Team Europe has been a perennial powerhouse, medaling in the past 5 World Cups, with 2 golds. Last season came as a bit of a shock from the hockey community, however, when Team Europe was shocked by Scandinavia in the gold medal round. This year, however, they are back, and hoping for a gold medal. This is the squad that @Phil has put together:

FORWARDS

Tyson Kohler - @Kendrick - The right winger from Cologne had a down season this year, finishing third in the team with 67 points, but he is still a premier sniper in the league. Kohler is considered a leader in the Cologne LR, something that GM Phil Knight knows a lot about, and he must have really liked what he saw because he slotted Kohler in on the top line. "I am stoked to be a big part of Team Europe." Kohler told the VHL press, "Hopefully this time we can master the field and come out on top"

Essian Ravenwing - @der meister - Ravenwing had a tough time this year on the lowly Vikings, but his playmaking was still present as he led the team in assists with 33. His team will be looking for him to be the team's premiere playmaking center as he skates on the first line.

Shawn Muller - @TheLastOlympian07 - Muller jumped into the elite category of the VHL this year when he finished 9th in scoring. Muller impressed Team Europe officials so much that he was given a spot on the team's top line. He is a much more balanced player, and will be expected to put up plenty of goals, assists, and hits.

LeAndre St. Pierre - @atw2592 - St. Pierre was once the most promising winger in the VHL, but he has since slowed down.  This season he had just 66 points, but that can be accredited to the Toronto offense slowing down. Phil Knight will be hoping that he can regain his scoring touch on Europe's second line.

Thaddeus Humbert - @Mr. Power - Humbert was somehow almost left off of Team Europe's roster, but that was cleared up quickly. While he isn't the most prolific scorer, he is an elite face off man, this year winning almost 60% of his draws! He will be taking that talents Team Europe's second line. "Europe is on a single mission" Humbert declared, "Keep the medal streak alive."

Sean Blacker - @frescoelmo - Blacker has been a charachter in the VHL ever since he made the jump to the pros last year. Despite scoring in the league dipping, Blacker was able to raise his point total on Davos, scoring 11 more goals and adding a hint of physicality to his game. He will be on the team's second line, looking to prove himself in his World Cup debut.

DEFENSEMEN

Jeff Hamilton - @sterling - For the first time in his career, Jeff rose above the shadow of his brother Phil and gained the title of "Best Hamilton". He is a great offensive defenseman that also has a penchant for blocking shots. He will be skating on the first pairing with his brother.

David Hamilton - @Knight - When you're considered the third best of three brothers, and are still an All-Star caliber defenseman, you know you have a good pedigree. David had a much improved year, and is essentially in the same mold as his brother Jeff, who he will be skating next to on the top line.

Phil Hamilton - @Phil - It has been a disappointing year for Phil, who was supposed to be an MVP candidate. Despite the drop off in points, he was still 4th among defensemen in points and led all defensemen in hits. It seems that his drop in production has led to Knight putting him on the bottom line, where he will bring his two way defensive play to good use.

World B. Free - @stevo - The only defensemen not named Hamilton on this list, Free has had a down year as well, in both points AND hits. GM Knight is hoping that by pairing him up will fellow struggling defenseman Phil Hamilton on the second line, he can regain his physicality and scoring touch.

GOALIES

Hans Wingate - @CowboyinAmerica - WinGod apparently didn't like being overshadowed last year by Clegane. He answered by putting up the same save percentage as Greg did last year, as well as breaking the GAA record he had just set. Once again, he will be the starting in net for Team Europe.

Greg Clegane - @Victor - Greg Clegane had a 'down' year this year, but when your stats only dip a small amount after a record breaking year, it's hard to be disappointed. Clegane will once again be manning the bench behind Wingate this year, but at least he still beat out his brother Sandro for the spot on the team! When asked about how he felt about being on Team Europe, Clegane only grunted and walked away.
