Who Really Is John Callahan Jr?? (An Introduction)

Holly's an old flame of mine... -
For all of you who don't know who John Callahan Jr is, he is currently a player for the Mexico City Kings and a prospect for the Toronto Legion, he was formally part of the Philadelphia Reapers. Some call him an international journeyman, some call him a man of mystery, and some call him...Jack Eichel. Yes, that Jack Eichel. The captain of the Buffalo Sabres and one of the best players in the NHL today. Before we dive into all of that I wanted to do a quick little background on the player John Callahan Jr. Callahan Jr grew up about 40 miles outside of Boston, MA in a town called Nashua. NH. His local hockey rink was Skate 3 in Tyngsboro, MA where he began playing in-house mites at 3 years old. Coaches quickly realized John was one of the better players on the ice and quickly talked to his parents about playing select hockey. His first select team he played for was the Dual State Huskies. He played for the Huskies until he made the switch to the Boston Jr. Bruins and played there for the remainder of his amateur hockey career. He wasn't sure that he was ready for the big leagues yet, so he did one season at Boston University. After having a successful season at Boston University, he knew he was ready for the VHL/VHLM. Since the VHL/VHLM already started season 74 he knew he would have to be a waiver pick up and be drafted in S75. In S74 he was recruited and picked up by the Philadelphia Reapers where he stayed for the rest of S74. Callahan Jr gained a lot of knowledge under Philly's GM Dmaximus and grew fond of their GM with his time there. Callahan Jr credits his love for the VHL/VHLM is because of Dmax. Sadly, all good things have to come to an end knowing he might not go back to Philadelphia made Callahan Jr a little uneasy but he knew wherever he went he could hit it off with the locker room and he got lucky when he got drafted to Mexico City. Another waiver pick up from Philly also went to Mexico City (Justin Lose) and those two hit it off in Philly making the transition that much easier. Season 75 is set to start off tomorrow and next week we will pick back up on how Callahan Jr is doing in Mexico City... Now there has been some discussion about John Callahan Jr actually being Jack Eichel. I mean right off the bat both of their league photo's look exactly the same. It's almost hard to distinguish the two... the first picture is of John Callahan Jr when he was first picked up on waivers by the Philadelphia Reapers and the second picture is last year's picture of Jack Eichel of the Buffalo Sabres. . I mean they look EXACTLY alike. Could Jack be sick of playing for the Buffalo Sabres and is secretly using an alias to play in another league where he actually might win a championship? Has Callahan Jr been a disguise all along for Eichel? There are so many questions left unanswered and, in these articles, we will finally be able to track down WHO John Callahan Jr actually is. I am doing as much research as I can to possibly track down who this man of mystery really is and get to the bottom of this mystery. Until next week... 579 words.

As a past Reaper this was a great read. DMax taught me everything I know about the VHL and the VHLM. You're in good hands and on an incredibly talented team this year that will surely go deep into the playoffs. Don't think for a second you can't make an impact on the Reapers especially with Dmax great ability to change up the lines to see what works and what doesn't. Excited to see how you perform this season. I would love to see a mid-season review of your player, definitely include stats, pros and cons, and what you think you need to focus on for the rest of the season. 10/10

Overall this was fun reading this not only as your teammate in Mexico but as a friend who wants to see you succeed at the highest level. I can see where your concern is with the winger situation in Riga but if I know you and I think I do, I think you'll beat all expectations and be one helluva VHL player for Riga. I'm excited to see a mid-season statement from you on your situation with Mexico, Riga, and your overall expectations. 10/10

1.) I am extremely excited to get the season underway. I cant wait to get back on the ice! 2. I need to keep training and help the team win games. If I can help out offensively, that is all I care about. I want to get goals for this team. 3.) Teamwork, we have an excellent core of a team. If we all work together we are absolutely going to make a deep playoff run. 4.) Justin Lose and I came over from Philly. We got really close over there and it's stayed the same way over here in Mexico City! And let me tell you Justin has gotten REALLY good. 5.) Oh man, I've been watching Letterkenny...I need to keep practicing my chirps. Reilly and Jonesy are the best so I've learned a lot. 6.) Boston, I still have no idea why theres no team in Boston. Thats basically the birthplace of hockey in the US.

