  1. 1. I think Marttins Stepka hasn't been playing up to expectations, no goals and only 9 assists. 2. I would say we are. I believe in our team. 3. Scoring and defense, the two keys to victory. 4. Patrick Kane 5. Patrick Kane (I don't do GFX tho) 6. Very cold and windy here in the midwest.
  2. We sat down for a quick interview with newest Houston Bulls left winger Obi Adesanya: Q: So Obi, how have things been going for you so far in Houston? Obi: I love it here. I wasn't quite sure how I would fit in with some of the older prospects since I am only 18 years old, but they have welcomed me in with open arms. All of the coaches and players have been amazing. Q: How excited were you to get your first career goal? Obi: Oh man I was pumped. I didn't even see it go in, I just got hugged from one of the defensemen after I shot the puck and got hit at the same time. I guess I didn't envision it going like that, but it was sweet nonetheless. Q: Last question: Do you think you belong on a top line already? Obi: I wouldn't necessarily say I belong on a top line, but I think if I were to be thrown into a top 6 role I would be able to hold my own. I am fine with being on the 4th line until I get my skills up. 194 words
  3. What a fun read, Sergey seems like a guy I could root for throughout his career. While the piece was a bit hard to read with some of the choppy sentences, I found myself reading through it because I got to like Sergey a lot. He was really worried about not getting drafted in the first round, but when it happened he was so excited and honestly that's how I envision my draft process going when I get to this level in my career. It's awesome that he ended up being a first rounder after congratulating his fellow draftees which probably killed him to do when he was still left unpicked. Hopefully he makes it to the big leagues soon. 10/10
  4. I had to review this media spot because of the headline, I joined late in the off-season process (like 2 days before the VHLM draft) so I am impartial here. While reading the piece I did feel like you kind of explained why it seems like it has to be so boring for the casual user. The admins have lots of things to do and I'm sure they want a break from the grind of the season too. I do agree with you about the drafts though, they definitely sucked and while I was busy during the VHLM draft, I tried to follow the stream a bit on my phone and missed my guy getting drafted which is fine, but I still haven't been able to find a link anywhere with a full list of where everyone went in the draft. That would have been cool to see. 10/10
  5. 1. Very happy about where we're at as a team and where I am individually as well. 2. I think we are right up there with them in terms of talent so it's good to see us take it to them on the ice. 3. I think HC Davos needs a new logo, not a big fan of theirs. 4. The Blackhawks have been doing better lately but they're still ass. 5. Not really, I hate holiday shopping. 6. No, cereal is its own thing.
  6. Obi Adesanya's first week in the VHL is in the books, ending the first week with 5 goals and no assists while alternating between the third and fourth lines. His playing time in the first 4 games was very minimal, recording just under 8 minutes per game and not having the opportunity to get up many shots as the veterans on the top lines. This was to be expected, as Obi still needs to get used to the pace of the professional league since this is his first taste of real pro hockey. Obi clearly looked over matched at the beginning of the week, but he began to find his footing in game 5, when Obi scored his first career goal en route to a 5-2 Bulls win against Saskatoon. This was his first game on the third line and playing more than 10 minutes in a game, and he really started to hit his groove in the second period. Obi carried this great play over to the next game against Mexico City, where Obi scored again in the second period, helping the Bulls to another victory. Obi's best game of the year so far came in the next game against the San Diego Marlins where Adesanya recorded his first career two goal game en route to a 4-3 Bulls victory, with his second goal in the third period being the game winner, his first career game winning goal. In this game Obi really started to show why the Bulls drafted him, as he imposed his will on the offensive and defensive end with 4 shots on goal to go along with 3 hits. Obi would keep his points streak going in game 36 against the Mexico City Kings with another third period goal, scoring the sixth and final goal of the game in a 6-4 victory, giving the Bulls an insurance goal late in the game. Houston has really hit their stride as a team, recording 16 points so far, good for second place in the Western Conference, right behind Las Vegas, who has been nearly unbeatable this season with only one loss in regulation so far. We caught up with Obi to chat about his start to his career in Houston, as well as the play of the Bulls through one week of play. "The first few games were really a challenge for me physically" said Adesanya. "I didn't realize how big and strong these guys were. They are only a few years older than me and the difference is immense already. After that first initial shock, I started to find my footing. Once I got into the groove of the games, I could tell I was playing a lot better and thinking a lot less out there. Credit goes to Ayomide Ayodele and Charlie for helping me through the growing pains at first. They really made me feel at home. I thought we had a slow start to the season as a whole, but with so many new players I think we all expected that. Now that we have a few games together under our belt, I think we are really going to start to click."
