The logos on the player is good and so is the logo on the outside. The words are confusing on what it says. The colours are good with what the logo colours have.

Pretty nice graphic you got going here, I love how you added a nighthawk logo fade in to it to really give it another level. It took me a minute to notice it because of that red helmet, Leading me to a suggestion to possibly next time either crop the helmet out or change it to a Malmo color like green or blue! I love the fade font you used for the name and the defenseman font. Its overall a great graphic. 8/10

LOL. Don't think they have dropped yet.  Fight stats is a tough one.  I had 7 fights one season and 0 the next ???  Having 70 grit and zero fights was shocking that season.  Hopefully a Payne vs Probert happens soon...Just go easy on my face!!

Fights won is the one stat I'm focused on the most for Probie haha. Good article and thanks for the mention! Waiting for the day Payne and Probert drop the gloves against each other (unless thats already happened and I missed it haha)

Tim Robinson reacted to Triller in Peaceful Negotiations
Negotiations can be hard.  Some players want more than others and sometimes those demands can get a little weighty.  This off-season, Houston, among other teams, were in talks with a well know VHLM player.  After @AJW and I chatted with this players Agent it was concluded that a Mandalay Bay and a statue of this player would need to be constructed in Houston.  As the AGM of Houston I jumped right into talks with the city about a commercial zoning permit and a location for the Mandalay Bay to be constructed.  I also reached out to a very prominent, local sculptor to get started on the statue.  Before talks had concluded, a show of good faith was sent to show our commitment.  A piece of the gold statue that had been already sculpted.  Who could say no when all their demands had been agreed to and were already in progress...

It seems, in the end, that this player was going to go elsewhere to play with a friend.  One could assume that this plan was long in place and that negotiations were futile from the beginning, but that would be speculation.  With a sculpt already being worked on we had to pivot.  In the end, something magnificent was created and was placed on the front steps of the Houston Arena.

    It's plaque reads:

    "HOUSTON BULLS ARENA
Depicted here is the GM of the Houston Bulls, AJ, standing tall and working for his team against those who would negotiate poorly with him.

For this week weeks post we will talk about some upcoming rookies, a clutch defenseman from
Calgary,  a man name Probert stopping everything, and some other random shit.

    AirRig GoodBrandSun is CLUTCH:
After a dominant regular season last year the Calgary Wranglers had a disappoint playoff and vowed to avenge their early exit this year.  Their start was anything but expected but they have become hot as of late with 3 straight wins.  With amazing players like Daniel Janser, Landon Wolanin, Leandro Goncalves its easy to see why they are so offensively gifted.  With those names on the roster If I were to ask who led in game winning goals the AirRig GoodBrandSun @Rhynex Entertainment would probably not roll of the tongue.  A gifted scorer in his own right, the S83 Jake Wylde Trophy winner has notched 5 GWG in a short 23 game season so far showing he is Mr Clutch on a team of All Stars.  Great work Rig!

    ROOKIE IN HELSINKI
The poor Helsinki Titans are having a rough start to the year with only 3 wins so far.  A talented but young club they will be deadly in years to come when players mature and TPE is earned.  That being said, rookie Daryl Dixon @Ricer13 is doing his part to earn rookie of the year honors.  The Season 86 #3 overall pick is already at 663 TPE and In 22 games he’s notched 13 goals 7 assists 20 points and 73 hits.

Now he has some competition at his heels for the top rookie in Larry Abass Jr (CGY), Nikolas Kauppi(PRG), and Jon Webber Jr (RIG) but so far Dixon has my vote.

UNDRAFTED TOUGH GUY EARNING HIS SPOT
Sometimes when teams find a player in the later picks of the draft or free agency they truly find a diamond in the rough.  Now rough is exactly what Malmo Defenseman, Mo Probert @Yahtzee is.  Like his namesake he plays the game with a bag of knuckles but has shown despite being undrafted he brings first round grit to the Nighthawks.

Probert is currently #1 in shots blocked with 73 and #1 in PIMS with 81 he also has 81 hits.  He does the little things that make him so valuable to his club.  He is also #2 in fights with 5 total and #1 in fight wins with 3.

