Nice to see a strong start to the season! These early wins could come up huge in the end of regular season, so I am hoping we can keep it up and collect more wins.

 

We have 5 or more goals in 6 of our 13 games. What do you think is driving the explosiveness of our offense?

The new rule/bonus: you can skip practice the next day if you score a goal in a game. Players have responded well to it.

When 3/4 of your defencemen are playing at a point-per-game pace or better, that's going to drive a lot of offence.

Great question, probably gloves since I feel like that'd be a bit of a novelty.

Probably Riga, looks amazing and I've never been to Latvia before.

What would you say is your player's most underrated skillset?

I think right now, nothing, but in the future I think David David will have a pretty high level of puck handling for a defenceman.

1. Yeah, we’re hot. But that’s what is expected of a team like ours and hopefully we’re giving the fans a good show!

2. We have top talent on the team, so that can only bring good things.

3. Tay-Tay! But I would go with the newer albums. I’d probably select Red or 1989.

5. Probably, London. Can’t say I’ve been able to visit the city and enjoy everything it has to offer.

1. Well, Toronto is in my books the other top dog. Maybe not as star-powered, but I'd say they're likelier than any other team to make the finals this season.

2. I feel like it is always safest to bet against anyone winning any award ever. So I'll say that to complete the narrative, Obuz will win 0 awards this season.

3. The team is required to lose at least once a week so we have something to say other than college sports and declaring Spartan's suckiness.

4. Position Switching

5. If we're going by standings right now its definitely HSK and NYA. Both feel like a strong conference finals option.

6. I can assume their top 2 units even out any other opponent's top 2 units, but I can't say I guarantee they'll outperform. From there it comes to depth and goaltending, and again, I'm not certain that group can grind out some hard-earned goals. I say they fall apart to a scrappier squad!

1. I think they're just a good team, there aren't many of them in the league so they're probably our top competition outside the EU as it stands.

2. Dickhead award. He's a real ass in the LR and on the ice.

3. No posting dogs, I just don't like them.

4. Anything involving those stupid seal emotes, they're ugly and look braindead. Get rid of them.

5. Riga's crept their way up in the EU standings, so maybe they're not a dark horse anymore. But they're in a similar spot to us where they're leaning on some retiring players and they'll be hungry for a strong push in their final season.

6. I think they could go deep, certainly a good team that many teams are now trying to model retools after. I don't think it's feasible for the league to imitate them, but kudos to them for baiting teams into trying shorter rebuilds that are likely destined for failure.

Superior luck combined to lackluster competition of NA, they are able to get those favorable bounces and play against Moscow well-rested as majority of NA hardly gives them a sweat. Meanwhile, Moscow has to shovel away against elite-level teams in EU.

Some kind of award that makes him feel good for participating in VHL this season.

All the entrances must have bead curtains, but instead of beads the curtains are made with razor blades, all the players and staff must walk through the razor blade curtains to enter the LR and make small sacrifice to Simon T with their blood.

Turning off the music of Josh Groban should result in lengthy suspension

 

Who is a good dark horse team that we should watch out for this season?

London maybe, they have the most shots in the league, but have not won as many games as you might expect.

I think they will have solid run, they will try to win it for Ovechkin!

I always try to look at young teams where their players are developing quickly. They can really sneak up on unsuspecting teams. So, for example, if London makes the playoffs they might make some noise.

They have such a solid backbone to their team it'll be surprising if they don't make a run. The East isn't that strong this year either.

1. I'm not too worried about small rough patches, I think it's always good to have a reality check once in a while and use that as fuel to keep improving and not remain stagnant.

2. I really doubt it, we've already had some motion with VAN trying to ice a normal roster and RIG trying to get a bit more juice for a push. I can't see anyone else really making a swing.

3. I have job pay, no writing PTs for me. I could, but I don't really care for this theme.

4. I'd love to see a true decision-making attribute. I hate that way it's currently tied into attributes where you tend to do more of whatever you have higher. There's no reason your player should mostly just shoot instead of make a good pass because of what STHS prefers for success. Or not dump the puck in instead of trying to charge across the blue line. A true IQ stat would be gamechanging.

