I decided to go back and look at the last time Calgary won the draft lottery, and you have to go ALL THE WAY BACK TO SEASON 28!!!! Unbelievable bad luck. Meanwhile, in that time period Helsinki has won the bloody lottery 5 times, including two back to back lottery wins! Here is the teams who have won the draft lottery since S28: Helsinki: 5 New York: 2 Riga: 3 Stockholm/Vasteras: 2 (Yes, Vasteras won a draft lottery more recently than Calgary!) Toronto: 3 Quebec: 1 Davos: 3 Seattle: 2 Cologne: 3 All 9 teams have that many draft lottery wins in the same time it took Calgary to get 1. Brutal. Looks like I need to get a few more words. The luckiest buggers are New York, they've missed the playoffs three times in the last sixteen years and won the lottery twice when they didn't.