Probert isn’t always about the grit too; he can score and play hockey.  He has scored 10 goals in each of his last two seasons and had a nice 47 assists in his rookie year.  Also, when he played for the Bratislava Watchmen he had a 12 goal and 55 points season.  Even crazier was his final year in Halifax in the Minors he amassed 21 goals to go with 201 hits.

Overall, Malmo should be commended for such a great free agent signing and wanted to shine a light on the great play by Probie.

    VANCOUVER TRADES HORVAT
Well in real life hockey news, Bo Horvat was traded to NY by Vancouver this week and he just signed an 8 year deal to stay with NYI.  Was this a good trade by Vancouver??  Did they get enough in return?? Just curious of any thoughts

A standout graphic that has some color to it. I like the near glow in the dark lime green you use. I bet you can use that jersey to be a road worker at night. Overall the graphic looks fun. You took a stock photo and turned it into something of your own. I like how it follows your design from previous projects. Only thing missing is the sound and smell. Good job.

Or why not Max Torq @Steve who led all defensemen with 30 goals (7 more then the next dman), PPG (4th in the league), PPPts, 2nd among dmen in shots and led his team in scoring. Pretty outstanding, I'd say.

Always seems like one or two teams have multiple players to vote on and other deserving candidates are FISTED ANALLY BY A CIRCUS MONKEY. Curious what the league thinks about a more wide-spread MOP selection - maybe write-in for a long list, take the 6-8 most popular players and then vote on the winner/finalists?

    Hello all @Members!

Another absolutely amazing charity drive has come and gone, our largest one yet! The total amount donated through the league was $2063.04 (CAD) to which the league will add an additional $1000 which means both SickKids and St.Jude’s will be receiving $1531.52! We’ll be making that donation shortly.

But wait, I said this was our biggest donation drive ever didn’t I? Well that’s because the above does NOT count all the amazing direct contributions people made. Add those in and, even without the league’s $1000 matching, we raised a total of $3607.73!

That means of course that we have some amazing rewards for everyone! All of our reward tiers were hit which means everyone can claim 20 uncapped TPE plus a PT doubles week! To claim just link to this post, you can claim all the 20 at once and the doubles week can be claimed with any PT made between now and the end of January 2023.

Of course you can! Hitting all those tiers also means we get some bonus gifts from myself, @nurx, @Phil, and @DarkSpyro so get ready for some ridiculous streams and things in the new year. We’ll get the dates for their drops figured out and added to the events calendar soon.

Speaking of adding things to the events calendar: I’ll be streaming the results of the 12 days raffle sometime in the coming weeks so I’ll let you all know when that’s gonna be.

Thank you to everyone for once again making the VHL holiday season an amazing time and for your great donations to worthwhile causes. Go and enjoy your TPE and we’ll see you later today for sims!

    - @Commissioner

Edit: It has been pointed out that math and I don’t get along well, I have corrected the post to 20 uncapped as it should have been rather than the 18 I originally said.

Tim Robinson reacted to MubbleFubbles in Help For Finding Trivia Answers
For anyone who is not on the VHL discord or has never been for help regarding it, one of the most common problems that comes up regarding trivia is that the answer that the VHL Portal would suggest is the answer to your trivia question is not presented as an option for you to answer the question with. This does not mean that the answer to the trivia question is wrong, but more likely that the portal is lacking or has incorrect information. But since not everyone visits the discord, I’ve decided to write a short media of when and when not to use the Portal to answer your VHL Trivia question, and if not to use the Portal, where to use instead. Hopefully I will cover all bases, but if I don’t for whatever reason, please let me know in the responses and I’ll edit accordingly.

For those who want the TL:DR, check the spoiler tag below

What Can I Use The Portal To Find?

    Hall of Fame Players/Builders

    Inducted Players Link
    Inducted Builders Link

While most of our historical information that was written on the site has stayed on the site in some form, Hall of Fame player and builder articles that were originally written and stored on the forum have now been moved to the Hall of Fame area. Recently written ones may be found submitted as Media Spots but the easiest (and only in the case of everyone inducted before S35) place to look if you are after HOF Players and Builders are these portal links. I have had at least one question that pertains to Hall of Fame inductees and I was able to find the answer on the portal.

