  1. Westwood Traded to Philly 4/28/23 As the VHLM approached the trade deadline, the Las Vegas Aces were active in shipping out some of their key offensive pieces. The biggest deal was with the Philadelphia Reapers where Las Vegas traded forwards Dank Turtle and Zyn Westwood in exchange for a handful of future draft picks. Las Vegas was having a very mediocre season and found themselves outside of the playoff picture as the trade deadline approached. Westwood, a first year VHLM player, was starting to find his stride offensively recently after a very slow start to his career. In 41 games with the Aces, he potted 12 goals and added 14 assists for 26 points while also posting 143 shots on goals. We caught up with Westwood after the trade broke:
  2. First presser as a reaper.. 1. Doing well! Getting acclimated to the new squad 2. Yes, was at the NJD/NYR game last night and it was electric. Devs in 6 3. Being one of those new additions, so far so good. I need to get in the discord, but already have been welcomed by the GM 4. It's a tight race, every game matters. We made some big additions at the deadline so we're gearing up for a push here. 5. Gretzky, Howe, Bossy, Orr, Bourque, Hasek 6. Never was huge into arcade games, but I always found myself playing skee ball when I was at the arcade as a kid
  3. 1. All we can do is continue to put our heads down and work hard in practice. We're a young team and I think consistency will come later in the season. 2. Not the greatest, definitely started out very slow with 1 point in my first 10 games, but slowly starting to produce more lately. 3. The go to pregame meal for me is a big bowl of pasta 4. I'm going to guess 40 points 5. Juan has been a leader for our team on and off the ice, a true pleasure to learn from a player like him 6. I would meet Connor McDavid because he is the greatest hockey player to ever play the game
  4. 4/17/23 The Las Vegas Aces are just about through a quarter of S88 and they find themselves near the bottom of the Western Conference with a middling record of 10-9-3. Despite being in second to last place in the conference, the team only sits 6 points behind the first place Mexico City Kings, so there is an opportunity to make up some significant ground in the early season playoff picture. First year forward and S89 draft prospect Zyn Westwood has had a humbling start to his VHLM career. The former all-American college hockey player had 1 goal and 1 assists through his first 10 VHLM games and has since totaled 4 goals and 4 assists in his 18 total games. While these aren’t the most impressive personal stats, Westwood feels like he is turning a corner.
  5. I'm allergic to points
  6. Biography: Zyn Westwood, RW Early Life Zyn Westwood was born in Monte Carlo, Monaco shortly after his parents moved there for work related reasons. The Westwood family was a hardworking and humble bunch. Three older brothers would provide Zyn with a lot of competitive juices growing up whether that be at home, in the classroom or on the playing field. Zyn was into many sports growing up including tennis, golf and soccer. His hometown in Monaco, not exactly the hockey hot bed of the world, did not have a hockey rink within 100 miles. It was not until he was in middle school when he first discovered the sport while watching highlights of VHL stars on YouTube. It was shortly thereafter that he asked his parents to drive him to that far away hockey rink and he bought his first pair of ice hockey skates. That day, he skated all day and night. He immediately fell in love with the game of hockey. Lucky for Zyn, his parents had plans to move back to the United States once he was old enough to enroll in high School. High School The family moved back to the United States in Minnesota the summer before Zyn was slated to begin his freshman year in high school. At this point, he had been improving steadily with his ice skating and hockey skills but still had not played any sort of competitive hockey game. Despite this, he decided to try out for the freshman hockey team where he would be one of the final cuts. This gave Zyn all the motivation he needed. He spent the entire next year at the ice rink every day after school working on his game. He took a part time job on the weekends to pay for his new equipment and hockey lessons and was ready to roll for sophomore year tryouts. All the work paid off for young Zyn as he was able to make the Junior Varsity hockey team his sophomore season. He played Top 6 minutes on offense this season and scored 12 goals in 20 regular season games. This was good enough for second on the team in goals He continued his hard offseason work with a goal set out to make the Varsity team as a junior. He followed the same offseason workout and training regimen as the previous year and the hard work paid off again. Not only did he make Varsity, but he was quoted as being one of the best players on the ice during tryouts by the head coach. The stage was set for a big jump in his hockey development. His junior year was a monster one: on 20 games played he scored 33 goals and added 29 assists for the team lead in points and a first team all-state forward. Zyn continued his impressive play as the captain of the team his senior season posting 45 goals which is a state record. The team went on to win the state championship and Westwood became one of the top hockey recruits in the country. College Fielding offers from many of the big-name schools such as Michigan, Quinnipiac and Providence, Zyn made the decision to accept an offer to play hockey in his home state at the University of Minnesota. A dream come true for the Westwood