Questions 1. Does your player has a date for the valentines day or no? 2. If your birthday would be on 29th of February, when would you celebrate it? Once per 4 years, 28th Feb or 1st March? 3. What is the focus for the next season for you as a player?

One thing that always puts me off are these type of pieces where obviously it has a meaning and background story to it (which you kinda explained) or maybe it's some sort of an inside joke that some people will understand, but me, as a simply guy, I just look at the face value and get confused - is it genius piece or trash. This time I won't judge it in that way, so I will just give my commentary on the piece. I like the idea of wanting to combine various elements together, but I feel a better job could have been doen. To bee fair after seeing your last piece, I know for a fact that a better job could have been done as I've seen that you can do so much better. I might be talking out of my arse right now and maybe the quality and the style of the piece is meant to be like this. Maybe you think that the player doesn't deserve more time spent on a piece for him, I dont know haha. Obviously it is not a terrible job as you did spend your time to cut it all out and put it all together and even did a jersey swap. Overall im just confused haha! Rating: 6/10

Who said that simplicity cannot be good? I like works like these - simple, not too much, not too little, but the main thing is that the composition works well together. I think it is a false idea that in order for something to be good looking, you have to put hours and hours of photoshopping (not saying you didnt) and tens of tens of effects etc. For me it is always the composition and the look at the end. If you can make something good looking with 3 layers, I will take it. As for this piece, yet again, love the dual render idea of the player showcasing two sides of the person. Good job on the jersey swap, funnyt hat the t-shirt looks worse than the uniform haha. Maybe not a fan of the font as I think I've seen it being used before, but hey, dont fix what is not broken. Overall: 8/10

1. Do what the doctors tell you to do. Most likely - rest it! 2. Probably it has helped me with improving my English 3. Make sup cup of tea! QUESTIONS: 1. Hows your performance so far? 2. Do you set down some sort of a goal for the season or not? 3. When you started to play hockey, did you had the chance to use brand new equipment or did you got the one that is passed down from the older boys?

Not here to ruin anyone's mood, just here to give you my honest, subjective, review of the piece. Let me start that I really like the idea that you were going for, the icy, snowy effect on the player render is a nice touch, but unfortunately it feel like there is quite a lot of the snow and ice effect where it literally takes too much space. The text is okey, but yet again the icy effect kinda puts me off. i think the player render choice has been very good, just he overall execution isn't the greatest for my liking. Review: 6/10

Uu this is a nice piece. I wish I would have the original picture right next to this one so I could be able to tell easier what has been done, but no matter what, I love the looks of this piece. First of all it is a very nice render chosen as it gives a humble and graceful feel to the player. Love the smoky effect, gives you a great chill vibe. The choice of font for text is good as well, fits very well with the whole concept and look. I keep on looking at the piece and it literally gives me a vibe of a good smoke whisky (I know, very random thought). Rating: 9/10

1. Electric Callboy - SPACEMAN 2. Matt Avens 3. Be the #1 Rookie Questions: 1. Your player has a chance to be a quest on a TV game show. What TV game show would that be? 2. Would your player ever make a tribute song for himself about himself? 3. In what TV show would your player want to cameo?

What can I say - the card has been done very nicely. I like the simplistic card design as it does what it needs to be doing and is not too much. Very nice job on the render and the background, like that Sonic, speed design that is made on the card. One thing that I am not fan of and I think it could have easily been done better and would add more to the looks is the choice of font for the text. But at the same time I am supper impressed and just love the font used for the signature and it is an awesome signature. Rating: 7/10

I like the piece of work, or should I say piece of art, very much. I love the style in which it has been created as it gives you that artistic feel, especially the use of burshes to make the background and that it also goes over the render. The text font choice is very good, it fits the whole piece very nicely and gives you a professional feel to it. The team logo at the background is a nice touch to fill out the background and not have it too empty. Also the jersey swap is done very well! Rating: 8/10

Are you actually Latvian?

ANSWERS: 1. If we could add 2 more VHLM teams to the league, would you rather have 2 defunct teams be resurrected or see 2 brand new teams be created? - Two brand new teams, because it is always fun to have new locations and be able to build new history if you're part of that team. 2. If you could create a new VHLM from scratch, where would they be located and what would the team be called? - I would definitely want to make an European VHLM team as there is none, but we already have a Latvian team (Riga Reign) in the league, so I would go with Germany as they have no teams when in IIHF they quite good and name wise I would call them Berlin Bismarck's. 3. What is the top moment for your player this season so far? (shutout streak, hat tricks, fights? etc.) Funny enough I was just informed that apparently I just did a hattrick, so that is definitely highlight moment so far this season. QUESTIONS: 1. Is ice hockey now better after removing "Police" or Enforcers from the game? 2. What would a fan sign have to say for you to give them your stick without a question? 3. Lets say you would have to decide on an achievement after which you have to end your career, what would it be? It cannot be winning any of the championship cups.

