The Swiss defender still needs to learn the balance between playing hard and playing smart. He is now embarking his next chapter of his career and join the New York Americans. There is a dose of uncertainty on that part though, as the longstanding GM Thadeus Sales has resigned due to private reasons. As of writing this article, the owners of the franchise have not yet appointed a successor and hence it is unclear whether the existing squad and prospects will be kept or whether the new person in charge will tear everything down and rebuild with players of their choosing. Alas, there is nothing that Cal can influence on the matter and so he prepares to be playing for New York next season alongside Rin Kagamine. Until then he will compete with the Santa's Naughty Elves in the ProAm tournament alongside his HOF Dad, it will be interesting to see how they gel on the ice and how far they can bring their team. It is a good opportunity to meet other players from retirees to VHL veterans to VHLM rookies. It is the equivalent to the Spengler Cup held in the last week of every year in Davos. He plans to take advantage of the experience assembled on this prestigious tournament and to improve on his skating in particular and his skills in general. He has spent a few days in the big apple to get his bearings, clock the time it takes him to get to MSG with the public transportation or on the bike. He visited the Central Park Zoo, the Museum of Modern Arts and the USS Intrepid. He went to Katz's and to the Rockefeller Center to see the famous Christmas tree. He paid a visit to Liberty Island and enjoyed the architecture of the Grand Central Station. Callum also started to put furniture into his flat in Mulberry Street and put in some food in the fridge, in case his flat mate Rin would arrive during his absence. He alread installed the router for the internet and television, got all the sports subscriptions and signed up for Netflix and all the other streaming services, so that Rin can watch her favourite shows between practice. The Americans rookie-to-be also pencilled in some visits to his uncle for fishing trips or just some get-togethers. Callum will for sure not get bored in the city that never sleeps. Callum has signed up for the ProAm Tournament and was called by his Manager Johnny Elgar to report for duty at 0700 sharp at the Santa's Naughty Elves Arena. The Swiss defender arrived early at 0645 expecting to be the first in the locker room. To his utter surprise, the lights were already on and a fully geared player was already putting stuff back in his locker. The silhouette looked familiar and the number 22 on the jersey raised high suspicions of who this player could be. Before he could even greet the 'stranger', same said without turning around: 'Good Morning, son. I expected you five minutes ago.' 'Morning Dad. I forgot to pack my shit last night, so I departed seven minutes later. How are you doing?' 'As you see me Cal. Fit enough to play some hockey.'
