literally live in the lockdown zone, it's pretty lame. Super quiet & erie tbh. I'm not worried at all because let's be real he's likely already dead or out of the city or hiding with someone, but yah really crazy.

The whole thing started down the street from where I live.

Apparently for fear of getting struck again the RCMP is not going into the wooded area they believe he is hiding in.

Justin Borne can get bent. I feel for the families and warriors that were lost.

Bourque, but yeah that's the general sentiment around here.

Basically our city is on lockdown. They had established a "Red Zone" they believe the suspect to be in which included Tyler's place, my work and my mom's place. Nobody is allowed in or out of the Red Zone. My apartment is on the other side of town so I've been safe for the most part and settled in after taking care of notifying anyone I knew (which I'm glad I did since mom was out walking the Red Zone when this all started).

Police searched all night (including my dad) and when day broke all local officers were sent home with pay for two weeks. 250 officers from around the country have been flown in to fill the vacancies.

I spent all last night at my apartment (with Tyler's brother and a friend of his, since they were downtown when this started and can't enter the Red Zone to go home). We've since moved from my cramped apartment with no food to my dad's place that was nearby and are holed up here.

Basically as of now there have been 5 officers shot (3 of which are dead) and the police have lost track of the shooter. His identity has been confirmed and the police are searching the city for him. Until then I'm staying at my dad's place with my sister and tag alongs (Dad left the city, he was close with the deceased and is pretty fucked up).

this was probably last night. As of right now they have no idea where he is. Last time there was a confirmed siting was at 730 (I think?) in the morning by Costco lol.

Question: How many cops were there on the scene of the original shootings and how could he possibly run away by foot from the cops, because from what I've heard from news here, he wasn't using a car.

Terrain probably has a lot to do with it though, depending on where he is. From what I gathered about 6-8 cops were present on the initial call out.

They only sent a few cops originally. Remember Moncton isn't the size of Vancouver we only have 200 cops in the city I think, or something close to that. He was able to get the jump on them and killed 3, shot 2. Honestly tho, the street where it all happened on is REALLY long and on the far end there is a wooded area that is easy to escape in to. Plus he could just cut through yards and end up right by the highway and end up in what is basically a forest.

There wasn't much the police could do in this case. It was a guy with military grade hardware and he was able to get a jump on them seeing as he was waiting for them. From what some have speculated, it was sort of an ambush of sorts. He was spotted by Costco which is across the main road from there, and than there were rumors that he was at a house on the main road but when they got there he wasn't there. Speculation is he called the call in and fled while most cops were focused on that house which is right by the "lock down" permiter.

Keep in mind that he has two full auto rifles (among other things) and initial responders would have been carrying service pistols. It's not exactly an easy scenario to contain.

Exactly what Jericho said. Cops were woefully under prepared for a guy decked out in military grade stuff. Awful situation, but so much attention shouldn't be put on the shooter. He's a crazy, to hell with him. He's in the minority of people on this earth. The real attention should be put on the people who gave up their lives and those that are still willing to locate this person and restore some order back to Moncton.

I find it crazy how there are tons of fully trained specialist types in the military who end up doing tons of missions overseas and in other countries when they really 2-4 of those type of men could really be used in this situation. How are police supposed to safely respond to a call from something like this without losses? Anyway I don't want to drag this into a debate about that. Stay safe those in Moncton, and hopefully they catch him soon.

Yep they got him! Big ups to all the RCMP. Amazing this went down peacefully in the end.

Will be interesting to see the psych evaluation of Bourque.

In America he would be deemed as unstable because he's white. Lets see what we do.

I've always found it funny how when a white man shoots up a school or kills a large number of people no one claims terrorism but when a back, latino or arabic person does it (which is super rare) there's never any calls of terrorism.

AFAIK no one in the media here is calling terrorism yet lol.

Way to care if I was alright there Jardy :P

Definitely wasn't as close as Tyler but it was kinda crazy all day. I had to come into work at one point in the afternoon (since they apparently just HAD to get drives to shoot on last night) and it was like a jacking ghost town.

I'm just glad they caught the guy without any further incident.

For those who survived the incident and for those who service our great country each day, thank you for doing what you do. R.I.P to those lost. Moncton, you will recover.
