  2. Article Review: There are two things I like in a article that to me make them outstanding as oppose to just good. 1) It has to use some statistical analysis to come up with their argument and 2) it has to drive response activity. This media spot did both. This is a great analysis of the 9 season player situation, and although it was done to make a personal choice it allows other to look at concrete information about the topic. Second, the fact that I am writing this review on page 2 after a number of long, responses only solidifies that this article touched something in others. Great article, great analysis. I give this article a 11/10, yes it got bonus points. You can deal with it.
  3. Article Review: I always enjoy the articles that you know started only for the purpose of earning TPE and then somewhere along the way the writer got passionate about the topic and a basic media spot turns into a multiweek claim. Simply put this article is a fun take on the All star topic, is well written and well organized. The Author did enough research to get to know the players instead of just brushing enough surface detail to get by. Well done. I give this article a 10/10
  4. Theme Week for season 2 is about All-Stars and I can think of no better way to evaluate all stars than to do a comparison of a season's draft and who were the expected all-stars against how they ended. As season 84 will be retiring this year and it also happens to be the season my player, Molly the Cat was drafted it only seems natural to look at that season's draft class. Let’s start by looking at the Draft Class of Season 84, we will focus on the first round as those should be considered the top all-star Prospects. You can see the draft list on this link. Note I tried to copy it but it caused a file size error. S84 VHL Entry Draft (vhlportal.com) The first thing to note about this draft class is that they are back end heavy, in fact the first overall pick is a goalie and 7 of the top 10 picks are either Defenders or Goalies with only Napolean Dynamite (pick 2), Dogwoodmaple (pick 7 and Tyler Busser (pick 9) being forwards, and to note all of them were Centers. The first winger wasn’t chosen until pick 12 when Molly the Cat was chosen by London. Based on the Draft if you were going to put together a first line All-star team it would look as follows: Goalie: Art Vandelay Defense: Callum Murray and Cobalt Burns Forwards: Napoleon Dynamite, Dogwoodmaple and Tyler Busser I must note that Goalie Clueless Wallob, and Defense, Pierre Emile Bouchard, and Scoish Velociraptor Maloish would have been in conversations for their respective positions. Now let us jump to season 92 where all these players are within games of completing their careers. Much has happened in the lives of these players and as expected the outcome is not what the draft predicted. There were some spot-on picks, and there were some duds, and there were some huge draft steals. If we were to look at putting together an all-star season 84 team now, looking back over all the seasons there would be some definite changes in the line-up. Players being placed in the various positions will be evaluated on 3 criteria, first will be TPA achieved, second will be TPE achieved and lastly performance. Goalie: The discussion for Goalie comes down to the same 2 candidates as at the draft and the reality is that an argument could be made for either candidate. Art Vandelay (TPA 905, TPE 1810, performance 295 wins, career .925 SV%, 2.5 GAA with 2 personal awards) Clueless Wallob (TPA 915, TPE 1475, performance 261 wins, career .926 SV%, 2.69 GAA, 2 Victory Cups and 2 personal Awards) Art Vandelay has better TPE and regular season career stats, Clueless Wallob has better TPA and more personal achievements. Defense: The choices for defense on the season 84 all-star team based on career information are significantly clearer than the choice for Goalie. There are only 3 candidates: Pierre Emie Bouchard (TPA 1084, TPE 1939, performance, 145 goals, 490 assists, 635 points) Velociraptor Greg (TPA 985, TPE 1506, performance, 1020 goals, 323 assists, 425 points) Scoish Velociraptor Maloish (TPA 732, TPE 1492, Performance, 117goals, 382 assists, 499 points) A couple points of interest, first Velociraptor Greg was not even drafted in the first round and is now in contention for one of the 2 defense spots. None of these players were the first 2 defenders chosen in the draft. Forwards: The forward category is remarkably similar to the defense where there are a limited number of options based on career statistics. Molly the Cat (TPA 1337, TPE 1904, performance, Goals 291, Assists 295, points 586) AK92 Wit da Hoodie (TPA 1229, TPE 1755, performance, goals 198, assists 352, points 550)* we must make a note that this player started their career as a defender and switched positions mid-career Napolean Dynamite (TPA 1004, TPE 1745, performance, goals 241, assists 308, points 549) Dogwood Maple (TPA 964, TPE 1517, performance, goals 236, Assists 337, Points 573) So in conclusion I would choose the following as he Season 84 All-Star team, although I can see the rationale behind some different choices. Goalie: Art Vandelay Defense: Pierre Emile Bouchard and Scoish Velociraptor Maloish Forwards: Molly the Cat, Napolean Dynamite and Dogwood Maple
