Why is the league so restrictive on where you are able to play?

I stated this in my podcast I released today but I assume that next to nobody will listen, just like next to nobody will read this post.

Murray is entering their 1st full season and currently as of posting (and getting approved) this I will have 176 TPE. With roughly two more weeks until the start of the next season I will have 204 TPE. However according to the rules I will be stuck in the VHLM. There is no option to choose to play up in the VHLE even though by the start of the season I would be eligible.

Not only will I be stuck in a league meant for new members to learn, a league where I will be taking minutes away from the people who need them. I will be stuck with a set amount of TPE for the full season whilst a lot of people get to experience the new system first hand.

So, let me be in the VHLE

Average VHLE Hater here to say a few things.

-Basically this exact topic is actually a BoG thread right now. A lot of people agree with you (or at least believe that the option should exist to make a choice).

-I don't even disagree with being able to make a choice as long as the community's idea of what the VHLM and VHLE are supposed to be doesn't shift to "VHLM is for first-gens exclusively" and/or "VHLE is for recreates exclusively". I've long held the position that a recreate who's actually active in a VHLM server is one of the most valuable things that league can have for development. Players need to make connections and feel like they belong in the community as a whole, and there's nothing better than being accepted by those who have a history of representing the community outside of the VHLM locker room. If someone wants to skip the VHLM, cool, go for it--there's just often the message attached to that that merely existing on a VHLM team, regardless of any support provided, is actively hurting the VHLM, and that's an argument that only serves to divide people unnecessarily.

Yeah look, I am not active in discord really at all recently, and I am long past my days of being a helpful member. Would rather see a first gen get top line minutes of my dumb ass.

Which is why "is this member helping" is largely situation-specific.

One of the things I enjoyed with Taro and look forward to doing with Vandelay is helping the new players understand things and generally being there to talk in the locker room. I don't even know if I'll be below the VHLM cutoff after this offseason, but if I am, I don't really need to be told that I don't belong where I am or that I should somehow feel ashamed of myself for stealing some new kid's thunder--because I want to help and I think I can make a positive mark on my team while I'm there.

Not saying that you've said any of this, of course, just that these are things I've seen come up in the past in connection with posts like these and I'd rather address that point before it comes up again.

Potentially it could be similar to the VHLE where if you are 150-200 you have a choice

I have read the post!!

And I agree as my player will also be very close and/even over the 200 TPE cut off by the start of the season and in a post that I am sure very few people read stated the same thing. I have nothing to prove in the VHLM as I already won the Founder`s Cup this season with Saskatoon Wild. I am not active in the LR unless I think something might be happening that I should make an appearance for and I feel that a new player would be better placed dominating in the VHLM or leading a VHLM team then I would as I simple bank waiting to move to the VHLE the follow year. Which I am also going to be over 300 TPE so would likely also be looking to move straight into the VHL depending on the team that drafts me via their needs.

There is nothing wrong with the M though. If it wasn't for the new update is happily play there. If I was a new create I would definitely want to be in the M.