5. Fire a few GMs, give recruitment a bigger budget and direct involvement with me, the league overlord.

1. Honestly nothing, I think it was more of a case that too much was going right before and we're settling into the kind of team that we actually are. Which is still the top EU team, still in contention for the Victory Cup, and still capable of having individual league leading performances.

2. Honestly, I don't expect much to happen at all. There really isn't much spare talent kicking around, and most of the fighting over it happened before the season started. Maybe we'll see some flash sales from Vancouver and Seattle, but that'll depend on buyers having the room to buy.

3. Well I certainly will, and I plan on doing something like I always do, which is skirt the line of what technically counts as the Theme but isn't at all what the Blues meant.

4. I think I'd probably split Checking into Hitting and Stick Checking.  That way I we could still have dominant defensive players who would be able to do so separately from Hitting, which is prone to discipline.

5. I would get Gold Drafting set up, I would bully Josh into giving us a Portal API, I would set up farm teams in the M, and create a Co-GM job that gets paid 2 Capped/Week to get practice on the Farm Team's STHS, while helping with the culture and logistics of the whole franchise. I would drop Welfare to 2TPE and Pension to 4TPE. I would introduce some Goaltender Hybrid Attributes, assuming I couldn't get us a new sim engine.

6. I try to mind my own business but there is always one person who makes choppy video calls on speakerphone literally the entire flight, and the person on the other side sounds like they're running through a nursery that is on fire and also stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. That's unacceptable.

Players are too comfortable out there,  the management has not threatened to trade anybody away in the public for the longest of time, threats behind just the closed doors is not enough, sometimes you need to have the pressure from the public also.

Maybe, the teams not in the playoff spots currently have some interesting players that I am sure will interest the top teams, we could see move or two.

I will do something, i was thinking of trying to do some kind of graphical piece, but I might not have what it takes to create one. We shall see, gotta get that tasty TPE bonus.

Smiling - if your player smiles a lot the other players are more likely to hit you or try to fight you, because nobody likes overly positive people.

Not everybody knows it, but "du bocage" is French and means "bottom of the table". I think Obuz was like the bottom of the table - he was there. He helped to keep the plates and cups steady, rain or shine you could trust in Obuz.

 

We also saw a relatively quiet trade deadline, but Riga added another stellar defenseman. Do you have any fear that this could hurt us in the playoffs?

It is only natural that division and league rivals try to catch up to the top team - Moscow Menace.  The only fear is in Riga as they desperately try to find ways to stop Moscow Menace.

 

Which potential playoff opponent do you think would give us the the best series to watch in the playoffs?

London perhaps, they seem to have a lot of high-scoring games this year, so could make for fun hockey to watch!

Matthews or Draistl could maybe do it if they stay healthy and play long ass careers.

Taking pictures and videos should be banned. Getting to watch Moscow Menace is a spiritual moment, real art in the real world. Fans should let other fans enjoy the experience and they should themselves watch Moscow with their own eyes and not through their phones.

He sits 5th all time in points while playing mostly every season as a defenceman, also winning a cup. It's safe to say he's likely going to have his number retired and be fondly remembered.

Naw you have to believe in yourselves. Just have to hope for the luck in the playoffs.

Probably Helsinki because of their offence. Feel like it would be fun to see a high-scoring series.

Realistically only Matthews has a shot, but he needs to stay healthy which he's been unable to do so far in his career.

1. Obuz's legacy can't be understated. A true Moscow legend with a whole career with the team, fan base, city, and country. Team-first mentality always, which was demonstrated by his efforts in switching positions this season.

2. I don't. I still think we're the team to beat.

3. In the European conference, I believe Helsinki's offensive firepower could be the best series to watch. Davos struggled at points, which could be due to Tsunami's career season and its impact on Bucatini and Rocco.