  5. As this is theme week, I am going to divert my normal media spot reporting to my VHL article obviously in a shortened fashion as I am not going to write 1000 words for 2 TPE. As of last reporting the London United had just finished game 35 of their schedule, so basically halfway through the season and Molly the Cat had 16 goals and 25 assists for 45 points on the season. That left Molly the Cat 3 goals shy of tying The Terrible Trivium for all-time leader in goals for the London United and 45 points shy of tying The Terrible Trivium for all-time points leader for the London United. London has now completed game 47 of their schedule and Molly the Cat has 20 goals and 35 assists for 55 points on the season. With this article we will acknowledge that Moly the Cat has tied and surpassed The Terrible Trivium as the highest goal scoring London United Player. We also note that Molly the Cat currently has 586 career points and is now 33 points shy of that record as well. With 25 games remaining there is still a possibility that Molly the Cat achieves that record as well. We will need to see how the remainder of the season goes. Well, you heard it here first, London United has a new all-time goal scoring record and with still games to play we may see that record pushed further. The countdown will continue to see if Molly the Cat can match and exceed the all-time points record as well. We will continue to monitor this closely.
  6. Okay so since this is theme week we will be doing a theme week related press conference 1) If we did a all star game tournament where each team was chosen based on draft year, which draft class between season 75 and 85 would win, why? 2) Do you think you would make your draft class all start team, why, why not? 3) If you had to draft a VHLM all star team, who would be your first puck, why? 4) On an all star team which position is most important? Why? 5) Should the VHL reinstate the all star game, why, why not? 6) For season 100 celebrations should we do a decades team, all star tournament (season 1-10 has a team, season 11-20, etc) why or why not
  7. @Beketov question for you. If someone was to win either a Tier 1 or Tier 2 prize (Additional TPE) and knows they will be recreating which should happen in about 1 weeks time, can the person keep the winnings and apply to their new rookie player or does it have to be applied to the current retiring player.
  8. As noted in my preseason media spot the focus of my writing this season will be a tracking on Molly the Cat’s goal of becoming the greatest point getter and goal scorer in London United History. At the beginning of the season the London United Historical player statistics looked as follows: The Terrible Trivium had 290 goals and 329 assists to have 619 career points. That Dude had 225 goals and 331 assists to have 556 career points. Molly the Cat had 271 goals and 260 assists to have 531 career points. This leaves Molly the Cat needing 19 goals and 88 points to be tied for most franchise goals and most franchise points. With 72 games left in Molly the Cat’s career they are focused on reaching and exceeding these milestones. The last article in this series we accounted for the first 22 games of the London United Season which saw Molly the Cat accumulate 9 goals and 15 assists. In this article we will look at games 23 through 35 and see how Molly the Cat is doing: Game 23: London 5, Moscow 1 In this game Molly the Cat was able to pick up a secondary assist on a Wann Kerr goal. During the game Molly the Cat had 4 shots, took 4 minutes in penalties, and 1 assist, with 28:24 time on ice. Game 24: London 2, Moscow 3 Molly the Cat put up 7 shots on net, had 1 assist, in 31:30 on ice. It was a tough game for the team, losing it by one goal. Game 25: London 3, Wasaw 2 This was a close well fought game by both teams, with London edging this one by 1 goal. With 28:48 minutes on ice Molly the Cat took 6 shots and had 2 assists. Game 26: London 5, Calgary 