Philadelphia Reapers Press Conference

1) Overall just being part of a competitive team. And having Adam Joy and Bazooka be 1 and 2 in defensemen points! Lastly and Selfishly, it’s been Bazooka actually helping the team win and contributing in a meaningful way. 2) ALTO RED! He’s been a stud all year! 3) I wouldn’t change much, its been steady all year…ultimate trust in management though! 4) Elisa McMuffin, league leader in hits and PIMS? Always appreciate that kind of toughness. 5) 3 cups in 3 seasons is a dynasty! But, winning one in the show would have to be the answer for me! 6) Danny Ross…midseason addition and team leader in hits! Brings some much needed toughness to the room! -
That was a golden response bro…hahahah

Theme Week - Tough Guys Man, what a great topic for them week! I grew up on Don Cherry, watching Coaches Corner every Saturday night, eating up every bit of hockey/tough guy knowledge! For this media spot, I’m gonna write about my favorite WHL goons and some beauty’s from the VHL! First up, let’s chat about the WHL….again I grew up going to every Seattle Thunderbirds home game with my dad and back in the early 90’s it was a gong show almost every night! My top WHL tough guys are as follows: Brett Duncan - ‘92-‘93 Season - Seattle Thunderbirds - This dude was an absolute Psycho! Often paired up with the much more talented and NHL Vet Brenden Witt…Duncan went nuts almost every game that season…he was hitting everything and droppin’ the mitts none stop. He played 64 games that season, had 0 goals, 12 assists and 343 PIMS…no fear, reckless and a maniac…loved watching him play! Kevin Popp - ‘94-‘95 Season - Seattle Thunderbirds - Popp was my favorite player during his time with the T-Birds. Only player who I actually bought their jersey (and had him sign it!). He wasn’t the toughest, but he would go with whoever. And he would line guys up nightly and lay the absolute hammer on guys with open ice hits. With 257 PIMS he was active, but he was also a decent stay at home defensemen who didn’t hurt the club. He was a “The Man” in my eyes as a 10 year old. LOL Paul Ferone - ‘95-‘96 Season - Seattle Thunderbirds - While he didn’t have crazy PIM stats (241), he absolutely had the fastest hands I’ve ever seen from a hockey fighter…When he dropped the mits, he was ready to throw ‘em and throw ‘em he did…#7 was a stud, would go with anyone and most of the time, beat ‘em down. Kerry Toporowski - ‘90-‘91 Season - Spokane Chiefs - I barely remember “Topo”…when I first started going to games as a youngster…but what I do remembered is him being a total goon…he had 505 PIMS in 65 games…that’s wild and almost unbelievable…but he also contributed from the backend with 11 goals and 16 assists. Spokane won the ‘ship that year and had absolute studs Ray Whitney and Pat Falloon just lighting it up with 185 and 138 points on the season respectively. Man! Memory Lane…Now on to the VHL! I got two of my favs: John Jameson - Prague Phantoms - Season 90 - Jamo had 244 hits and 311 PIMS in 72 games! What’s better is he had 101 points that season too! Just a goon who also filled up the stat sheet! A plus 29 w/10 GWG, clutch as they come. Hated playing against him that season…but in season 93 (his final season) I got to play alongside Jamo and loved every second of it! Rip Wheeler - Calgary Wranglers - Season 90 - Rip was a wrecking ball that season…Most hated (especially from the Vancouver locker room - Thunder and Scurvy are all time haters!)…but the stats speak for themselves.. 325 hits, Rip hit everything that moved that season. At -22, Rip was definitely a liability out there, but he made up for it with open ice bangers and shots of whiskey after the game. And with only 129 PIMS, Ripper was relatively disciplined, while still laying the wood on the opposition.

