  1. Yeah Jardy that is the way we have done it for a while. It has worked fine in this format, it just provides GM's an opportunity to vote for a candidate that may not be deserving in some cases. We on the BoG, and the Blue Team usually winds up leaving a "less than worthy" candidate on the ballot in some cases due to either lack of fitting candidates and or as a minor acknowledgement. In the case of Denis, him being included would of been one of those. A nomination for his good stats in the first round, while acknowledging that alone doesn't really make you qualified to win MVP. The issue is though every now and then, once every so often seasons we leave someone on and GM's don't pay attention to who they are voting for and just vote. It can create near split votes where someone unqualified wins the award. So really our only solution to that is to lower the ballot, however in some cases it's clear that one person has won the award and you can't just put one person on a ballot for an award. We've had that with top D a couple times. Usually, GM"s justify their logic and we see a 10-0 split in some of those cases. The other issue with limiting the ballot is it feels like we are then determining award winners, when GM"s are supposed to have some power in their voting. It's kind of a catch 22 with that honestly, where there will be consequences either way we do it. The reality is though we need GM's who actually care about award voting, especially awards like playoff MVP which actually can make or break hall of fame careers as that is a legit award worthy of consideration. Handing out those type of awards falsely can have an effect.
  2. Sure, the argument was how biased Eagles was with his ballot. The five other people that voted Tyler clearly looked at the stats and nothing more. Anyone who did any serious research (I know you can see a good number of ballots in the BoG voting where one CGY player was selected as a "hey sure you had a good first round) would of realized that it was stat boosting in the first round as to why they had such high numbers. I'm not saying Calgary didn't have a strong season, they made the finals. But they lost in five. They won a single game in the finals. There really isn't any justification for them to be winning Playoff MVP honestly.
  3. Also, congrats to the other, legit winners. O'Malley really is legend, another dominating season. Some tight awards here too, I thought Klose would get a few more votes for the Boulet, but Karnage is still a solid candidate for the award.
  4. Yeah it's one of the reasons I dislike a cramped off-season with World Cup stuff. I'd like to just focus on WC for a week honestly. Maybe even have a longer round robin. Also Victor, I had you set to play more games than you did. I put you in for like 4, of the Round Robin games, however must of been an issue with when I sent the lines because you only ended up playing the 1. My apologies.
  5. Come on it was one post. Give us some room to breath. Just because we aren't as much of an antique as you doesn't mean we can't reminisce on our league memoires.
  6. Many apologies, updating Tuesday.
  7. I set you to play a few more, but I can double check make sure you get minutes.
  8. From Streetlights era, to my brief stint to ADV New York has been a very good franchise. While the Cup wins didn't come till later, the amount of successful seasons, good playoff runs, finals appearances, Hall of Fame players and award winners the franchise gained was pretty impressive. Ironic now that as YEAH takes over the previous 3 GMs are all on the roster. I know for me despite time on several teams, other than my brief phase with pushing to see expansion cup wins I've always felt like NY was my team. Part of that is due to Streetlight giving me such a good impression and sense of team especially so early in my VHL career. The other is to see a good friend take a strong team that finally won a Cup into a near dynasty machine. Advantage you did a great job, certainly a fantastic tenure.
  9. 3 Way you say? Somebody quick.....find Noah!
  10. My greatest regret as GM was not trusting my instincts with both you and O'Malley. I was so afraid of "losing value" that I quickly traded you, and him, at the first opportune times. While you weren't as big of a award winner you still had a solid career and you have to be the frontrunner for the Labatte this season. Good luck with the next one sir, was fun GMing Richardson for a portion.
  11. Enjoy Seattle bud. Tough with so much FA and so little cap. Have a great final season!
  12. Green! Honored to play with O'Malley for his final season.
  13. Top team in the tourney. Just how we do!
  14. Retired bio's, neat idea to do it after the career, and focus on the career!
  15. As I am taking over for YEAH on this, expect to have S47 balances updated by Sunday. Thanks.
  16. The Helsinki Titans have finally broken the repeat curse, and with it comes the off-season, the World Cup festivities, awards....and of course free agency. Free agency in the VHL is often one of the most inconsistent events to follow. Some seasons, you get a few large big names and where they go can end up determining the outcome of a teams fate, even so far as to help them win a Continental Cup. Others, you have few names, lots of inactives, and it can go by without very little drama or intrigue. Luckily for everyone the upcoming free agency looks like it will be a more notable one. Bismarck Koenig, Thomas O'Malley, Mason Richardson, Christoph Klose all appear headed to free agency. That is on top of what will likely be some middle tier inactives who some teams simply cannot afford to keep around salary cap wise, that will likely end up in the hands of free agency. Names like Stropko, Poole and Cote could be among those. However the big four, have nearly immediate impact value on any team they decide to go to. It is likely that all four will be looking for homes with teams that have a chance at a Cup, and likely that at least two of the same players wind up on the same team. Interesting to note with the exception of Koenig, there will be a decent number of pending free agents from the Season 40 glass, so they will be testing the FA in the final season of their careers. Don't be surprised to see a few shockers, in what could be a exciting free agency upcoming.
  17. Interesting deal, I thought Jardy would be future goalie of COL.
  18. These are great features YEAH! If there ever was an argument to instate a permanent World Cup Commissioner, you make that argument very well with how you've run this thing. And I'm not just saying this since your my GM, someone I consider a friend, and an awesome member. Everyone knows these features are very cool, and help keep the World Cup in focus during the off-season.
  19. Aaand, lines sent in for us. Thanks for waiting Higgins!
  20. I'm heading out to dinner here, I'll do them when I get back.
  21. Sure, but I still say that having Rylo go through similar things as Anakin, even as a "Vader fanboy" is the safest and honestly most boring route they could of taken. Again, same goes with the Death Star stuff. Seeing another Empire fail to use ridiculous large tactics against what still amounts to pockets of small resistance is annoying. They try to sell like these guys have great tacticians, but they have never demonstrated that ability. If anything, during Ep1-3 the then Republic displays way smarter tactics and abilities, especially during the Clone Wars. Good way to win a war? Make force users generals and send them in on the front line with your soldiers. They are only worth about 1000+ troops each. To your final point though I agree. I don't think A New Hope takes second, for me that is still Ep 3. A New Hope for me remains one of the most overrated pieces of cinema in history. It has a boring main character that subscribes to literally every single main character cliche, it's a film saved by it's iconic setting, it's amazing secondary characters, and it's ability to start exploring and setting up a new universe. But I find some of the worse parts of it just as boring and frustrating as elements of Phanton Menace. But we all agree Empire is king, it's probably a perfect movie. However as far as I'm concerned Clone Wars the animated series once it got off the kiddy droid humor and matured in the 2nd season and forward is the best piece of Star Wars content that exists. KOTOR is up there as well. I also caught the nods to it, even Kylo and his attire has some influence from Darth Revan.
  22. Yeah give me till a bit later and I'll get some lines in.
  23. Great job on the jersey's and graphics Boom. Congrats to Fong and Slaughter, fantastic careers on a fantastic team. Era by era this league continues to amaze me sometimes.