Absolutely loved reading this. I'm a first gen-player and when I got drafted last night to Toronto (29th overall) I was ecstatic. It was great reading about your daily routine and your nerves/excitement for draft day as I had the same! I thought your writing style was great, adding in some fresh ideas, and having your parents there as a whole must have been quite the feeling. Looking forward to reading more of your posts! 10/10

Definitely a big fan of this topic and was wondering when someone was going to talk about it. It's interesting because I see both sides, people who are max earning every week and people who are using welfare because of time restraints. It would be wild to see when a player is at a certain TPE the welfare goes down by 1 or 2 TPE so they can't just ride it out. While on the other hand some people are very into the VHL but sometimes can't make the time commitments for some of the other tasks. I'm wondering if there have been other weekly jobs added that maybe only get you 1 TPE but take a shorter amount of time (like reviewing). Regardless, loved reading this and thought it was super insightful. 10/10

1.) I think we have a great chance at the Cup next season. The draft went incredibly well we will definitely be making a long playoff run. 2.) Halifax should still be pretty tough to beat. Philadelphia had a great draft as well but I also think Miami will also make a deep play off run again. 3.) I did watch the VHLM draft and I'd have to say the biggest steal of the draft is myself. My inconsistent TPE earning in my early days in the VHLM confused a lot of GM's but Mexico had the right idea. I certainly know how to max earn each week now. 4.) Getting in a great pre-season and working on our team chemistry. We get that down and we're solid for next season. 5.) I've been training every week on my skating and scoring. I had a week vacation in the Bahamas and thats really the only time I've taken off. 6.) Like I said before, I definitely did. Besides the one vacation week. I was training every week and absolutely can't wait to get back on the ice on my new team.

Dmax finally taught me how to max earn. Things looking good for the future lmfao

Hey, I too am a very new VHLer/VHLM-er and just finished my season with the Philadelphia Reapers. We might not have made the playoffs this year but I absolutely agree with you, I had a blast the entire way. I was completely blown away with how great the VHL is and how it took me so long to find a sim league like this. Regardless of missing the playoffs I can't wait to get my first full season under my belt. I really liked reading this but some spacing would have made this post that much catchier and a little bit easier to read. Adding a picture below of your player would have been great too! 8/10

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and thought this was very thought out. Like tfong said above it does look a bit clumped together and it would have looked perfect. I'd love to see a first round analysis in the future to see where you think the top players will go in the VHLM. Overall awesome little article to read and I'd love to see more. 9/10

1.) The skills I'm definitely working on is my skating. I've been working one on one with my trainer back in New Hampshire on my skating skills to get my skating up. While also working on my stick handling. As a shooter, I need to be able to keep the puck on my stick and get it to the net. 2.) Miami, I'm watching the games absolutely. Sadly, I wish we were playing the games but hey the rest is always nice. 3.) I'm definitely watching. I think Vancouver will win. They look great and I think they will be able to bring home the cup. 4.) I'm currently watching Letterkenny. This show cracks me up and I'm a big fan of Jonesy. 5.) Oh I mean I'd bring my hockey skates. We all know Happy Gilmore tried to stab a guy with their hockey skates...so I'll do the same thing as the legend himself. 6.) A fencer. That person already knows how to use a sword. That would be one tough battle. -

1.) First of all....its always tough missing the playoffs and especially to only miss it by 3 points makes it even tougher. I'm at a loss for words. I'm going to miss being with the guys in the locker room, hanging out grabbing beers on day offs. It's going to suck. Also its my first half year in the league as a waiver pick up so I might not be on the Reapers roster next year which will be pretty sad. Love these boys. 2.) I definitely need to improve. I'm a goal scorer and I didn't score that many goals this year. Next year I plan to come out firing. 3.) Well I hope to stay in Philly, but as a waiver pick-up I'll be put into the S75 VHLM dispersal draft and I might end up somewhere else. But who knows hopefully I made a good enough impression to management that I'm worth being picked up. 4.) Pizza. As I drive back to New Hampshire you bet your ass I am stopping in NYC and getting me a pie in the City. 5.) They got me my own little Philadelphia Reapers bobble head of myself! I couldn't believe it! I've never seen myself on anything like this before so it was so cool and thoughtful! 6.) I'll be at my lake house. I mean I live on an island on a lake with about a year of food so I'll be fine for a little bit but I might have to make a trip in to get more beer. -

