  1. Opening Week in the VHL! Moscow - This past week has opened another chapter in many people’s VHL career. It was now officially the start of VHL’s eighty fourth season. Reaction around the league was met with a lot of positivity heading in, many of the players were excited and determined to show what they got. While the fans sit back and enjoy watching the season unfold, praying that their team will have a shot at a deep playoff run. Almost every VHL team has reached ten games played. Just from those ten games, we’ve come to see many thrilling performances from players and teams alike. One things for certain though, all sixteen VHL teams will be in for a treacherous journey as they battle it out on the ice For the Moscow Menace, they look to bounce back once again from a heartbreaking year. This time, without some of their major players that helped them along the way previous seasons ago. Most notably, the long time serving captain of the Menace, Duncan Idaho would be headed to D.C as waved goodbye to him once and for all. Although in an awkward situation, the new-look Moscow Menace are still determined to see the same regular season success as last year. Many of the organization’s players and coaches still believe that this team still has what it takes to dominate this season. After all, they still have some big name veterans they can still rely on. Such as the famous Papa Emeritus, who is known for his consistently amazing seasons as a goaltender for the Menace. As well as Hard Markinson, who has been a long-time star player for this team. He’s known for his great physicality, while being a spectacular playmaker on the offensive side of the puck. “It’s always nice to have a fresh start,” spoke Moscow’s Centerman Sergey Preobrazhensky. “Although this team may look a little different from what it did last year. I still know we still have it in us to go far this season. So far, we’ve started out on the right foot, I know as a team we are in the right mindset, we want to win.” Sergey added. Preobrazhensky is met with a familiar spot as last year, playing behind veteran The Seabasstard. He’s on a fairly decent offensive pace so far with eleven points in ten games. He looks to improve on these numbers in the near future, hopefully beating out his last year point totals. So far for the Menace, they’ve been keeping up with the top dogs in the European Conference. Slotting themselves forth in the overall conference standings. But this Moscow team will know that they will have to go above and beyond this season to get back into the playoffs as fan favorites again. Although it is still early in the season, players still want and expect more out of their team. They are incredibly inspired to regain their former title as Conference Champs and hopefully have another shot at the Continental Cup.

  9. Saskatoon: A Look Ahead Once again, the drafting period has ended in all three leagues. Now it’s time for franchises to make last minute changes to their roster before the season quickly arrives, whether that may be last minute free agent/waiver signings or releasing unwanted players. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride for many teams in the VHLM, with many teams hoping to at least stay competitive in the playoff hunt. The upcoming season will show a great amount of new generational talent hoping to make it big one day. Today we are here to look at some of the most promising and underrated first gens the Saskatoon Wild picked up in the latest VHLM Dispersal Draft. G - Jesse Teno @aimkin The S84 VHLM draft class was severely lacking goaltending, resulting in all of the big name goalies to be selected in the first round immediately. This left Saskatoon in an incredibly vulnerable spot. Without a goalie, even the slightest bit of hope in being competitive this season would be thrown out the window. They had very limited options after the first round, but it seems like they’ve found a diamond in the rough with Jesse Teno. Although incredibly new to the VHLM stage, Saskatoon hopes Jesse starts his hockey career on the right foot. He will be Saskatoon’s starting goaltender for the time being, and will have a significant role in bringing this team wins throughout the season F - Nikolas Kauppi @Tetricide The Finnish, Nikolas Kauppi will be one of the heads of the underwhelming Saskatoon offense to start out the season. The organization hopes that he will be able to surprise some people and possibly have an impactful season ahead of him. Scouts note him as a tall buff guy who can carry his own weight, while being able to shoot the puck here and there every so often. His offensive potential is through the roof. If he keeps working hard, he can become a feared competitor for the Saskatoon Wild. F - Robert Overmeyer @RobBro34 Joining Kauppi as a teammate will be Robert Overmeyer. Someone who many teams looked at as an underrated pick up for whoever got him. Being listed as 5’9 and only 175 pounds. He won’t be a physical guy by any means. But Overmeyer has a natural ability as a forward, and that’s what Saskatoon hopes to get out of him. The question is, can he take the next step forward to stand out from the crowd? Saskatoon hopes that’s the case as they will rely on his offensive capabilities for the time being. The new VHLM season is just around the corner for us as 10 teams continue their hunt for the famous and beloved Founders Cup. Managers of all teams are ready to get the show on the road as this will be a season full of jam packed talent. Whether first gens or not, there will be some spectacular players on ice for every team. We look forward to seeing what this season has planned for everyone participating in it.

