Who said I was trying to win?

Why each VHL team will win the cup NA Conference Vancouver Wolves: Honestly, this team is stacked. They've got a great forward core in Ninefingers, Bouchard, and Martin. On top of that, their D core is led by Gavilrovs and Trueno who are two insane defenseman. In net, they've got a very good goalie in Soju. This team is probably the favorite to win NA as I feel like on paper, they've got no holes and are the best team in NA. Chicago Phoenix: The Phoenix usually always overperform, doing more with less. The way they'll win is the sum of their parts will perform better than what they are on paper. They'll also have Ryan Artyomov put up an insane season and carry them in playoffs, as STHS likes to pick one goalie to get hot. Seattle Bears: Seattle will win the cup because Bana is a mastermind GM. He finds ways to squeeze the best out of any roster and he can easily find a way to do so with this team. With Eric White Jr and Costanzov, they could be the dynamic duo Bana needs to win the cup. Calgary Wranglers: This teams offense is quite crazy, with Dassler, Tuominen, and Reingaard. The three of them will be the reason Calgary wins, as if they all play up to their level that they should, there are few teams that will be able to match this team. They'll have to outscore their problems, however. Toronto Legion: For Toronto, they're gonna need big seasons out of Machado and Callahan, with Vidarsson having a very good season as well. They've got some great firepower and a decent D core that they should be able to sneak out wins against teams. They're not bad on paper and if the team can put the pieces of the puzzle together, they'll win. New York Americans: The Americans will have to do a lot to break the curse. They'll need Richmond and Janser to have career seasons and carry the team. Rory will have to have a GOTY season if this team wants to go far. They're lacking a 3rd defenseman for the time being, so they're gonna have to stay relevant until they can acquire a 4th at the deadline. However, after that, they can compete with the top of the league. D.C. Dragons: Everyone on this team will have to overperform. They're gonna need a lot of luck to somehow squeak into the playoffs and then anything can happen. If they're gonna make it, everyone will have to essentially have a career year and their goalie will have to stand on his head. Los Angeles Stars: STHS decides this team is their favorite team and they magically win games to make the playoffs. Then in playoffs, Roger Eagles puts up like a .98 or something and they win the cup. This is the only way they can win. EU Conference Moscow Menace: The Menace are the favorite in the EU to make it out in my eyes. EU is weaker conference this season and with Ruutu, Goncalves, Woods, and Bocage, they should make it out. As long as STHS doesn't screw them, they'll be in the finals and probably win the cup. Malmo Nighthawks: Malmo is going to need Rave, Leitner, and Lovstrom to have career seasons. They've also got some solid forward depth. The franchise is cursed to always finish towards the top of the standings, but always come short and lose R1. However, they've got a new GM now so the curse could be gone! HC Davos Dynamo: On paper, this is realistically Moscow's only challenge. Bucatini, Rocco, Ironhide, Hardy, and Mina are all insanely good players and will be tough to take down. They don't have the best depth, so this team is very top heavy, but they've got some of the best players in the league. If they're going to win the cup, they need their depth to not sell and their big name players to carry. Riga Reign: Another team with only 3 defenseman, Riga will need their stars to shine brighter than anyone else. Raikkonen, Gunner, Targaryen, and Panda will have to be their bright spots. They'll also need their goalie to pick up the slack as they won't have a D man for a while. However, just like NYA, once they get a 4th defenseman they'll be in the running for the cup. Prague Phantoms: For Prague to win, they're gonna need an absolute godtier performance out of either Vencko or Redzic. They'll have to play like they are 1000 TPE instead of ~500 and that's how they'll end up winning. Otherwise, if they don't get insane goaltending, they better hope Thorvaldsson drops like 3 PPG. Helsinki Titans: Helsinki will have to make a STHS shrine to make the playoffs, let alone win the cup. You better start constructing it right now, because if you don't, you're screwed. STHS takes sacrifices too, so maybe you just sacrifice a pick or something to win it all. Sounds like a good deal! London United: Realistically, you're screwed. However, maybe you can join Helsinki and make a shrine with them? I feel like that's the best option. Warsaw Predators: Rig the sims somehow and keep simming until you guys win. It might take decades, but it will result in a win eventually!

1. I think we usually start off pretty hot then cool down as the season goes on, but I'm all for the hot start! 2. I think we have to lock in and play a full season. We need to take each game like it's our last. 3. Most likely a rebuild, but it depends on how the team does. If we're cupping, might bring the team back for one last ride. 6. I got an Xbox Series X, and NCAA. Very fun game and I haven't had enough time to play it. 7. I think the best gift I ever got was Sabres tickets to a game in Buffalo. That was a bunch of fun and we ended up beating Vegas as well. 8. I have been! I think this is Ohio State's season to lose now. They should beat Texas and I feel like they can take down either Penn State or Notre Dame. I have Notre Dame vs. Ohio State in the finals.