4 Another 1 goal game by London saw several players score, however Molly the Cat was not among them. Both teams played an offensive game that led to some great goals for the fans. Molly the Cat had 6 shots, put up 1 assist on 30:54 minutes on ice Game 27: London 4, Las Angeles 1 Jesse Teno put up a great outing in the game holding the opposition to only 1 goal. Molly the Cat had 11 shots, 2 assists and played 30:23 minutes. Game 28: London 3, Moscow 1 Molly the Cat continues to struggle in putting shots behind opposing goalies but put up another assist. Molly the Cat in this game had 7 shots and played 29:33 minutes putting up an empty net goal to break the goalless streak. Game 29: London 6, HC Davos 2 London United rallied to put up 6 goals in this game triggered by a 5 goal first period. Molly the Cat had 4 shots in 30:29 minutes and was able to pull out 2 assists. Game 30: London 6, Toronto 2 London played another strong game putting up 6 goals for the second game in a row. Molly the Cat had 5 shots and 2 assists in 29:08 minutes on ice. Game 31: London 1: DC 2 This tight game saw London take a first period lead to then give it up in the second. Both goalies played a strong game. Molly the Cat had 4 shots in 27:31 minutes on ice. Game 32: London 4, Riga 5 Another 1 goal game that this time was determined in overtime. Molly the Cat had 6 shots in 32:33 minutes on the ice. Game 33: London 4 Malmo 5 Even though London United lost, Molly the Cat had a breakout game scoring a hat trick on 10 shots in 28:28 minutes on the ice. Game 34: London 4 Seattle 1 London played a strong game against Seattle at all ends of the ice. Molly the Cat put up 10 shots on 28:06 minutes on ice, scoring 2 and assisting on 1. Game 35: London 6 Seattle 7 This wild scoring affair had both teams having over 40 shots with the eventual winner going in as part of a shoot out. Molly the Cat had 6 shots in 32:07 minutes on the ice. Molly in that time scored 1 goal and 2 assists. The multigame goalless streak did not help Molly the Cat on their quest to get the position as London’s top goal scorer and point leader. In summary Molly the Cat after 35 games has 16 goals, 29 assists and 45 points. This brings Molly the Cat to needing 3 goals and 43 points to reach the target milestones. With 37 games remaining this is a very realistic goal. We will continue to monitor the success or failure of Molly the Cat as the season progresses.
  9. Do any of you hear the countdown. There is a constant ticking that I hear, with every sim, with every day, with every point task the countdown to the end of a career goes on. Molly the Cat will be retiring at the end of this season, after playing an entire VHL career with the London United. We will continue to watch as the season progresses to see if Molly the Cat can join the elite of London United History. Currently on a trajectory to become London’s highest goal scorer and point producer in regular season and playoffs. Molly the Cat can only suggest they are happy with the career that they put together. Looking back Molly the Cat is grateful for the leadership and comradery that has developed in London over the seasons that Molly the Cat has been around. To be able to play with talented individuals for years, players who have had excellent careers and who will contend for a position in the VHL Hockey Hall of Fame. Molly the Cat is also grateful for the fans of the London United who have supported Molly the Cat and the London United Team year after year, who were there at the depths of London’s lows and celebrated with London at the pinnacle of success. The fans are what make this game what it is. Molly the Cat has still to decide what comes next, there are several options within and outside this amazing game. No matter what Molly the Cat will always be grateful for their time in London and in the VHL.
  10. Article Review: I will start off by saying I have no clue who this person is, and the long description of everything that you once did, although impressive, is irrelevant to the here and now. That being said welcome here. This is not the place you left, and I hope you don't expect it will be. There are a lot of really interesting people here and I hope you get the chance to build some more connections that you will stay long term friends with. I always find the interconnections between people, especially those that meet in real life to be interesting. Random connections would be cool but I expect that most are planned in some way. Welcome back, your article was well written, so I will give it a 9/10. Keep writing, I am finding I have less and less things to do reviews of.
