  1. Effort: 1.5/2 - Meh, it's a render, some lighting, text and a couple stocks mostly just thrown in, no work at making anything work here... Look: 1.5/2 - Again, it looks very thrown together, the render is a bit washed out, and the text is poor. Creativity: 1/1 - Sure? Overall: 4/6
  2. Well, don't you think that if you're gonna sim, you might want to let teams know before hand incase this comes up? Goddamit sterling, I thought you were cool!
  3. It's not your fault coach. Half an inch to the left and it's off the post!
  4. Eight games in, Davos coach still finding his feet Fong adjusting to instructing, rather than scoring By: Fabian Hertzmann Davos, SWITZERLAND - The season is still extremely young, not even ten-percent of the way through, so the incredibly inexperienced Swiss team can be forgiven for any mishaps through the games they have played. Indeed, the Davos Dynamo have skated their way to a 4-4 record through 8 games, and have been a team with very volatile results. One would only need to look at the team's first to games to notice that this season very well could become a tale of Jekyl & Hyde for the young Dynamo, as they get their feet wet both on the ice and behind the bench where they have employed a rookie coach to lead a cast that includes no fewer than five rookies on its roster! Both of their opening games ended with scores of 6-2, with Davos overcoming the Seattle Bears before losing to one of the Continental Cup favourites, the Calgary Wranglers. Behind the bench, rookie coach Terrence Fong is getting his first taste on the other side of things, as he returns to Davos after starring for the team several years ago. He has been given what some may call a shitty deal, as he comes to a team high in expectations, but low in experience with only two players having more than 150 games of VHL experience coming into the season. Having to rely on four rookie skaters and a highly-touted, but also rookie, goaltender means that there will be a lot of learning on the job as the season plays out, both for the players and the coach. As is any coach's job, Fong is expected to win games, but he is also expected to push these youngsters and have a helping hand in developing them into the potential stars that they can be. Such is no easy task, especially when he has been handed a roster with only three defencemen, two of whom had yet to skate in the VHL. Terrence Fong tries to seduce our female photographer "It's difficult. The guys want to win, but they're still young and many are still playing an individual game. Especially when guys are young and not quite as good as the average VHLer, you have to play a team game, an almost ugly game and rely on the unit to get results. Right now we're not seeing that, but it's still early, and these guys have a ton of skill! It won't be long before I get my system in place and we start seeing more cohesion out there, and hopefully some more support for Lenny (Lennox Moher); we've kinda left him out to dry in some of these games." - Terrence Fong on his team's start. As for the players, they know that their defensive efforts have been lacking. While they have scored the second most goals in the conference at 24 (one behind Vasteras), they have also given up a conference worst 31 (tied with the Riga Reign)! Captain Matteo Gallo, another rookie who is starting to heat up offensively (currently tied for the lead in rookie scoring with 10 points - his five goals lead all rookies), made note of this in his latest post-practice scrum: "I think we all know that we are kind of up against it when it comes to playing other teams. Some of these guys have been together for three, four years. What we cannot do is expect our offensive to bail us out every games. We need to be better for Lenny, who has nothing to hang his head about, we have to prevent some of those scoring chances. He can stop the first and second shots on most occasions, but when guys are hacking three, four, five shots at him we cannot ask him to make all those saves!" Only time will tell how this team will adjust, but one thing is for sure: with all the young skilled players they possess, they will be fun to watch for years to come. It will take time for them to get to know one another's tendencies and adopt the coaching staff's systems, but they are a fun bunch to watch, for better or worse right now, sooner or later, that will shine through!