    VHL/VHLM Awards

    VHL Awards
    VHLM Awards

Like the Hall of Fame player and builder articles, while awards were originally stored on the forum, they have been completely moved over to the VHL Portal. Especially for individual awards, the best place to look for the answer to any question that refers to players who have won these awards would be on the VHL/VHLM links above, although there is also a good spreadsheet for repeat award winners on the forum. For team awards, you can also find the winning franchises in those respective links along with the Continental Cup and Founders Cup pages, however there are places on the forum that may serve to answer particular trivia questions related to team awards better which I will cover later.

Note that there is currently no VHLE awards section in the portal, if there happens to be a question pertaining to VHLE awards you can find the respective winners for Season 80, Season 81 and Season 82 at those links.

    VHL/VHLE/VHLM Drafts (Season 62 – Present Day)

    Draft Page

From the Season 62 VHL Draft onwards, drafts took place on the VHL Portal directly rather than GMs manually inputting their picks in through posts on a forum page. Therefore, you can find the VHL Drafts from Season 62 onwards, the VHLM Drafts from Season 63 onwards and every VHLE Draft on this page.

    Trades (Season 64 Onwards)

    Trade Page

While I have yet to see any questions talking about trades, if one does come up in the future, you can quickly find any trade made from Season 64 onwards using the page above. There are also trade threads and a written record of all trades on the forum, but the portal will be quicker to answer questions from Season 64 onwards.

    GM Stats

    https://vhlportal.com/hof/careerstats/gm

While the career stats for players and goalies in the portals should NOT be used, it seems like GM stats are, from what I’ve checked, reliable. They don’t include any GM stats from Seasons 1-17 and while the forum does contain records of who was GM in those seasons, there’s no specific GM stats on the forum. Therefore, if you do get a question pertaining to a GM’s record, you can use this page or the “GM Stats” tab on a Team Page.

Specific Player Stats In A Season (Season 20-Present)

    VHL Index Archive

I have had some questions in the trivia that refer to specific stats in a given season. If you get the same, or in fact any question that requires you to go back to a specific season, then the best place to look would be the VHL Index Archive, where you will find all of the indexes from Season 20 to present day. It is worth pointing out that while the VHLM index archive stops at Season 35, you can find VHLM indexes for seasons 20-34 in the Farm section of the VHL index for the respective seasons. While they not on the portal, you can also find the VHL Season 18 and Season 19 indexes at the respective links.

Note: Even if the seasons are available to do so, I would avoid using the League Leaders and League Overall pages on the portal as it splits up stats for players who are traded, whereas the indexes do not, making it easier to see where a player ranks among the league in the indexes than on those pages.

VHL Player Page (Season 50 Onwards)

If you are really struggling to find an answer to a question that requires a specific player for an answer, you could also use the Portal’s search function to find the season by season stats for a player. However, this only works for players who were in the VHL from Season 50 onwards (although there are still a few missing who were in the league from S50-59). If the member used the portal to update their player from Season 60 onwards, you can also use their username to search for any of their players.

What Can I Use The Forum To Find?

    VHL/VHLM Drafts (Season 1-72)

    VHL Drafts
    VHLM Drafts

For all the drafts that took place before we were able to draft directly from the portal, you can find them on the forum. Note that all the Draft threads are pinned and that there are unpinned discussion threads in the same forum, so the Season 1 Draft is not on the last page, but on page 4.

There is also a Draft History thread in the VHL Hall of Fame forum that keeps track of a lot of cool VHL Draft stats.

