  1. ^^^ @Beketov and I (and @Will) aren’t here to screw anyone over. When we came up with the punishment (through the BOG, so not just us) it was with the hope that it would be a deterrent to overplaying starters, not a hope that we could gleefully hand out punishment that will affect teams. The rules in place now are harsh for a reason, and everyone was apprised of the consequences should they break them. Like I’ve said, I can understand frustration in being hit with the penalty, but it’s not like people weren’t warned, or that the players on the teams couldn’t have kept track as well. Are we supposed to turn a blind eye, literally the first season after the rules were clarified? At the end of the day, this isn’t anyone’s full time job, so of course there won’t be a “perfect world” scenario in most situations - there rarely is. All we can do is try to find the best balance we can. So, rather than complaining about how unfair the punishment is, the solution is simple: don’t get to a point where punishment needs to be doled out.
  2. I mean, most rules regarding punishment have gray area. If you box yourself in by making it completely black and white then there is no room to adjust for extenuating circumstances. That’s not to say that cases will be treated differently, but that obviously there can be special cases that require more or less punishment than the norm. For example, if Beaviss or myself were to screw up again next season, it’s entirely possible that more than just playoff games are the punishment. At at the end of the day, GMs all knew that if you made the playoffs and broke the rules, this would be the punishment. It’s not even like it was inconsistent, I suffered the same fate, and I’m a commissioner. As much as Arthur may want to believe the punishment isn’t laid out clearly, his GM knew the consequences and while Beaviss thought he met the minimum, it was easy enough to verify before the end of the season.
  3. Chat that ? my friend, you see your picture, I see the full picture
  4. No need for hostility. Again, it was understood that playoff teams would be punished with playoff games. Non-playoff teams with picks/cap space. No situation is black and white, however, so the rule allows harsher punishment if the situation calls for it. As it is, the punishment lined up exactly as was expected. If you hate the rule, make sure you sit the required amount of games next season.
  5. With the rule, it was understood from last off-season that this would happen. Beaviss even hired an AGM, who could have made sure. Hell, you yourself could have kept track, same as Sonnet did with his own starts and reminded me when we were getting close to the end of the season (my screw up came with changing lines for the last sim, and accidentally overwriting the backup goalie game). Say what you will about the rule, but there was nothing unclear about any playoff team failing to meet requirements having to start a backup in the playoffs, and your team is the reason these rules came into existence lol. As for the series, there’s no way you or I can say that you definitely would have changed the series. If you want to believe that, that’s fine. But, as you said, anything is anyone’s game with STHS, so it’s also possible you would have been blown out had you started. We don’t know, we never will, and it’s not the league’s fault for that. No matter how much you wish to gripe, and I understand your anger with the situation, the rules are in place, understood, and for whatever reason, they were broken, so Quebec has to deal with the consequences. Going forward, I’m hopeful that neither Beaviss or myself make the same mistake and have to put this on you or Sonnet again, nor any other GM/goalie combination. The rules are clear, and will clearly be enforced, no matter who you are...
  6. You guys gave up what, 3 goals in 2 games? Sure, you may have made a difference in the series, but it’s pretty unlikely when Que G posted fairly insane stats. Whether you agree or not, it’s not rare for lesser players to play above their heads, especially in single games. Either way, the loss is on your offence not clicking, which happens.
  7. Honestly, STHS gets fucky with that sometimes lol. You have players who turn it up to god mode in the playoffs, and then others who are regular season gods that end up sucking balls in the playoffs. While it may be surprising that we’re up 3-1, it’s not like our team is trash and doesn’t have the ponies to go toe-to-toe with anyone. After our rough start, we finished pretty much as strong as any team in the league.
  8. @Arthur I totally understand your frustration but this is something that was discussed before, and @Beaviss was fully a part of the conversation when deciding the punishment. GMs are aware that if you make the playoffs, a failure to start a second goalie means the second goalie will make up those games in the playoffs. The other language is in case a team that misses the playoffs fails to meet the requirements, they aren’t getting off without any punishment, or if there’s repeat offences (which, this is the second straight season Quebec has failed to meet the minimum) As much as it sucks that you missed the games, at the end of the day it wasn’t the difference in the series. Unless you were going to post 2 shutouts, goaltending wasn’t even the problem. Hell, I was hit with the same punishment and @Sonnet wasn’t allowed to start our first game against Riga...
  9. The hero they needed, not the one they deserved
  10. Haha the 50 was also to prevent someone from creating, retiring and getting 1 free tpe for it lol
  11. @Beaviss doing his best to give the game back in the 3rd ? Lets gooooo boys
  12. Looks like we have ourselves a good old fashioned series boys
  13. @Devise should the index not be updated? Just from looking at Bailey, it’s been a while since he’s been updated in sim. Also, @Sonnet
  14. @Will can you ping @Sonnet when the playoff index goes up. He’s going to submit Helsinki’s lines.
  15. Helsinki Titans Press Conference Week Ending: February 10th, 2019 The playoffs are set, and you are facing Riga, without Pepper in Game 1. How do you overcome this obstacle? The league installed the Keaton Louth rule this season, to dissuade teams from overplaying their starters. Do you think it's a fair rule? Last week was the coldest week of the winter, how did you manage to stay warm? Who do you think will be the team's X-factor in these playoffs? The Wild-Card matchup sees Toronto facing Quebec, which team do you think will advance to the Final Four? Were you one of the millions to watch the Super Bowl this past Sunday? How did you enjoy the game, and were you expecting Adam Levine to take his pants off during the half-time show? @BarzalGoat @DaftRaincloud @Quik @Jubo07 @BOOM™ @joeyboucher1 @SidTheKid87@monkeywrench15 @Sonnet @BBNAT @Jtww @Hybrid1486 @Sohva @bagelbitesisbae @leafsman @Joobles@Beaviss @BluObieZ @Tyler
  16. The VHL's 64th annual Continental Cup tournament is about to begin, and for the Helsinki Titans, it looks like it will be without their MVP this season, goaltender Alexander Pepper. In a shocking announcement, the league has announced that, under the Keaton Louth rule, both the Titans, and the soon to be relocated Quebec Meute, will have to sit their starters for games in the playoffs. While that is the official ruling, there are murmurs out of Finland that, at least with the Titans situation, things may not be so cut and dry. Prior to the team's final game, HSK G was set to start the team's 72nd game, making his required 8th start of the season. Once the puck was dropped however, General Manager/Head Coach Matt Bailey was surprised to see Pepper between the pipes. With him being there for the initial face-off, there was nothing he could do to change his team's fate, so he left the star in net. Here's where things get weird: making his 65th start, the Las Vegas native put his Goals-Against-Average in harms way, as he was looking to pass Tristan Iseult and finish in the top 3 for GAA this season. Many feel that the real reason he is being suspended from starting this game is that he may have put money on the game, breaking the league's gambling rules. It is doubtful the full story will ever come out, but the fact is the Titans will face the daunting task of being shorthanded against the Riga Reign, the favourites of many to win the Continental Cup. @Sonnet
  17. Lol I completely forgot I sent that question. But yeah, “ctrl-f” on “4-3” was all you needed.
  18. Someone re-dimmed that game...?
