  1. I won't sign with you.
  2. I'm no Ronaldo fanboy, and I hate both clubs he's played for since leaving Portugal, but what Knight said basically. People complain about Portugal being about Ronaldo and then make their victory all about Ronaldo anyway. Talk about discrediting the team's achievement. Not to mention nothing in his behaviour in the final deserved any criticism unless you wanted it to fit your narrative. Although to be fair I still hate the fact that Portugal won. Or that France were in the final.
  3. No wait I voted Parechkin. Fuck Draper.
  4. I mean I voted for myself but both awards could either way. Or I guess Molholt could get both now. I'd be happy with the Shaw tbh.
  5. The PT distinction might be unnecessary - you can't claim the same PT twice anyway since it'll say Claimed.
  6. Pre-seask retirement on a Sunday? Why not Monday?
  7. This agency. Never been to free agency in all 40 seasons.

  9. In a decision brewing for several weeks, Quebec City Meute goaltender and S49 Shaw Trophy winner-elect used the downtime after the Game 5 loss to Toronto to announce his intention to test free agency after S50 to his locker room. Today, this decision has been made public. "This agency has never tested free agency in the VHL before and this was expected to stay the same as I had plans to spend the rest of my career in Helsinki. However, I was placed in a position where I essentially either needed to become GM of Helsinki or be traded to Quebec, neither of which particularly appealed to me although Quebec was definitely the easier option. "The first season has certainly exceeded expectations and has been hugely successful on a personal and team level. We are all hoping to build on this in S50, however at that point it is very possible that this collaboration between Greg Clegane and the Meute will come to an end. I feel no loyalty to Quebec and although the locker room has been enjoyable this seems to be the perfect opportunity to finally become a free agent which I will do at the conclusion of my contract at the end of S50. "No negotiations in regards to extending the current contract will be entered until free agency, although it is possible that I will stay in Quebec in S51: however this will be decided after assessing all options in the market, however numerous. "In the meantime it has come to my attention that most of this quote was completely out of character so I will go smash some peasants' heads in and/or do my cool zombie glare through the helmet. See you next off-season!"
  10. Phil 49 seasons isn't a half-century. Congrats again Toronto, although I'm not sure why people are writing it off as a huge surprise. Just a reasonable achievement for the best team in the league.
  11. You're all a little pathetic really.
  12. Better Call Joel
  13. So many 1 goal wins. oh well, we overachieved in getting this far. Congratulations Been, great season and deserving winners.
  14. You answered Calgary instead of NY.
  15. well yeah, but not by much. I meant more that 5 out of 7 is a good result.

  17. Answers for Week 5, the last week of S49 which of course was worth double. PART A 1. Who was the last goalie to be taken first overall? (Credit to Bojo) ANSWER: Niklaus Mikaelson back in S41. Sinclair, G. Clegane, and Zhumbayev have gone 2nd since then and Wingate was drafted 3rd for some reason. 2. How many cities have won the Victory Cup? (Credit to sterling) ANSWER: Twelve. Calgary, New York, Toronto, Seattle, Quebec, Davos, Helsinki, Riga, and Stockholm have been regular season champions. Davos also won in Avangard in S7, while Stockholm won in both Vasteras and Madrid. Cologne has never won the Victory Cup. 3. Who has the all-time highest save percentage in the playoffs (minimum of 10 games played)? (Credit to Phil) ANSWER: S8 playoff hero Travis Willcox has a .938 save percentage from his only playoff season (13 games in a finals loss with Riga). 4. How many players have won the VHLM MVP award more than once? (Credit to solas) ANSWER: Two, early days legend Tyler Vassell (S7 and S9 MVP), followed by the creatively named Zach Parise (S12 and S13). The dark days when inactives ruled the VHLM. PART B What is the longest playoff drought in VHL history and how many seasons did it last? ANSWER: Hamilton made the playoffs in S4 and then waited 7 seasons until New York did the same in S12. This was almost matched by a 6-season run by Vasteras from S19 to S24, but remains the record, which looks particularly stark in comparison to the Americans' recent success. 2 capped TPE goes to: Beketov CowboyinAmerica der meister DollarAndADream gorlab Green JardyB10 Phil solas sterling Streetlight TheLastOlympian07 Tylar Velevra Higgins 1 capped TPE goes to: bukss_a Kendrick 1 uncapped TPE goes to: Bojo sterling Phil solas FINAL LEADERBOARD AND TPE PAYOUT (uncapped): 5 TPE: CowboyinAmerica - 12 der meister - 12 DollarAndADream - 12 Phil - 12 Streetlight - 12 Tylar - 12 Velevra - 12 solas - 11 4 TPE: Beketov - 10 Green - 10 sterling - 10 TheLastOlympian07 - 10 gorlab - 9 3 TPE: JardyB10 - 8 bukss_a - 6 Dangles13 - 6 Kendrick - 6 2 TPE: boom - 5 svb - 4 1 TPE: Draper - 2 fever95 - 2 hedgehog337 - 2 STZ - 2 Higgins - 2 Molholt - 1 I will see you all at the start of S50!
  18. 5 + Virtanen is pretty good tbh considering the draft literally had 7 players. Better actives proportion than most drafts I'd guess.
  19. It doesn't.
  20. I don't do little things.
  21. Fuck S30-S35 Calgary's trophy case. Into the top 10 now, any predictions of the order?
  22. it's OK I have no illusions after I found out about you and @solas