family. As one of the nation’s top recruits, the Gophers wasted little time getting him into some legit game action. He played most of his freshman season on the third line offensive unit with some powerplay time. In 35 games played, Westwood potted 9 goals and added 12 assists. While not gaudy, these were respectable numbers for a true freshman stepping into NCAA hockey for the first time. Throughout his next two years he continued to progress and pad the stat lines. He combined for 45 goals over these two seasons and totaled well over 100 points. He finished his junior year as a first team all-American and had garnered some legit interest from professional leagues around the world. It was a big decision for Zyn and his family, does he stay in college for another year to finish out his eligibility or accept an offer to play professionally? VHLM After long conversations with family and mentors, Zyn made the decision to forego his senior season at the University of Minnesota and accept an offer to join the Las Vegas Aces of the VHLM. He signed a 1 year deal worth $1,500,000 on April 7, 2023. Zyn Westwood will be eligible for the S89 VHL Entry Draft, where his dream will be one step closer to coming true. Word Count: 865
  7. In his 6th game of the season, first year VHLM player Zyn Weswtood finally potted his first goal of his career. It came in the second period against the San Diego Marlins assisted by Leo Lewkowicz and Dank Turtle. His first few games found himself on the teams 3rd line but over the past two games, the coach trusted him enough to promote him to the first line right wing position. This is a spot he will look to hold on to for the remainder of the season. We caught up with Westwood briefly after his first goal: 158 words
  8. 1. Not so far, but I am still getting my player up to speed here. With 1 goal in 6 games played, theres a lot to work on! 2. We're doing pretty well so far, on a little bit of a winning streak and starting to find our groove. If we continue to practice hard and put in the work I think we'll inch up the standings even more 3. Yesterday's sims were 2 Ws for the boys so we gotta take that momentum into the upcoming games 4. Yes I think we do. We have a lot of good players that continue to get better. By the end of the season we will be a different team than what we are now 5. Hopefully just continue to improve game by game, earn as much TPE as I can and prove myself as a legit top line scorer in the VHLM for the Aces. 6. It means we have another player that can help us win games.
  9. First VHLM goal, lets get lit!
  10. #improvement...not sure which one I like better
  11. 1. I entered the VHLM just after the draft, so I was a free agent signing here in Vegas. I think we have some good pieces in place here to compete for a deep playoff run. 2. As mentioned above, I wasn't drafted but I am satisfied with Vegas as my landing spot. 3. My expectations are fairly low for this season. Currently playing third line and just getting up to speed. I dont expect a big production year but I am hoping the team does big things! 4. Let's go with Ronald Johnson McWallace, I dont know anyone on the team yet so we'll go with the player with the most interesting name. 5. Not the hottest start, we're currently sitting at 2-4-2 through our first 8 games so we do have a lot of work to do. Giving up 30 goals in 8 games is not ideal so we have a lot of work to do on the backend. Once that gets shored up, we'll be in a good spot. 6. Vegas baby
  12. Zyn Westwood Off to Slow Start Words: 190 Over the weekend, University of Michigan standout Zyn Westwood finished his collegiate career and signed with the Las Vegas Aces of the VHLM. His decision came down to a few teams but Westwood felt like his fit with Las Vegas made the most sense and would yield the most playing time to develop his game. Westwood has since played in 4 VHLM games with the Aces and his production has been very slow out of the gate. In these four games, he has 0 goals and 0 assists but has contributed 10 hits and 10 shots on goal. Playing exclusively on the third line, Westwood clearly will need to work his way up the ranks in the Aces organization. Here is what he had to say after his first VHLM games:
  13. Zyn Westwood's first four games in the VHLM have not been all rainbows and butterflies. Through 4 games, Westwood has 0 points but has been contributing physically with 10 hits (average of 2 hits per game). Westwood is anxiously awaiting his first point in the VHLM with the Las Vegas Aces

  15. 1. The playoffs were quite an experience, it's a different pace of play out there as compared to the regular season. It was very fun 6. I tried not to change any routines or make it bigger than it is. I wanted to treat it like another game for me. 7. I always would like to be able to produce more offensively, so I would say that. 8. We got pretty solid goaltending and defense so I'd tip my cap to those guys 9. Favorite memory I'd say is just being traded, getting a change of scenery and trying to gel with the new squad 10. Hard working, team first player
  16. 1. I was in the car driving to get food before practice when all the news broke 2. They were good trades, I think. Partially because I was part of one of them. We'll see if they can make an impact in playoffs. 5. We are starting to come together a bit as of late, I think it will take a little time with the new players in the lineup but we hope to find our stride come playoff time. 7. Shotgun a bud light and light up a cigar 8. The same process as above 9. Hopefully make an impact in the playoffs, something I have not done in my short career so far
