  9. 1. Sergey has been rightfully selected to the World Cup, so of course that'll take most of his time during the offseason 2. I say it's a nice pickup, Moscow's veteran core is slowly fading away. It's time to draft for the future and that starts with a goaltender. 3. For sure it would be Spartan taking on VHLM commish with Gustav 4. We are definitely still in a position to win the Continental Cup, no need to worry. 5. I have all my games marked on the calendar, Sergey is ready to beat the living hell out of anyone that stands in his way. 6. Of course, free TPE is always something I'll participate in
  10. Sergey Gets the Call Moscow- Some exciting news came up a few days ago that the Russian Center, Sergey Preobrazhensky would be participating in the Hockey World Cup for team East Europe. Having the opportunity to represent his country while playing alongside some of the greatest players the VHL has to offer. Sergey was able to talk to us on the ice while getting ready to face the competition. Reporter: Hello Sergey, once again you’ve been selected into the World Cup once again for Eastern Europe. How much does this mean to you? Sergey: “You already know it means a ton for myself. I know that I’ve been one of the hardest workers in the VHL, and having my name called out on one of the roster spots for Eastern Europe tells me I’m doing something right. Going into the offseason, I really didn’t put too much attention on the upcoming World Cup but now that I’ve been selected, this tournament will mean everything for me. ” Reporter: “Team Eastern Europe sure has a ton of talent. Including a number of Russian players, I’m sure you’ve took inspiration from some of them when you started out, how does it finally feel to meet and actually play with these players” Sergey: “Oh it’s going to be a very big deal. These players are talked about heavily in Russia, you could say that some of them are even national celebrities of Russia. Being able to play with all of them is a dream come true for a guy like me. I know for a fact that we’ll be able to make some magic happen together.” Reporter: “How did being called to play in the World Cup affect your offseason plan?” Sergey: “Being on the World Cup team definitely changed my plans nonetheless. Although I was planning to bulk up more and make some gains in the gym, I guess I will have to push those plans back for the time being. Although my offseason plans and goals mean a lot to me, the annual VHL World Cup is just something I cannot pass up on. Having more time on the ice never hurt anybody.” Reporter: “Last but not least, How do you think your team will do at the World Cup?” Sergey: “Why is this a question? This is an obvious answer, with a roster full of stars, I know for a fact that Team Eastern Europe will bring home gold. I’m looking forward to seeing such a dominant team on offense, while having a young, but underrated defense behind us. This team is going to be exciting to watch.” It’s safe to say that Sergey is looking forward to all the fun and excitement that the World Cup brings us fans and players alike. This World Cup will be something like no other, with all participating teams having a legitimate shot for gold. As the World Cup starts tomorrow, we wish all players and teams good luck on their World Cup journey!
  11. Back to the Drawing Board Moscow - After the disappointing 3-4 series loss against the Warsaw Predators, Sergey left the season once again without a cup. He, like many of his teammates knew that the only thing he could do at this point is to move on. “I admit, such a loss feels like a punch to the gut for everyone who is a part of this team. I know deep down that this team seriously had a chance to win it all, we let ourselves down when it mattered the most. But there’s always next year to look forward to, there’s always new opportunities right around the corner…” Sergey went on to stay in Russia, keeping up with his youth hockey organization. He was able to coach players one on one as he witnessed numerous teenagers blossom into fine young stars. “It’s a refreshing feeling knowing you're doing something that can make them the next great thing. Russia has a ton of extraordinary talent in ice hockey, these kids are already miles ahead of me when I was their age. The next generation of VHL talent will be absolutely mind boggling for everyone.” Next on the list for Sergey was to meet up with a few friends and family members. Although he lived near them, all the hockey work in season kept him away from others. It was a fresh breath of air for Sergey and took some much needed time off hockey. “I was met with a lot of nostalgia seeing where I grew up after all these years, meeting my close friends and family reminded me about how thankful I am for them making me the way I am today. They’ve all supported me on my journey, being a VHL player was always something I’ve dreamed about as a kid while watching games on television.” Last but not least Sergey went back on a strict training regiment with his personal trainers. One of his main goals in the offseason is to bulk up more without losing any of his speed or flexibility along the way. He was committed to going to the weightroom daily while also training on the ice. “A key part in any athlete's success is their offseason. I know that I have to put the hours in ahead of time or else I’m going to be left in the dust. I’ve made it my goal to help my team win a cup, and I’m not letting anyone stop myself from this goal.” Although Sergey and his Moscow Menace were left with a sour taste in their mouths, he quickly got back up and made sure that their series loss to Warsaw wasn’t going to drag him down and discourage what he has given up his whole life towards. Sacrificing days and weeks of his offseason to make sure he’s in even better shape than before. Soon enough, Sergey and the Moscow Menace will be back on ice in no time. But right now, it's back to the drawing board for them.