  5. Effort: 2/2 - Yessir Look: 2.75/2 - Lot less choppy than the other one, like coach said the face is a bit awkward looking with that stock/lighting Creativity: 1/1 - Yep yep yep OVERALL: 5.75/6 >>> 6/6
  6. Effort: 2/2 - Definitely, it's always tough when you're not using a single render to focus on Look: 2.5/2 - A few little things that I think could make this better. First there's the asymmetry between the top and bottom of the logo, I feel like you could crop the bottom of the whole sig a bit more so that the space above the logo is a bit closer to the space below. Also, it just feels a bit flat, I would like to see how this would look if the players popped a bit more. Creativity: 1/1 - For sure Overall: 5.5/6
  7. Effort: 2/2 - I think so Look: 2.5/3 - I like it, I just think the canvas is a bit big. I'd move the render down about 10px and cut the top 10 off as well as everything below where the left thumb is now. Also, the text is alright, I do think it could be a bit tighter to the render, possibly even being overlapped by it a bit, but that just might be my own personal preference kicking in Creativity: 1/1 - Yup Overall: 5.5/6
  8. Effort: 2/2 - Easily Look: 2.75/3 - It's really cool, I love gif sigs, but it's just a bit rough around the edges. The render and text are really over-sharpened which kind of hurts the overall appeal of it. Still, good job! Creativity: 1/1 - GIF SIGS! Overall: 5.75/6
  9. Effort: 1.5/2 - Agree, it's pretty much render, a couple lighting brushes and a couple speckle stocks... Look: 2.25/2 - Not feeling this too much. The white specks are weird and the text isn't very good imo either. Get rid of the bg render and add some more depth and it's a lot better. Creativity: 1/1 OVERALL: 4.75/6 >>> 5/6

  11. I know ... blame the GM! Maybe try different strategies? T'was more an observation than a condemnation
  12. Effort: 2/2 - Yes ma'am Look: 2/3 - Sorry, not as much a fan of this one. The BG as is is just too sharp, if it were blended better/had some more stocks above it to kinda tone it down a bit, it'd be a lot better. Not a fan of the text or white jersey either. The render's head has some good effects/lighting to it, and shows that you could definitely improve on this Creativity: 1/1 OVERALL: 5/6
  13. Effort: 2/2 - Not really, but I'm feeling generous because of how bad I'm gonna grade the look! Look: 2.75/3 - I think I graded this on the old site, I loved it except the change text and that hasn't changed (see what I did there? I'm so funny sometimes) Creativity: 1/1 - Be the change! OVERALL: 5.75/6 >>> 6/6
  14. Effort: 2/2 - Ok Look: 2.75/3 - Pretty much the same complaint, text is not near the level of the rest of the sig Creativity: 1/1 OVERALL: 5.75/6 >>> 6/6
  15. Effort: 2/2 - Very much Look: 2.75/3 - It's a little over-sharpened for me, especially the text, otherwise it's the bomb diggity Creativity: 1/1 - Indeed OVERALL: 5.75/6 >>> 6/6
  16. Effort: 2/2 - Yup Look: 2.75/3 - I agree, I would remove the BG render's shoulder on the right of the sig, and I don't like the text. Rest looks nice. Creativity: 1/1 OVERALL: 5.75/6 >>> 6/6
  17. Effort: 2/2 - Looks about right Look: 2.5/3 - It's solid, but the text is very generic and "meh", and I don't like how it looks like the render's getting swallowed up by a BG monster, the blending is too linear for me Creativity: 1/1 - BG monsters ftw in creativity OVERALL: 5.5/6 >>> 6/6
  18. Effort: 2/2 - Maybe? Look: 3/3 - I think the text could be improved and maybe the lighting/colour could be stronger, but it's still good enough methinks Creativity: 1/1 - Sure OVERALL: 6/6
  19. Effort: 2/2 - There's enough done to get the points Look: 2/3 - Not digging the scanlines/pockets you got going in the mid-ground, the text isn't very good and the render is very washed out. Could also do with something a bit more solid instead of the lighting around his midsection. Creativity: 1/1 OVERALL: 5/6
  20. Effort: 2/2 - Same old coach, always trying so hard...why can't you match this effort in games! Look: 2.75/2 - It's good, it's just that I'm not digging the blurry jungle in the bg too much. Maybe I'm nitpicking but it's not a 3 for me Creativity: 1/1 Overall: 5.75/6
  21. Breakout performance! 'Grats on the first goal to the duster Bentley Gotta shore up PK tho
  22. If one of you beaut's could make me a Gallo sig to use for this season, that'd be lovely Any of Kessel, Morgan Rielly, Duchene, Landeskog, Drouin, or Toews would be cool