The Beginning of a New Chapter George Richmond and his New Team Richmond has finally started the S97 season, but this time with a different team. Spending multiple seasons with the Moscow Menace, Richmond was then traded this off-season to the New York Americans in a deal that would shock the hockey world. Richmond didn't necessarily know a trade was going to happen, but he didn't put it out of the realm of possibility. Now with his new team, the New York Americans have finally taken the ice. The Americans through 3 games are 1-2-0, but hopes are high for the team with their new found superstar in George Richmond. Richmond through 3 games currently has 3 goals and an assist, leading his team in goals while being tied for the team lead in points. "My role here in New York is very obvious, and that's to score goals. My teammates feed me the puck and pass up shots to give me golden opportunities, so I must finish them," stated George Richmond. Richmond is second on the team in shots with 25 shots through 3 games, however, he's shooting at a crazy 12% to start the season. Richmond is still finding chemistry with his new teammates, so expect the point totals to only continue to rise for the young superstar. "We didn't have much of an off-season, so I didn't develop much chemistry with my teammates. They're a great group and I believe moving forward, we've got a shot at the title without a doubt." Richmond will have to do more heavy lifting on this team unlike Moscow, as New York is fairly top heavy, however, Richmond is ready for the new challenge sent his way. Chicago's Quest for the Cup The Chicago Phoenix have started what could be their final season in the chase to the cup. The core is starting to become old and have a maximum of two seasons left, but realistically, this is their final season. The Phoenix find themselves in a tough conference, with 6 out of the 8 teams contending, and on top of that DC off to a hot start. The Phoenix find themselves 3-1-0 to start, with the only loss being that to DC. "It's a good start, but we should be undefeated. This is our final season essentially, and I want my players to give it their all." The Phoenix have a good shot to win this season, but they'll have to find ways to pick up key wins against top teams in the league. The Phoenix added Kadachi and Walker Jr this season through trades. Meanwhile, they brought up Bone-Breaker from the minors to help fill out the D core. This team is going to be the best Chicago can be, aside from a couple trade deadlines moves, but this is the last attempt to win the cup for the Phoenix. Failure to do so here would mean a rebuild and they would be empty handed for a while, as it will take a bit for them to rebuild. Regardless, they've got their eyes set on the cup and they'll have to see if they'll be able to pull out the victory in the last season.

Answers 1. I had a great Christmas overall, spent time with family. I got a new Xbox which is great! 2. Well as a Sabres fan, I think it's nothing but despair every season. However, we're finally on a two game winstreak so maybe we can turn it around. 3. I will be staying up for New Years, as I'll be with family in Boston. Usually we just hang out every New Years and drink, so I'll be looking forward to that. Questions 1. Do you have any expectations for your player this season and if so, how hard will they be to achieve? 2. How do you think your VHL/VHLM team will do this season and why? 3. Do you have any New Years Resolutions? If so what are they?

Graphic Review: Starting off, we have a nice card graphic made by Corco for Jasper Davis. First off, I like the signature part of the card. It looks extremely nice and I like the color that was chosen for it, as it's the New York Americans colors. Next, I don't mind the black and white with the logo and at the bottom of the graphic. I would probably make the "Signature Series" part of the card a little bigger so it's less blurry, but not big enough that it takes away from the graphic itself. I also like the Jasper Davis - C part at the bottom, but I might change the text. Regardless, this graphic is extremely well done and I love how it looks! Rating: 9/10

Answers 1. I usually leave it up until the end of the year. So basically after New Years. 2. Coal, because my name is Cole. 3. I think I'll have more, but it'll be interesting because I'm on a new team (NYA). Questions 1. Who do you think is going to win the Continental Cup for the upcoming season? 2. Do you have any exciting Christmas plans? 3. Which VHL team do you think had the best draft and why?

