Lennox Moher: "I'm no all-star."
Will sit out S37 ASG; Chekhov moves in
DAVOS, SWITZERLAND -- Dynamo goaltender Lennox Moher is in the news again, and we're not sure what to make of it. The third-year goalie became the first ever VHL player to turn down an all-star game nomination, deferring to Evgeni Chekhov. We're not quite sure what to make of it, but it is most certainly odd.
"Evgeni was a better goalie this year," Moher said, "A better goalie on a worse team. You put him on Davos, and maybe the Dynamo win it this year."
Chekhov had a slightly better save percentage than Moher, while allowing more goals per game. Still, Moher requested to be removed from the game. "I just think I have to play better if I want to be recognized like that," he stated at after Team USA practice Wednesday, "I'm more motivated than I've ever been; I don't want to have another season like I did. I need to turn it around and give the United States a chance at winning gold."