  11. Article Review: Articles of this nature generally get a lot of attention from the Commissioners and players who have experienced both sides of the build structure. So if I separate the content, from the article mechanics themselves I would have to suggest that this is a reasonably well written article. The author uses a catchy title that is relevant to their topic, expresses their idea, provides an argument to support their opinion and then concluded their article. Whether I agree or not, whether those who made the change in the league agree or not doesn't change the fact this author wrote a solid media spot. I give it a 9/10. Keep writing.
  12. Welcome to next press conference. Every now and again I go a little rogue with these and come up with some theme. Sometime it makes things funny, sometimes it is painful. (I promise no literary requirements). So this week I thought I would pick the topic of AI use in point tasks. 1) What is your opinion on the use of AI in generating written point tasks (media Spots, articles)? 2) What is your opinion on the use of AI in generating graphic point tasks? 3) In your opinion is there a level of AI use that is acceptable? 4) The punishments that have been handed out so far to people caught using AI, were they fair, too soft, too harsh? 5) Have you ever used AI tools, (Inside of VHL or outside), tell us about your experience with the tools? 6) Do you think AI will evolve to the point that people will no longer be involved in areas like book writing, journalism, creating paintings. Discuss your opinion?
  13. This leaves Molly the Cat needing 19 goals and 88 points to be tied for most franchise goals and most franchise points. With 72 games left in Molly the Cat’s career they are focused on reaching and exceeding these milestones. The Last article in this series we accounted for the first 7 games of the London United Season which saw Molly the Cat accumulate 5 goals and 12 assists. In this article we will look at games 8 through 22 and see how Molly the Cat is doing: Game 8: London 3, Malmo 2 Molly the Cat played a slightly more physical game taking 4 minutes in penalties. However, Molly the Cat was able to pick up a secondary assist on Wann Kerr’s Power Play goal at 3:58 of the first period. During the game Molly the Cat had 4 shots, took 4 minutes in penalties, and 1 assist, with 30:12 time on ice. Game 9: London 5, Riga 2 Molly the Cat continued their offensive push in this game with 11 shots on net, putting up 1 goal and 2 assists, going plus 2 in 30:51 on ice. Although Molly the Cat had a great game, linemate Leonard Triller put up a Hat trick along with an assist for a 4-point night. Game 10: London 1, Wasaw 3 This was a close well fought game by both teams, up to the 3rd period where Warsaw netted 3 power play goals. With 30:16 minutes on ice Molly the Cat took 7 shots and scored the team’s only goal. Game 11: London 4, HC Davos 5 This was a back-and-forth affair, unfortunately time ran out before London could score again and push this to overtime. Both teams played an offensive game that led to some great goals for the fans. Molly the Cat had 6 shots, put up 2 assists on 29:34 minutes on ice Game 12: London 2, Warsaw 3, Shoot out This was a tight, goalie driven game by both sides which Warsaw took in Shoot out. Molly the Cat had 4 shots, 1 assist and played 30:54 minutes. Game 13: London 3, New York 4 Molly the Cat took the game’s first star in this losing affair after netting 2 goals on 9 shots and playing 29:36 minutes. Not the outcome the team was looking for but still helpful in Molly the Cat’s quest for London supremacy. Game 14: London 5, HC Davos 3 After the disappointment of the prior game, the London United rallied, led by their second line and took this game for their fans. Molly the Cat had 6 shots in 29:24 minutes of play but didn’t hit the scoreboard. Game 15: London 3, New York 2 London played another structured game and was able to pull out the win. Molly the Cat had 5 shots, 1 assist in 29:04 minutes on ice. For those keeping track to this point in the summary that is 4 additional goals and 7 assists bringing Molly the Cat’s total to 9 goals and 14 assists in the first 15 games. Now for those of you who read my Article this week you already know how the next 7 games go. I am going to shorten things down because there is really no point in discussing the next 7 games in depth. Simply noted in Game 17 against Chicago Molly the Cat gets one more assist. Outside of that Game 16 against Calgary, game 18 against Helsinki, game 19 against Toronto, Game 20 against New York, Game 21 against Chicago, and Game 22 against Toronto all end the same way, Molly the Cat shot the puck, got no points, and played between 29 and 31 minutes of the game. So, in the first 22 games of the season Molly the Cat had 9 goals, 15 assists and 24 points. This brings Molly the Cat to needing 10 goals and 64 points to reach the target milestones. We will continue to monitor the success or failure of Molly the Cat as the season progresses.
