A long career will finally come to an end after this season. Donny Carter went up in front of the Vancouver media to make a statement after their 4-1 win vs Helsinki. He was smiling as he approached the microphone to answer some questions for his first interview in a few weeks. Peter Griffin : Donny, great game today, it's great to see you fitting into the team here in Vancouver! Donny Carter : Thank you, and yeah I'm having a great time here. It's nice to just be able to fit in and contribute, be kind of a veteran voice here on the team you know? Rick Sanchez : Speaking of veteran voice, will we see you again next season? Carter : That's definitely something I've wanted to talk about. It's getting to that time in my career when I have to think about my future, I have kids to care for and to be with them while they grow up. You know, I'm getting old. I think this will be the last year. I really hope we can go on a run here, it'd be nice to go out on top of the mountain. I'm not going to look too far ahead though. We have a fight for a playoff spot first. But to go back to your question, I think this is my final year. Joe Smith : Donny could you talk about that pass you made to set up the first goal? Carter : Sure Joe, I... So there you have it, Carter's journeyman career will come to an end after this year. It's been a great career for the underrated two way forward, and there will definitely be a more in depth story to go over it once his season ends. Just looking at the end of this season and what's ahead for the veteran, it will be a tough run. Vancouver is currently tied up in a battle with the DC Dragons for the 3rd seed. The winner of that battle may not matter all that much, just looking at the playoff matchups for either seed. DC and Vancouver will have to play one of Calgary or Chicago, the two best teams in the league. A tall task for either team. However for Vancouver it's not impossible, especially seeing the amount of star power Vancouver has. Led by the superstars Alexandre Leduc and mid-season acquisition Sergey Preobrazhensky, with elite defensemen Biggie Cheese and Pierre Emile Bouchard holding the blue line strong, and anchored by the talented Brandt Fuhr in the crease, along with some great offensive depth and veterans like Carter, the Wolves have a very strong team, and should be able to put together a solid fight when the playoffs start. Will they be able to win? That question will be answered soon, but if Vancouver continues to win and hit their stride late season, all that needs to be done is to ride the lightning into the playoffs. For Donny Carter, it's the last chance for a cup, and there's no doubt he's going to give it his all. Word Count : 511 For Week of 12/18

1. I can only hope this trade makes the team better, obviously a slow start for Donny but I'm really hoping he can pick it up and show why he was traded for. 2. We just gotta get some chemistry going, and once players (like Carter) stop slumping I think things will go better. 3. I just got here so obviously I didn't know Nico too well, but he definitely seemed like an important part of the team. However I'm really excited to get opportunities with Sergey, and to kind of build a good locker room with him and the other veterans. 4. Maybe to add a defenseman, but honestly we just need to let the team chemistry grow now and hope it's enough. 5. I'm going to be optimistic here, we will make the playoffs, mark it down! 6. I think the answer is smoke but I definitely could be wrong. -

1. I know I had an overtime winner in an important game, either that or beating Riga in the first round. 2. Other than Davos I'd like to see Riga win. 3. Stay relevant and be ready to have a comeback season. 4. Vinny Detroit probably, lots of good performances though. 5. Probably offensive depth, but we'll get that through players like Dynamite getting better so really we just fix from the inside. 6. I don't want to talk about it. -

1. Really cool to go up against my old team, especially in such a competitive series. 2. Writing this after the series happened, our chances look really good. 3. Yes. We also swept Moscow in the next round so the 5 seeds are going strong. Oh I read the paper wrong, dang it. 4. Yep, not a whole lot but just a bunch of small stuff based on the pregame routine. 5. No, I haven't even been online since Monday because I was away. 6. A combination of True and Bauer. -

1. I'm nervous, it's gonna be weird facing my old team in the first round. 2. Meh, not really. Had a great season last year and just didn't really live up to it here. 3. Donny Carter is a big game performer, regular season stats don't matter now and in the playoffs Donny is dialed in. 4. Chicago is gonna do some damage. 5. Mac and cheese and chocolate milk gets the job done. 6. You have x-ray vision but you can only see through one layer of atoms at a time. -

