In order to stay in the VHLM, you can't put more than 175 tpe into your attributes, as once you go past 175 tpe you bank your tpe. In order to stay down in the VHLM, you can't have more than 200 tpe before the season starts. However, once the seasons begins you can go past 200 tpe, you just have to keep banking your tpe.

Getting drafted is just one step in  hockey players career but as we quite often see , it´s a important step. Very rarely you see players coming undrafted and making it to the top. Draft number does not automatically mean you will make it , that´s when the real work starts.  First round pressure and the expectations will be too much for some players. They just don´t have the passion and dedication in them so they could live up to the hype that first round players quite often get.   Later round picks can train without too much pressure from the media and from the fans. At the end of the day , draft number is just a number. It´s what you do after the draft that matters.

We met Ottawa Lynx forward Jorma Ruutu,  who is getting ready to be drafted into the VHL.   Hello Jorma! How are you ?   Ruutu: Morning! Everything going just fine. I´ve been working really hard for few months now. Nothing like back in Finland. This has been the hardest  i have ever worked out. Hopefully the scouts who have been watching me play have noticed that too and it all pays off in the draft.   Are you excited about the draft?   Ruutu: For sure! This is what we train for. When i moved from Finland to Ottawa , that was the first real moment when i noticed that i could be drafted.  Ever since i´ve done my absolute best in the practice. On and off the ice.   Any idea what round you will be picked?   Ruutu: I must be totally honest with you , i have no idea. I´ve been watching some of the rankings but it´s hard to say really. Getting drafted is the dream but if everything goes really well , i might be a first round pick. That would be awesome but that´s purely from the rankings and rumours i´ve been hearing lately. Draft day is a special day. Anything can happen.     What is your favorite team in VHL?   Ruutu: I don´t really have one.  I just like to watch and play hockey. Whatever team decides to pick me , i´m more than happy to play in that team and do my best. I still have a long way to go before i get to show what i can do in the big league. Slowly and steadily making progress is the key to success.    Hectic week coming up?   Ruutu: Looks like that.  Luckily i´m not a top 5 pick , those guys really have to do lot´s of interviews and stuff like that. On the go all day long. I can still walk around Ottawa without anybody knowing who i am. One of the perks of being somewhat unknown player.  I´ve been thinking of getting a tattoo just before the draft so i can stand there and show my brand new tattoo. Not sure where i´m going to get it but some kind dragon related graphic has been on my mind lately. We shall see if i´m going to get it now , or some point next season.   Thanks for the interview Jorma , Good luck in the draft!

The Ottawa Lynx had an amazing season this year. Although they did not bring the cup back with them to Ottawa they still came back happy. Looking back it started out slow with a group of guys not knowing anything about each other. After a few long weeks, real time, they started to get comfortable being around one another. A brotherhood was made. The team knew that being individual meat heads would not get them far, so instead they grew a strong army that was hungry.  The results to this act was beautiful. The Ottawa Lynx went on a huge winning streak.

For the first half of the season Frank was the general manager. Frank had a very strong and positive energy always buzzing in the locker room. Players were always in there talking to each other, and helping each other out around the boards. Unfortunately Frank had a lot going on in the real world, it was a bummer but very understandable. The Lynx players said their good byes and thanked Frank for drafting them and being such an amazing person. When Frank left he was replaced with the all high and mighty banning machine Sterling. The Ottawa Lynx players did not know how it would be with anyone else leading their charge. They were nervous, even scared. After awhile things started going great, they were done differently, but it was still great to be playing for the organization. Sterling hired Mr. Escabar has the Ottawa Lynx assistant general manager shortly after.

Nearing the end of the regular season the Lynx were sitting in a playoff spot comfortably. With this being so, Sterling made a very nice choice that helped his team out. The Ottawa Lynx switched around their lines to give the more quiet players a chance to get their stats up so they could get a nice achievement tracker reward. Sterling was really good with looking after all the player on his team.

With the playoffs starting the players were getting very excited. They were going up against the Minot Gladiators in the first round. The Gladiators had a very good team. Leading the team in scoring Vogan Jeltz and the brick wall Hans Wingate. The Ottawa Lynx knew the battle would not be easy. A lot of practice was prepared for the series. When the series finally started it was exactly what the Lynx expected. The series bounced back and forth. Each team took turns winning every other game. The series was pushed all the way to game seven. The VHLM had the game scheduled two days later from game six so both teams were well rested and ready to give it their all.  Game seven finally arrived on April 10th, 2015. It was a very good game from start to finish. Both teams fought until the very end. Unfortunately the Gladiators beat the Ottawa Lynx out of the playoffs. Forcing them to get their golf clubs out until the start of the next season.

With the VHL draft now around the corner the Ottawa Lynx players have their head held very high as the biggest night of their lives is coming up. This night will debate where some of them will be playing next season and where some will be the following season.

"I Personally want to thank the Ottawa Lynx organization for such a great year and all the crazy adventure"  - Pablo Escabar

The following events took place in front of Ottawa Lynx´s bus little while ago. The team was getting ready to drive back home after a tough away game. Few of the Lynx players were still handing out some autographs.  Duddy and Escabar attracting most of the female fans.

I was there signing some shirts and stuff right next to them, all of a sudden i feel something behind me. It was a girl, she walked in front of me, grabbed my head and started to lick and kiss it. I didn´t know what to do so i screamed the security to come over and take her away.

I felt so violated. She was too fast and agile. I think she thought i was Duddy or Escabar. I mean we all look the same from behind and it was quite dark outside. She noticed my mustache too late , the security was all over her by then. The look on her face told it all , she wanted Duddy or Escabar instead of me.

The Top General Manager award is given out to the VHLM manager that best serves his team. Winning is a big part in choosing the best VHLM GM each season, but winning is usually a symptom of a good developmental system within the locker room. Promoting activity within your team, leading by example, teaching first generation players and building a competitive team are all goals of successful VHLM general managers.

Today I am here to announce that the VHLM Top General Manager award has been renamed to the Jack Reilly Trophy in honor of Coach. Coach played a major role in the VHLM from Season 18 until Season 28 as the General Manager of the Saskatoon Wild. During his time as the GM of Saskatoon he won 3 Founder's Cups and 3 Top GM Awards in S24, S25 and S28. He has gone down in history as one of the longest serving VHLM managers and one of the most successful in terms of winning and promoting locker room activity.

Stay tuned for more VHLM Award name changes.
