  1. Answers 1. I feel like most of them are justified. Some of them it should punish the GM more than punish the pick as for some of the team's don't even own their pick. 2. Better than the All-Star Game. I hope they keep it, but they probably won't, especially with the World Cup of Hockey and Olympics. 3. Winter: Snowy, Spring: Rainy, Summer: Hot, Fall: Chill. I have no clue, but that would be my best guesses. Questions 1. If you could play with one VHL player in real life, who would you choose? 2. Which team in the VHL that is rebuilding do you think will take the jump and make the playoffs this upcoming season? 3. What did you do for Valentine's Day?
  2. Review: This is for sure a different graphic compared to what most people have done. Starting off, I don't think I've ever seen someone put a gif in the corner of a sig like that. It is a really cool idea and honestly, I love the creativity. The graphic fits together extremely well and everything in the graphic just blends together. I really like the text as well. The background fits in with the coloring too. The only small thing I can even see, but that's because I zoomed in a bit is that the posts are a bit pixelated and the logo/shoulder. However, it is so miniscule that I don't really think it matters. Regardless, this is a fantastic graphic and I hope you make more! Rating: 10/10
  3. TL;DR He's retiring and stepping down. Didn't mean to play bot more than 8, left it as starter too long.
  4. Why did we all decide to cheat when I traded away my 1st, to now give NYA better odds. You guys stink! Why didn't you cheat when I was tanking!
  5. Wildcard vs. Wildcard here it comes!
  6. Tough Way to Lose for the New York Americans and George Richmond New York Americans vs. Seattle Bears - Wildcard Matchup The New York Americans took on the Seattle Bears in the wildcard matchup for the playoffs, a tough matchup for both the teams. Coming into the matchup, both teams have shown they have flashes where they can easily be the best team in the league, but they've also showed they can struggle a lot. The Americans coming in had their hopes high, as they believed they could make a run to the finals with this roster, however, that's not what ended up happening. The Americans would ultimately fall in 4 games to the Bears, losing the series 3-1. What really stings for the Americans, is they outshot the Bears in every single game, but just couldn't find the back of the net. George Richmond was able to put up 5 points in 4 games played, with 2 goals and 3 assists. He also was a +1 despite the loss, being the only plus on the roster in that series. "It for sure stings. It's tough going from a new team to the opposite end of the world, only then to lose in the wildcard matchup. I felt like I played some of my best hockey this season and even in the playoffs. Could I have scored more goals? Of course I could've, but you have to be realistic. Unfortunately, we just weren't the better team and we fell short. I need to step up my game another level if I want to help take this team far into the playoffs in the future. My career is starting to come to a close and I need to be able to leave my legacy on the ice, with whatever franchise it might be. Moving forward, I will take more accountability and voice my opinion to others, so that we can become the best version possible of the New York Americans. I love this team, I love the city, and I love the fans. They deserve a cup and I'm going to try to bring one to them." George Richmond had a fantastic season with NYA, tallying 103 points in the regular season, and then 5 in the playoffs. There are a lot of questions though for New York heading into next season, as nobody truly knows what the future for this team holds. Regardless, Richmond will continue to play his heart out for whatever team he is on, whether that be NYA, MOS, or another team. He loves the sport and wants to bring any franchise a championship trophy at the end of the season. Interviewer: Do you regret leaving Moscow, as they are currently in the conference finals and look like they're going to make another cup run? "I mean, I for sure miss some people in that organization. I had a lot of friends there and to leave them like that, it's tough. However, hockey is an entertainment business. You want to do the best thing you can to bring your franchise a championship, and if that means me leaving Moscow was the right move for them, I don't fault them for it at all. I'm glad they're doing very well and I hope my friend Bocage can win another cup. Regardless, I'm with New York now and I need to focus on what we have in store!"
  7. Answers 1. As the game is officially over, I'm glad the Chiefs lost. I'm not the biggest fan of the Eagles, but it's finally nice to see someone take them down. 2. I would probably make it so wildcard for playoffs is not just "2 EU 2 NA", but instead the 4 teams with points who qualify for those spots. 3. I think the best street food I've ever had was Tacos. They were from a food truck and were really good, however, I don't think that specific food truck exists anymore. Questions 1. Only Four teams remaining in the VHL playoffs, Seattle, Toronto, Riga, and Moscow. Who do you have winning it all? 2. The Four Nations is coming up, who do you have winning it all and why? 3. Would you rather time travel to the past, or to the present and why?
