  1. This is our Stanley Cup.
  2. Everyone still loves them some Overwatch, eh? Let's take a break from that. I'm 52 hours in and think I'm only about halfway done with the game, but Persona 5 is GOTY hands down right now. If you like JRPGs, play it right now. If you don't like JRPGs, play it because it definitely changed my mind about them.
  3. Everything I heard was that he was a pretty awesome guy. Obviously he had his demons that he had to deal with, but he also very clearly had a tremendous impact on the people who knew him. There are so many great stories in the movie and even more we weren't able to fit in. One of my favourites that is in the movie is about the doors always being open to his place in Los Feliz. It was just a revolving door of Aussie actors crashing there while they tried to make it in Hollywood, so much so that casting directors started asking, "Are you one of the Aussies that lives at Heath's place" during auditions.
  4. Definitely give Horizon a look. It's sort of like a "best of" of open world action RPG elements, with some of the best combat mechanics I've seen in a while. Absolutely insane visuals and great music too. If you're up for some weirder, Japanese games, check out the following: Gravity Rush 2, NieR Automata, and Persona 5. Of course, Resident Evil 7 is also out if you want to pick up a horror game.
  5. Hm. Well, if you enjoyed The Last of Us then definitely check out Uncharted 4 if you haven't. I'd also recommend Horizon Zero Dawn, it's one of the best games on PS4 and an absolute treat to play. Quality story and great world building throughout as well. If you're familiar with the BioShock or Deus Ex games and enjoyed those, I'd check out Prey. You can download a demo for it on PS4 right now. For that matter, check out Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. That was one of my favourite games last year, really good stuff. I wonder how much you'd be willing to try something a little "weird", I guess, because Japanese developers have had an unreal start to this year and there are some phenomenal games coming out of there.
  6. You looking for a shorter game, or something you can chip away at hour by hour?
  7. Not my job, but I'd totally do it to keep working there haha.
  8. Assistant editor type stuff. Interview string outs, pulling archival clips for the editors, bringing in masters and prepping the project file for colour and audio, outputting clips for permissions/licensing, etc. I essentially did whatever they needed me to do on a given day, within my knowledge of the company's workflow. So I did more the longer I was there, basically.
  9. bruh I'll just go inactive again lol
  10. Hey all. Some of you noticed I popped back in after mostly disappearing over the last two years because of school. Well, here's a payoff for ya. BTW @Kendrick told me to make a thread for this. I'm sure some of you have heard about the documentary I Am Heath Ledger. It premiered at Tribeca last month, had a one night only event screening across the US on May 3rd, is currently playing in select cities in Canada, and opens up across Australia on the 11th. I had the grand opportunity to work on this film for five weeks, and it is my first of hopefully many feature film credits. I'd recommend checking it out in theatres if you can, but if not the 60 minute version airs on Spike on May 17th, or you can be smart and wait for May 22nd when it will air in its entirety on The Movie Network in Canada and release on iTunes. It's worth checking out. Not just because you can watch the credits and be like "HEY I KNOW THAT GUY" when my name shows up. Because Heath was tremendously talented and by all accounts a really awesome dude, and the world lost him way too soon because of an accident. I know I found it very inspiring listening to all the stories being told about him, and even working alongside one of his very good friends and talking to him a bit about Heath... In my mind he's the epitome of "half as long, twice as bright". And for good measure, here's what it looked like to see my name on a big screen for the first time.
  11. We graduated 2012. He went SFU for nearly five years and I fucked around for three before going to BCIT. I totally whored myself out in the movie thread already, but I worked on the new documentary, I Am Heath Ledger.
  12. I was also abusing the gameplay systems to glitch into areas that were supposed to be sealed off in the demo haha. And I'm starting to work in film now, actually.
  13. Livin' life. He graduated from SFU back in December and is relaxing, hanging with his GF, looking for a job. Getting back into the YouTube game too. I'm done in a couple of weeks and think I've got a job locked down.
  14. I take personal offense to not being mentioned.
  15. I played the crap out of that demo, got 8 or so hours out of it. I'm holding off on it and Resi 7 right now, hoping to nab both at a lower price in time for October and Halloween though. NieR was really phenomenal, the combat is fantastic and the narrative was one of the best I've seen in a video game. Very layered, great character development, and it really tries to tackle themes most games would shy away from. I'm stopping by... Thought it'd be nice to show up since someone likes to bug me on Twitter all the time haha.
