  1. For week ending 4/7/24 Answer 6, get 2 TPE. Answer 3, get 1 TPE 1. We're currently 3rd in the conference and 5th in the league. How are you feeling about our performance so far? 2. Wann Kerr is all over the VHL Leaders leaderboard top 10s. How do you think he does it? 3. Given our recent performance, whose sacrifice do you think Simon accepted? And what was it? 4. Do you agree with the assessments that London relies heavily on Teno to make it into the playoffs? 5. Have you been able to recruit any friends to join the VHL? 6. If you could (or do) play hockey in real life, what position would you (do you) play?

  5. I once again find myself in the middle of tax season grasping for these moments when I have some time to sit down and write for the VHL. As I wrote in my article yesterday, nothing comes to mind anymore besides updating Jesse’s weekly stats and how I feel about their performance. And there are only so many ways I can do it without becoming repetitive. I think that’s also a downside of being a goalie. Only so much comes down to your performance when we all know that forwards and defensemen are just as equally the reason for a win or loss. Sure, sometimes it comes down to someone pulling off a hat trick or a goalie managing a shutout or OT/shutout win, but for the majority, we all know the stats are the runner of the numbers. All that to say that it’s hard to build a story week after week when the player is approaching the end of their career. How many times can I type that Jesse is surprised by a win or disappointed in a loss? I feel like Fs and Ds sometimes have a bit of an easier time since they can talk more specifics like goals, fights, ice time, etc.. With Jesse being the starter for all but one season, I can’t even fabricate drama with a backup goalie coming in and taking their spot. Sometimes I wish it was easier to write a good story for Jesse. And while I am going to miss them when they retire and move on, I’m really excited to start all over again. The idea of being able to build a character from the ground up. Their personality, their family, their story. It’s all fresh and new and I can try different approaches. Maybe the next one will be a cocky asshole who becomes a heel within the VHL. Or maybe I’ll stick with the really like personality that seems to make Jesse really likeable amongst most members. Or, perhaps, my next player will land in the middle. Maybe they’ll be kind and caring to friends and teammates but a real thorn in the side of anyone who gets in their way. Who knows. From writing in general in the past, I know that characters take on a mind of their own the more you write them so I suppose I’ll have to see where the next one takes me when I write up their bio. So while on the subject, I’m trying to decide if I want to go goalie again or make a defensemen. I was talking with Kirby yesterday who agreed that it almost seems too hard of a pivot to go from goalie to forward when it’s your first recreate. The transition just seems too severe. Maybe my third player I’ll feel different but for now, I’ll stick to the defensive side of the ice. I’ve decided that I’ll wait and see if there is a drought for either when the TDL comes and I’ll probably make my decision off of that. Yes, I know I just complained that being a goalie makes me feel limited in what I have to talk about but at the same time, I kind of love the position. There’s something that feels good about being that last line of defense for a team. It’s also easier to be competitive since there are so many less of us. I don’t know. I suppose I’ll see what happens and go from there. As for the name and render? Well, you’ll just have to wait and see. I’m keeping that close to my chest and I’m hoping it’s going to be a great surprise for everyone. I’m sad to see Jesse go soon, but I’m excited to recreate. 629 words for week ending 3/31/2024
  6. Oh, I'm holding that close to my chest
  7. I’m honestly struggling to write anything of note lately. Between tax season taking up 90% of my time and energy 7 days a week and Jesse’s career coming to an end in just a few weeks, it’s hard to figure out when and what to write. I barely find the time to sit down and do a simple article like this and then when I finally do, I’m drawing a blank. I’ve been recapping Jesse’s weeks for almost 2 years now and I almost wish I had done it less. It seems like a formula I am growing tired of following week after week. Win loss record, shutouts, save percentage, goals against average, and where they sit on the leaderboards. So I’ll end the article with my own stats for now: currently 24th all-time TPE earner and probably going to end Jesse’s career around the high teens, 7 days won and 520 posts. I guess we’ll see what I can do in the next 6 weeks. 166 words for week ending 3/31/2024