  8. Bold of you to assume that my team has a first.
  9. Dang it, didn't get last
  10. Chicago heartbreak and Richmond ready for playoffs Chicago fails to qualify The Chicago Phoenix have failed to qualify for the playoffs, dropping a 40-23-9 record with 89 points. Usually, this would be enough to easily secure a wildcard and contend for the playoffs, however, the NA was extremely competitive and Chicago missed by just two points. Meanwhile, in the European Conference, a team with 48 points and 20 wins was able to secure a spot in the playoffs. Regardless, Chicago could've made the playoffs with a couple more wins and they're in a tough spot moving forward. They've got an aging core and a rebuild looks like it's destined to happen, so it's an unfortunate way to send off a lot of their players. Failing to secure a playoff spot with a great team is always rough, but what's even more rough is they don't even have their first round pick. NYA has a shot at securing 1OA while being a playoff team, because Chicago failed to qualify for playoffs which would be the ultimate slap in the face. Despite amazing seasons from Spanish Moon Moth, Joshua Schwarzer, YaBoi Oven and more, it just wasn't enough at the end of the day. However, the good news is that Chicago will be able to secure a ton of assets should teams want these players, because they're coming off of amazing seasons and have shown they can compete at the top and be some of the best players in the league. Richmond and NYA gear up for playoffs On the flip side, NYA was able to secure a playoff spot on the last day of the regular season. Led by George Richmond, the Americans are looking to finally make some noise in the playoffs, but it'll all start in the wildcard game against the Seattle Bears. No game in the NA Conference is going to be easy, so NYA better be in for a grind this playoffs against some of the best teams in the playoffs. On top of that, should they win against Seattle, they're gonna have to match up against the Vancouver Wolves in the second round which won't be an easy series. George Richmond's point production has slipped a bit, going from 109 points on Moscow to 103 on New York, but New York historically is a more defensive team, explaining the drop off in points. Richmond was able to tally 44 goals, 59 assists, good for 103 points and a +24, with his goals being a career high. On top of that, he had way more hits this season, more shot blocks, and more penalties. Richmond stepped into a more two way role, helping his team offensively and defensively on both sides of the puck, while being a top player in the league. "I feel like I bought in to the systems this season for NYA and tried my best to impress," stated Richmond. Richmond will be competing in his 5th playoffs, making it to the post-season every single season in his VHL career. Regardless, New York is going up against Seattle who is a great team without a doubt, and it's going to be a tough matchup for the Americans!
  11. Answers 1. I am a fan of football and basketball, mainly college. However, I watch NFL, but the Bears suck. 2. I would save the money, the Sabres cannot be saved regardless. 3. I once swam with a turtle in Hawaii in the ocean, only to find out later that it was against the rules. Questions 1. Are you excited for the Four Nations event? Why or why not? 2. Now that the VHL is officially in playoffs, who do you think is going to win it all and why? 3. What was your New Year's Resolution? If you didn't have one, do you plan on making one?
  12. Answers 1. My player's idol is Tage Thompson. He is one of my favorite players and I think he's pretty good despite being on a bad team. 2. I think my player has performed better than expected, however it's hard to have expectations with a new team as I got traded from Moscow to New York. 3. I would assume NYAs rival would be Chicago as they don't like Chicago very much. They would probably prepare by music or something. Questions 1. Which VHL team do you think should rebrand/relocate and why? 2. Would you rather have aliens or ghosts be real and why? 3. What are your thoughts on Rantanen trade in the NHL? Do you think we could see more big names move this season?
  13. Trading is already very scarce now. Wouldn’t this make it worse? If you think it’s a good idea and the majority does, my opinion does not matter at the end of the day. It seems the majority would want the change so my argument is essentially invalid. I don't really care if it becomes a thing or not, because at the end of the day, I play in the league and I manage a team. I will just have to adapt and as someone who values my players decisions, I wouldn't care about hostaging players to get a better pick regardless. I would just trade them away if they wanted to leave and that's just who I am. It doesn't matter who it is, if they're not having fun on my team and they asked to leave, they will be traded. I want everyone to enjoy their experience in the VHL even if it means hurting my team slightly.