  14. I did an article series at one point, not too long ago, titled Simon WTF. It looked at things that went on during simulations that didn’t quite make sense. I am going to bring back that series for one more edition. Currently Molly the Cat has played 22 games and has 24 points, 9 goals and 15 assists. What would be considered a good start by many players. The issue I have is that Molly the Cat scored all but one of those points within the first 15. You read that correctly, Molly the Cat had 9 goals and 14 assists in the first 15 games and then has gone 0 goals and 1 assist in the next 7 games. To emphasize just how odd this is I want to note that Molly the Cat has had no line changes during that time. And no major game implications. Game 130 against Calgary, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 4 shots and played 32:25. Game 142 against Chicago, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 11 shots and played 30:18, recording 1 assist Game 146 against Helsinki, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 7 shots and played 32:33 Game 154 against Toronto, Molly the Cat had 2PM, 5 shots and played 28:49 Game 161 against New York, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 7 shots and played 30:22 Game 173 against Chicago, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 7 shots and played 30:48 Game 178 against Toronto, Molly the Cat had 0PM, 6 shots and played 29:41 So, I am calling Simon out, WTF Simon, without any change in play, time on ice, shooting, Penalty minutes, How, does an elite level player change so drastically. Simon what voodoo are you using to SIM these games. Simon WTF.
  15. Article Review: Like the author I sometimes wonder why someone uses AI, it seems that more and more people are being caught. AI currently, or at least those versions easily available on the internet are good but still have a number of flaws that result in them being easily identified. I just don't expect that AI generation of articles will be indistinguishable from human created content for a while. Now from a graphic perspective the use of AI to create a base image doesn't bother me as long as sufficient work is being done to personalize afterwards. I don't think we will ever get rid of AI use, there will always be someone wanting to take the easy way out but honestly, with the fact that any random writing is accepted just write your own articles. I give this article a 10/10, get dive into the AI conversation
  16. Article Review: The random articles that cover a broad range of topic, solely completed for the purpose of gaining TPE sometimes are the most interesting to read. You get a chance to grasp the various aspects of the writers mind or at least their thought patterns. This article is no exception. Ranging though a variety of thoughts from rookie of the year to a player they drafted to hopes for their own player. Obviously we get no in depth conclusion on the state of the VHL but we do get to see the writer and how they think. I give this a 9/10, keep creating content.