  7. This PT was confusing at first because I thought it was a joke. I laughed at the fact that someone was reported because because they asked “are you into minors” in a chat under a fake name. That, to me, is funny. As I read further into the piece, it occurred to me that it was not a joke, and this individual was actually punished for this. I would have liked to know what the punishment actually was though, as I read it through twice and still couldn’t figure it out. I then realized that it was in the subject line. Should have been somewhere in the article too. 8/10
  8. This was a smooth read and I enjoyed getting to know both Marshall Maxx and Connor Johnson, two guys I will be going up against in the VHLM this season. Not any huge grammar mistakes that I see and especially none that take away from the enjoyment of the article. Hopefully this duo will keep improving into the VHL! 10/10
  9. The VHLM draft has concluded and Obi Adesanya had to wait until 46 other players heard their name called before he knew where he would spend the next few season, as Obi went to the Houston Bulls at 47th overall after entering his name into the draft late. The Bulls were 2nd on Obi's list of top teams he wanted to be drafted by, so overall he was very happy about the landing spot. "I really didn't know what to expect" said Adesanya, one of the first players from Cameroon to ever play professional hockey. "I want to thank Houston for giving me a chance. Even though I know I won't be a top player in my rookie year, I hope I can learn from the guys around me and progress into a player who can contribute to wins eventually." The Bulls also drafted two other left wingers ahead of Obi, making Obi at least a 3rd line winger for now.
  10. 1. What brought you to the VHL? I got some e-mails and was thinking about it for a while then finally pulled the trigger. 2. What are you most excited about? Watching my player progress as the seasons go on. 3. Are you modeling your player after anyone? Patrick Kane 4. How are you feeling after making an account and a player? I had one in the past so it's exciting to be able to get going again 5. What is your favorite NHL team? Chicago Blackhawks 6. Is this your first time in a sim league? Nope, I'm in a bunch of others already including PBE, GOHLS, Big Head Baseball, and others.
  11. For Obi Adesanya’s first point task, I will break down the teams I would most want to be drafted by. Being out of the VHL for probably about 10 years, I have no recollection of who is good or bad and remember hardly any GM’s, so this breakdown will be based off of location and team names. Here we go. 12. Mississauga Hounds: While I’ve always wanted to visit Canada, I don’t know where Mississauga is and I would probably get lost trying to find it. I am too lazy to look at a map of Canada as I am typing this on my phone and don’t want to get out of the word counter. I am guessing it is somewhere in the coldest part of Canada, and because I am from Africa I don’t think that would be very fun. The Hounds aren’t a bad team name, but I’m more of an aquatic animal person. 11. Saskatoon Wild: Another Canadian team, and I am not a fan of the Minnesota Wild as I grew up a Blackhawks fan so they will get no team name points. Saskatoon is kind of a cool name for a city, but again, have no idea where it is in Canada. 10. Ottawa Lynx: I believe this was the team I was most recently drafted by when I was in the league a long time ago. I do remember we weren’t very good, but that’s not why I have them ranked 10th. I’d rather play for a team I haven’t played for before and preferably not somewhere in Canada, again due to the weather. Lynx are pretty bad ass, though. 