; a player represented by the famed fever95 agency. With the rest of their picks, they were able to pick up other fantastic players such as Tyrone Williams, Hunter and Hudson Backenbauer, and Daniel Acker. To put the icing on the cake, Brampton was able to claim tough-guy and intimidation factor Sam Keeler on the waiver wire. Brampton has an extremely young roster, for the most part, and that is the reason I placed them second instead of first. I simply think that the more experienced Yukon roster with edge the Blades out of first.

    3. Ottawa Lynx

Season 37 was, without question, quite a disappointment for the Lynx. Fortunately, things are looking a lot more promising for them this season. Although they traded their first round pick, which would have been first overall, to the Yukon Rush during the off-season, the Lynx still managed to pick up some extremely promising players in this seasons Dispersal Draft. First, a winger who has shown incredible drive and determination, Andrew Erikson. Following that, they picked up the equally driven Andrej Hasek, Mike McGratten, and Daniel Raseri. I am placing the Lynx above the Wild and the Gladiators largely due to the quick rate at which their roster is developing.

    4. Saskatoon Wild

Season 38 will be Saskatoon's first full season under the leadership of General Manager Brett Slobodzian, who was appointed near the end of last season following the stepping down of previous General Manager James. Unfortunately, Slobodzian seems to have been left with a mess worthy of a mop, yet only a broom to clean it up with. The Wild did pick up some quality players such as Lights Bokan, Mikkel Boomgarden, and Devin Sundberg. Despite their drafting success, I don't think they will have what it takes to surpass the quickly developing Lynx roster.

    5. Minot Gladiators

Minot is another organization that is still transitioning after a leadership change. Just a day before the Dispersal Draft, Davey Jones announced his intentions to step down as General Manager. At the request of Jones, veteran General Manager InstantRockstar was selected to take over the helm of Minot. Sadly, he was left with a slowly developing roster and not a whole lot to work with. The Gladiators do have a few notable players, such as Chris Raymond, but certainly not enough to compete. I expect Minot to sell off assets this season, which is why I am predicting them for last place in the North American Conference.

eaglesfan036 reacted to Will in Draper learning a lot as AGM
Donald Draper has been the Assistant GM of the Yukon Rush, under GM Austin Gow, since around the middle of last season. Draper was being considered as a candidate to take over the Saskatoon Wild position, but was ultimately passed over in favor of veteran GM Slobo.

"You know, to be honest, I am actually glad I didn't get that job. After it was given to Slobo, Mr. Gow really noticed the interest that I have in becoming a GM and he has really taught me a lot," Draper said.

In recent weeks we have seen Draper acting on Mr. Gow's behalf on several occasions; making free agency claims, waiver claims, and it is even rumored that he has been playing a part in setting the lines for the Rush.

With such a fantabulous GM showing him the ropes, there is no doubt that Draper will make a great GM someday.

Since this is a boring old XM radio, I'm not going to bother researching all the drafts and stuff. However, it seems to me as though the past few drafts (S37 and S38) both VHLM and VHL have held a lot more talent than usual. This is a testament to a lot of our new first gens, as every draft has a handful of recreates that are guaranteed to be good. However, there have been a ton of first gens lately who have made these drafts really deep and have provided a lot of talent. I think a lot of this may be attributed to our new emphasis on recruiting, our slight revamping of the VHLM, and the new website functioning well. These first gens also bring some cool and interesting personalities that spice up the league. First gens, keep up the good work! I feel as though we spend a lot of time giving constructive criticism as everyone is always looking to improve the VHL, but I think now is a good time to step back and look at how successful everything is. Well done everyone

Also, I know Squinty. Devilsfire, and Draper always read these, so here is my shoutout to you guys. Squinty come back and recreate! Draper, keep practicing at NHL. Devilsfire, you are a silly confederate.

I found another good website for us to advertise on:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/2000212-sports-and-racing-hockey

I made a topic talking about the VHL on the website and pretty much copied and pasted what we have for our advertising on hockeysfuture.

    http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/2000212-sports-and-racing-hockey/69259483#3

I've been going to gamefaqs for a while, and their sports and racing football and hockey boards seem like they have some generally cool knowledgeable people so why not recruit here

The topic has already gotten one recruit in Syraz. Only problem is I'm not sure what Gamefaq's rules are with advertising so this may get taken down.
