I'll offer my Draft Visualizers again but I'd like to change mine up to be a series of cumulative goals rather than winning bid gets draft class of their choice. So each bid goes towards a draft class of their choice and I'll do a visualizer for any draft class that reaches $25 in cumulative bids. So for example, if S67, S75 and S82 all hit $25 in cumulative donations (so a grand total of $75), I'll do visualizers for all three of those classes.

At the start of this year, the title of this piece would have been such a stupid no-brainer question to ask. Of course, the greatest hockey player, and potentially athlete, of all time Wayne Gretzky would have been an automatic first overall selection in the upcoming Season 92 VHL Draft for any team who would hold that selection regardless of their needs as you just cannot pass up on day one world-class talent. However, it's been an incredibly torrid time for Wayne Gretzky in the build-up to this draft as he's been unable to play at all in the VHLM this season and they are currently rehabbing from their nineteenth Broken Everything, which they suffered having mistaken an oncoming monster truck for old teammate Kevin McClelland while still in the process of rehabbing from their eighteenth Broken Everything. But in spite of his litany of typically career-ending injuries, will Wayne Gretzky still end up being selected with a high pick? The decision of many young prospects to delay a season and elect to enter the Season 93 Draft to avoid Wayne Gretzky's draft with the hopes of a better contract led to a significantly lower prospect pool count that is half of even the lowest previous count of the last 29 seasons (68 in Season 90 versus 35 for Season 92). On top of that, with four of those 35 prospects mysteriously vanishing, having not been seen since October, it appears to be a guarantee that, in spite of all their injuries, Wayne Gretzky will be at least a second round selection in this upcoming VHL Draft. But is there even potentially view for Wayne Gretzky to make their way into the first round? If he did, Gretzky would be the first player taken in the first round with less than 100 TPE since Jónas Vilhjálmsson went seventh overall in Season 60 with 72 TPE and it would be the first time since Season 59 (Ebi Shpeen at eighth overall) that a player with 30 TPE went in the first round. While Gretzky hasn't earned any TPE because of his raft of injuries, he is projected to max earn following the conclusion of their VHL Draft, which is a mark that only six prospects in the same draft are currently reaching. While Gretzky's time missed through injury will make it difficult to catch up to those particular prospects, they should face significantly less issues gaining ground on players currently slotted down as late-first selections. Of the players currently in the top 16 in TPE, four are consistently earning less than or equal to 6 capped TPE per week (A rate Gretzky projects to double post-draft) and one other has faced a roadblock in their earning capabilities due to the crackdown on AI use in player development. At the same time though, there are one or two prospects currently outside the top 16 in TPE that have started to show more potential recently that could overtake them. A lot of this will evidently come down to how much faith any potential GM has in Gretzky to get back to the work ethic that made him the greatest hockey player of all time once he recovers from his big injury setbacks. However, scientists who have looked into the potential career projection of Gretzky have noted that his recent Broken Everything's have led to him resembling a large similarity in hockey efficiency to recent VHL player The Board Game Clue On Skates, as neither are capable of sufficiently playing hockey, and it's noted that the cardboard board game accrued nearly 2000 TPE in their career, a mark which any VHL GM would be more than happy to have Gretzky get even close to.