  17. It is time for our next press conference. Hope everyone is enjoying the easy TPE. Remember when answering to use sentence structure. 1) How are you feeling about our the season so far? 2) Why do you think we are finding it hard to score goals? (At the point of writing this we are second lowest in the league) 3) Why do you think we have so few goals against us? (At the point of writing this we are tied for the least amount of goals against) 4) Isamu Knieval is currently sitting with 195 career points, do they reach 200 before the next press conference release (so in about 14 games), why? 5) What do you expect our average goals per game to be by season end, why? (Currently we are at 2.43 goals per game) 6) Will Teno end the season below 2 GAA, why? (Currently Teno sits at 1.85GAA)
  18. At the time of this article being written London United have just finished their 7th game of the season. Game 1: London 3, Warsaw 4 in shoot out Molly the Cat started strong in this game, with a strong focus on the offensive side of the game. During the game Molly the Cat had 8 shots, took 2 minutes in penalties, and had 1 goal and 1 assist, with 32:11 time on ice. Game 2: London 3, HC Davos 0 Molly the Cat continued their offensive push in this game with 14 shots on net, putting up 2 goals and 1 assist, going plus 3 in 30:55 on ice. Although Molly the Cat had a great game, Goalie Jesse Teno took the first star on their first shutout of the year. Game 3: London 2, Helsinki 1 This was a close well fought game by both teams. With 29:30 minutes on ice Molly the Cat took 4 shots and had 1 assist. Game 4: London 3, Moscow 4 Although London took 51 shots in this game, they could not pull out the win. Molly the Cat played 30:01 minutes, took 4 shots and put up 3 assists. Even though Molly the Cat’s shots have been down they have been able to find ways to get on the scoreboard. Game 5: London 4, Prague 1 London played a strong game on both sides of the ice in this one, shelling Prague with 40 shots while only letting up 19. Personally, Molly the Cat had 9 shots in 29:58 on ice. In this they put up 2 goals and 1 assist. Game 6: London 1, Helsinki 2 Jesse Teno had a busy night and did a fantastic job in keeping London in this game. Unfortunately, the goals just didn’t come. Molly the Cat played 28:19 minutes and took 8 shots. Unfortunately, Molly the Cat didn’t hit the scoreboard for the first time this season. Game 7: London 1, Malmo 2 in Overtime This was another tightly played game and was dominated by strong play by both goalies. Molly the Cat played 31:16 minutes and had 9 shots, unfortunately for a second straight game Molly the Cat was kept off the score sheet. So, in the first 7 games of the season Molly the Cat had 5 goals, 7 assists and 12 points. This brings Molly the Cat to needing 12 goals and 76 points to reach the target milestones. We will continue to monitor the success or failure of Molly the Cat as the season progresses.
  19. Article review: It is fun catching up with retired players, players who held such respect in the league that their name is still uttered. It will be awhile before the likes Landon Wolanin will be forgotten but one day they will be just an entry in the history books. Rest relax and enjoy your time off. Study the league, understand the changes and maybe one day you can be a player trainer for the new upcoming stars. You will have much to teach them on being ready for the VHL. Enjoy your old video games and prepare for the future. I give this article a 9/10
  20. I just started the fourth book of the Wheel of Time series. I read the first couple books years ago when they originally came out and never finished the series. Thought I would go back and read them. In 2023 I read the prequel and the first 3. Hopefully I will get a chance to o through most of the remainder in 2024.
  21. Article Review: I love this article. It is fun, yet sincere. The use of random real life examples of historical norms that many believe should never be questioned provides a great backdrop to the questioning of a goalie as captain. Adding a little toilet humor (urinal) into the mix drags this media spot tote lowest levels making it awesome in doing it. Great job, great article. Keep up the great work. I was just scrolling through social media and thought I saw an Ash Sparks for US President post. Today captain, tomorrow POTUS.
  22. As I sit writing this article the rain falls relentlessly outside my small basement window. That comment is irrelevant to what I would like to discuss but I thought I would set the mood and practice some of my descriptive writing ability. For the most part I am clueless to the goings on in the league. Yet I have heard it said that a VHL advertisement was released sometime recently (on one or another social media platform that isn’t Facebook) and that we have had an influx of people join. I guess on the surface that is a good thing. More people should mean more fun. I briefly ponder what it is like to be a new person in the league without a natural connection. Being referred to the league by my son, I always had a natural place to reach out to when i had questions. That allowed for my learning curve to be shorter, or so i expect. I wonder what these people think, how they get connected, how they even come to terms with this thing called the VHL. Time will tell how many of our new players stick around, how many just leave. If you are reading this and are one of the new people, welcome here. Enjoy yourself and have fun.
  23. We are going to do a predictive Press Conference 1) Which player is going to score the teams first goa this season, provide reason? 2) How many bot goals will we have this season, Why? 3) What will be our backup goalies stats in their expected 7 games, why? 4) Does London make the playoffs in season 92, why? 5) Which new player to the team scores the first goal, why? 6) On a scale of 1-10 how good of a GM will Jacob be this year, why?
