  1. 1. Either Slapshot Rebound or Terraria as that's what I've been playing recently. 2. I found out about VHL through Sam and JB in a different hockey server. 3. I prefer to do graphics, but when I don't really have any inspiration or graphics to do, I do a media spot instead. Ask 1. Are you looking forward to the M, E, or VHL draft and why? 2. What's your New Years resolution? 3. Which team is going to win the cup in either the VHL, M, or E and why?
  2. Merry Christmas! Also to all E/VHL GMs looking to draft me, I’ll be spending one season in the E. 👍🏻

@N0HBDY Nah, I just don't want to deal with 12% regression to be honest.

  3. Graphic Review: Starting off, I really like the overall design. I'm a fan of things that look very basic, but are sleek at the same time, and I feel like this for sure fits that category. The background jersey fits in very well, and you even added the Davos logo with I'm assuming the word "Davos" across the jersey, which is a nice touch. On top of that, you stuck with the purple theme and also the black, which compliment each other very well. One word of advice if you're going to add logos to jerseys, is try to mess with the brightness/contrast to make it look like it actually belongs on the jersey. I'm still working on this myself, but if you can get it to work, it makes it look even better. Overall, you did a fantastic job and great graphic! Rating: 8.5/10
  4. Thanks for the trade talks @KaleebtheMighty Welcome to Chicago! @qripll

  6. Upcoming VHL draft, what do we have in store? Very short draft This years draft is going to be a quick one, as compared to the past drafts in the VHL, there just isn't enough players, however, there are still some quality players in the draft. Projected to go first overall is Logan Ninefingers, who had an amazing season in the M, and could be ready for the VHL as soon as this season. Should the VHL GM they get drafted by want them to play up, they could be ready to play and be the only player out of the draft that would be playing up. Otherwise, I could see every single player in this draft immediately playing in the E for a season, to dodge the 12% depreciation that most players do not want to deal with. As for George Richmond, he'll be staying down a season in the E regardless, as at his current TPE mark, he feels like he won't be able to make that much of an impact moving forward this season. It'll be very interesting to see how the draft pans out, as a lot of the top players are very close in TPE and anything could happen this season.
  7. 1. After they beat Chicago, I had them going all the way. 2. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that a European time wins it, maybe Riga or something. 3. I'm going to go with Logan Ninefingers. Ask 3 1. Where will your player be playing next season? 2. What team has been the biggest surprise this season in either the VHL, VHLE, or the VHLM? 3. How is your favorite sports team doing, if you have one?
  8. The Fact Scotty is probably not going to win is a little crazy
  9. I haven't posted in every thread, but might as well in this one!
  10. Hope to see you around still! One day you'll make a return, hopefully!
  11. George Richmond Gearing Up for the Draft Playoffs Come to an End The Ottawa Lynx are officially eliminated from the playoffs, as they fell to the Philadelphia Reapers in five games. Richmond had an impressive playoff run, putting up 18 points in 10 games played, with 8 goals, 10 assists, and a +8 in the playoffs alone. As for the regular season, he eclipsed the 100 point mark, with 46 goals, 55 assists, and a +44 for the Lynx in 72 games played. The Lynx had high hopes for the playoffs, as they were one of the top seeds coming into the playoffs and ultimately, the goal was a cup. However, now with them failing to qualify for the finals, Richmond will be rooting for the Saskatoon Wild and his good friend @ToddlyBobbly. As quoted in the end of season locker room clean out, he had to say this, "I hope that Saskatoon wins it all. It's going to be tough for them, but with a fantastic goaltender and a great team all-around, I feel like it can be done. A good friend of mine is on that team and is having a fantastic season, so I hope he can come out with a championship. As for me, I'll be heading to the E, then the VHL after that. I will be looking forward to the future!" Where will George Richmond Land? Continuing on with where Richmond will land, he is currently projected to go 2nd in the upcoming S92 VHL Entry Draft, however, rankings don't mean everything. He was projected to go 1st overall in the VHLM Draft, however, he ended up sliding all the way out of the 1st round, so anything can happen. Currently, the team with the 2nd overall pick would be the Moscow Menace, which would potentially select him with that pick. He would be joining a young core of players as they continue on their rebuild. Richmond had this to say about potentially going to Moscow, "I'd love to play for any team that drafts me to be honest. I feel like you shouldn't be picky with the team you end up getting selected to, as they're already willing to take that risk on you. You don't represent your name on the back of the jersey, you play for the logo in front. I feel like that's a really big thing that most people forget about, where as I really pride myself on playing for the organization that is committed to me." Richmond will be a top prospect heading into the draft and we'll have to see where he ends up come draft night! Miscellaneous about the Draft Please, don't hesitate to shoot me a message, even if you are thinking about potentially moving up GMs! I will make sure to respond to every message that I receive about the draft, whether that be the VHL or the VHLE. I'm always around and am looking forward to playing for any of your teams in the future! Good luck at the draft and hopefully everything goes as planned! Words: 506
  12. 2: I actually have no clue to be honest. Anything with food, or a sports team company would be the best. 4: Ryan Miller. I'm a huge Sabres fan and he was the first goalie I watched growing up. 5: I enjoy watching College Football and also basketball. 6: The Life of Pi. I didn't really like it when I watched it, went to see it with family. 7: My favorite color is blue. I like a lighter blue, but navy blue is fine as well. 8: I will probably get a dog when I move out. I don't know what type of dog, but I plan on getting one!