  9. For week ending 3/31 Answer 6, get 2 TPE. Answer 3, get 1 TPE 1. We're a solid week into the season. How are you feeling about your performance so far? 2. What abilities are you going to be focusing on this season? 3. Do you plan to max earn this season? Why or why not? 4. If you could start your current player over from the beginning knowing what you do now, what would you do differently? 5. Who is someone in the league you haven't interacted with but would like to? 6. If Peter Piper picked a pack of pickled peppers and Susie sold seashells by the seashore, how long until they meet up at a farmers market?
  10. So as we all know ( and as @samx is gleefully anticipating), this is Jesse Teno's last season and I have been asked the question whether I will be recreating at TDL or at the end of the season. And so I pose to you, members of the VHL, the question of what you think the pros and cons are of both. I still don't fully understand how it works other than I have max carryover of TPE. So tell me; what do you see as the benefits and pit falls of the recreate options?
  11. It’s the first week of the last season of Jesse Teno’s career and it’s not been too bad. While the goals against average (2.53) could be better, they have been pretty on point so far. Out of 3 games played, Teno is 2-0-1 with a 0.909 save percentage. It’s a pretty good start for Teno who is looking to try and make a real impact this season. One big change is that Teno will finally get a real break as London has been able to bring in fellow veteran goalie Geoff Bezos and the backup. Bezos comes off a decent season with DC with a 30-26-8 record. Hopefully this tandem of goalies will be able to bring London back to the finals. Fans are going to miss GOAT Bot but we don’t imagine it will take long for them to appreciate Bezos as the season progresses. It’s the beginning of the end, folks. Let’s hope Teno makes it a good one. 161 words for week ending 3/24/2024
  12. For week ending 3/24 Answer 6, get 2 TPE. Answer 3, get 1 TPE. 1. The new season is almost upon us! How are you feeling about your build for the first sim? 2. We picked up a backup goalie! How do you think he'll fair compared to our old beloved GOAT Bot? 3. Are you participating in VHFL or Super Coach? Why or why not? 4. Gustav has been booted as AGM and now that role falls on me. Tell me why this was Jacob's best decision ever. /s 5. Out of writing, podcasts, and graphics, which one do you enjoy doing more? Which one do you enjoy checking out other's work for? 6. How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?

  16. Welcome back! This is for the week ending 3/17/2024. You all know the rules: Answer 6, get 2 TPE. Answer 3, get 1 TPE. Let's go! 1. Training camp has opened. Did you click the button??? And how does it feel to officially roll into S93? 2. How do you think your TPE earning will be compared to last season? 3. What do you think you're going to focus your TPE into this season? 4.What do you think of the new team that Jacob has pulled together? 5. What did you think of Jacob's draft picks? 6. Is a hotdog a sandwich? Why or why not?
  17. After a disappointing ending to the season, Jesse Teno went home to Vermont to spend some time with their family, their foundation, and to plan their honeymoon. Much time was spent skiing and running around town with their fiancé as well as some much-needed quality time with their parents. At the local rink, Jesse also spent some quality time with the youth and rec leagues before playing a few games with the beer league. “It’s nice to just come home and be with people I love and do something that I love without all the pressure. Playing in the VHL has been a dream come true but sometimes, I can’t wait for that moment when I can just get on the ice for the pure fun of it. I love this job and I love this game, but I’m looking forward to retiring after next season.” It’s rare to hear a player looking forward to the end of their professional career but that’s what makes Jesse a breath of fresh air sometimes. 172 words for week ending 3/17/2024
  18. Hello and welcome to the off season! I will be your new PC host and I hope we can keep making these interesting. You all know the rules: Answer 6, get 2 TPE. Answer 3, get 1 TPE. Let's go! 1. Welcome to the off season. If you got hit with depreciation, were you able to bring yourself back up? If you didn't depreciate, are you saving up yet in anticipation of it? 2. How did your player react when they got back to the locker room after Game 7? 3. What is your player planning on doing in the off season to prep for the next? 4. We've lost a few to retirement and may lose some to FA. If you could bring any player to London from any other team, who would it be and why? 5. As of right now, London only has 2 final round picks including the last pick. Who do you think London should go for when the dust has settled and the top players are taken? 6. If you could bring back any 1 retired player (from any season) to play with London, who would it be and why?
  19. It was a sad ending to a hard fought season for Jesse Teno and the United. Making it back to the finals for the 2nd time in 5 seasons, it seemed that maybe London would pull it off before the end of an era began. They only needed 1 more win and they would be Champions once more. But fate, and the DC Dragons, had other ideas. It was as close as a game could get. Shots were 53-47 in favor of London and the final score was 2-3. Jesse Teno and Henry Tucker Jr were neck and neck until the end. Teno ended the game with a 0.936 save percentage and Tucker Jr ended with a 0.962. Really you couldn’t have asked more from these 2 spectacular goalies. Teno ends the S92 playoffs with a 14-5-3 record with 3 shutouts, a 0.947 save percentage, and a 2.19 goals-against average. Compared to S88 when London won the cup, it seems that Teno truly was in peak form. 167 words for week ending 3/11/2024

  22. I'll second this! And add that we couldn't have asked for a better leader and GM.
  23. 1. Triller! His production is so well rounded these playoffs. He's definitely one of the main reasons we are where we are. 2. Teno! Sorry but I gotta pick my own player. They have been nearly perfect in the playoffs. 3. Making it into the playoffs despite the roller coaster of wins/losses. 4. Some sad goodbyes to amazing players, the impending ending of Teno's career, and earning as much TPE as possible to go out with a bang. 5. To have fun and let Teno go out on a high. 6. Put my cat inside and take lots of pictures.
  24. Work has been picking up which means I come home and I'm too exhausted to read. So I've been relying on audiobooks on my commute for the last few weeks and will probably continue to do so for the next 6. I knocked out a few childrens classics I've never read but saw the movies. (James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Paddington Bear). I also discovered a free series on Audible called Divine Dungeon and I finished the first book today. It's a great story if you're into D&D or similar games. Right now I'm listening to I'm Just a Person by Tig Notaro. Nice short non-fiction audiobook to break things up a bit.