I guess it bother me as a roleplayer, so I see this league as some sort of rp as well and when I see nice, rp ice hockey players with legit names, then the ones that I call dumb and an unrealistic for me breaks so called immersion. And technically names would fall under moderation as well, because if someone would name a player Hdolf Aitler then probably moderators would involve themselves and ask/make them change the players name.

We still allowing players to be named in dumb and unrealistic names? Like "Last Nights Dinner"?

ANSWERS: 1. What is your favourite VHL moment in your time in the league. So far, probably winning the cup in VHLM! 2. Plans for your player moving forward Stick with London, do my best and see how the team grows. 3. Personal plans for yourself in a career or personal move in the next year? Try to manage to do 1p per game. QUESTIONS: 1. Does your player aims to represent their country in international tournaments? 2. Now after some time has passed, what do you think abut VHLE being removed. Was it good or bad decision? 3. What was the last song you were jamming to in the car on the way to the hall?

Now this is a very, very nice looking card design. I've seen couple of other card designs and I have tried to do my own, but it always feels like a hustle to come up with a good looking card design, but you my friend have nailed it. I genuinely love it and could easily imagine this to actually be a design to be used for RL player cards. Lets start with the fact that these are signature series therefore it is not filled with stats or anything unnecessary. The white gradient that goes from the bottom to the top, covering players skates is an awesome way of blending the player with the card. It also allows you to add the teams logo in the background which is a nice touch as well. The font for the text is chosen nicely and is fitting for the purpose. This one definitely is cool piece! He’s not here to take part, he’s here to take over.

Uuu, okey, I feel ya. The title of the thread gives you a better understanding of this piece, the choice of the character which fits perfectly for the message. More or less well done one the jersey swap, the logo is done well, but as I've seen others going that extra mile and also changing out the NHL logo for VHL, in this picture I think that was very much doable, so would have liked to see that done for the full jersey swap. The gradient colour over the piece is nice, gives me like a flam-ish feel, like he's gonna go through fire to get to you. Last but not least is the text which I like the font, it looks nice and smooth, but the only thing is the cut off "g" which I dont fully understand - was it intentional or not. Overall rating: 7./10 -
ANSWERS 1. Do you have any expectations for your player this season and if so, how hard will they be to achieve? - I would like to see my player to be one of the main forces of the team point wise. My team is in rebuild, so should not be that hard. 2. How do you think your VHL/VHLM team will do this season and why? - Most likely we will be fighting to get wins and most of the time wont get any, but this is just the beginning of the road. 3. Do you have any New Years Resolutions? If so what are they? - I do not believe in new years resolutions, if you want to do something, just do it right now, why you have to wait for this mystical date in order to do something. QUESTIONS 1. When your team travels to "away" game, what is your way of killing time in the plane? 2. If you wanted to watch this brand new movie, but someone told me that the books are way better than the movie...would you still watch it or read the books? 3. Why do you think it is custom to pop-champagne on New Years instead of any other bottle?