Richmond traded to the New York Americans The phone rings in Moscow Richmond a couple days ago had signed a 3 season extension, with the third season being a mutual option, leaving the contract up to the player and the manager. However, Richmond did not expect that just a couple days later, he would be heading across the world in a trade that would see him go to the New York Americans. Richmond was in bed, when his phone rang at 5:50 AM and it was the General Manager of the Moscow Menace, @Spartan . He knew this wasn't going to be good news, as there would be no reason to call him at such an early time, but Spartan had to break the news somehow. "You're going to the New York Americans," said Spartan. Richmond had no clue who was on the Americans, or anything about them, just the fact he had been traded there alongside Joseph Reed in exchange for the 2nd overall pick in S97, and Tommy Shelby. Shortly after, he received a phone call from the NYA GM, @STZ, who assured him everything was going to be fine and that the team is happy to have him. Richmond had no clue what to do now, he was an up and coming star and the face of the franchise for Moscow, but no longer was he the star player. On top of that, he was going to be leaving his closest friend since childhood, Obuz Schneider Canet du Bocage @Grape. A tough reality set in for Richmond, but he knew there was no choice, said goodbye to his teammates, his friends, and the fans. The fans felt betrayed as they thought they would be with Richmond long term, but business is business. "I'm sure to receive boos when I return. It's going to be brutal," said George Richmond on his future return to Moscow this upcoming season. Once the face of the franchise and an ally turned into the biggest traitor Moscow has ever seen, according to the fans. Heading to New York On the flip side, the New York Americans were extremely happy to have such a top tier talent entering their organization. One fan said that, "I hope he can break the curse for this franchise. I am extremely happy we finally have a player of that caliber apart of our team, not playing against us." Richmond arrived at the airport and was greeted by hundreds a fans lined up to see him take his first steps in New York. Fans were cheering and signs were everywhere congratulating Richmond on becoming apart of the team. "I've never seen a fanbase such supportive of newcomers before. In Moscow, I was for sure a big name, but this is something different," stated Richmond. Expectations are high for Richmond, as he's going to be the face of the team, helping them break their curse. Coming off of a 109 point season, he's looking to improve on that and help New York to their goal, the continental cup. Regardless, a change of pace for Richmond and it'll be an interesting story line to follow for the upcoming season.

Guess I'm heading to New York! Glad to be apart of the squad @STZ Thanks for the time in Moscow. Hopefully I broke the curse and you guys can continue winning! @Spartan

George Richmond and the Offseason George Richmond enjoys time off George Richmond has been enjoying his time off during this off-season, after signing a 2 + 1 contract for the Moscow Menace. "Contract talks were pretty easy," stated George Richmond. "There wasn't really much of a hassle, we knew I was going to re-sign, it was just for how long." Richmond is coming off of his best season yet, dropping 109 points in 72 games played, topping his career high in points, assists, and goals. Richmond was put into a bigger role this season, playing on the top line and being responsible for most of the offense. There were some questions of whether Richmond would re-sign or not, but he answered that quickly. Richmond has not yet stated what he'll be working on this off-season, instead, he has been spending time in the USA on vacation. "It's a nice change of pace. I have been working my butt off the entire season, so to just get a break is great." said Richmond. The Moscow Menace have a lot to do in the off-season though, as yet again they'll need to trade players away as they won't have the cap space. Lots of players have come up in trade talks, including Richmond, but he's brushed away the rumors saying "It will never happen. Not now." People wonder if Richmond is taking a very optimistic look, as there is still a chance he could be moved this off-season. If it were to happen though, Moscow would receive a haul in return, as Richmond is entering his prime and has yet to regress. He'll be looking to top this season's stats and be one of the best players in the league, otherwise, it will be a let down from the fans. Expectations are there for Richmond, and they should be, as he has been a very important piece for this team. Chicago Phoenix offseason The Chicago Phoenix fell in the wildcard to the Seattle Bears and not much has been said from their camp this offseason. The team obviously needs two forwards, but hasn't been very aggressive in acquiring those players, instead, they are keen on waiting to see what happens with other teams. "We're for sure trying to make deals, but we're waiting on others to pull the trigger. It's a bit of cat and mouse right now," stated the Chicago GM. The Phoenix are starting to enter the last seasons of their core and if they are going to win, they should start performing now. They need to sell the future and look to the present as a rebuild is on the horizon, but not yet. The team has a fair amount of the core returning for this next season, so they'll need to lock in if they're going to win it all. NA is not getting easier and with Vancouver having an exceptional run in the playoffs, it's going to be hard for Chicago to reach the finals, however, it can be done. Chicago has consistently been a playoff team, even reaching the conference finals, but they'll need to do better if they are to win it all. The last time Chicago won the cup was in S76, so it's been over 20 seasons since their last cup. The team is here though and all they need is a couple more additions to be a potential championship winning team.

