  1. Rigging is much more arduous than you think; when you sim you don’t even see individual statistics, you only see the final score; I’m not sure if we do live sims for the playoffs, but you can see what it looks like during those live sims. I’m my time in the league we’ve always had trustworthy simmers, so it’s not something you have to worry about.
  2. I would be against moving to FHM for the simple reason that it would basically render the entirety of VHL history useless.
  3. This. If the league eventually goes the way of giving people auto-12 TPE for doing nothing, I know I would lose interest. It would certainly increase activity/member retention, but it’s spitting in the face of people who have actually worked hard in the league for years and have been rewarded for their hard work. In my opinion, if we have auto-12 each week, point tasks would eventually fall away, and most league discussion would occur in the discord, which wouldn’t be ideal.
  4. This. And I also suggested that you PM the blue team asking for an exemption from the rule, did you do that? @Gooningitup
  5. Summers' Award to Lose? Erik Summers has been a key addition to Helsinki's offense HELSINKI, Finland - We are are nearly a quarter of the way through the S70 campaign, and there already appears to be a clear frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year Award: Helsinki defenseman Erik Summers. Summers, a S69 draftee, spent S69 playing for the VHLM's Mexico City Kings in an overage season, and boy did it do wonders for him. He didn't exactly light the world on fire with his S69 performance, but he has continued his steady play on the blueline into the S70 VHL season, and he currently leads all rookies with 11 points in 15 games. Helsinki currently is just barely outside of a playoff spot, and if they want to get into the postseason this year they'll need Summers to keep up his stellar play. He has a 4-point lead over the next highest scoring rookie, Chad Magnum, so at this point it appears that RoTY is Summers' to lose. Barring any other rookies going on a tear at some point during the season, there really only appears to be four other candidates at the moment who could possibly unseat the German-born defender; Toronto's Chad Magnum (2-5-7), Davos' Milos Slavik (1-5-6), and Calgary's Ondrej Ohradka (2-4-6) & Kris Rice (3-3-6).

    SEA/DAV; S70

I don’t think they’re getting blasted, I don’t think this is a terrible deal value-wise, I just don’t think it’s the right move for Davos at the moment; there’s always a risk with people going inactive, but I’m betting that Toronto’s 1st this season (1-4 overall) is less likely to be inactive than the 2nd rounder and NYA’s 1st in two seasons, which likely won’t be a lottery pick (but who knows)z

*removes Shawn because he kept delaying rebuild* *davos continues to delay rebuild* In all seriousness I get trying to get more picks in an era where 2nds have much more value than they used to, but in order to help Davos a reputable place to play again, you need star players/members, and those usually are not available in the 2nd round. I get that you’re also getting NYA’s 1st in 72, but the rebuild really needs to stop being delayed. I think Seattle wins this trade.

  10. I believe going forward the HOF committee should look at at players % if goals scored during their era as opposed to their end-game totals.
  11. I just finished it this week, I had only sent the link to Will so that he could update the portal.

  13. You’ve certainly put time into the league, but you’ve also been in the league forever. And by “time”, I mean doing media spot/holding league jobs, etc. You’ve held a bunch of positions, which makes it kind of surprising to me that you haven’t had two players reach 700 TPE, but that’s what the rule is. If the pension plan was based on “positions held in the league”, it would alienate members too, it’s just that the BoG chose to go the TPE route.
  14. Have you tried asking for an exemption based on the last player then?
  15. I have no idea what’s going on with your lineup situation, but have you really “put time into the league” if you haven’t had a player(s) above 700 TPE?
  16. 1. Toronto's first week of play has concluded. We're 4-5-0 with 8 points, which to me is pretty awesome. Is the team over performing, under performing or performing as expected compared to your expectations before the season started? I think we're right about where I expected us to be, tbh. A lot of people had written us off before the season even started, but I think we're a young team that's improving every game for the most part.2. Our rookie, Chad Magnum, has five points in his nine VHL games. He is currently tied for second in rookie positioning, do you think he'll rise above Summers for the number one spot? I sure hope he does, it's going to be tough though, since Summers has way more TPE than I do. 3. Toronto's had a rough schedule against Vancouver (four of our five losses so far are against them). Do you think our record would be better than 4-5-0 if it were against a more diverse schedule? I can't really say; I think each team matches up against the other teams differently, and so far it just seems like Vancouver has our number.4. Toronto - at the moment - is tied with the D.C Dragons for the final playoff position in the NA conference, both firmly above Seattle's terrible 1-6-2 record so far. Do you think this is just a fluke, or do you think this'll extend into the season? Seattle is certainly slumping right now, and I think they'll eventually turn it around. Maybe not immediately, but by the deadline I expect them to be back in the playoff hunt.5. The HC Davos Dynamo (3-3-4) - like Toronto - have been surprising people early. Like above... do you think that this is just 'STHS being STHS' or do you believe there is some other reason for it? Maybe a little bit of both? There's more parity than ever in the VHL now, and I think this run by Davos might be a perfect example of that.6. Nethila Dissanayake's 10 points is leading the team through Toronto's 9 games. Is this any surprise, or did you expect another player to be atop the Legion's roster? If so... who? I wouldn't say I'm surprised, as Nethila has a good build, and has been a bit of a feel-good story for the team this season. I expect Nethila to still be leading the team in points by seasons end.

  22. i did not look for any other possible candidates because I simply did not care
  23. Rookie Experience Expectations: I'm not really sure what to expect for my rookie season; a lot about the VHL has changed since I last had a rookie play in the VHL. I guess my most recent rookie experience would technically be Boner, but I wasn't really active at that point anymore, so I would consider Rudolph Schmeckeldorf to be my truer most recent rookie experience, and boy, what a shit show that was. Schmeckeldorf wasn't a crazy TPE whore, but he wasn't a welfare player either, and yet the sim absolutely SHAT on his during his rookie season. I remember I started the season with around 250 TPE and ended with 325 or something, but only managed to score a measly 9 points in that season. NINE!!! It was especially frustrating as Schmeckeldorf, who would end up being my most productive player, missed a few statistical milestones because of that season. I can't complain too much though, as he would end up with 4 Continental cups to his name, making the postseason every year of his career as well. If I had similar metrics with Magnum, I'd consider myself satisfied. Sadly, I do feel that a horrible rookie season will fall upon Magnum. He's almost the antithesis of Schmeckeldorf, yet he has similar production so far in his career; Schmeckeldorf was a pure passer, I didn't put any TPE into scoring or physical attributes until much later on, while Magnum is the pure scorer/brusier, with no points applied to any finesse or skill attributes. Reservations: To say I'm not nervous about Magnum's career is an understatement; I genuinely enjoy having "method" or "storyline" VHL players who actually have limitations and aren't just a typical two-way defenseman or scoring forward. I like the idea of having a player who has faults in areas but excels in others, just like real life. The only issue with this though, is that if it doesn't seem to be working, then it can become boring real fast, hence why I eventually gave in with Schmeckeldorf and started adding points to Scoring a few seasons down the line; I just got tired of him not really doing much. With Magnum, I really want him to be a brusier who can score 40 goals a season, but I'm worried about how that might work out. The VHL nowadays appears to be much more about line chemistry as opposed to just TPE-whoring, and if I can't find chemistry early on in Magnum's career, I may find myself adding TPE to other areas just like I did with Schmeckeldorf.