  13. George Richmond and the Ottawa Lynx Heading to the Second Round Regular Season Recap Out of the draft, where he was drafted 11th overall, Richmond had something to prove to the general managers in the VHLM. A player who was projected to go in the top 3, now slid outside of the first round entirely, did raise some question marks for Richmond. However, he had a fantastic season, putting up 101 points with the Lynx, with 46 goals and 55 assists, and a +44 on the season. Richmond was a top ten player this season and helped lead his team to the playoffs, where they'd be taking on the Miami Marauders. Playoffs vs. the Miami Marauders The first round matchup for the Lynx had them favored, however, they still had to show up and take care of business. It was going to be a tough series, as despite Miami not having the best roster, they still had put up a fairly solid record and were going to be a difficult opponent. It took the Lynx five games, where they ultimately would take down the Marauders. Led by Richmond, who had 13 points in just 5 games, they'd be moving onto the second round, where they would be playing the Philadelphia Reapers. A tough opponent lays ahead of them if Richmond wants to win a cup, but his eyes are more focused on the future, the VHL and VHLE draft. We spoke to Richmond and his thoughts, to which he said, "I mean obviously I do still care about my performance in the M and I want to win a cup with Ottawa. They ended up drafting me at 11th overall and despite sliding, they knew that it was the right decision. Ultimately though, my stint in Ottawa will be short, and I'm looking forward to see where I go in the VHL and also the VHLE, where I will spend one season down in the E. I will be in attendance for the VHL lottery, and my plan is to attempt to go first overall again. At the end of the day though, I would love to play for any organization that is willing to call my name." Chicago Phoenix First Round Matchup The Chicago Phoenix will be taking on the Toronto Legion in the first round, where they are heavy underdogs. Many people have Chicago going out in the first round, without winning a single game. Yes, the TPE gap is insane, actually 300+ on average, but Chicago has magically found themselves in the playoffs and kept games close. The biggest question mark for Chicago is going to be if they are truly ready for the playoffs, and can they contend with some of the best teams in the league. The team itself is built off of Scotty Sundin, and if he gets shut down, this could be a very one sided series. However, if he's able to continue his play and pick up where he ended off in regular season, it could be a good series that could be closer than people expect. I will be happy if we can keep this series close and give Toronto a run for their money, as we aren't even supposed to be in this spot.
  14. 1) I feel like he will keep playing until he ends up breaking the total. However, only have five goals to this point is a bit concerning. 2) Well, I'm going to be going into the VHL/VHLE draft. I'll be in the VHLE, then I'll be heading to the VHL two seasons after that. 3) I don't know what I'd add, but I'd make fighting or grit actually worth it. Ask 3 1) Which team do you think is going to win the VHL cup? 2) What NHL team has been the most surprising this season, good or bad? 3) What is your favorite snack and why?
  15. Graphic Review: At first glance, I really like this graphic. First, you ended up doing a jersey swap for Jordan Binnington making the colors red green and a type of beige. On top of that, the text "Happy Holidays" is honestly my favorite part. I really like how it fits with the entire graphic overall. Next, you ended up adding what looks like reindeer ears onto of his head for a hat, which looks amazing. Last, there is a tag that says "To: the VHL" from "Lachlan Summers." It honestly adds a little bit more flare and I like it a ton. Overall, I'd rate it a 10/10 as there's not really much more you could do for a Christmas themed graphic! Happy Holidays!
  16. 1) I'm assuming this is theme week, but I'd like to hear about if people were a GM for a day, what would they do. 2) I probably would listen. I don't know how much, but I'd tune in here and there. 3) I would probably end up buying a jersey from a NHL team, but a completely random team and random player. Q1) What is your favorite NHL team? Q2) Do you have anything planned over Christmas? Q3) Do you have any pets, if so what kind? If you don't have any pets, would you want to get one?