  14. S97 Trade Deadline: Where is it? What's happening? Many people are wondering, where are the trades? As of 1/22/2025, we've had not a single trade this week with the trade deadline currently set for tomorrow, 1/23/2025, however, why is this? Well, this trade deadline there are essentially two big reasons why there is really no market for buying and selling. The first reason is the NA Wildcard Race, with currently NYA, SEA, TOR, and CHI all in the running for three spots. Usually at this time each season, there are teams that are looking to be in the playoffs and teams that are obvious sellers, ready to sell the team away and build for the upcoming season. However, all four of these teams are very close together, with only 5 points separating the difference between 3rd in NA and 6th, hence why none of those teams are selling and are instead, looking to buy. Most of these teams have valuable assets, or players that only have a season or two left and could get fairly good return in value if they were to trade them away, however, all of these teams are so close in the standings and making the playoffs, why would you? Every team wants to compete and try to slide in and are betting on their chances in the playoffs, and we all know once you make the playoffs, anything can happen. This then makes it so there are more buyers than sellers at the TDL, however, that should be good for the sellers right? Well, not necessarily if there are no sellers. Currently DC and LA are for sure out of the playoffs in NA barring a miracle for DC to win out and same with LA. As for EU, I mean I guess every single team is still in playoff contention with PRG, LDN, HSK, and WAR all battling it out for the last playoff spot, but none of those teams really want to make the playoffs. The second big reason why there is no market is a lot of these lower tier teams either have very young prospects that they would never do away with unless you extremely overpay (which no one is going to do), or they have old players that are not really much of an upgrade, if any, for the top teams. Basically, this means there is nobody being traded at the end of the day. These two reasons are the big reason why there isn't really going to be any movement near TDL and completing an offer at this point is almost impossible. There is not any big names on the market, there are almost no upgrades, and bottom teams are fine staying put with what they have. It's unfortunate because people are for sure looking for big moves to be made on TDL day, or even before, but at this point, it will be very unlikely there's a trade. There could be one or two very small ones potentially, but as of writing this, I doubt there will be any. Most teams will ride it out and see how their season goes, however, we could be in for a huge off-season at this point. Teams will re-evaluate their roster and we could have lots of movement in the off-season.
  15. The only negative for "Gold Drafting" is that teams will continue to tank (have same incentive as to) and then refuse to trade players away at TDL, creating a market where there is essentially a fair amount of buyers (as there always is), but no sellers. This would then skyrocket prices to the point where top teams won't be able to improve without giving up a ton of assets that really wouldn't make sense. However, realistically, this isn't the biggest issue. The biggest issue is that these players who are now out of playoffs and fighting for a top pick, GMs will not trade those players as they'll want to win, leading to potential players becoming unhappy with the fact they cannot play in playoffs. Example: Imagine you're on your last season and you end up going to a team who you think can make playoffs, however, it didn't turn out that way. You ask your GM for a trade, but he wants to keep you to have a higher chance at the top pick, since you're a player that is valuable to the teams success. You now have wasted your last season instead of going for a cup and there's nothing you can essentially do about it. At the moment, we have a smaller player base than in the past and this could make it so people will not want to come back in the future, as they're left with a bad experience, further depleting the small(ish) player base we currently have. However, this could be an extreme and happen to only a handful of people at the end of the day. I think the "Gold Drafting" has it's pros and cons at the end of the day, as does everything. Personally, I don't really care for either (current system or gold drafting) as I'm pretty much go with the flow type of person. I just wanted to point out the potential negatives and pushback on something that everyone is currently seeing as a positive to give you another perspective. I don't want to seem like a negative nancy and shoot you all down, at the end of the day, I don't think it's a terrible idea. I just think it could have negative results that people aren't thinking about. Great article, loved reading it!
  16. George Richmond find his footing in New York (credit to @STZ) The Last Stretch George Richmond has finally settled into his game with the New York Americans and we're only 45 games into the season. Richmond after being traded from the Moscow Menace to New York struggled early on in the season, not really performing at the level he could, however, he's finally started to find his game. Richmond currently has 64 points this season, leading his team in that department. On top of that, he's finally reached the 30 goal mark and is on pace for 48 goals, which would be a career high for Richmond. He's only reached the 40 goal mark once in his career and that was with Moscow, so being able to reach it with two teams would be very impressive. Richmond leads the team in goals, assists, and points showing he is the complete package for the Americans on offense. Defensively, he has fairly good numbers as well, with being second in hits on the team, and 32 shot blocks, the second most out of any forward on the team. He's putting up numbers offensive and defensively and doing his best to will this New York Americans team to the playoffs, as they currently sit just one point out with 27 games left. There is a lot of time remaining this season, but the Americans want to continue their winning ways, as they are on a four game win streak currently. Richmond had this to say about the team's performance this season so far, "I think we've played alright this season. The North American Conference is not easy, with multiple teams trying to slide into the playoffs, it's for sure difficult for us day in and day out. Besides LA, it seems like every team is not an easy win and you have to come to play, otherwise you will lose. As for myself, I've been trying to level up my game and adapt to the system that New York plays. I think without a doubt that the Americans run a more defensive styled game than Moscow, the old team I was on, so I've been trying to adapt. I have been doing well so far, but I think I can provide a bit more to the team and help us get huge wins which could slide us into the playoffs. Anyone knows the second you make the playoffs, records don't matter as anything can happen. I will do my best to continue to perform and provide that extra jump that the team needs." One thing is for certain though, the NA playoffs will come down to the last day of the regular season. With Seattle, Toronto, Chicago, and New York all attempting to secure a playoff spot, it won't be easy as one of these teams will be left out. Trade Deadline Day will be another thing to keep an eye on, as there are key teams in the race that could add to their roster to attempt to make an extra push to make the playoffs. Regardless, it's going to be a fantastic finish and one that the Americans hope to be on the positive side of.