9. Yukon Rush: Is Yukon in Canada as well? Regardless, it sounds cold. I really need to brush up on my geography, this is quite embarrassing. Rush is the name of a Canadian band too, not sure why I put them 9th when they probably should have been 12th. I promise I don’t dislike Canada, just trying to put myself in the persona of an African hockey prospect here. 8. Halifax 21st: My favorite hockey movie is Goon, which automatically gives Halifax a bump. However, it is still in Canada and I remember how cold it looked in the movie. And I would have had Halifax in my top 3 if it’s weren’t for the 21st team name. I mean, what is that all about? There are only 6 guys on the ice at a time in hockey. It’s gotta be something to do with the area that I am unaware of. 7. Minnesota Storm: Minnesota wouldn’t be the worst place in US to play, but definitely the coldest and did I mention I highly dislike the cold?? Seems odd that I am a hockey player who can’t stand cold weather. Also, there aren’t many storms in Minnesota, are there? I always thought storms were more prevalent in the middle of the Midwest. But what do I know? I’m from Africa for Christ’s sake. 6. Philadelphia Reapers: Now we’re starting to get to the winners. Philadelphia would be pretty fun to start my career. The Steelers are usually good and I would like to take in some NFL football on Sunday’s when we aren’t playing. I could be friends with JuJu Smith-Schuster, too. We could play video games together, that would be sweet. Also the Reapers are a dope team name. Trying to murder some teams out here. 5. San Diego Marlins: The team name kind of makes me think of baseball, and I am not a huge baseball fan. I don’t really understand it, and why the hell does everyone just stand there for 90% of the game? Where’s the fun in that. San Diego I’ve heard is a fun time though. Not only is the weather nice but it’s on the coast and I could get in some beach time on off days. Marlins are a sweet animal too, as I mentioned before I am a big fan of aquatic creatures. Probably could be in the top 3, but sometimes tough decisions have to be made. 4. Miami Marauders: I could really see myself tearing up the ice in Miami. I have always felt like Miami needed a hockey team and I wouldn’t want to let this city down if I am selected by the Marauders. Also, what a bad ass name, am I right? Makes me want to go marauding around the ice taking people out, even though I’m a scoring forward. I also remember this being a team name in an old football game on Yahoo! Games back in the day. That was a fun game. 3. Mexico City Kings: Mexico would also be a fun place to play hockey, even more so than Houston, which made my top 2. You’ll hear about why they’re ahead in a second. I’ve always wanted to visit Mexico and even got my passport a while back, but just never pulled the trigger. I’d like to give the hockey fans in Mexico something to watch. Also, there’s nothing much more powerful than a King. 2. Houston Bulls: We have arrived at the last two teams and the Bulls sit at number two. Growing up, I was a huge Chicago Bulls fan and Michael Jordan was my favorite athlete, therefore I’d love to represent the Bulls in the VHLM and bring them to the promise land, given that they aren’t currently there already. Houston is whatever, Texas has no property tax I believe so it’d be financially smart to live there as well. 1. Las Vegas Aces: The Aces are my first choice to be drafted by because it combines my two favorite activities: partying and gambling. Yes, I know my player is only 18 years old, but I am very mature for my age and have a fake ID. There’s nothing more exhilarating than putting your whole signing bonus on the Blackhawks to win the game on a random Tuesday. Las Vegas would also be the best city in America to live, the city that never sleeps. Name a better situation for an 18 year old hockey star with the Golden Knights playing in the same arena (assuming VHLM teams play in the same arenas as NHL teams, of course), I couldn’t. As for the team name, show me some Aces at the poker table on off days. What a great time. Let’s go Aces!
  12. Nice! Congrats man. I think VHL might be my last one for a while. I think we can use VHL PT's in PBE so maybe I'll be able to stop writing those and just do them here.