  12. Press Conference Answer these 6 questions for 2 TPE! 1. Who do you got winning the VHL Finals? Seattle or Warsaw? 2. What’s one aspect of your game that you’ve improved on this season? 3. If you could VHL one expansion team, what would the team be? 4. What’s your favourite part about the summer? 5. What is your player planning to do in the upcoming offseason? 6. Is there any sport you think is criminally underrated? @8Ovechkin8 @JigglyGumballs @Ripper @Abaddon @aimkin @Milkyway159 @Icejul@Ian Ertmann
  13. Review: Tough luck with Kauppi, overall this was incredibly fun and entertaining to read about Kaupi and his recent struggles with a new team. I love the little touches you made on the Media Spot to make it even better, the red and blue let us know who is talking while the picture at the top is the cherry on top of me. You've done a great job with this Media Spot and I look forward to seeing more out of you! 9.5/10
  14. With Their Backs Against the Wall… Moscow- After beating HC Davos Dynamo with flying colors in a four game sweep, the Moscow Menace have undergone a bit of a rough patch against their next opponent, the Warsaw Predators. Both teams have had it out for each other in the regular season, engaging in several nail-biters throughout the regular season. It should come as no surprise that this series would be a tense series full of action. What did come as a surprise for many is that currently Moscow is on the brink of elimination with Warsaw taking three games out of four. If Moscow were to be eliminated by the Predators in the Conference Finals, it would be the first time in a while that the Moscow Menace would not qualify for the Continental Cup Finals. Both fans and players of the Menace have been agitated over a possibility of an early exit. Especially with a team that performed significantly better in the regular seasons then teams in the past. We had the opportunity to talk with frequent visitor Sergey Preobrazhensky once again about the situation with Warsaw. Reporter: “Hello there Sergey, as of now you and your team are facing a 3-1 deficit against Warsaw, what do you make of this?” Sergey: “There is not much to make of it other than they’ve been able to capitalize on our mistakes. We’ve battled incredibly hard but at the end of the day, they’ve been the ones who have been able to win the close games we fought with each other.” Reporter: “Let’s talk about your individual performance so far, how satisfied are you with it?” Sergey: “I’d say I’ve had some clutch goals or assists in the series but we both know it obviously hasn’t been enough. After all, we are losing this series 3-1 for a reason. I need to step up more to make sure my team doesn’t go packing. Whether it may be taking more shots on net or being able to set up playmaking opportunities for my teammates, I’ll be needing to do what it takes.” Reporter: "What do you hope for your team in the next upcoming games with Warsaw?" Sergey: "I hope we keep our foot on the pedal, we’ve been playing good hockey up until now. But it’s time to take things up a notch, we have to remember that we are not only doing it for us. But for the fans, and the city of Moscow altogether. Now that we are playing on the brink of elimination I know that my teammates will be motivated to give it 110% on the ice. We are so much better than our opponents, and we need to start showing it." As the Moscow Menace have their backs against the wall, will they pull off a comeback victory? Or will this whole season be in vain? The whole VHL fanbase will be waiting to see what it all comes down to in the end, as the series goes back to Moscow for game five of the series.
  15. Review: Loving the different components added to this piece of work. First of all, I enjoyed the font in a bright yellow color, making it incredibly eye-catching for everyone. Choosing the black and white on both the player and the background kept giving the things with color attention and I commend you for it. The graphic looks polished and although very simple, the piece was very effective in grasping attention where it needed to, well done! 9/10
  16. Press Conference Answer these 6 questions for 2 TPE! 1. Who do you think wins it all in the VHLM playoffs? 2. Although it was a rough season for us, what was your favourite part of playing with Saskatoon? 3. It may be farther than it seems, but the VHL draft is coming up very quickly! Which VHL team would you like to be drafted to? 4. Would you rather have winter all year around or have summer all year round? 5. What’s your favourite dessert? 6. If your player didn’t play hockey, what type of job would they be into? @8Ovechkin8 @JigglyGumballs @Ripper @Abaddon @aimkin @Milkyway159 @Icejul@Ian Ertmann
  17. Review: I'm loving what I see here, first of all the color contrast between the dark black and the light blue works incredibly well together. On top of that, the font molds very welll together with the graphic and doesn't seem out of place. While the faded player cutout is amazing work that is the finishing touch on the graphic that I was looking for. Overall, you got some great talent with graphics, well done! 9.5/10
  18. Time to Shine Moscow- Finally the dust has settled, and the playoff picture has been revealed. After some thrilling wild card matches, the Moscow Menace are finally ready to play. Their first round opponent will be HC Davos Dynamo, a team who has been able to fly under the radar for the most part. But after winning a thrilling wildcard series against the tough Riga Reign team they have caught the attention of many fans around the league. It’s safe to say that this series won’t be a walk in the park for the Moscow Menace. After being able to grab the last playoff spot in the European Conference with 83 points in the regular season, the Dynamo knew they had nothing to lose and everything to gain. They had to battle it out with the Riga Reign, going down to the wire with Davos having the last laugh and winning game 5 to knock out Riga. Having a great effort from their defensive regiment to win 4-0. The Moscow Menace are the obvious front runners and favorites to win this series. They are confident that a well-renowned offense will excel against a more young and inexperienced Davos defense. Leading the way for the offense will be their captain, The Seabasstard who's having a spectacular year once again for Moscow. Being ranked 7th overall in point totals in the regular season. The Seabasstard will bring the offensive reliability that Moscow desperately needs to win this series. Moving over to the defensive side of the puck, the Davos Dynamo has some tough customers coming from their offensive lineup. Names such as Vinny Detriot and Zeedayno Chara will surely be putting Moscow’s defense to the test. Leading the charge will be long time Menace, Hard Markinson who has always come up big in the playoffs on both the defensive and offensive sides of the game. Will these playoffs engrave Markinson as a true playoff hero? Last but not least, we have the goaltending matchup, the starting goaltender for the Davos Dynamo will be David Davis who has had a very respectable season so far with Davos. Being at the forefront of Davos’s defensive success both in the regular season and in the wildcard series. He’ll be facing off against the timeless Papa Emeritus who is coming off his best season so far as a long-time goaltender for the Menace. Breaking career high’s left and right this season, Papa Emeritus hopes to continue his success in the playoffs. Maybe even leading them to a Continental Cup.
