  5. didn't we used to do 1 capped for posting in 3 game threads that week?
  6. I can't believe I'm here doing another point task for the 3rd time in 4 weeks but that's the way she goes I suppose. Anyways, I'm here for theme week and one of the topics I'm going to cover here is my favorite players in VHL history and who out of them do I think would make the best possible dream team. So let's start with the forward lineup and we'll see where it goes from there. Center - Anton Brekker (DAV) @DGFX. Brekker was the captain of the team when I finally starting taking on responsibility as a larger member. He took a flyer on me with Volkov getting drafted in the late rounds and made the league really fun for me at a time where I needed it. His player was a certified stud and he made our rivalry with Helsinki at the time extremely fun because he wasn't afraid to shit talk. Brekker was an all around center, 3 time Continental Cup winner and not to mention an 800 point player in a shade over 500 games. He's very overlooked in VHL lore despite being a Hall of Famer. Left Wing - Matt Bentz @Matt Matt Bentz was the guy who originally recruited me back into the league all the way back in Season 6, so his player again has a big stamp on my VHL career so I figured I would have him here as he was the type of guy whose career I always followed pretty closely. Bentz is certainly on the lower end of the totem pole in terms of Hall of Fame players, but to me he could play both ends of the ice and was two way player that helped the Wranglers through some tough days. He was difficult to play against similar to Brekker, and I think they would fit perfectly. Right Wing - Leeroy Jenkins @Squinty One of the more personal ones to me on this list, Jenkins' agent Squinty was one of my best friends on this site and we still talk off the site to this day. At the time of his retirement Jenkins was considered one of the only players who could possibly compare to Scotty Campbell. Although he was a hitman for hire and often jumped teams, he was seemingly incapable of not winning a championship. And his physical play at the time was unprecedented as he finished his career leading the VHL all-time in hits. Defense - Alexander Valiq & Matt Bentley @Koradek @Victor Two of the best defenseman of all-time and two of my favorite members of all time. This was an easy decision for me, both of these defenseman utterly dominated the VHL with Valiq even having a trophy named after himself after all this time. He was extremely prolific offensively and led the Quebec City Meute to their first title as an organization not long after they came about in expansion. Bentley however was as prolific as a scorer as Koradek but also known for his two way play, managing to win 2 Labatte Trophies and smashing 100 points 3 times in his career. Again, a winner in every sense of the word Bentley nabbed 2 Continental Cups with the Davos Dynamo due to his ability to dish the puck all over the ice to his forwards. At the time of his retirement he was 4th all time in defenseman assists. Goalie - Alexander Labatte @sterling Labatte was my goalie in Riga for our final season as he signed on with us to try and help me win one last title with one of my players and he will always be one of my favorites for that attempt, even if we fell short in the finals. He finished his career with 3 Aidan Shaw Trophies and 1 Continental Cup. His 3 year stretch of winning 3 Shaw Trophies straights is one of the best stretches of performance in VHL history. He was also extremely clutch in the playoffs despite not being able to capture multiple titles.
  7. 1)how did you discover Hockey? Been part of my life since I was born. 2)what's your favorite team of any league? LA Kings, NHL. 3)do you have any game day rituals? I usually eat the same dinner on game days. 4)have you ever been to a live game? More than I can count. 5)do you collect jerseys /cards? I did as a kid, not anymore. 6)what's the weirdest memory you have related to hockey? Flipping off a coach.
  8. Stormsson Struggling to Find Game in Calgary Jonas Stormsson made the decision to opt out of the VHLM this season, despite not quite being ready to make the leap in terms of his skills. Instead he specifically requested to Wranglers GM Ryan Jubis to let him play in the big club this year and let him build his game as the season progressed. Jubis agreed to the rookie's request and so far it hasn't exactly worked out for them. Stormsson has only managed 1 goal and 5 points in 30 games so far this season, and the Wranglers need their raw rookie to bring a lot more to the table than he already has if they want to make a run at the playoffs this season. Stormsson was known as a shooter in the VHLM and scouts agreed that when he develops he's going to be mainly a trigger man, shoot first type of player. But since getting to the Wranglers Stormsson has realized that with his developmental curve still having a long way to go that he needs to start working on the defensive side of his game if he is going to end up being valuable for the Wranglers going forward for the rest of the season. Calgary has had an up and down season so far, being only 1 win above .500 and playing down to teams below them and playing up to teams above them. It seems the Wranglers cannot quite find their identity this season and when we are approaching the halfway mark of the season, that's something that needs to be figured out sooner rather than later. With the veteran players on the Wranglers managing to carry the load for a team that's fairly young, the rookies Luke Thornton and Jonas Stormsson need to find a way to help contribute and lessen the burden for the Wrangler's bigger players. We managed to catch up with the rookie Stormsson on what he thinks needs to happen to improve his perforamnce after their disappointing 3-2 loss against the Prague Phantoms, a team that the Wranglers feel like that they should be winning over in most of their meetings. Calgary is hoping to finally make the turn on their season here coming up on the halfway point of the season, if they don't manage to stop playing down to their opponents it's hard to imagine them being in the playoffs as the season progresses.
  9. 1)what is clicking? I think we are finally learning to play together and we are comfortable with one another.. 2) what is left to click? I think i can continue to improve myself to help the team. 3) who would you consider it's having the most impact? Time playing together. 4)we had a couple games with tons of penalties. What happened? I think we let the game get away from us and we need to be better in that sense. 5)any suggestions for the coaches? Nope I let the GMs handle that. 6) are you happy with the team? Of course, I'm just happy to be here.
  10. 1) Calgary started slow this season, did it concern you? I think we are all starting slow but we'll pull it together as the season goes along. No worries 2)the rookies are making an I mediate impact, do you think that this will bring some competition inside the team? I need to be better for sure. I'm doing my best to get better every day. 3)our Goalie has been on point this last couple games, has the team ambience has anything to do with that? I think it's mostly him being in the zone. 4)what's Calgary's biggest threat now that we proved we could beat Seattle? Every team is a challenge. 5) what would you consider it's your biggest strength? Work ethic 6) and your major weaknesses? I have a lot of room to grow and we are competing now.

  13. 1) What is your favorite draft memory? Why? Going 1st overall in S25 was a great honor. 2) Are you surprised by any pick on this last draft? I was surprised Thornton fell so low. 3) What do you think are the strengths of s74 Wranglers draft class? I think we got a lot of experience and bang for our buck. 4) what would you made different if you had the chance? I think we had a great draft, but I'm biased. 5) have you been able to chat with the rookies? If so what are your thoughts? I've talked to the other rookies yes. 6) If you could pick any trade from last draft and change it, witch would it be? Ah I don't know a ton about that.
