  1. good luck in the upcoming drafts!
  2. VHL and VHLE drafts fast approaching With the drafts coming up soon we thought we'd take a look at a young forward we looked at a little at the onset of the VHLM season. Annie Oaks is a right winger from the United Kingdom who played her first year in the VHLM between the Saskatoon Wild and the Las Vegas Aces. She finished top 10 in scoring this season and appears to be a highly sought after player in the draft. When we looked at her near the beginning of the season we saw that she focused primarily on offense and little has changed in that regard. She has improved all of her offensive tools while starting to round out some of her weaknesses. Let's take a look at her tools once again ahead of the draft. Offensive Vision - Her vision in the offensive zone is absolutely elite, it is among the top of the draft this year. Her vision looks almost VHL ready at this point now, and we expect it could get even better as she plays more games in the tougher VHLE. She can find open teammates with a pass or can get the puck to the net through traffic as well as the best of them. Shot - Some scouts have said her shot is already at the VHL level, she has a cannon of a slapshot but could stand to work on improving her wrist shot release. Still we can expect to see Annie put up some decent goal totals in the VHLE with her elite clap bomb, however she is not known to be of much use in shootout situations because of her lacking wrist shot. Passing - Annie uses her vision in a myriad of ways, whether that be threading a needle through a defenders skates or just making a simple bounce pass off the boards to help with the breakout. However the thing we noticed throughout the year in the VHLM was she likes to use the opponents goaltender to set up her teammates she is very good at shooting for rebounds that her teammates can then clean up. This was probably her most common way of producing assists this season. Strength - Annie is a strong player she mostly makes use of her strength with her slapshot but has been known to play the body a little bit too. She has a low center of gravity and is hard to push off the puck. It remains to be seen if she will work to add a more physical element to her game. Puck handling - We had this listed as a weakness for her at the start of the year, and although it's still not her best asset she has worked on improving this part of her game. In order to create more offense this is a part of the game Annie should definitely invest some time into. Defense - This has grown very little over the year and may scare some teams out of drafting her. Teams expect their forwards to play defense in the VHL and although she has put some time into working on it, it still needs lots of work in order to be ready for the VHL. Skating - This is her weakest attribute and only improved a little over the course of the VHLM season. She is slow and not going to create much offense with her skating, Annie is the type of player who likes to slow the game down and play with smarts and patience. We asked Annie on what her thoughts going into the draft were and if there were any teams she was particularly interested in getting drafted by. "I'm very excited for the upcoming drafts and have had some great talks with GMs so far, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a couple of teams that I feel are ahead of the rest. I'd love to play in my home country for the London United, however that's unlikely due to the success they had this year, so my next choice is my home away from home Vancouver. I played my junior hockey in Vancouver, so it feels a lot like home to me, and they have some great young offensive talent coming in this season, so to join them maybe next year would be exciting." The Vancouver Wolves hold the 4th pick in this years draft and will have lots of great players to choose from so only time will tell where Annie will go. However it's common speculation that it will be around the top half of the first round. This has been Jim Hotdog for VHL.com
  3. This was an enjoyable read, very well written article Houston had a great year and looked like an awesome place to be. From the outside of that room even I could tell and I'm sure others could too that it was a fantastic room with a great culture. looking forward to seeing all the bulls in the VHLE next year. Hoping to see more Vencko shenanigans over in Europe, wish you all the best. 9/10
  4. I was completely and undeniably Jorged on.
  5. The Philadelphia Reapers are VHLM champs. The VHLM playoffs concluded this week with the Philadelphia Reapers sweeping the Las Vegas Aces in the finals. A strong team performance in front of excellent goaltending was too much for Vegas to overcome, newcomer to Vegas Annie Oaks @Noodle Enjoyer was completely shutdown and didn't register a single point in the four game series. we were able to catch up to Annie while she was preparing for the JST and she had this to say: "I felt like I was getting shots on, but I have to give credit to Philly they shut us down. However I didn't start playing hockey with a founders cup as the end goal, I'll be starting from the bottom again next year in the VHLE and I'm never going to stop improving. I can't let this loss get me down, I'm going to get right back on the ice and do my best!" it's good to see that she is already looking forward to the next step, with the VHL and VHLE draft coming up and the JST currently ongoing there's no time to get depressed over the loss. There is a lot of excitement for this years draft with many great players set to hear their names called. Annie is one of those players as well as two of her opponents from the finals in Jorgen Lovstrom @Pifferfish and Yermolai Nabokov @fonziGG regardless of when or where these players end up we wish them all the best. 6. Welcome to the league, would love to have you on the Royals!
  7. This was an enjoyable read, having high expectations early and meeting those to start the season is great, and I imagine the pressure to keep the cup streak alive is burdening. Taking the time to look at the future of the team after your moving on is always good, it sucks to go down in a sweep especially in close games too, the puck luck just wasn't there I suppose. Looking back and keeping fond memories of your time despite falling short is admirable too. 9/10
  8. Welcome to the league
  9. It's going to take some doing but we can turn this around.
  10. Wonderful article can't wait to see Lucy Leitner in the VHLE as well as all the Bulls making jump and my former teammates on Saskatoon and Vegas let's all reach for the top of every league we're in and make each other the best we can be!
