  4. In the Mind of a VHLM GM Although it has been a fairly quiet offseason in the VHLM, it’s been some time-consuming days for a VHLM GM. Now I know I can’t speak for everyone, but for me personally, it’s been an amazing experience so far. Although I’ve yet to do much at the Saskatoon Helm, I look forward to making a splash in the S83 VHLM Dispersal Draft. Scouting is one of the greatest things I’ve been doing so far, and I would like to say I enjoy it a bit. It’s great looking at all the new ( or older) generation players that could make a splash not only for my team but for the VHLM as a whole. The S83 Dispersal Draft will determine which teams are in it to win it and who will be left in the dust. Although it’ll be a tough fight, I’m confident that the Saskatoon Wild will be able to at least be able to be a contender for the Continental Cup next year. But as they say, time will tell if this is particularly true or not. The journey will be full of surprises, but I look forward to my first season as a manager in the Saskatoon Wild Organization.
  5. Sergey’s World Cup Rally + Offseason Plans It was announced this week that Russia’s very own Sergey Preobrazhensky was called on to compete in the annual Hockey World Cup for Team Eastern Europe. Playing with some of the most talented individuals around the region. Such as Sigard Petrenko, Vasile Lamb and Bogdan Trunov, all of whom had exceptional VHL seasons. Even though Sergey already planned an offseason vacation. Sergey decided to scratch that plan just to compete in the World Cup, “Last year I was playing in the WJC. Now I’m playing in the World Cup, I can’t get a break, even in the offseason.” Sergey said jokingly to the press. Team Eastern Europe had a very mediocre showing up to this point. Splitting their four-game round robin with two wins and two losses. As well as managed to place third out of the six teams standings-wise, sending them to the next stage of the competition. Sergey has been able to become a key contributor in such little time played. Which showed him producing five points (3 G, 2 A) in the four-game Round Robin. Eastern Europe is set to face Western Europe in the first-round World Cup playoffs. With all this talk about the World Cup, we seem to forget that the offseason has started. Although Sergey has cancelled his plans to go on vacation due to the World Cup, he still plans to make use of the days he has to himself. Sergey plans on ramping up his gym activity in the coming weeks, he plans on being more of an explosive skater coming into next season. Not only that, but he will continue working on precision accuracy when it comes to shooting by getting repetitions on the ice. “Shooting and goal scoring are some of the hardest things in hockey. When it comes down to it, you need to have elite accuracy to become confident in your goal-scoring abilities. This is what I hope to accomplish throughout this offseason." On top of that, Sergey also has come up with an idea to meet many of the hockey youths around Russia. He plans on travelling all around the country to meet and practice with some of the highest calibre kids and teenagers in hockey. “The youth of this game is incredibly important in my eyes, I hope to bring them a better foundation for them to get to the next level. It’s the least I can do. ” Life is going well for none other than Sergey Preobrazhensky, making the World Cup roster while being able to meet the next generation of hockey stars is nothing short of an amazing journey for him. Although it may look like a ways away, Sergey’s Season 83 Campaign is just around the corner. Not only does he look forward to bringing success to the Moscow Menace, but he also looks forward to welcoming all the fans back from hibernation. We look forward to seeing how Sergey progresses throughout the offseason, look out for Sergey…
  6. New week, New Presser! 1. Any thoughts about the new Hybrid Attributes coming into effect? 2. Although it's very early, do you think Saskatoon has a chance to win back to back Founders Cups? 3. What's your player's biggest pet peeve? 4. If you could implement one rule into hockey, what would it be? 5. What's the most fondest memory you've had with hockey? 6. Whose the most significant mentor your player had?