  13. Obi Adesanya has officially entered the VHL draft as of last night. Adesanya’s agent, atw, was excited to get the news that he would be accepted as a new player at the minute as the draft is quickly approaching. So you may be wondering - how did he get his name? It was a long thought process as atw wanted his player to be from Africa and have a decently ethnic name, but could not think of anything for the life of him. He was bouncing back and forth between just making some Spanish player and Obi’s name was very close to being Senor Snipe, but he thought better of it. No one better take that name, by the way. Obi is thrilled to get his career underway and hopes to become a high octane scorer for a team needing shoot first style players. Obi is quickly progressing and should be considered in the late rounds of the draft.
  14. 1. What aspect of Hockey (Defense, Stick Handling, etc.) do you think is the most underappreciated? I would have to say ice awareness. I know it’s not a VHL attribute but if you know where to be at all times you’re going to be successful. Especially if you’re not super athletic. 5. What is your favorite holiday? Definitely New Years Eve. So much anticipation and hopefulness for the next year. Usually only to be let down by how lame the next year ends up being. But it’s fun for one night. 6. If the VHL has an expansion, what city would you like to see get a team? I would like to see a team in Africa, maybe Cameroon? There’s not a whole lot of hockey out there so it would be fun to see a team started in Africa.
  15. 1. What are your thoughts on the upcoming entry draft? Any potential sleepers or sure fire studs? Immediate impact players? 2. Which team (other than your current team) would you like to play for in the future if you were ever to hit free agency and what draws you to this team? 3. Any build tips for a new winger just starting out? Attributes to stay away from?
  16. Sorry @Beketov@bigAL@Joshprobably didn't have to message y'all, I am new to the whole @ thing on here
  17. I will DM all three of them on this very important matter.
  18. Meet Obi Adesanya: Obi Adesanya reigns from Cameroon in Central Africa, not typically known for its ice hockey prospects. Obi took up the sport when he was 6-years-old and made it his primary focus as he grew up. Most of his friends were into soccer or basketball, but Obi had the luxury of a wealthy family and was able to send him to an academy in France when he was 9. He and his friends would play soccer while in Cameroon during the summer time, which developed his hand-eye coordination and endurance abilities. While French hockey wasn't the most competitive, it gave Obi the much needed ice time to develop his hockey skills and become a better skater. Obi was noticed by a few scouts as he was in the junior ranks and he was chosen to play on a 14-u traveling team who played across Europe and even a bit in Russia, where the competition was much too strong for Obi's French league team. However, it gave him the experience playing with great competition and molded him into the junior player he is today. Obi was a bigger kid when he was younger, but he has not grown quite as tall as the professional scouts had expected. He may still have a bit of growing to do yet, but currently he sits at 6'1 and 205 pounds, very thick for an 18-year-old but not surprising given his ability to gain muscle mass even at a young age. Obi seemed destined for a defensive grinder type of playing style, but his quick footwork given his soccer background has shaped him into a quicker forward, more specifically a left wing. Obi has developed a world class wrist shot, which many believe to already be the best in the draft. His puck handling is decent as well, but he will need players around him to be able to set him up for scoring chances until he becomes a little better on his feet. Obi is a projected late round pick due to his late entry into the draft, but scouts are well aware of his potential and what he could blossom into. At only 18-years-old, Obi could have the most potential in the draft as well, but there are still many unknowns about whether his playing style and lack of experience will be able to translate to the VHL. Taking Obi will definitely be a risk, but it could pay huge dividends if he continues to develop.
  19. Yes I would like to do that if possible, who would I contact to have that happen?
  20. Shit man I was trying to remember my old player and kept thinking Pierre something... you have a better memory than I. I am almost 30 now crazy to say but things are going well, been back in the sim game for a bit but mostly on discord with some of the newer ones. My PBE player just hit 1000 TPE. Hopefully Obi can turn into a solid player as well, though I haven't much time for PT's anymore I should still carve some time to at least do the career ones. How bout you??
  21. Wow that's crazy... those were fun times for sure!
  22. Good to be back. Had to create a new username cause I don’t have access to my email from my old account from way back in the day. I think the last time I had a player was S50ish. Let’s give it another go, shall we?