  11. Yeah that would be pretty demoralizing if I created at the start of a season and then midway through the season someone creates and is just better than me.
  12. 7. For me it's @UghSike and @frescoelmo starting at the same time as ughsike and on the same team as both of them then playing against them in the postseason it's a friendly rivalry that pushes all of us to be better. 10. I think as advise I would say to turn on the STHS ratios when you're spending your TPE so you have a better idea what each stat gives. 11. that my player has been as successful as she has, I didn't see myself finishing top 10 in scoring and then being on a team going to the finals in the postseason. 12. @Ricer13 Ricer is the friendliest person I've interacted thus far, he is very talkative on discord and always willing to help out. 13. So far so good started going to gym 4-5 days a week in mid Feb and hoping to make sure I keep it up. 14. Nothing so far, planning to save money this year and finally go on an actual legit vacation next year though.
  13. I'd be stoked to go in the top 10 thanks for the mention, I'm really looking forward to the VHL draft to see where my future lies.
  14. Thanks for your kind words. The way I see it all the Philly doubt has to catch up to them here, then again maybe they'll just make us all look like clowns. Should be a fun series either way.
  15. yo this looks Fire
  16. Welcome to VHL, good luck and have fun!
  17. The founders cup finals are upon us The founders cup finals have arrived and it will feature the top two teams from the regular season so no upsets this year. It will be the league leading Philadelphia Reapers taking on the Las Vegas Aces in a battle for the ages, we're going to look at some keys to victory for each team and predict the outcome of this battle of titans. First let's take a look at the league-leading Reapers. Their strongest point is between the pipes in star netminder Jorgen Lovstrom @Pifferfish, and they will be looking to get another stellar performance out of him, they may well need it as they seemed to be outmatched in every regard besides the goaltending matchup. As such a strong performance from the likes of Yermolai Nabokov @fonziGG, Taylor Swift @lilchrist, and Walter Jinn @Adrest245 may be needed as they carry the load up front and are the stars of their forward group. On the back end they will be looking for Enn Jinn @jhatty8 to continue his magnificent post season play to help their scoring. Ultimately we believe it will fall on Jorgen Lovstrom to find another gear in this series if Philadelphia is to come out ahead. Second we have the winners of the west, the Las Vegas Aces this is a team which has no shortage of offensive weapons. Looking at the forwards they have an impressive first line of Piston Maicupp @MandyManiac, Stinky @taylorherd, and Elle Aura Ashe @Lynersify this line has dominated every team they've faced, they've scored a combined 42 points in the ten games they've played. Part of the reason for that is their strong second line that teams can't ignore with Caesar Monterrey @CaptainGatsby, Finneas Finnegan O Cleirigh @Gorth, and Annie Oaks @Noodle Enjoyer this is probably the best second line in the league at the moment and forces teams to decide on who their top players will matchup against, they have combined for 26 points thus far. The backend is a significant strength for Vegas as well led by star blueliner Bric Sheithaus @Oldhead91 and has other quality players like Scored SVN Goals in a VHL Game @KitRas, and Harjen Van Araken @VaderTheTater this is probably behind only Houston's blueline as the strongest in the league. As the last line of defense the Aces have Hugo Boss @Dil who isn't thought to be the better goalie in this matchup but has provided strong numbers all postseason so far, and with the strong lineup in front of him the Reapers will have a hard time getting quality chances. If Philly wants to win this series, they will need an elite performance in net and Nabokov to really light up the Vegas goaltending while finding a way to defend against Vegas' depth. For Vegas they will want more of the same from their top two lines in the offensive zone, while their defenders choke out the Philly offense to keep the prime scoring chances low. We believe that Lovstrom will steal a couple games here but Philadelphia will eventually fall in six games to the deeper Vegas lineup. What are your thoughts, feel free to write in and tell me why I'm wrong. Jimmy "Tha Rat" Klondike for VHL.com 528 words claiming for week ending March 3rd
  18. we're ready for you Philly
  19. I enjoyed this article it was well written and does a good job of telling us what went well and what needs to be worked on for your future. I for one am excited to see where Del Rocco ends up next year and the future. Looking forward to more great articles like this. 10/10
  20. The Las Vegas Aces are going to the finals The Las Vegas Aces have swept the Miami Marauders in 4 games to punch their ticket to the Founders Cup finals and will face the winner of the Houston Bulls and Philadelphia Reapers series. Houston is currently leading the series 3-2 both teams will pose a significant threat for the cup this year, but either one knows they will have to defeat a powerhouse Vegas squad that has an offense that no one has been able to find an answer to as of yet. For Vegas either potential opponent represent a tough series, Philadelphia won the regular season title this year on the strength of the best goaltending this year so if Lovstrom gets hot he could steal any series, not only that but they might have the best chemistry of any team with how many Jinns are on the roster. As for Houston they have the most complete roster of any team and has been many watchers favorite to win the whole thing this year. They added a top centre ad the deadline this year and all their players have grown greatly over the course of the year making them a threat to win it all. Jimmy "Tha Rat" Klondike for VHL.com
