  1. This draft will be great! I mean there's a gigantic Finnish d, a reincarnation of the crazy guy that almost killed the VHL, a guy who can't spell super, what more could you want?
  2. I have no 50 TPE goalie (probably because I haven't built one yet) (EDIT: Just built one) Also, I free claimed Hashtag Jeffership
  3. Oslo free claims Jeffership Oslo claims Cleary
  4. Oslo: S43 all of the money
  5. Or you can just buy the OBNF AND the Jagr and get barely depreciated at all...
  6. Oslo gets S44 Ottawa 2nd Ottawa gets Theo Matsikas Oslo accepts - Matsikas is probably worth a little more but this gets him onto a team that has actives and he's not the lone guy in the LR (plus he'll be on the team my player just went to, for what that's worth)
  7. Oslo picks Roland Rengel
  8. Oslo selects Supa Hot Fire
  9. Oslo gets S44 Bratislava 1st S43 Bratislava 2nd S44 Brampton 3rd Bratislava gets S43 Oslo 1st Kyle Kingma Oslo Accept
  10. Good to be back, let's get this started! (Oh, and in case anyone is curious, this is ONLY going to be a VHLM position - I'm not using it as a stepping stone to get back into the bigs...)
  11. Nope, incorrect. The most followed team is clearly Choose A Team In Question 2.
  12. Old but not forgotten going up is perfect timing for me

  14. Monty Python reference. The Finland song is why I decided Hyvarinen was Finnish, and the skit about the dead parrot "pining for the fjords" crossed my mind when naming the podcast.
  15. I'm coming home!
  16. I would be open to that, should eagles make it happen
  17. If there was ever a player who only appeared in 4 games that would get Playoff MVP, you would be it - but you only appeared in 4 games. That pretty much disqualifies you.
  18. You could always try for Builder HOF, although get in line behind me, Beketov, and Phil...
  19. So I double checked with Draper just to be safe, and even if I recreate now, I can still buy player store for Brookside, update my purchases before depreciation (to stave it off somewhat), update the banked TPE after, and all of that. With that said, Brookside has been a strange ride. I sucked early on (because what else is new, he's my player after all) and he will have the lowest final TPE of any of my three players (956 Intranquilo, 922 Marcellin, 908 Brookside unless there's something lingering out there that I forgot) but all have been in the 900s so I'm just fine with that. Plus, Brookside and Marcellin didn't go as long as Intranquilo, so on a per-season basis I'm still better than I was to start off. I plan to break 1000 with Hyvarinen, considering I'm doing Fjordscast, and I only occasionally do 590s now. A reasonably consistent 2 will always trump a sporadic 1. Brookside was fun, I honestly don't know what everyone is talking about when they say goalie isn't fun, I had a just fine time with him. Certainly enjoyed Brookside more than Marcellin, although nothing will ever top Intranquilo. That's why Hyvarinen will be another defensive d, I enjoyed the position the most and basically want to make a better Intranquilo. Ideally, close to Scarlett, although I know that's blasphemy to some extent. Job-wise, I noticed some speculation in my Fjordscast thread about not having a job, I have a job, and as long as the VHLM Mag exists, I will have a job. I feel like Leonidas at the gap in the cliffs of Thermopylae, trying to fight all the VHLM haters while drastically outnumbered. It will always be just as important to me as the VHL, if not more so since it's the place where people start getting into the league, and the beginning is always so crucial to convincing people to stay. This has been Martin Brookside, signing off.
  20. Starting probably next week or the week after, I'd like to start a semi-regular podcast series called "Fjordscast" It won't be an every week thing I don't think, probably about half the time to 2/3 of the time, and just a 2-pointer, but if anyone wants to guest on it if I can maintain it, let me know in this thread. I want the first few ones to be solo so I can test out the recording setup and everything, but if I can get guesting figured out (which I think I know what to do there, just need to try a few things) then I'd like to start guests on maybe the 5th one or so. Guest list Trifecta Brovy Boubabi Bushito Kendrick Seth
  21. Martin Brookside, goaltender for the Cologne Express, has finally won a cup. This was a long time in coming, although considering some of the results in the early years in Calgary, it might not have been entirely surprising if one never came along for him. Yet here he is, career revitalized after the trade to Cologne, where he has spent a full season and where he will spend one additional season prior to his career coming to a close - although the paperwork will be filed in a matter of days, the league has a rule permitting a player to be "retired" yet still participate, a rule that Brookside is taking Chris of. Many players retire from the VHL and go on to find careers in the NHL, still others find jobs in the front offices of VHL franchises. Brookside will be doing neither of these. Instead, he will be named the head of the marketing division of Brookside Chocolates, a company owned by his uncle Gary and a position he might not be entirely qualified for, but it is if nothing else an excellent PR move by the chocolate company.
  22. This guy - always stealing my cups and shit. Seriously though, ridiculously good team first player.
  23. If this had happened when I was a GM, SEA D2 would be a Wrang