  17. Miracle on Ice ft. Chicago Phoenix Breaking down TPA per team, an average Before we get into the absolutely crazy season that the Chicago Phoenix are having, lets first break down the TPA per team in NA, on average to see where, in theory, the team "should" finish. Again, there are a lot of other things to take into consideration besides just "TPA", like builds, lines, strategies, etc, but this is the simplest and easiest way to compare teams without me having to do too much work, yay! Below will be the teams listed in order (NA only, as we aren't focusing much on EU here), based on their average TPA for their rosters as of 12/3/2023. I will round the TPA to a whole number and also round down, as you can't have .8 of a TP. NA Conference Los Angeles Stars (6-3-2): 841 TPA Toronto Legion (6-4-2): 827 TPA D.C. Dragons (6-4-1): 787 TPA Calgary Wranglers (6-4-2): 786 TPA Seattle Bears (6-4-1): 635 TPA ------------------------------------------ Vancouver Wolves (6-2-1): 589 TPA New York Americans (7-3-1): 531 TPA Chicago Phoenix (6-4-1): 528 TPA Already looking at these statistics makes it mind boggling to currently think that the Chicago Phoenix are in third place in NA and are already clinched a playoff spot. On paper, in NA, they have the worst roster, yet somehow, they find a way to win and be towards the top of the conference. Not only are they over 200 TPA down on average to the top teams, they also have a bot goalie who is currently 2-5 on the season. Lets now take a look at the players and check at this moment, how much of a point increase they had from last season to this season alone (72 games haven't been played yet, so keep that in mind). The numbers in parenthesis are the point differential. Player point totals, last season to this season Scotty Sundin - 90P -> 101P (+11) Legacy Gaming - 37P -> 78P (+41) Michael Shotter - 15P -> 51P (+36) Reinhard Von Kongming - 17P -> 44P (+27) Sigma Freud - 20P -> 40P (+20) Dank Turtle - 10P -> 38P (+28) Brodie Landry III - 10P -> 34P (+24) Damian Steele - 36P -> 31P (-5) PJ Daniels - 41P -> 31P (-10) Tullemore Dew - 17P -> 23P (+6) At first glance, almost every single player had an increase in points, with the players that did increase, only Tullemore Dew didn't increase by double digits. This is already crazy numbers, as most of these players were depth pieces on their previous team, thrown away due to the fact they were either inactive, or didn't have the cap space to keep them. Now these misfits are having career years on a team that has already defied all odds. Only PJ Daniels and Damian Steele have regressed, however, both of these players are veterans, with PJ Daniels being a S83 and Damian Steele being a S84, so it makes sense their point totals decreased. The last thing we will look at is special teams, some team statistics, and specifically, how the hell is this team finding a way to win games? Special Teams, team statistics, and how do they win? Chicago Phoenix (32-18-14) Goals for per game on average: 2.83 (8th) Goals against per game on average: 3.02 (11th) Powerplay: 22.60% (1st) Penalty Kill: 82.85% (8th) Shots for average: 34.86 (10th) Shots against average: 38.36 (12th) Statistically, all these numbers put them around the middle of the pack, suggesting they should be basically anywhere from 8th-12th in the standings. Currently, Chicago is 7th in the overall standings, with being 3rd in the North American Conference, something that doesn't necessarily add up when you look at these. However, there is one big factor, and that is the powerplay for the Phoenix. The powerplay is their one key to success, mainly where they win most of their games. A whopping 35% of the team's overall goals are scored on the powerplay, which is crazy as most teams don't have to rely on their powerplay as much to net them wins. On top of that, this team has been to extra time in their games 29 out of the 64 games they have played, as they are very good at keeping games close and not out of control. There have been a couple games here and there where they get blown out, hence why their goal differential is in the negative, but for the majority of the games, they're able to keep games close. Conclusion At the end of the day, there are many different factors due to the fact that Chicago is a playoff team. Almost every single of their players has improved in points from last season, with most having career years this current season. The powerplay is red hot, being 1st in the entire league, while also scoring 35% of their team's goals. Ryan Artyomov is quietly having an amazing rookie season, putting up a .926 sv% and a 2.76 GAA, being a key part of Chicago's success, despite not being mentioned. On top of that, it's a simulation, not actually real. Crazy things have happened before and can happen time and time again. Should Chicago really be a playoff team? In hindsight, no. They shouldn't be. On paper, they're the worst in NA, they have a negative goal differential, and they get outshot on average every single game. However, the little team of misfits, the inactive players, the clickers, the "role" players have found a way to prove every single doubter wrong, that they actually matter. A lot of things had to go Chicago's way for this to happen, including being in a weaker conference in my opinion. Also, you cannot deny there is luck involved. I think people might find it hard to grasp "luck" as a concept, but like I said, it's a simulation. You could have a 90% chance to win, but 10% of that time, you will lose. Who knows what the chances of Chicago winning games like this were, they could be having insane luck, rolling the right outcome every single time. I'm just happy to see the team coming to life and players playing out of their minds, even if it screws my rebuild! Sidenote I also want to give a quick shoutout to @fromtheinside who is having a career year with Chicago, and now holds the all-time goal and point record for the organization. Without Scotty, this isn't possible, and he's been amazing as a player and as a person. We've had some great conversations and it's going to be painful to have you go. Thank you for your time in Chicago and we'll try our best to make you proud in the playoffs, one last run! 1000+ words