1. I think fate is wanting me to go up against my old team in the playoffs, how typical. 2. No I didn't but huge congrats to Vinny, not that I'm surprised, absolute beast of a player. 3. Man I really didn't pay attention. That's a huge trade and kind of worrying if I'm not going to lie. 4. Honestly, DC went way above my expectations, so I'd say them. 5. Insanity, super happy because Florida got worse and that makes the Bruins tough path to a playoff spot a bit easier, great for the Flames if both guys resign. 6. Fork, it's just what I've always used. -
Coming in clutch this week, writing this with under 2 hours until midnight on Sunday and was having kind of a tough time thinking about what I would write about looking to how the VHL was 15. I joined right after the S78 draft, so I am a super new player, though I'm older than the VHLE, and was among the first generation to experience it. That was a crazy season, and honestly this whole career and experience have been crazy. I've enjoyed these 6 and a half seasons a ton so far, and I want to be a part of the VHL to see how it changes over the next 15 years. That's what I kind of want to talk about. Not knowing a ton about the past and not really having a ton of time to research it, I'm thinking on my feet and looking at some things that the VHL could have by the time 2037 comes around. At least hoping the league is still around by then. So I've got a few ideas or speculations to think about now. So yeah. Improved App: It's no secret that while the VHL app is not a bad app in the slightest, and props to whoever made it a thing in the first place, it definitely could be improved. I think in 15 years we could see the app evolve into a full center of operations. Members could be doing the VHL solely from their phones and, (leading into my next point) it would be stylistically revamped to attract new members straight from the app store. New Style: To help make the VHL more intriguing to others, we can utilize the amazing graphic design talent that we have here in the VHL community and help to make a very cool design, and I think a new design for the website and app could come over the next 15 years. Expansion Teams: I think the number of teams in at least one of the leagues is going to be needing to be sized up to fit all the players. The VHLE might be the first to get expanded, being the smallest of the 3, but we could also see a major league expansion, maybe a new team to each conference as the player base rises. Then again, 15 years is a long time and it could be a lot more than just two new teams. Looking back, it's crazy to think it's come this far. And even in the small amount of time since I've been here, the VHL has changed a ton, like I said adding the VHLE, the TPE system was revamped and completely changed, there's been a ton going on and I only think that more could happen and all of it would be good. I'm so excited to be a part of the VHL's history in the coming years and hopefully in 15 more we'll be able to continue to upgrade the league and make it a great place for hockey fans all over the internet. 1. Covid started lmao, I had my 15th birthday with a bunch of industrial fans after my dishwasher spilled and friends came to say hi from my driveway. 2. This Donny Carter guy needs to pull his weight if I'm being honest. 3. All the management and commissioners and people running it have been so instrumental in making this a special place. 4. Well less signings and more Chicago just not resigning any young talent. That was pretty weird to me. 5. Just hanging with friends, anywhere is fine. 6. No. Water makes things wet, but it itself is not wet. -
Happy birthday VHL!

1. Props to all three, but I think Chara is our MVP so far, been a leader on and off the ice. 2. Dirty Water by the Standells 3. No clue, pucks started going in the net is my best guess. 4. Kemell easily, no clue how he wasn't top 10. 5. Beach resort in the winter, because it's not 200 degrees there like it is in the summer. 6. Yes and I will die on this hill. -

1. The offense is not going and I think we just gotta get some bounces and get some confidence. 2. Donny Carter has surprised everyone with being a ghost. A ghost on skates is surprising enough but even a ghost should be able to score with the talent on its line. 3. I think Warsaw crashes hard at some point. 4. More opportunities to earn TPE. Maybe an offseason predictions thing. How many trades will there be, where will free agents end up, who goes first in the draft, etc. 5. I hope so, but I don't think so. It's Tampa, they will manage to do something to stay in cup contention. 6. C a l e M a k a r. The second coming of Bobby Orr. Come to Boston Cale. We have the best- ah it's not going to happen. -