    VHL Season Records

    VHL Records

One of the more common question topics for trivia, but unfortunately the records page in the portal is not reliable (On top of not having most players from before Season 47, Seasons 18, 36 and 40 are double counted leaving to incorrect large figures for players who played in those seasons, points for a defenseman records are mainly players who were forward at the time and moved to defenseman later on, save percentage has no min. games requirement). Luckily, the pages on the forum are fully updated and contain both player and team records. Note that unless stated otherwise, any mention regarding records in trivia questions will pertain to the VHL

    VHL Player Career Stats

    Career Stats (Regular Season)
    Career Stats (Playoffs)

For the same reason as the records, the portal is unreliable when it comes to career stats (For example, the Portal has the leading goalie as Brick Wahl, but that’s because it has fused both Advantage’s and BladeMaiden’s Brick Wahl stats together). Victor has been an absolute pro at getting the forum career stats up to date for Season 82. These sheets do NOT contain career stats of players who are currently playing, but I don’t think career stats for a player still playing will be used in a trivia question anyway. If for whatever reason a question does ask about career stats of an active player, use the Player Search to find it.

    Trades (Season 1-67)

    Trades (Season 1-34)
    Trades (Season 35-67)

Like I mentioned before, I haven’t seen any questions mention trades as of yet, but if one were to come along and it mentioned trades prior to the point in the league where trades were done through the portal, then you can refer to the links above to find every trade from Season 1 to Season 67.

    Miscellaneous

We’ve gathered a lot of stats over the years and a lot of them can be found in our Hall of Fame, but since they’re spread across a few forums, you might wonder if you’re looking in the right place for something. I’ll try and describe best I can where to find certain information

Go HERE (specifically the threads under the sub-forums) for facts pertaining to league history. E.g. How well a player did in the league, how well a team did in the league, facts about the draft, etc.

Go HERE for details pertaining to a franchise’s history E.g. Who’s jersey has a franchise retired, who has been the captain or GM for a franchise, what did a franchise use to be called, etc.

Go HERE for VHLM equivalents of the same questions above.

But one thing to consider, if something is asking you to count how many times something has happened, there’s a good chance that somewhere (in the first forum I linked to in particular) will have counted it already for you.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So yeah, hopefully this helps a little bit with figuring out where to look for certain trivia questions.

Tim Robinson reacted to Dabnad in The first Shaw
Hello everyone, Shaw is back writing stuff, for now that is, and today, we will be talking about my experience for Dabnad. Dabnad Shaw is the first member of the (non-Goalie Shaw) Shaw family. He’s a defensemen who’s good at stoping pucks for the goalie (ask @comrade catI single handedly reduce his shots against by like 2 a game) and he sometimes helps on the other side of the ice as well. Today we will talking about his journey and accomplishments over his life and see what type of a player he is.

    THE VHLM
Shaw started off his carrer half way through the VHLM where he was signed to the Mexico City Kings by Mr. @youloser1337where he was met with many of his best friends (and best enemy’s). One of his best friends he met there was Ronan Lavelle @Arce. Arce (also known as Arcey, RC, R man, R McRman, the Ranator, Perry the Platypus and many more) was a smart forward. He was smart, dashing, and old and very mature. Arcey is now a very active member however, back when we met he was a very shy member (this is a lie). The other person he met there was the worst person he’s ever met. Shaw hated him soo much he met them again in Malmo and wanted to trade them for a 4th. This person was @comrade cat. Now, whatever I said about Cat was a lie, he’s a very nice person (mostly) and an active presence in the locker room, a great goalie, and a damn good teammate. Shaw, Arcey, and Cat together we’re known as the 3 mosquitos musketeers, this term was famously coined by @Lemorse7who is another friend of ours. This team was very well done and went long ways in the playoffs, not very long but still, and had a damn good time with the locker room chemistry being one of the best Shaw has ever seen. After this Shaw came into the VHLE after playing just 36+4 games in the VHLM.

    VHLE
The VHLE was also a fun experience for Shaw, here he met a very fun person named @UnknownMinion(I think this is him?) as our GM. He was also another smart and kind person that everyone liked (Can my family be let go now?). In the VHLE, we also see Arcey join us on our journey
at the Rush where he recorded 3 times as many points as me, forwards these days, where I recorded 37, remember this as this will be important in the future. Other than this, nothing as exciting happened in the VHLE. This was a fun year as well.
    VHL
Now, onto the big leagues, here, Shaw was drafted to Malmo where he met @Dom, the best way to describe Dom is that he is who he is, he is Dom. That might be confusing but you get what I mean when you meet him. The first few season went well, then we meet Cat @comrade catonce again, Cat was traded here for a 4th and a great active member once again. At first, he was inactive however, he became active after we convinced him to become active. Sadly after a while, Dom had to retire from GMing which is when we meet @KaleebtheMighty. Kaleeb is a very good GM who encourages us in any way possible. In the VHL Shaw has recorded points consisting of 38,39, and 40. So from the VHLE he has gotten points of 37,38,39 and 40, pretty interesting isn’t it? We also meet @Steve, Steve is the old and mature on in the group who can literally be mine and Cat’s parents.

