  2. Mats Johnsson D Assists Points
  3. Just wait! @Frank will take me 10th overall, and I'll be way better than you're shitty, can't hold a points lead defenceman!

  6. Johnsson finally starting to feel at home in VHLM Star defenceman showing why he is so highly touted. Whitehorse, YT - The VHLM Regular Season is a long one, where teams play 72 games in a group of only 5, that means teams face each other 18 times each in a balanced VHLM schedule. No other league in the world sees such a large percentage of games against the same opponents, and it means that it should get easier to figure out the other teams' strategies the later into the season that it gets. This line of thinking holds true for Yukon Rush defenceman Mats Johnsson, who had everything click 50 games into his VHLM career. After suiting up for just a single playoff game last season, a game 7 loss to the Finalist Las Vegas Aces while still a member of the Oslo Storm, and then an inexplicable benching for the first 4 games of this season (editor's note: all of Yukon's stars were benched as their GM was on a opiate-induced rampage, and unable to coherently form a sentence, much less a line-up) Johnsson managed a respectable first 49 games to his regular season. The star defenceman put up just over a point-per-game, with 9 goals and 42 assists through his first 49 games, good enough for 51 points and a top 5 seating in the league's assist leaders! Respectable numbers for sure, but not numbers that would bring him close to earning full bonuses once the season ends. Since suiting up for his 50th game of the season, however, Johnsson has been a man possessed, posting 8 multi-point games en route to nearly doubling his goal total with 8 in his last 10 games, while assisting on 16 others, to put up an incredible 24 points in his last 10 games, vaulting him out of a battle for 10th, all the way up to 5th, among defensemen in scoring! To put those numbers in context, had Johnsson been playing his full season at this pace, he would sit 2nd in the league goals with 47 (Sergei Komarov - 49), 1st in assists with 94 (Casey Jones - 87) and 1st in the league in points with a whopping 141 (Jones - 120)! If he can play at this pace to close out the season's final 9 games, Johnsson will end the year with 24 goals, 72 assists, and a very impressive 96 points, which, incredibly, is unlikely to push him past any of the 4 defenders ahead of him in points this season! Unfortunately, the individual success hasn't exactly translated into team success. They have been better than their season on a whole, but at just a 5-4-1 pace, that would not be enough to move them out of their current 4th place standing. Instead, fans are left wondering where was this Johnsson earlier in the year, when the team struggled for offence, and can he continue this into the playoffs, where perhaps the struggling Rush might be able to surprise an off-guard opponent and sneak a series win! Until they have those answers, they can just sit back and enjoy the show that is the current hot streak that Johnsson is on.
  7. Wooooo big game for Johnsson, big game for Yukon
  8. Everytime we gain some momentum...
  9. Ayyyy MJ with the big game
  10. Meh, when you consider that the people buying it are going to be the ones with the bankroll to afford that kind of upgrade for ~10-15 games, the stats they'd be maxing would likely already be close to maxed out anyways, or they would be inconsequential things that wouldn't be core attributes. The point is to give incentive to spend, leading to players trying to make the most dollars. I mean, how often do players win an award multiple times? And of those people, how many would want to spend $10M on naming an award? It's a sim league, yeah it's cool to have historic names, but 10 years in, it wouldn't hurt for them to change anyways. It's just another thing to incentivize money in the league, and very few players would have the success and money hoarding combination to actually use it.
  11. Take 2: Another way to encourage player movement So, last week I made my MS about a way to add meaning to finances, in order to encourage player movement through FA. That spot focused mainly on creating an Exceptional Player Status (EPS), which would allow teams to offer contracts greater than the max player contract restrictions, while still needing to be confined within the team Salary Cap. Feedback was mixed, as there was concern about overloading a single player's bank account. Obviously, there could be loopholes that are abused, like a team with just a single active giving that player a $25M contract. And that is a legitimate concern, which could be mitigated by adding restrictions, such as a secondary cap at, let's say, $15M per EPS contract. You could also place a rule that another team needs to offer the player's TPE bracket max before any team can offer an EPS contract, meaning only players who legitimately deserve max money can get it - obviously, if Team A offers Player X $7M, and then Team B offers EPS @ $12M, then Team A would then be allowed to up their offer into EPS status, as long as their cap space allows. Personally, loading a player's bank account is kind of the point though, as it encourages a player to test the market and push for greater earnings. As I stated in the previous thread, improving the player store would be key in starting the market. With no other need for salary, players can take discounts and hoard for their depreciation seasons, which in turn leads to contending teams hoarding the top players with no real need for movement. There was talk about including better options in the store, that would entice players to spend in their early seasons, which would in turn lead to them seeking out higher dollars in contract negotiations. I would also propose that, along with better personal options, you include team based options as well. In real life, teammates in many sports do things that boost team morale, such as buying gadgets for all teammates, to organizing team trips, etc. It might be a good addition to the player store to add options that allow a player to buy a team upgrade package, which teammates would then link to for their "rewards". If I had my say, these would be some of the additions to the player store: Steroids: Player can max one attribute for one week in the sim ($3M/$6M - Regular Season/Playoffs)** Team Bonding: Free Week for all members of player's team ($5M) Team Workout: Three (3) TPE Uncapped for all members of player's team ($5M) Hockey Camp 1: Player adds Two (2) TPE ($1.5M) Hockey Camp 2: Player adds Five (5) TPE ($3M) Hockey Camp 3: Player adds Twelve (12) TPE ($5M) **Would require the sim to be updated weekly I would also add something like: Forever Remembered: Player can re-name a trophy after winning it more than once in their career ($10M) That last one is not something that would be bought often, considering how much it would cost and how often players do win trophies multiple times, but could be a cool way to let people add their names into the history books even after they retire their players. Just an idea. Anyway, that's pretty much my whole plan on making money matter in the league. Give people something to actually spend it on, and they might actually seek it out.
  12. Yeah, like the other guys said, remove some of the blur from the face, add a touch of lighting, and maybe move the text down a couple of layers and this is mint

  14. Hahah I love that that's how you described him!
