San Diego Marlins Press Conference Week of 5/28/2023

    1. Obviously we did not get the final result we wanted, but what a season it was. What are your final thoughts on the S88 San Diego Marlins season?
    2. How do you feel about your players performance in the S88 season and playoffs?
    3. What are you hoping to improve about your player in S89?
    4. What is the next step for your player? VHLM again, moving up the VHLE, VHL?
    5. How was your experience in S88 with the San Diego Marlins locker room?
    6. Any plans in real life as we await the off-season and have a few weeks off until S89?
  2. Cheers

    1. Well, despite not being able to get the cup and all, I still think the team did spetacularly this season, and our captains were great leaders. Let's try to keep up the good work and get into the playoffs next season!
    2. I suppose my overall performance wasn't too bad. A little lower compared to last season, but I'm sure I can improve if I keep training.
    3. A lot of stuff, but I'm gonna focus on turning myself into a two-way player, so that I can help out the defense in case they need backup.
    4. For now I will stay in VHLM, but I'm considering moving up a league in the future. (That is, if I can impress the scouts...)
    5. It felt great to be back in the "shoal" once again, for a lack of better words. My colleagues are cool, the GM's (?) are nice, and I guess I felt more confortable playing in the Marlins jersey. (Not that playing with the Reapers or the Lynx was bad)
    6. Well, I'm gonna have a month-off of school, actually, though I don't really know what I'm gonna do during that time...Maybe check out some online games or something. (preferably sports ones)

    1. It was a great run we went on. We really jellied as a team. I am proud of what we were able to accomplish.
    2. Surpassed my best expectations. Coming back I didn't know what to expect. Almost 30 goals is the regular season and a 6 goal tear in the playoffs was more that I hoped.
    3. Probably my defense.
    4. I don't know. I am nearing the border and have a decision to make. What happens in the drafts will help inform my decision.
    5. The locker room was fantastic. Everyone was supportive and encouraging.
    6. Nothing major. Just enjoy the comming summer.

Game six of the founder's cup semi finals ended in a 4-2 victory for the Mexico City Kings to clinch the series and secure their spot in the finals. San Diego, a team of mostly if not entirely free agents that they slowly gained throughout the season had almost convinced the hockey world that the ragtag  group of players could secure a cup without most of the roster playing even a full season. Players like Shubham Anand, Baby Moo Moo, and Fradin McGryer had made the strongest cases for their team throughout these playoff series.

Shubham Anand or "Scuba" as his teammates endear him had an offensive explosion in the post season. Picked up in the first week of the regular season, the India native had seven goals and five assists in just ten playoff games. With twelve points in the post season, this high speed forward will definitely be on the radar for teams in the coming draft and will absolutely be a steal for anyone looking for a high poise player come the same time next season.

The English winger Baby Moo Moo entered the league halfway through the Marlin's regular season and quickly introduced herself to the league as an electric playmaker. Showing high chemistry with Marlin's Captain Sjin and fantastic defensive responsibility, She became a staple for San Diego's top line alongside Shubham and Sjin. In ten playoff games the winger had five goals and ten assists for fifteen total points. With her still being a developing player who hasn't completed a full season yet, it is likely she will play another season in the VHLM and certainly will be a great compliment to any team looking to give their team that extra push towards the cup.

Fradin McGryer was thought to be a purely defensive defenseman coming into the post season. The Marlin's Alternate Captain was added to the team just days before the start of the regular season and made himself clear to be a physical presence teams had a hard time getting around. This was no different in the playoffs. The young defenseman had thirty-four hits and fourteen blocked shots in his ten playoff games. A point per game player in the post season, acquiring two goals and eight assists, also showed heightened responsibility in reducing his time in the box at ten penalty minutes total. The six-four Boston native intends on playing in the VHLE next season, and stayed after the game to offer a statement to the media.

"It's rough you know? Losing, losing at home in such an important game to us and the fans. I'm not going to nitpick at our game because I thought we played our style out there every night and gave the other guys our best. I think that's just a testament to how strong the competition is down here in the M and just how talented that Kings team is. They have a fantastic core put together and I'd especially like to highlight Alex (DeLuca) out there. He was the model of a two way defenseman out there and I genuinely hope to see him lift that cup because him and his team battled hard and certainly earned it in my eyes. Next season's going to be interesting for sure. I'll be taking this offseason to help my teammates get a handle on their plans for the future of their careers and being a team of mostly free agents, it's unlikely most of us will play together again. Gaut's (Olivier Gauthier) going to be the toughest change for me for sure. I wish him the best in the big show next season, he's a beauty to have in the locker room and undeniably talented on the ice. I'd like to take this time to thank the Marlin's organization for taking the chance on me. To thank my teammates for putting everything they had out there and working day in and day out with me. And especially would like to thank the fans of San Diego for coming out and supporting us every step of the way."