1) Nah, “you play…to win…the game…” I want to win every game, every time…lets take the top spot…then bring on all challengers!! 2) I’ve always been told that if your buddy’s dont talk shit or make fun of you….they ain’t your buddies…I’m all for a good prank or ribbing. I always fall for April fools sports stories….:BREAKING!!” Always gets me! Haha 3) Love it, missing piece for the stretch run! 4) Any of the boys on the backend are studs, happy to be paired up with any of them and be ready to cause chaos! 5) Whiskey and a fire put….no better way to wind down! 6) Metallica and AC/DC….always reminded me of growing up going to every Seattle Thunderbirds game as a kid,,,,best times of my life!! -
Bazooka Joe - Mid-Season Update: Alright, let’s knock the rust off a bit here boys…been awhile since ol’ Scotty P laced up the keyboard and threw down some thoughts on a point task. Yes, Scurvy calls me a welfare king…but I can’t really argue with facts. Anyways, a quick update on my latest player, Bazooka Joe! Bazooka is actually killing it this season (98) with the Philadelphia Reapers! Finally finding his grooves he’s been a big contributor on the backend for the boys in Philly! We’ve got some absolute DOGS on the squad who are just tearing it up this season (future media spot about all the boys coming soon “Scotty P Shoutouts!”..But this is just a quick update on Big Bazooka…So this season, Joe has 15 Ginos and 29 assists through 38 games. Little light on the hits, but as long as the team is winning, I’m good with it. It feels good to be a part of such an awesome group and I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the season shakes out! We’ve put the rest of the league on notice…It’s #REAP EM Season Babyyyyyy! Let’s gooo!!

1) probably could have done better, but I think some growing pains were expected. Looking forward to getting better for next season. 2) Bazooka did about what I expected…helped the club more than he hurt the club…so that’s a win! 3) Yeah, I think having a captain on a team promotes leadership and accountability. 4) being more active on discord! 5) I would say best player available, we need someone who can come in and make an immediate positive impact. 6) More offense I think would be the most important add this off season. -
1) Not really. Just for degenerate gambling purposes! 2) Miami LR is legit! Love the vibe! 3) Yes, Always a good matchup against Halifax…and Scurvy always gets into trouble up in Nova Scotia…had to bail the AGM out a few times! 4) I’d trade for Bazooka Joe…total stud. Just needs some seasoning and guidance. 5) Miami is an all around solid team, anyone could step up and fill that role during playoffs. 6) Dogs all day…cats are assholes. lol
-
1) Yup! Turned it on at the right time. 2) Ninefingers…heart and soul of the room. 3) Rip! lol…switched positions let his teammates make it happen up front. 4) Logan 9s….just a stud all around. 5) Bollos….always energetically running his mouth! 6) Nah, the ship is all that matters. 7) I think curses can be real…hockey gods are real…always respect them.

Part 2: Spittin' Chiclets Podcast #69 (niiice) - Bazooka Joe! Biz: [Laughs] Yeah man, wow, it was a wild night. I was just minding my own business, enjoying a nice steak…these jamokes start messing with the assistant manager of the restaurant, I go over to stand up for the guy, and these six idiots jumped me. You know boys, I took some, gave more…I fought them off, got a little banged up myself…but the boys in blue came in and carted em off to the county jail. Whit: That’s insane bro! We gotta figure out who this absolute loser oxygen thief’s are and blow their shit up all over the internet! Bazooka: Yeah, Biz you’re a different bread buddy….a man of the people! Biz: Thanks boys, pain meds are starting to wear off, need some Pink Whitney shots! Haha Whit: Well boys, that's all the time we have for today's episode of Spittin' Chiclets. Thanks for joining us, Bazooka Joe. Keep crushing it out there in Miami. And remember, always take your shots Pink Whitney, post game or pre if you’re feeling dangerous! Haha Bazooka Joe: Will do! Thanks boys, Preciate ya! Outro music plays 195 words