Drosmis Sarkanis - The Rookie Experience
Mr Bohannan replied to Mr Bohannan's topic in Rookie Experience
One of the things, but there is a bigger clue when it comes to the whole build, not just one stat. -
Thank you my fellow Londoner @VattghernCZ for inspiring the format! FROZEN POND PODCAST Hello and welcome to FROZEN POND PODCAST where we try to give platform and talk about the new and young uprising stars from the FROZEN PONDs all over the country, before they step into the big rink. This time is no different and we have a special guest. A young and talanted forward from the small country, unknown to a lot of people, but yet a country with very strong and passionate ice hockey culture. Please welcome to our studio - DROSMIS SARKANIS! First off, congrats on being drafted 12th overall! How did it feel when you heard your name called by London United in Season 95 VHL Draft? Thank you for having me and boy, what can I say. It was such a relief and excitement running through my body. Usually the first picks know that they're going to be called, but I had no clue and that added to that experience! Can you tell us about your journey through the minors? What was the most challenging part about getting here? Well I was late for my seasons draft, so I was not drafted and got signed as a free agent by Saskatoon Wilds. I'm very grateful to the team and the management of the team because they really have been great to me and with them I managed to get my first cup. After that went to VHLE and played for the Eagles, almost won, but got eliminated in the finals and after that we all found out that VHLE is being scrapped. That was an interesting experience as I was unsure what to do next. I felt like I wasn't ready for the big league yet, so I decided to go back to the M and yet again I was picked up the Saskatoon. This time the team was already in a rebuild, so not a contestant, but close to the end of the season they traded me to Ottawa and I got the second chance to go for the cup. Unfortunately same as the previous season in E league, we got to the finals and got eliminated. I hope I don't have some finals curse that is going to follow me to London. London United has a pretty dedicated fanbase. Are you feeling any extra pressure stepping into this environment for your rookie season? I will say no, not really, because I believe that every team has a dedicated fanbase and you don't want to let down no one. We all humans and mistakes are made, so all we can do is to try and do our best to make our fans happy. Who were some of your biggest influences or idols growing up that inspired you to play hockey? It has always been our Latvian pioneers in the big foreign leagues. From the recent players that I look up to it's Bryce Woodworth @SirRupertBarnes. I know you might be surprised as there are so many other stars and Bryce might be an odd choice, but I have my reasons. What’s been the most surreal moment so far since being drafted to the VHL? I think it was the moment I found out about E being abolished. I've never experienced nothing like that and it made it surreal because it in a way destroyed all the plans how I imagined my career to go. Do you remember the first time you put on skates? What made you fall in love with hockey back then? I dont remember the very first time as I probably was like 2 or 3 years old, but I remember where it all started and funny enough it started on a Frozen Lake back home. My dad took me and my brother to the lake to skate and eventually play with stick and puck, every winter. A lot of players talk about adapting to the speed of the VHL. Do you think this will be a big adjustment for you? That is something Im going to work on because the players in VHL are no joke and you cannot afford to be behind them, otherwise you will end up just chasing the puck and players, never being able to actually have the possession. Your minor league stats were really solid. What part of your game are you most confident about heading into your rookie season? It is going to be a big jump and most likely it will take me couple of seasons to actually be able to compete par to par with the best in the league, but right now I'm confident in my offensive vision and defensive coverage. Those are the things Im going to rely on while slowly working on other skills. Is there a particular skill you’re working hard to improve before the season starts? As mentioned before - Speed. How do you think the London United coaching staff has helped you so far in your development? Oh the coaching staff in London is great, they are definitely people that know what they are doing and so far been a great help in assisting with identifying my weaknesses and things to work on. What’s it like knowing you’re playing for a team in such a major city? Are you excited about being in London, or is it intimidating? Well I can only compare my time in Saskatoon and Ottawa at the moment and coming from a small country, I am not really keen or used to yet to the busy city life, so I liked Saskatoon better than Ottawa. It will take some time to get used to London as this city cannot be compared to the other two, but that's part of the game and I'm not really thinking much about it right now. Have any of the veteran players on the team reached out to you to welcome you or give you advice? To welcome yes, but to give a specific advise - no. I think they yet have to see me play in the big league to give me any advice. On the flip side, what’s your first impression of the competition you’ll be facing in the VHL? Crazy! That's all I have to say - Crazy! Every player has rituals or habits before games. Do you have any unique pre-game routines or superstitions? Me personally not really and if there is anything I always do, then I'm not aware of it. I just follow whatever traditions and rituals the teams have as a group. It’s your rookie season, but do you already have specific goals for yourself—like points, assists, or even making an all-rookie team? All-rookie team would be great achievement, but we have some fierce class coming in, so will see. Point wise not really, as I always say that it would be nice to have 1point per game, but I dont see that happening in my rookie season. I just hope for a good overall performance by me and my team. We’ve all heard stories about rookie hazing or initiation traditions in sports. Are you nervous about anything like that? Wow, did not think about this and never heard London doing anything like that, but now when you asked I'm bit worried. Hahha If you weren’t playing hockey, what do you think you’d be doing instead? Oh, not sure, probably something like construction or something as I've always liked tinkering and fixing stuff. Not sure really... How do you handle pressure, especially knowing all eyes will be on you as one of London’s most anticipated rookies? Well I've been in playoffs three seasons in a row, so I think I can handle pressure quite good. I'm confident in my capabilities and I'm realist, I understand my limits and how far I can push them. Do you feel like being drafted 12th overall adds a chip on your shoulder to prove yourself, or does it just fuel your confidence? In a way I guess, but yet again, I'm cool with myself and I don't think much about it. Finally, what message would you want to share with London United fans as you prepare for your first season in the VHL? Last season was rough, we all know that and we all saw that, but don't worry, we backup is here and we will make sure we put London back on the map again! Well - Thank you Drosmis! - for coming to our little FROZEN POND and sitting down with us and answering our questions. To our listeners, we will be back next week with another rising star, so stay tuned! (Words: 1431)
