Welcome everyone to season 74's addition of the Miami Marauder Team Awards. This was a historic season in Miami as the "Waiver Warriors" were born and Miami made an unimaginable run from the 8th seed in the playoffs to win it all. That will lead off the awards as I would like to present the team with the....

Founders Cup

I want to congratulate all of the season 74 members for accomplishing these feat. Winning the Founder's Cup is tough as only one team per season can earn it. Some go on throughout their illustrious careers without ever accomplishing it but this team made the impossible possible and were the first 8th seed team to ever win the Founder's Cup. They knocked off the top two teams this season to make their way into the finals and once they got there they took care of business making quick work of the Mississauga Hounds to achieve the ultimate goal. Congratulations to the season 74 class of the Miami Marauders, you are Founders Cup Champions!

Lebastard Memorial Trophy

The Lebastard Memorial Trophy is award to the player who best exemplifies leadership amongst the Miami roster. This was a tough choice this season as many players on the roster stood out in their own way but it was a collective effort from the entire roster. However we did select one and this years recipient of the Lebastard Memorial Trophy is Rara Rasputin @Victor!!! Rasputin is a long standing member of this league and is a big part of this leadership group. When it came to his time in Miami Rasputin was not the most vocal at first but as the season rolled on and the team started to put it all together he was right there supporting his teammates after each game. Where he led the team the most however was on the ice. He had an incredible season for Miami and came up huge multiple times during the post season. He was the teams MVP most nights and that is why Rara Rasputin is the season 74 Lebastard Memorial Trophy winner.

Dakota Lamb Award

The Dakota Lamb Award is given to the player who leads the team in regular season goals. This season the player who lead the Marauders in goals and will be receiving the Dakota Lamb award is Defensemen Chicken Wing @chikn. The team was quite balanced this season when it came to putting the puck in the net. It was a collective effort by the entire roster to win each and every night but Wing stood above the pack as she buried 29 goals this season from the back end. She was a threat 5 on 5 and on the powerplay where she made teams pay for taking penalties. This is quite the accomplishment for a defensemen to lead their team in goal scoring and I can't wait to see Wing's encore with Miami in season 75.

Kosmo Kramerev Award

The Kramerev Award is given to the top defensemen during the regular season and while we had many good defensemen in Miami this season one stood above the rest for me. The recipient of the Kosmo Kramerev Award for season 74 is non other than Eoin Byrne @LatinViking. Byrne has played in Miami for two separate seasons now in which one he was traded away and the other he was reacquired. Bringing Byrne back for season 74 was a no brainer and Byrne who was Miami's most relied upon defensemen did not disappoint. He led all Miami players in points with 79 which was 10 more than the next player on the list. He played in every situation for Miami being 5on5,  the penalty kill and the powerplay. In tough situations late in the game Byrne was the one Ricer13 called upon to get the job done and Byrne never disappointed. He led this team on and off the ice and that is why Byrne is this season top defensemen.

The Byrne

Speaking of Byrne this very award is named after the guy. He once joined this team as a waiver player and thus created The Byrne which is award to the top waiver player that joined Miami during the regular season. This year was TOUGH to choose this award because we have a TON of waiver players sign up and become active. Hell, we even got branded "The Waiver Warriors" as the waivers who signed were a big reason as to why this team went all the way. I am however only going to select one recipient for this award and that player is Cabe McJake @RedSus. Cabe McJake joined midway through the season but made an impact almost immediately. He worked harder than anyone on the team gaining experience every week. He was the first one to get the team fired up before a big game and was the first one to go absolutely bananalands after a big win. He was also the recipient of the Skylar Rift Trophy for being the playoff MVP. A hell of a season for a promising up and coming player. He joins Miami for season 75 and I would imagine it is going to be another special one.

The "MVM" (Most Valuable Marauder)

This award is one of my favorites because it is an award voted upon by the Marauder's team. The Most Valuable Marauder is our version of a team MVP award and each player and manager has a say in deciding who receives it each season. This season the recipient of the "MVM" as voted on by their peers is Rara Rasputin @Victor. Not a surprise here as Rasputin join the Miami squad early in the season and as the team got better so did Rasputin. He would literally steal games for us that we had no business winning and that spoke volumes to the rest of the team. They knew that they had a goaltender in net that could bail them out when they made mistakes and as a team full of young players many mistakes were made and Rasputin was always there to shut the door. He was an important part of our championship squad and the future is bright for this young tendy.

The BigAL Trophy

Normally this award is given to the player who demonstrates the greatest potential to be a big part of this leagues future and is voted upon by VHLM GM's. We had a busy offseason so I did not want to bother them this season with this vote. So Miami's AGM Zetterberg and myself made the decision as to who will receive the BigAL Trophy and the season 74 recipient will be Addison McClaren @tcookie25. McClaren has been a regular contributor to the VHL since joining the league. Each week completing point tasks and has dipped his toes in other tasks such as Hall of Fame articles. McClaren is also a team first player who is very supportive in the locker room and always put the teams needs ahead of his own. The future is bright for this young player and I am excited to see what he is able to accomplish in the VHL.

Best Graphic

There were only a few graphics to choose from this season and it looks as though a few of them have issues loading but I will spot light a player who made a few during the regular season and that is Vivek Weiner @coochiman. Another young member who has a lot of potential and shows that by creating graphics for the league to see. It demonstrates their activity so that is why I wanted to spotlight this player.

Best Media Spot

The Media Spot of the year goes to Sheldon Juniper@fyrefly. Juniper is one of our forum only players but has done an amazing job staying active using the forums so I wanted to show case some of his work that he has done. He is a great member in this league and I hope remains a regular contributor. Sheldon is a good example that not all players have to use discord to be considered "active" and that if you remain in contact with your forum players they will stay active in this league.

Best Podcast

This season there will not be an award handed out for best podcast. Not many members dip their toes in this task but there have been a few in the past that have like Fishy and Moose. No member of last seasons team made any podcasts so for this season the award remains vacant.

There you have it for another season of Miami Marauder Team Awards. It was a season with many young and promising talents that joined the VHL. Each player worked their asses off to accomplish what they did this season and that is why I like to take a moment to spotlight a few of these players and give them the recognition they deserve as they move on with their VHL careers. Season 75 already looks to be promising for this Miami squad and I can't wait to start writing up the awards for this next season.

I have so much respect for your commitment and passion for your team. I absolutely love the brand and reputation you’ve created for Miami in such a short time, and I think it’s great to see this sort of stuff for new members.

Who knows, maybe it’ll work out so that Nils Tallinder plays here one day ?

Thank you to the team for the MVM votes and Ricer for building the team and also giving me the leadership trophy - lots of great candidates for that one though!

What a season - I'll be sure to check in on future Marauders' progress in the future and of course on how the class of S74 get on in the VHL.

Excellent article! Easy to read and with the way the article is structured. Quick information gatherer on the Miami Marauders but I think you're missing an award. GM of the Year, Ricer13. An award usually given to the GM of the winningest team during the regualr season, but given Rice took Miami to back to back finals, I think it's well deserving. 10/10