Well, that’s my first gen experience for Shaw, a fun and well done time for everyone. I’ve loved my time here and hope to spend as much time here as possible, other than that, this is Dabnad Shaw signing off once again and until next time, see y’a!

Lately, I have been making Graphics for my points tasks, seeing how I recently did a Mason Jones signature and a Siyan Yasilievich one I am kinda drawing a blank for which first gen I would’ve made a graphic for.
I was looking for other first gens and that’s when it hit me. I could make a great team just based on the first gen players. There are so many talented users on the forums, it’d be hard to honor them all but I wanted to build a team for as many as I can just to showcase our community!
Side note: The jersey design and team name are my AHL team in my franchise mode for NHL23. I was just really proud of how they turned out and figured with the theme it’d be a fitting name.

    Offense
    Girts Galvins @Girts - Daniel Janser @Daniel Janser - Alexandre Leduc @Lemorse7
Mason Jones @Masu Chan- Wann Kerr @VattghernCZ- Sadie St Louis @sadie
    Tom Creeg @Creegan610 - Johnny Xavier @Johnny_HX - Gus Bently @boatsinking123
    Hayden Rain @Rain - John Richards @John Cimarno - Adam Rage @MrMom

    Defense
    Siyan Yasilevich @badcolethetitan - Bo Johansson @Shindigs
Marcel Janser @Morcar80- Mo Probert @Yahtzee
    Jens Lekman @Bobcat - Curtis Crumb @Crummer77

    Goalies
    Lachlan Summers @kirbithan
    Evan Bihler @Eb14

I’m gonna do a summary of some of my picks in an attempt to explain my thinking behind some of them. There are probably a few names I missed, most likely big ones as well. I’ve been in the league for a year in real life and a lot of the names on this list already feel like veterans and it’s hard to believe they are first gen players.
A lot of these names were also on my previous dream team, but that was for good reason as either I have played with them, managed them before or they have a build that I am interested in.
If I had to name captains on this team I’d likely give the C to Bo Johansson. Their commitment to the community is next level, they are a top earner and maybe the most active person I have interacted with for my first year in this league. I’ve seen them chat in all the Locker Rooms I have been a part of thus far. The A’s would go to Daniel Janser and Siyan Yasilevich, either one of those two could’ve competed for the C as both have dedicated so much time to this league and have helped develop so many players already into their GM-ing careers. Siyan would likely be a spark for the youth of any team, he loves to chat about anime and video games and I think Janser would be a great counterpart to him.
I haven’t interacted much with our starting Goalie, Lachlan Summers besides when I briefly managed them in the JST. They were a key part of that team and even though we didn’t succeed I couldn’t have asked for a better goalie. Lachlan was a nice, encouraging person at the time and I have only heard praise for them their entire time in the league.
Our backup goalie is a personal favorite of mine as they recently led the Reapers to a championship. Evan Bihler was a joy to interact with when I GM’d for them in the VHLM and I believe they’d be a dark horse pick in this situation.
Even in NHL games, I like having siblings on the same team. It’s not the only reason I picked Marcel Janser to be on this team, but it made the decision a lot easier. Marcel has been great in recent seasons. If he was ever considered an underdog, he has definitely proved himself at the VHL level, and If your team could afford to play him on the second pair then you’re in great shape.
The last one I’ll cover is Alexandre Leduc. Lemorse is another player on this team that is hard to believe they are a first gen player. They are a natural, which was only proven when they took over management for the Reapers and won the championship in the same season. I think Lemorse is a must-have on any team at this point and would have a ton to add to the locker room.