4. Maybe, it's a tough one. Matthews could be in a position to do it, but I don't believe he'll play that long.

5. Obstructing view. Repeatedly standing during play or waving signs in front of others. Snap your pics, and cheer, but don't film like it’s a concert. Warnings first, then removal if it continues.

1. Jarmo has been a fantastic cornerstone of the franchise for the last 8 seasons. Being able to score goals, generate offense, and contain the other team's best players has made Jarmo a player that will be incredibly hard to replace. Being able to fight for a spot on an always talented Menace roster, and continue to put up franchise-leading numbers is a feat that truly only one has been able to do!

 

2. Well hopefully, since our final game is against Malmo, we can score a million goals against them and square away any final milestones. The fans can get some legendary memorabilia, and we can all rest up for next season!

 

3. I do worry about the morale game, even if others don't. Having won with London from the wild card spot, with arguably a very wild card team, it just makes sense to me that the early momentum plays a part. Whether or not it evens out the on-paper skill difference is probably why the overall series wins even out a decent amount.

 

4. Woods is definitely a flip phone kind of gal. So definitely no social media, and honestly, probably not much TV for her either. I feel like she might listen to some hockey podcasts or radio shows, as background noise, and perhaps might have some private choice words for those with awful takes.

 

5. I've never really been one for arguing online with opposing fans, but I do have some ideas. Seattle to me is the Bruins equivalent. At least up until recently, they were old and washed and were going to be on the decline, and then well they make the playoffs, and make a decent dent. You question their methods, and then they still figure it out. Very frustrating to argue with, because you're right, the team doesn't LOOK good enough, but then they show up and how do you counter that? And then there's Malmo, which feels like the Canadiens for me. For the longest time, they had a good team, with some very obvious flaws. You call out those flaws, and the Malmo fans show up to worship the ground their players walk on. And then those weaknesses get exploited, and they're up in arms about how the sim is rigged, or nobody sees the team like they should.

 

6. The best way to assert dominance in hockey is to get a lead, and keep playing aggressive. Hits talk, fights talk, but at the end of the day, pucks in the back of your opponents net control the emotions in the game. The fans know it, the players know it. So Woods will be looking to make sure that the score is always in Moscow's favour.

1. Another Moscow legend, Jarmo Ruutu, is retiring at the end of this season. What mark do you feel he has left on the franchise?

He has provided Moscow with consistent and incredible offensive playmaking. Let's get him a continental his final year.

 

2. How would you expect fans to react to the final regular season game for Ruutu and Obuz?

I fully expect a loud... and very messy... standing ovation for the two legends.

 

3. Should we dodge (or should we have dodged) the victory Cup?

If im being completely honest. I have no idea at this point in time and believe the GM will make the right call.

 

4. Would your player argue with fans on social media?

No, my player doesn't understand how to use social media.

 

5. Which team do you think would have the most annoying fans to argue with?

Moscow, because the fans are so passionate that they wont back down!!!

 

6. How would you try to assert yourself with opponents on the ice in our first playoff game?

As a goalie, I would leave that to the much more aggressive forwards, so long as I leave them with a shutout, I've left my mark.

They will throw scuba diving equipment to the ice to ensure we do not choke in the playoffs.

It is always nice to finish first, so I hope we can look back after the season and start believing the curse is not as real as we maybe thought so far. But if we fail to win what we deserve to win - there has to be something to it.

 

Would your player argue with fans on social media?

I will use my secondary accounts to post hateful comments to my main social media accounts, so I can make content out of the hateful messages. I will also send dirty pictures via private messages and continue to rave on how difficult it is to be a professional athlete nowadays.

 

Which team do you think would have the most annoying fans to argue with?

New York. Their fans feel like fancy ivy league rich spoiled people who also like to wear sandals, drink bud light, and listen to Kid Rock. You cant take anything seriously from a person who wears sandals.

 

How would you try to assert yourself with opponents on the ice in our first playoff game?

During the warm up I would skate to the other teams end and shoot a heavy slapshot towards their goalie. I would score, obviously, so then I would aggressively skate to the net to find my puck.  Get the aggression going early on is the right way to go.