Part 1: Spittin' Chiclets Podcast #69 (niiice) - Bazooka Joe! Intro music plays Whit: Alright, welcome back to another episode of thee Spittin' Chiclets, brought to you by Pink Whitney Vodka, New Amsterdams own. The one vodka that’s as smooth as sauce backhand outta the D zone..Today, we've got a special guest, all the way from the tropical paradise of Miami, Florida. He’s a newcomer in the VHL minors, and honestly he’s on the Pod based on his name alone, Bazooka Joe! Welcome to the show, Bazooka. Bazooka Joe: Hey guys, thanks for having me. Listen all the time, I’m pumped to be on the show! Biz: Alright, so Bazoooooka! Haha, that’s fun to say…ok seriously though tell us, what was it like playing in the "M" for the last few games of season 96…was it a grind? Different from what you expected? A-lot of shots of the Ol Pink Whitney? Bazooka Joe: Yeah, it's was a bit of a grind, for sure. The games are tough and physical in the M, the travel's a little rough. But hey, it's hockey and I’m getting paid to play the game I love…oh and yeah, there was definitely some alcohol involved…more of a whiskey guy, but since I’m here I’ll say yeah, pink Whitney all day! Haha Murls: Speaking of grinds, let's talk about your first goal. What was that moment like? Did you celebrate like a wild man or keep it classy?! Bazooka Joe: (Laughs) I actually thought about a few different cellys, but I figured I'd keep it classy, and act like I’ve been there before…even though I haven’t! No, it a was a pretty special moment. I've been working hard, grateful to get picked up by the Marauders and to finally score that goal was a huge relief. I celebrated with the boys in the room after the game for sure. Whit: So, BJ..haha, that one might stick! Ok, so what's your offseason training regimen gonna look like? Do you spend your summers lifting weights and skating, or are you more of a "Netflix and chill" kind of guy? Bazooka Joe: I'm a pretty dedicated guy when it comes to training. Keep my head down and I hit the gym hard, I skate a lot, and I try to eat healthy. But I also make sure to have fun in between, and yeah, definitely hoping for some Netflix and chill with some of my new lady friends from south beach! Haha Biz: Alright, let's talk about the team chemistry eh? How are you guys gelling together? Any funny stories or pranks? Bazooka Joe: The guys are great. We've got a good mix of vets and young guys in the room, no egos though and everyone gets along. And ah, We've had some good laughs, but as my old pal scurvy says “this stays here” haha… Murls: Speaking of good laughs, Biz, what the hell happened over the weekend, social media is on fire bud, you jumped by six guys at Houston's the other night? Let the world hear straight from the horses mouth!………. 512 words Tune into part 2 on VHL.com

1) Haven’t even started! Bit my daughters have birthdays in November and December…so just been focused on that. 2) 1st, gotta string together some dubs, but I think it’s within reach. 3) nah, wolves Vs. anybody! 4) little bit of pressure off…let’s get through the regular season and gear up for a long playoff run. 5) it’s possible, just gotta keep grinding! 6) nope, never been into racing…although I’ve heard it’s fun to attend in person. I’ll fly out if you have an extra ticket!! lol 7) A turkey sandwich?!? Those are money! lol

Bazooka Joe! Well Rip is still wheelin’ and dealin’ with the Vancouver Wolves for his last hurrah….but, a new day has begun. Starting back in the M….I never thought I’d be playing in the VHL period, let alone starting in my second gen player! All the credit goes to Scrvy and Sharky aka Thunder. The two guys that talked enough shit, guilt tripped me enough to become part of the VHL family. Along the way, I’ve “met” some really cool people..Ricer, Frank and Gaikoku-hito…along with everyone else in that spent time in the wranglers and wolves locker rooms. Preciate you guys! I’m not the best earner or an every day locker room guy…but I’m trying! lol Anyways, I’m back at it with “Bazooka Joe”…and have found a mid season landing spot with the Savages from south beach! Super pumped to be a part of the Marauders fam and looking forward to the upcoming VHLM draft! The name, well it kinda just happened. Scurvy has some influence, but when I think of Bazooka Joe…I think of bubble gum, America, and big time clappers from the blue line. And along with bourbon, these are some of my favorite things! So, that’s what it’s gonna be moving forward…Joes gonna be a bit of a meat head, but with some skills to help the boys on both ends of the ice.

1) TNT - AC/DC 2) Hockey, NHL late 80s early 90s enforcer hayday. 3) pregame shot of Blanton’s, neat. Just to get the juices flowing. 4) Solid tender is the backbone of any successful team. Shutouts make it easy in the boys up front! Just score a geno and it’s a dub! 5) Always good to add some sandpaper to the room…grit and glue…hallmarks of a team built to last. 6) set up the goal…as a defensemen especially, my job is to feed the boys…set em op for success!