  17. Answers 1. I would go on Family Feud and bring my family. My grandma loves that show, so I think it would be a great choice. 2. I don't think my player would. He is pretty unselfish, but I think it could be cool to make a tribute song for a player. It could be their goal song! 3. I don't watch much TV, but if I had to choose any the TV series/show I watched recently was Squid Game. So I would choose that. Questions 1. If you've been following the NHL, you know that potentially JT Miller will be dealt to another team. What team do you think he fits the best on and why? 2. Do you think wildcards in the VHL should be decided by points instead of two from each conference? Why or why not? 3. How do you think your player would do in Squid Game? Would you end up winning or would you be one of the first ones out?
  18. Ranking VHLM Teams on if I can beat their mascot in a fight Last time, I ranked VHL teams on if I could beat their mascot in a fight, but now we're going to go to the VHLM! I'm going to rank them from 10 to 1 on least likely to most likely. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the fun article! Mascots I can beat Rank 10: Las Vegas Aces Description: Honestly, this is probably going to be the easiest one out of the entire list. It is literally a playing card and if I somehow cannot beat a single playing card in a fight, I stand no chance to survive in real life. Like actually, this might be the freest win of all time. Even if there's multiple "Ace" cards I should win. Mascots I would be 50/50 on beating Rank 9: Mississauga Hounds Description: Realistically, this isn't going to be an easy fight depending on which hound it is. I'm just assuming it's a generic "hound" and I think I could stand a chance, but I wouldn't get out without a scratch. The sad part is, this is probably one of the easier ones as there's a fair amount I don't think I'll ever win. On top of that, if it's multiple hounds, might be very difficult. Rank 8: Saskatoon Wild Description: If this is the entire wild, I'm screwed and stand no chance. However, with their logo, it looks like some sort of bobcat or something like the Lynx and I think I stand an okay chance at winning. I mean again, when I say okay, it doesn't mean I'll win. There's a fair chance I just get rocked. Rank 7: Ottawa Lynx Description: Basically the same thing as the wild, If it's a single one I might have a chance, however, if it's multiple, no chance. The issue is I'm going in with my bare hands and although I might end up winning, there's a chance I just lose an arm or a leg and I'm done for. Rank 6: Mexico City Kings Description: The way I would beat a King is assuming they have no one else helping and it's a fist fight. I stand a chance, but if they're got a sword and armor, I might as well just forfeit as there's no way I'm going to win. Especially if it's "Kings" and not just one king. Rank 5: Miami Marauders Description: Kind of the same thing as Mexico City, if they're unarmed I stand a decent chance, but give them a cutlass or something and I don't think I'm winning. On top of that, it's Marauders so I think there's more than one, might be done for. Mascots that would easily beat me Rank 4: Philadelphia Reapers Description: There are multiple Grim Reapers coming after me and there is no chance I win. I mean, they are literally the symbol of death, I stand no chance. Maybe they'll let me off easy and all go away and I'll win by forfeit? Rank 3: Houston Bulls Description: Yeah, multiple bulls and I have to win with my hands? No chance. Even if there was one bull, I don't think I could even win. They are crazy strong and with no weapon, I'm toast. Rank 2: San Diego Marlins Description: Okay, here's the issue. If we're on land, I will literally just win by forfeit as they can't really do much, however, I'm assuming I am in their home territory which would be the ocean. There is no chance I am even going to be able to catch this thing, let alone beat it. On top of that, it's not just one, it's multiple. I might as well say goodbye. Rank 1: Halifax 21st Description: It is literally a giant boat that looks like the Titanic. In what world can I even beat this thing? I don't even think I can damage it at all with my hands without breaking them and if I somehow had to take it out, it literally is impossible for me to even with a weapon I'm pretty sure. There is no chance I'd win and I would actually just forfeit and not even try.
  19. Review: The graphic we have here is an autographed Gavilrovs card and it is extremely well done. I like the jersey swap and the logo placement on the jersey, it looks like it fits in and that's usually the hardest part. The signature added to the card is perfect and most of the coloring of the card matches the team brand. Personally, I would change the text at the bottom to something else, as it feels like it doesn't belong much on the card. I would also probably add some sort of drop shadow on the logo at the top right, but that's very picky. Overall, this is a great graphic and I love the card! Rating: 8.5/10
  20. Answers 1. My player has been doing alright. I'm on a team that has lower scoring, so my players overall points will be down. 2. As I am a GM, I would be upgrading the team at TDL to give them the best chance to win the cup. I would upgrade the depth. 3. Probably Spiders. I don't like spiders at all, they creep me out. Questions 1. If you could add another player attribute to VHL what would it be and why? 2. After the IIHF WJC, what do you think is the best way to construct a roster? True firepower or chemistry? 3. Which team in the VHL do you believe is cursed the most? Why are they cursed?