Nice article Kaleeb! Really enjoyed the read and agree with quite a few of your points, the only negative was I had to turn it to light theme to see it since it's invisible in dark theme haha. On Retention, I agree wholeheartedly that there needs to be a bigger focus towards it. You mentioned videos at some point, I'm not sure if you'd noticed but I made a couple a few months ago and the idea was to make more, but unfortunately the problem is while I have more than enough time to be fully active as a normal member, I need to both have access to my home computer and a free house to record Tutorial Videos and that just doesn't happen at the minute. Hopefully someone else can help make a few at some point to help with them but I get the feeling it's going to need a league-concentrated effort to do that which I don't see happening (E.g. I was willing to record it for no TPE, but I'm not sure how many others will). Regarding the BOG, I'm not going to say it is completely without bias and I get your points on why it looks odd to have General Managers in the BOG. In fact there was a time where General Managers in the BOG effectively stopped the league from making a ruling (back in the S60's, GMs in the BOG threatened to leave their GM role if they had the privilege that allowed them to make a second player taken away from them at a time where we were very short on GM candidates), but that era has long passed and since then I don't feel like I've seen a proposal born purely from bias make it's way through into acceptance. The big issue would be how many GM/BOG candidates you would have if you said you could only have one of those two jobs, especially if VHLM and VHLE GMs also counted as GMs that couldn't be in the BOG. Like I think the VHL might be alright for GM candidates if we did that, but the VHLE and VHLM would take a big hit because the pool is not that deep, either that or we'd miss out on valuable insights in the BOG. I'd also disagree that you need two seasons of VHL GMing to be a BOG member, I was first inducted into the BOG two seasons before I became a VHL General Manager (S45 in the BOG, S47 became Americans GM) and there's others who've been in the BOG without those requirements and given very good insights without needing to be a VHL GM (While they're gone now, Shindigs would be a great example as they were able to give great insights even only being in the league a few seasons). I think the main thing for BOG is just having a strong analytical mindset and being able to see problems and how to fix them, which doesn't neccessarily have to coincide with General Managing as I know some people who have very good thought processes just simply don't want to be a General Manager. This is probably the best point that I saw and I think it's particularly present at the minute, more than any other stretch I'd seen, predominantly because we've not had anything of note really happen that's changed the league recently (Last thing was Hybrid Attributes which was nearly two years ago now, last expansion was the VHLE about two and a half years ago), so the similarity of each season really stands out. It's going to be slightly different soon I'm sure with the Christmas Donation Drive, but we could definitely do with some more events to keep the community interested, like maybe another suggestion drive or something of that nature. The one thing I would say though, and this is something I've brought up in the BOG, is that I feel like commissioners are giving themselves too many responsibilities at the minute (especially when you consider the two most senior commissioners sim every season now and Josh is our only portal guy) and fair play to them for being willing to do all that for the league, but that heavy workload is becoming evident recently with how some key elements of the league are not being handled as well as they possibly could, so I think the responsibilities of a commissioner need to be split down and separated across more people before we talk about giving the current commissioners more to do.

VHLM and Recruitment are so bad right now
MubbleFubbles replied to Zetterberg's topic in VHL League Discussion
To make it clear since I've seen/heard (through the podcast) you mention my name a few times as being involved with recruitment at some point, I've not had any involvement with the recruitment processes (I gave a few suggestions here and there but that was it) and was never asked to participate in social media updates. The only reason I was on the team was because, historically, Draft Rankings have been linked to the recruitment team and I wasn't able to claim them for TPE on a weekly basis unless I was part of the recruitment team. In fact when Ricer brought me in, he specifically referred to me as a "Recruitment" (emphasis on the quotation marks) Team member. Not using that as an argument against the point being made because I agree that large turnover has had an impact, I just wanted to make my own position clear. -

Interestingly, it doesn't look like this is a one-off, a vhl.com piece they wrote is essentially re-doing a lot of points from @Alex Season 90 Playoff Preview (with it being most blatant as they refer to Brian Kowalski and James Marino as forwards, which could only have happened through misinterpreting the VSN article).

It was supposed to be a day of celebration for “The Archduke of Deking” Wayne Gretzky, as the greatest hockey player of all time was supposed to spend the day celebrating the previously unthinkable one week recovery from a broken everything and Wayne “Bullet Train” Gretzky’s immediate debut in the VHLM was set to be the subject of a highly anticipated press conference. However, just minutes before the press conference started, the Ottawa Lynx, who had yet to receive the good news due to a faulty fax machine, announced the immediate termination of “GOAT Town’s Only Resident” Wayne Gretzky’s VHLM contract. Upon hearing the news, “The Man Who Moved Mountains” Wayne Gretzky was understandably shocked and fell off the king’s throne. Seeing “The Immortal” Wayne Gretzky in clear agony, his team immediately called for an air ambulance to fly the greatest hockey player of all time to the best medical facility. Unfortunately, after thorough checks, the horrific extent of the injuries that were picked up were to be announced to the world by the doctors: “The Booty Man” Wayne Gretzky had rebroken his everything. While “The 1st, 2nd 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Man” Wayne Gretzky had made a once unthinkable recovery look like a piece of cake, there are no known records of a human being or alien lifeform recovering from a second consecutive broken everything, leaving big question marks to be raised as to whether we will ever see Wayne Gretzky’s perfect posterior ever again, much less gretzing as he once did.

