NickSunderbruch 392
I've been part of the Toronto Legion for two seasons, and I'd like to share some of my experience and what I've learned from my time in the League and in my locker room. I'll start off with my time in the VHLM for a brief moment as I have some people in mind I want to talk about in particular. So I was picked up as a free agent in season 72 and it was an awesome experience at first. I was welcomed into the Vegas locker room by @Spartanwho took a chance on a first gen free agent who played in 2018 but quickly went inactive. So him taking a chance on me like that was a huge confidence booster, and really showed how confident he was in himself to get me to be able to update. I also met some linemates in my first season like @fonziGG , @G_Rush, and @Crstats23who all showed me immense love and support. My second season seemed to fly by as I was on the second line with @frescoelmo , The second season was even more enjoyable than the first. Mainly because we made a deep playoff run and were a top contending team. I was capped by the time playoffs arrived so I knew I was going to move up. While I was saddened when we lost in 7 games to the eventual champs, I was still happy to play alongside my teammates for the last time. Then I was tossed into the pros, I stepped into the Toronto locker room, and things felt kind of off for me. I knew that we were a team who wasn't going to be competing and I was happy to just pad my stats and move forward hopefully to the ROTY award. We had some, unsavory, people making the Toronto locker room kind of hostile feeling and it made me less keen to want to update. But my rookie of the year race pushed me forward. While at the end of the season, we didn't make the playoffs and it was apparent I wasn't in the discussion for ROTY, and I was okay with that, but the locker room presence hadn't changed much. You see we had some, as you'd say conflicting personalities in the locker room, and they ended up eventually being traded away as they didn't seem to fit with the locker room dynamic @Peacewas trying to build. I was relieved to see that I could breathe in the locker room, however the damage was already done. My sophomore season in Toronto started off rough, I was putting up some points but not nearly at a pace I was satisfied with, and on top of the locker room shock I had experienced I had many new things pop up in my real life. I gradually started updating less and less, I felt my interest not just in the league, but with hockey itself start to fade. And that's when I knew something was wrong. After a few weeks of this, I started to actively participate in the league again. I didn't know where to begin, but it was at the end of the season so I knew that it was too late for me to help change the season around for my team. And honestly I feel insanely guilty for that, my not updating likely caused us to lose key games that were close. We ended up getting the 6th overall pick, and we did fairly well in the draft lottery. So the future absolutely seems better. I'm going to be updating more and I'm going to try and make my GM and team proud. I'll always remember what Peace told me when he drafted me back in S73, he told me he thinks I had the potential to be the biggest steal of the draft. I don't personally think that I was, however I'm going to make sure I am now. Toronto is back on for S77, and we're going to win the cup with style. I hope you all enjoyed this article this week, give me some ideas for things I can cover around the league for next week. Anyways, take it easy, stay warm, and stay icy. Seacrest out. KC15 340
Definitely easy to read on the technical side. Grammar, spelling, etc. all there, which is greatly appreciated. Flows from one idea to the next well too. And I appreciate the reflection on your experience as a user as well. This kind of thing moves the league forward too as a reminder how crucial LR experience is and not just the wins and losses. 8.5/10 thadthrasher and NickSunderbruch 2 Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/100538-my-experience-so-far/#findComment-830597 Share on other sites