  7. Review: Very simple graphic. I like the logo you added onto the shirt, the size is done well and the fog/mist clearing only near the head is a nice touch to make the person stand out. The background isn't bad either, I'm not a particular fan of it, but neither am I a hater of it. The Florida man logo at the corner is a nice touch, although I might've placed it more to the left. The topic of the graphic is very simple, therefore it shouldn't be a surprise that the graphic is a simple one as well. Although that's the case, it's nice that you did what you could to make the graphic look competent. 6.5/10
  8. Review: It's a simple graphic, a bit too simple for me though. The font is the only thing that stands out, I would've liked more brightened colors added to the graphic as it seems a bit gloomy to me. Although this is the case, I love the careful addition to the lighting on the ice. You've done a nice job blending that in with the graphic to turn it into a positive addition. Overall, it's not bad, but it could be improved 5/10
  9. Disappointing End to the Season Moscow- The Menace locker room was full of disappointed players after a heartbreaking four game sweep at the hands of none other than the Vancouver Wolves. Although Sergey was devastated with the lack of performance coming out of himself and his team. He knew that he had to move on, “Life is all about moving on, I just need to move on from this result” Sergey mentioned to the media. Although it might’ve not been the result Sergey had hoped for, he’d exceeded many people's expectations as a rookie this season. Totaling out at 55 points in the regular season while having 15 points in the playoffs. “I would say I’ve had a nice run, now it’s on me to keep my success going. I’ll be working extremely hard to horn my skills and become an even better player than before” Although it had been a difficult pill to swallow, Sergey accepted the outcome of the playoffs. But he isn’t done yet, he looks forward to being a pain in the ass for other teams. While giving it his all to bring the Continental Cup back home to Moscow.
  10. Saskatoon Founders Cup Champions! After a long season filled with high hopes and dreams, the Saskatoon Wild have finally done it. They’ve once again won another Founders Cup in the VHLM. But this winning season was different from others, this team overcame many obstacles and challenges throughout the journey. It all started at the end of Season 81, where the Wild finished near bottom in the standings with only 55 points. Placing them 7/10 in the league record wise. It became clear to the management that they were in a rebuilding phase. Saskatoon started trading some of their top guys for draft picks in return. It seemed like this team wouldn’t be too competitive come next season. When it came time for Season 82, the Saskatoon Wild was surprisingly stacked with great young rookies up and down the lineup. With sensations like Jeff Buffy, Brian Kowalski and Kyou Fujibayashi at the helm of the roster. It was not too long before Napoleon Dynamite and Pierre Emile Bouchard joined the team signing as free agents, both of whom were vital contributors in the playoffs. The Saskatoon Wild finished with 53 wins and 19 losses, totaling out at 107 points for the team, which was almost double their point total in Season 81. There were a variety of different things that contributed to such success. But most importantly was having a solid goaltender in Augustus Kennedy while having an All Star defense backing him up. But this was just the start of a miraculous journey for this Saskatoon team. On came the playoffs, where the Saskatoon Wild took out the Miami Marauders and the Philadelphia Reapers both in six games. The hardest challenge came in the Founders Cup Finals though, when the Saskatoon Wild were down 3-1 to the mighty Houston Bulls. Although this was the case, the Wild clawed back winning two games in a row to force a game seven. And then go onto eventually win 6-3 in amazing fashion, crowning the Saskatoon Wild the Founders Cup. But the winning of the Founders Cup wouldn’t be without the standout players on the Saskatoon team. Minou Lambert went crazy this season, bringing in 122 points for the team that season and was criminally underrated by many despite his performance. Ryan was also a stand out star in the Wild organization, scoring 83 points in the regular season. Not only that, he scored 28 points in just 19 games in the playoffs. Both of these players were key contributors to the team, in both the regular season and in the playoffs. Sadly, both of them are headed to the ‘E next season. But I look forward to seeing them succeed out on the ice. Overall, it was a successful season for our Saskatoon team. We came into the season knowing we had something to prove, and we gave it our all to finally bring the cup back to Saskatoon. I’m looking forward to Season 83 as Saskatoon’s GM. Who knows? Maybe Saskatoon can go win back to back?
  11. That's right, another presser. 1. Saskatoon wins the Founders Cup! How do you celebrate? 2. After every season, players sit themselves down and look at what they can do better at next season. What's your player working on improving in the offseason? 3. How did this team go as far as it did, in your opinion? 4. List one thing you love about Saskatoon 5. If there was one country you would go and visit for vacation, which country would it be? 6. What are you looking forward to the most next season?