There was devastating news in the Wayne Gretzky camp in the lead-up to this draft as it was revealed that in a freak accident, Wayne Gretzky, the man considered to be the best ice hockey player of all time, had “broken their everything”. Given Gretzky’s stature in the hockey universe, it was anticipated that they would be the first player ever to be pushed forward a VHL Draft Class, entering into the Season 91 Draft Class instead of the Season 92 class that players will be entered into if they create at the trade-deadline. However, in the lead-up to that draft, it became clear that something wasn’t right with Gretzky as the usual confidence and exuberance coming out of the camp was not there and was in fact radio silent. It was only when the VHL Draft took place that it was clear that Gretzky would in fact not be immediately joining the pro league as their name was nowhere to be found on draft boards and a lot of VHL teams were confused as to why they couldn’t select the greatest hockey player of all time. A statement from Wayne Gretzky’s camp was then released following the draft: “It is with our deepest sadness and regret to inform the Victory Hockey League that “The King of Kings” Wayne Gretzky will not be playing in the Victory Hockey League in Season 91 as we had originally anticipated. This has unfortunately been brought about because of a freak accident that has led to “The Gold Standard” Wayne Gretzky breaking their everything. While Wayne Gretzky (of Wayne Gretzky fame) has put on a brave face, an achievement in itself given that everything inside of Wayne “The Brain” Gretzky is broken, it has become clear that “The Son of God” Wayne Gretzky will have to take time out to rehabilitate these devastating injuries. No-one in recorded history has ever fully recovered from a broken everything, but “Big Diesel” Wayne Gretzky is the greatest fighter of all time and we feel confident that this fighting spirit will see “The Don” Wayne Gretzky return in full force in one season’s time and absolutely gretz the VHLM in Season 92.” The last sentence confirmed that Wayne Gretzky would be playing in the VHLM in Season 92 but was still made available to draft by VHLM Commissioners in the Season 91 VHLM Draft. While nearly every team was clearly beside themselves with the thought of having the greatest of all time potentially join their minor league roster (Editor real world note: No they weren’t, only one GM PM’d me and that was Ottawa), the risks of signing a player with a broken everything were too much for many teams and Wayne Gretzky made the previously unthinkable slide to the fourth round where they were selected by the Ottawa Lynx. Now, while Gretzky definitely will not be playing any hockey in Season 91, we have received word that should Gretzky in fact fully recover from their broken everything, they will start their rehabilitation process in the VHLM and have decided to honour Ottawa’s faith by letting the General Manager know that they will play for the franchise in Season 92. While it is not yet clear if Wayne Gretzky will ever recover fully from their broken everything, we are eagerly looking forward to seeing how they can do once they are projected to return to ice hockey in Season 92.

Hello everyone, Wayne Gretzky here and you might remember "The Great One" Wayne Gretzky as the best hockey player of all time, which is why "Queen G" Wayne Gretzky decided to come to the Victory Hockey League to re-assert myself, that being "The Human Hat-Trick Machine" Wayne Gretzky, as the Aristotle of Ice Hockey. However, since joining the league, The Right Honourable Wayne Gretzky has been appalled at the treatment that Wayne Gretzky (the hockey player that Scotty Campbell wishes he was) has received since declaring for the Season 92 Draft. For one, not one single soul has uttered the name "Wayne Gretzky" since that momentous day where Wayne "The Brain" Gretzky declared for the Season 92 VHL Draft, despite the fact that nobody on this planet, or in fact any other planet, is within touching distance of "The Gold Standard" Wayne Gretzky's talent. Furthermore, Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year Wayne Gretzky has only received offers of $1.5 Million dollars to join Minor League teams in the lead-up to "The Dashing One" Wayne Gretzky's VHL Draft, a paltry sum when one considers what Wayne Gretzky, the only muggle more magic than Harry Potter, can bring to a Minor League team. Naturally, Wayne Gretzky is too Gretz (adjective: to be akin to a god-like being, e.g. Wayne Gretzky) to even consider a minor league team, but the gall of these Minor League teams even offering a megastar like Wayne "Insane In The Membrane" Gretzky such a pittance is downright laughable. You have offended "The Best There Was, The Best There Is and The Best There Ever Will Be" Wayne Gretzky and now you will all pay the price.