The Marlins organization now must move on to focusing on the draft. With their pair of first round draft picks they certainly have the potential to bring some of the core back and still be a competitive team next season. With Brad Marchand and Sjin planning to stick around in San Diego, their goal scoring will still be as steady as this season. Big questions will circle them around goaltending and defense with the departure of all the defensive core and their goaltender Olivier Gauthier, the Marlins may end up making some unorthodox picks high in the draft to cover their bases.

    1. Fantastic. A ragtag group of free agents and a star goaltender behind them. It was unfortunate we couldn't secure the cup but I can't help but feel pride in the community we built in the locker room.

    2. Fradin met expectations by my standards. Big hits, point production picked up in the playoffs, not afraid to drop mitts. That was my mission from the start of the season and I feel he met it.

    3. More hits! If you're gonna rack up the stat for it you might as well shoot for being the best at it. Maybe a little bit of offense as well.

    4. Fradin's headed up to Europe! Excited to get to the next level in the VHLE and get to know the people up there.

    5. Well I had to love being the guy who'd never close his mouth. But it was endearing to see people pop in every day/every other day just to check on each other and banter a bit. I enjoyed the guests from other teams and felt welcomed every time I popped in.

    6. Workin' and workin' some more. Work picks up in the summer so my days will get longer. Won't change me stopping in to talk to the Marlins!

Starting the Season Marlins only had 2 players on the roster @McGriddy10 who later became our AGM and none other than Goat @fonziGG as we didn't have many picks from selling our future assets for success in S86 and S87 where we were able to successfully win our first Founder's Cup for the franchise.

I then later returned to the squad from free agency. We were then able to add 3 more players to the roster through waivers who proved to extremely valuable assets as the season played out that included @Fradin99, @Will3 and @Marty B all doing fantastic jobs earning TPE as the season progressed. Fradin will now pass the VHLM without even being drafted and the same may also be true for Scuba showing how committed they both were to earning! Throughout the season we then added a couple more waiver claims including @Keegan Gamble, @Elvis and @Imthereforyou who were also integral to the success of the team, especially Keegan Gamble who was a great locker room guy. Additionally adding @CoolLuigiBro14 to our forward group rounding us off with 6 forwards. This team proved deadly where by the trade deadline we were sitting in close contention for the Prime Minister's cup with Mexico City Kings and Mississauga Hounds who were leaps and bounds ahead of the competition. We were able to make 2 more additions to after the trade deadline including @jhatty8 and @Moon who were also very important rounding out the regular season and going into the post season.

Whilst we unfortunately fell short this season unable to win any hardware losing to Mexico City King in game 6 and being eliminated from the post season. We need to acknowledge the great success this team has had despite it's humble beginnings at the start of the season everyone, even myself expected the team to be rebuilding but against all odds we put together a true cup contending team! So we have to thank @Arce and @McGriddy10 for their fantastic job in managing the team this season making some fantastic signings and keeping the team competitive when everyone else though it was impossible.

It was a truly incredible season the locker room was always electric and a great atmosphere to be a part of I'll be a shame to see all these fantastic team mates move on to different leagues and new teams, hopefully we're able to bring as many of them back as possible and keep this amazing atmosphere in San Diego! I look forward for what the future holds for the San Diego Marlins there's definitely a lot more to come from this team!

Juan Ceson has a very large house. Truthfully, he has many large houses but this article is just about one of them. It’s a very, very, very fine house and it has two cats in the garden. There is also something else very special in his garden. It is the most special thing Juan owns (apart from Ivan the Zampony, his yacht and many other things). You see, there’s a gnome at the bottom of his garden and its name is Twists. There’s a gnome at the bottom of his garden and all that it can do is stand there all night and stand there all day. The neighbours say it’s a terrible sight. There’s a gnome at the bottom of Juan’s garden and its name is Twists. Juan doesn’t care what his neighbours say because he loves his gnome Twists and will never get rid of him. He will, however, steal Twists hat and wear it so he looks even cooler than he normally does.

    1. I had faith from the start about us getting 3rd place and the Simon gods smiled down on us.
    2. I feel great about it. Davos is a good team, and it’ll be a tough series but I have faith in our squad.
    3. Prague has been scary all season and has been a thorn in our side. They’ll be tough to win 4 games against.
    4. I was honestly shocked they didn’t; I thought they were going to get the wildcard.
    5. I can’t express enough how thrilled I am that I finally was able to accomplish this with Lavelle. The fact Sogaard finished first in goals was just the cherry on top. Brandon deserves it.
    6. I picked Lavelle for the goal scoring title, not the scoring so I may not get as many as I want haha. If Moscow wins it all though, I’ll be swimming in gold.

Hey, this article won’t be long as I’m writing it on phone but I just wanted to say that everything went well and I’ve been doing way better for 2-3 weeks. With this being said, I know my activity didn’t come back at the same time and that’s just the result of being away for a while but I think it is now time for me to make an effort to come back. I am sure I’ll get hooked again but for now I do have to push myself a little.