  12. Review: Neat graphic! I love that the graphic is easy to read and relaxing on the eyes. The player layout is done well and I like the implementation on the black and gray background while the front is all in regular colors. The only thing I would change is the font overlap at the bottom. I'm just not a big fan of it and I think it would have looked better if the fonts were broken up together as opposed to being together. But overall, it's a clean and well done graphic that looks good! 8/5/10
  13. Sergey Preobrazhensky Presser As the playoffs continue, Sergey Preobrazensky and his team, the Moscow Menace, have shown no signs of slowing down. The Menace are up 3-2 in the Conference Finals against their rivals, the Riga Reign. Whoever wins that series will be seeing the Vancouver Wolves once again, who are looking to win the Continental Cup three times in a row. Sergey Preobrazhensky is now in the presser booth awaiting a few questions after a 7-6 OT win against the Reign Reporter: Hello Sergey, we found out yesterday that the Vancouver Wolves are back in the Finals. What does this mean to you? Sergey: Well, it doesn’t really mean much to me. We all knew that this was the team to beat coming into the season. And I look forward to kicking their asses once we see them in the finals. They deserve to burn in flames once we meet them. Reporter: Reflecting on the start of the season to now, are you proud of how far you’ve come? Sergey: I am especially, I’ve grown into a key contributor for my team. I’m faster on the ice and I’m taking my shots with precision accuracy. All I can ask for is to just keep on improving my skills, I’ll be one of the VHL greats in no time. The Menace are just one more game away from clinching Conference Champs once again. But that is not what this team is after, they’re looking at the Continental Cup. But will Sergey and his team have enough to keep their success going? Only time will tell…

  15. Review: Wow! This graphic really caught my attention, it looks like the colours were a bit darkened which helps the contrast of the colours. Font is suitable for the graphic and is easy to read. Not only that, but the player cut out is very neat and well done. I also enjoyed the glare effect you put throughout your work it really adds something special to the work. Overall, you did an amazing job and you’ve impressed me. 9.5/10.
  16. An Unreal Experience Moscow- As the VHL regular season comes to a close, Sergey Preobrazhensky has had the honour of competing for the Moscow Menace in the VHL playoffs. “It seemed like it was just yesterday I landed in Moscow to play for this team,” said Preobrazhensky jokingly. “Everything is happening very fast for me, it’s sometimes hard to live in the moment for me,” Sergey added. Moscow just squeaked into the playoffs and hopes to go deep in the cup race. First up, Sergey and the Menace would have to face the Malmo Nighthawks. It was no easy task that’s for sure. Malmo put up a huge fight against Moscow, with the likes of Nathaniel Minion and Taylor Mourning leading the pack. Although there were some early struggles for the Menace, they clutched up and took the series in 5. Now the series is onto London, where the series is tied up a 1-1. Sergey has done fairly well in the playoffs, with 5 assists, still seeking his first ever goal in the playoffs. But Sergey wasn’t there for individual honours, he was there to bring Moscow the Continental Cup. Only time will tell if his hope will come true…

  18. Review: Once again, another amazing graphic by you. The consistent different shades of cool blue colours highlighted in the graphic give a pleasant vibe to the graphic and are easy on the eyes. Not only that, but the font overlap on the player has been done perfectly, the "Toronto Legion" on the bottom of the name could've been made a tad bit bigger to stand out more but it's a very minor thing. Overall, it's once again, an astonishing graphic put out by you. You seem to have a natural talent at this. Overall, I would give this piece a 9.5/10
  19. Saskatoon Success Saskatoon - After a tough and lengthy season for the Saskatoon Wild this season. They’ve taken the whole VHLM league by storm, finishing near the top of the standings with 103 points. Just behind the Houston Bulls, at 104 points. This came as a surprise to many as last year had the Saskatoon team way behind other teams in terms of success. But with the right key players brought into this young team, such as Augustus Kennedy, Jeffy Buffy and Minou Lambert. This team has been unstoppable as of late. This is due to their amazing offensive depth, consisting of 10 All-Star calibre players in the offensive regiment. Not only that, but their defence has been astonishing as well, although they don’t have the defensive depth most teams would love to have. They have found consistent pieces that contribute to their success in every game. Lastly, the goaltenders out of Saskatoon have been some of the best we've seen in years with this team. Although Augustus Kennedy has been the go-to goalie for the Wild, they’ve had 2 more goaltenders in the ranks, both Tom Edwards and Jenny Phillip have both learned together with their time in Saskatoon to be a solid starting goaltender in the VHLM next year. Anyway, I look forward to what this Saskatoon team can do come playoff time. It seems like the sky’s the limit for this legendary team!
