I don't remember the last time I did a Fan 590. It's definitely been a significant while though. When I had two players, I could generally reach the weekly 9 TPE cap by doing two podcasts for 6 points each, and then splitting my simming pay to fill them both out to 9. Oftentimes I won't do a PT in a week, and I'm becoming more and more okay with that I'm now realizing. This week, however, I didn't do any simming. And considering I don't usually do administrative off-season things anymore, I don't claim simming pay. So I did a podcast today (CHECK IT OUT! OR DON'T, IT'S FINE!), and I claimed VHLM GM pay. So I'd still need 2 TPE to reach the weekly 9, but I can't do another podcast anymore, so I figured I'd do one of these. Which is cool, because I almost miss it in a way. In other news, Motherfucker Sharpe is officially as good as the VHLM will allow him. Meaning the rest of the season I'll have to bank all my points, and when next season rolls around, I'll be unloading all of them into Checking and Fighting. Forever and ever. I may yet put 4 points into Passing to bring it to a nice round 80, but other than that, Calgary will have drafted a pretty awful player with their 1st round draft pick. All the same, I'm quite excited to be back with the Wranglers. They were my first ever team, and we had a lot of success, so I have a strong emotional attachment to them. This is the first time I've had a player in Calgary since Jardy Bunclewirth retired. Well, to get technical, since CAL G was in the VHLM. But still, we're talking around S24. More than half the league's lifetime has gone by since then. I think my new policy with my players will be this: I will never leave the Wranglers via free agency. If my player gets there, he/she will stay there until the GM gets sick of my shit. We're going to make Calgary great again.

I was just in the middle of making this thread as well, haha. Good thing I saw your notification! @Scooter The Ottawa Lynx offer Hudson Abbott $2,000,000 for his services this season. You're making a great first impression just in the first few hours of being here, and I'm confident you'll be a great player. What's more, the Lynx is currently one of the "big three" competitive teams this season. We currently have one of the best goaltenders in the league in Jacob, as well as a promising alternate starter whom I'm excited to develop. Our team has a some very solid offensive depth, having two returning high TPE forwards, one of the best forwards from the draft, and some great developing talent as well. What we may be lacking, however, is a bonafide #1-2 defenceman, and I think you could fit that role perfectly. Currently we have a decent veteran defenceman in Tomas Syndergaard (who may or may not get poached to the VHL) and a promising young guy in JourneyMan, who comes from a very solid member. As such, I would have you playing on the first line with one of those two guys, as well as the top PP and PK units as well. We've got a solid locker room with a good mix of newer and veteran members. You would make a great addition.

Defencemen would be good, and we seem to have a lot of goalies, but whatever you'll have to most fun with. You would indeed be S54 if you created meow, and you would indeed be waiting about a month before the trade deadline. The last trade deadline was also about a month ago, so as a VHLMer you "missed out" on a maximum of 40 TPE (that you control getting, anyway). Creating at the deadline is indeed the most TPE efficient time to create, but honestly I wouldn't really sweat the difference in the big picture, especially if you actually plan on maxing out every week. I wouldn't want you to forget about us in the meantime! But it's up to you, I guess we could get Banack to email everyone again at the deadline. Also, do you happen to be djscooter from the original Invisionfree site?

It's good to see you back then! I don't know how much you learned about hockey in that time, but honestly you don't really need to know much. We've had a fair number of prominent members over the years who literally knew nothing about hockey (such as @YEAH!stlemania I believe, who is now a GM, and I'm still not so sure he knows what sport we simulate here), but they still enjoyed themselves. For me, this site was a bit overwhelming to grasp when I first joined, as the Rule Book is pretty damn long. But once you get the hang of it it's actually quite simple. If you want to get started, just create a thread HERE, copying and pasting one of the template pinned in that section, depending on if you want to create a skater or a goalie. It seems like we have a lot of goalies these days, but create whatever you think you can have the most fun with/be most creative with. And if I'm not mistaken, there is a grace period where you can switch to whatever position you want if you don't like what you've chosen during/after your first season, so you don't have to worry about choosing wrong and having to start over. Don't hesitate to ask any questions, we're glad to help.

I don't know about it really being lopsided, but I'd argue the worst trade the Oilers ever made was when they first traded Ryan Smyth. They were a pretty good team, maybe middling, but I think it was such a blow to the morale and stability of the team. They went on something like a 17 game losing streak after the trade, haven't come close to making playoffs since, with the franchise only JUST recovering now. Sure, a lot of the losing had to do with no longer having Chris Pronger (which was also a terrible deal, but I guess it eventually got Eberle and Pronger eventually died, so we'll call it square), but it all started with losing Smyth. Not that he did much either after that either, but still.
