I didn't realize this was the case. I was kind of absent during the off-season/busy with other shit, but I think if you would have just said you wanted to play in WC you could have. If nothing else you could have unretired, haha. I was personally thinking as well that Victor was expecting Clegane to be in one last WC, but he kind of peaced and possibly didn't notice, and it did give Wolf a small taste of the action which was good I suppose. But maybe he wouldn't have shat the bed in the last stretch of the tournament and Europe would have medaled.

I also shit the bed. Oh well. I'll see Europe again never! I'm going back to regular scheduled "always Canadian" programming.

YEAH has the right of it here. There's nothing stopping older retiring players from not retiring before WC. If they value the TD head start on their new players more than an additional WC appearance so be it. Or if they're like Victor and I and want both, and also a brief vacation (this was pre-Player 2), they could just get auto-retired and wait until the NEXT trade deadline.

I did not actually know that place existed until just now! I understand why because of its location, but still, I should check it out some time! And no, we just played at buddy's house. I have a buddy who Skypes in so we probably couldn't play this campaign at a bar. And not that you asked, but the game was more fun and straightforward than I thought it would be! I thought too that maybe my other two friends wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, but we all had a great time. We just love killing things. At one point we were questioning a hostage, and after we were done with him we decided to kill him. Our DM told us we wouldn't have to roll just to slit his throat or whatever, but our Skype friend (who's playing a barbarian) asked if he could rip off his head with his bare hands instead. The DM made him do a really tough strength check, and he rolled a 19. It was fucking hilarious.