1.) Two tough games for us in the remainder of the season but the boys have been buzzing as of late and want to finish off the season strong. Us Philly boys are going to finish strong and skate right into the playoffs. 2.) Tristy and Z have been making big plays for us offensively recently, they've been keeping the puck in the offensive zone and making sure the puck doesn't stay in our defensive zone for too long. Plus it also helps when Z has a slap shot of 100mph...that will certainly help get the puck past the keeper. 3.) Justin has been playing great, his positioning is unbelievable. He seems to always be at the right place at the right time. 4.) Personally, I like both for different reasons. Home games are great to play in front of the home fans and feeling that energy where as away games I like to travel. I love going to different rinks and different parts of the country and see the growth of the game of hockey. 5.) Theres nothing like swinging a hockey stick or 9 iron through a TV. The fact that Dmax actually LIKED the rage room idea is unbelievable and its clearly been working because our play recently has been great. 6.) Left Twix. I'm a Left Winger and I'm a lefty in all other sports. I gotta stick to what I know. -

1. Fine with the roster the guys seem to be improving and hoping to have a good push into the playoffs 2. Ice time has been slim with a full roster but I'm hoping to keep working hard and moving up in the roster. 3. Tristy gets pucks on net plain and simple. keeps em low and allows to for great rebounds for the boys up front. 4. Grachev is a mad man. He'll get in front of anything to be honest. In the locker room he was telling me when he was growing up his dad would shoot pucks at him without pads on to "toughen him up" and the crazy thing is, I believe it. 5. I don't pay too much attention to the VHL at the moment. I've been focused on my training and keeping the Reapers in a nice playoff spot. The team comes first. 6. Jack Eichel, his snap shot is the quickest I've seen in a long time. I need to get to that level -
+10 John Callahan Jr

As he has only played 6 games in the VHLM, VHL Draft Prospect John Callahan Jr. is excited about the opportunity to get drafted into the VHL. He is quickly going up the draft ranks and excelling each week with more practice and ice time. He is currently playing on the 4th line on the Philadelphia Reapers in hopes to get more shifts in the coming time. Though he hasn’t had a single point yet in his career but his rapid growth in the last couple games seems there will be an upside in his game play. It should be an exciting rest of the VHLM season for Callahan Jr and the Philadelphia Reapers as they are in a playoff spot and looking to make a big impact and go for the championship. He is loving his time as a professional in the VHLM and is incredibly happy that he can make his dreams of playing hockey professionally a dream come true. Even though the first 6 games for Callahan Jr have been slow his scoring and puck handling have vastly improved in those games making him a viable threat especially playing against other 4th liners. He started out his career in the VHLM with only 74 TPE and now has risen drastically to 93 TPE in those 6 games. With the rise in Callahan Jr’s TPE this will show VHL GM’s his dedication to playing in the league and continuing his career in hoping to be a world class VHL player. Callahan Jr’s puck handling and skating have been increasing weekly which will bring more opportunities to get the puck into the zone and on net. While some of his other pro’s are his scoring. His shooting and scoring ability has also dramatically increased and he hopes that this will keep improving as he plays more games and gets ice time. Only time will tell to see if his hard work will actually pay off in games! Even though there seems to be a positive upside with Callahan Jr’s play and growth as a player he does have some con’s that he needs to work on. His physical play definitely needs some work. Though he coins himself as more of a “finesse” player his checking and physical play could use some work. He would rather play the puck than the body in some situations where the body would have done a better job. Adding to that his defense can also improve, as of right now he seems to be very offensive minded but given that he's only played select games in the VHLM, his defensive abilities will rise and his draft stock will rise along with it.

Hey everyone, Excited to finally hear about a great hockey sim online. I'm obviously very new but I'm eager to start and be active every day. If any of the older members out there could help a new draftee out, I'd absolutely appreciate it. Thanks! Callahan