Answers 1. Let it snow due to the fact I don't necessarily like a lot of snow. 2. I would invite @Moon and we would talk about Loki Cheese the entire time. 3. I don't really have a relative that makes the holidays interesting, but my family usually has a great time playing cards and enjoying the company. Questions 1. How did your player do this season? Do you think they should've done better or worse? 2. Do you have any pets? If so, what kind of pets do you have? 3. Where do you think the NHL is going to expand to next and why?

Review: A great graphic. I really like the coloring in the background and the overall theme of the entire graphic. The coloring fits in very well with the background. I like the cards in the background and the Vegas sign as I feel like it brings a lot to the picture. I'm not so big on the text, I would probably choose a different text and possibly put some shadowing on it, but besides that, it looks good. The jersey swap and color swap is very nice as well. Overall, a very well done graphic. Rating: 9.5/10

Chicago and Moscow both eliminated, what's next? Another unfortunate year for Chicago The Chicago Phoenix fell to the Seattle Bears in the wildcard series, losing 3-1. Chicago was unfortunately outclassed across the board, where they just weren't able to get over the hump to take them further in the playoffs. With two overtime losses, the bounces were just not going in there way and unfortunately, they fell short. Looking forward to the next season, they'll be losing Francesco Mancini and Legacy Gaming, two important depth pieces for the team. Mancini in his final season put up 72 points in 72 games played, and was a +35, playing on the first line. Legacy Gaming on the flip side had 54 points in 72 games played, with a -19 on the second line. Regardless, they're going to have to find some replacements as they'll be losing 55 goals scored between the two and they'll have to find them fast. The team's window is closing and it might be one last run with this team before their goalie retires, once that happens the team is basically done for barring a miracle. It'll be interesting to see what Chicago does next off-season, as they'll probably be selling and they'll load up on picks. Moscow falls just short The Moscow Menace coming into the season looked like favorites to win the cup and with their regular season performance, it looked more solidified. However, we all know that's know how it works, as Moscow ended up falling to Davos in the second round. An intense series which was much closer than people will see on face value, especially a goaltending masterclass by Merome Dilson who helped carried his team to the next round. As for Moscow, they were able to take out Malmo, but fell short of getting another ring and the team most likely is going to be split up. On the out is most likely Catia Goncalves, or Jarmo Ruutu, as they're the oldest parts of the roster (aside from David Rashford and Joseph Reed). A mix of these players will most likely be shipped and it's looking like George Richmond will finally be the top center and have to carry a lot of the heavy load. Richmond had a great regular season, finally eclipsing the 100 point mark, with 43 goals and 66 assists in 72 games played. In the playoffs, Richmond put up 13 points in 10 games played and led all of Moscow in points in the playoffs. He'll have to step up against next season with the departures of these players said above, but ultimately, he should be able to start carrying most of the load for Moscow. Richmond's contract is now up and people are wondering if he's going to stay with Moscow, but he has expressed interest in staying with the team. There is a very small chance he gets moved, but I wouldn't count on it as it wouldn't make much sense for Moscow unless the value is huge. Richmond hasn't publicly stated what his plans long term are, but he wants to stay with Moscow for a while. It'll be interesting to see if he ends up going somewhere else in his career, or if he decides to stay with Moscow until retirement.

Answers 1) Yes. I think Moscow played very good, but they got goalied. Davos might win the cup. 2) Probably Game 5 in the Stanley Cup Finals between the Rangers and Kings. It was a crazy goal and I still remember it to this day. 3) Any type of meat. Steak, Burgers, etc. Questions 1) What is a family tradition that you have and why? 2) How did your player do this season? Did they do better or worse than you expected? 3) How is your favorite NHL team doing? Do you think they are in the right spot currently?

2. I think we'll be somewhat the same. Still another season of competing until we fully rebuild. 4. Stanford's mascot which is a literal tree. 5. It'll be huge, I hope a bunch of people come back and make the league active. Maybe the E will come back? 6. If we're talking bizarre like someone I know collecting things, I guess soda can tops. I don't know why they do it but who knows. 7. Unique? No clue. I guess I can type 140 WPM pretty consistently. 8. The team culture. I feel like we've got one of the most chill teams in the league.

1. I think we need to be able to have better starts. Sometimes we immediately fall behind and it's almost impossible to get out of a hole like that. 2. Probably NYA. Their mascot is an American, so I feel like I might have a fair shot? 3. Yes. They've had an exceptional season and hopefully they can take home the trophy! 4. Bow and Arrow cele. I've used it a couple times. 6. I guess for the Sabres probably making it to the finals? If it was for myself personally, winning the championship in high school hockey. 8. I would go to the beach. I just want to relax in the sun!