  18. Review: Love the creative idea in interviewing your player for the Media Spot. Overall, the spelling, grammar and word choice isn't majorly hindering in my opinion. I like that you put the italics for when the reporter is speaking and normal font for when Molly is talking. Some stuff that I would like to see improved is the adding off a header, images and quotation marks for when a person is talking. But that's just me being nit-picky. You've put a nice effort into your writing and it shows, nice job! 7.5/10
  19. Review: Yeah, that's some amazing stuff. I love the Helsinki color scheme you got for Nico, and with the black cracked background, it gives the graphic a more rugged and rough theme to it. Love the rips and scratches on the graphic as well, it shows great attention to detail and very much enhances the work altogether. The next is laid out neatly and perfectly, the blue and white shades on the text don't hinder the quality of the graphic either - one might say it even benefits it. Honestly, I don't see much room or improvement here, you've done a splendid job. 9.8/10
  20. Offseason Discussions As the season slowly subsides once again into disappearance. Hundreds if not thousands of players playing in the VHL or affiliated in some way will be heading into the offseason. This’ll be a crucial and beneficial time for players to sharpen their skills on the ice, without the pressure of performing under the spotlight in games. While for the front office, the offseason brings a time of strategic thinking. Free agent signings, contract negotiations and draft picking are all in the repertoire this coming offseason. It’ll nonetheless be an mysterious yet exciting offseason once again around the VHL. Going over to the city of Moscow, we have Sergey Preobrazhensky. A centerman for the Moscow Menace who has been quietly rising up the ranks in the VHL. He had an unprecedented amount of success in his recent season with the team, bolstering his offensive production for Moscow. Totalling up to 85 points with tremendous amounts of athleticism and finesse to go along with it. But with such a significant jump in numbers comes along daunting pressure for Preobrazhensky to improve from those numbers next year. Because of this, Sergey has planned a strict training regiment to get him in the best shape of his life for this upcoming season, with the help of staff and trainers. Sergey will continue to moderately improve his physical fitness in the weightroom like many others. But he will double his work improving in-game skills, such as speed, shooting and faceoffs. “It’s never too early to think about next season, I'm working harder than anyone out there right now. For the benefit of the Moscow organization and as well as myself” expressed Preobrazhensky rink-side with a local reporter. Now we head off to Saskatoon, where the Wild management are in a tough position heading into the VHLM Draft coming up in less than a day. Saskatoon was left with relative disappointment and anguish after finding out that they had one of the worst league records in the VHLM that season. The front office hopes to change their fortunes this time around. After receiving quite a bit of draft picks off teams in S83. Saskatoon hopes to cash in to help make a more competitive team moving forward. Although this is the case, there are still many question marks for the Saskatoon Wild heading into the season. No one really knows how well they will do when it comes time to play. There is no clear cut answer for this team and only time will tell how the season will unfold for them. The offseason is always a jam-packed period full of many different emotions for everyone. Everyone wants to have a successful and productive offseason, whether a player or team. But only the mighty will prevail in such a competitive league. There are still over a week of preparation for the next season, plenty of time for anyone to make an impact. It’ll sure be fun seeing how the rest of the offseason will play out, stay tuned!
  21. Review: The offseason is always one of the busiest periods in the VHL! I enjoyed that you took us to multiple parts of Wolanin's career, both playing on the ice and managing on the side. You've got some detailed points in both paragraphs where you talk about both his playing and managing career which I really valued when reading the Media Spot. Little stuff like adding a title heading and a picture could've enhanced the work. Overall well done and I'm looking forward to S84 as much as you. 8/10
