Doomsday 4,130
Trade Details Seattle Bears Receive: S70 MAL 2nd S71 MAL 2nd Malmo Nighthawks Receive RW Dan Wilinsky Analysis Despite winning their second straight Continental Cup in Season 69 (nice), the Seattle Bears enter Season 70 facing many difficult decisions. Their talented young core, featuring Acyd Burn, Joel Ylonen and John Frostbeard, to name a few, are beginning to enter the primes of their careers, and thus, will need to be paid accordingly. For Seattle General Manager Ambrose Stark, this meant saying goodbye to a key piece of their latest championship roster: right wing Dan Wilinsky, their prized free agency acquisition from last off-season. It's an ironic twist, for Wilinsky now heads to Malmo after spurning them for Seattle last season. Does he have enough left in the tank to ride into the sunset with a second straight Continental Cup to end his career? For Lucas Nygren, Malmo's General Manager, he manages to acquire Wilinsky without parting with their first round pick. This leaves them with two fourth round picks to round out their Season 70 draft, and additionally, they currently will not pick until the fourth round in Season 71 either. It might seem a steep price to pay, but the Nighthawks are gunning for the Cup in Season 70 and the addition of Wilinsky is a major boost for Malmo. For Seattle, parting with Wilinsky was difficult, but it sheds his salary in order to help keep the aforementioned young core together and in Bears sweaters. The second round picks will also be quite beneficial as trade pieces or simply to start adding secondary depth to the re-tooling Seattle roster. In my opinion, both teams get exactly what they need, but it could be a bitter pill for Malmo to swallow if they don't come away with the Cup this year. Get-to-Know the Players Dan Wilinsky Drafted 7th overall in the Season 63 VHL Entry Draft by the New York Americans, Dan Wilinsky wasted little time in making himself a centerpiece of the rebuild in the Big Apple. He quickly established himself as a lethal scoring threat, recording thirty goals in his rookie season: a total Wilinsky has surpassed every season of his career. In 503 career games, he has scored 231 goals and recorded 273 points, for a total of 504 points - good for a point per game average for his career. After four seasons in New York and two trips to the playoffs, Wilinsky found himself traded to the defending champion Helsinki Titans in Season 67. All he did was shatter his career bests with 33 goals and 53 assists for 86 points, a +17 rating, 230 hits and the Scott Boulet Trophy as the VHL's top two-way forward. Unfortunately, Wilinsky and the Titans were defeated by the Vancouver Wolves. After his second season in Helsinki, Wilinsky opted to become a free agent for the first time, signing with the Seattle Bears in Season 69 (nice). It was here where he finally became a Continental Cup champion, after a regular season in which he scored 39 goals and tallied 81 points. Now, in his final season, Wilinsky is with the Malmo Nighthawks as they aim to win their first Continental Cup and he seeks to retire as a champion. Does he have enough gas left in the tank to get it done one last time? diamond_ace 3,112
Either even, or Sea by a hair. Wilinsky is a great both player and member, but this is one season. How much can people really expect him to go for? gorlab 4,321
Malmo won if they get a cup with Wilinsky. Seattle won otherwise. I still voted Malmo though. Link to comment https://vhlforum.com/topic/75471-trade-alert-seamal/#findComment-703895 Share on other sites
