  1. It has been just about a week since the Vancouver Wolves acquired center Aston Martin from the Davos Dynamo in exchange for Gritty and a draft pick. The former 4th overall pick in the S67 Entry Draft is beginning to find his groove in Vancouver and getting more and more comfortable each game. Vancouver media finally was able to catch up with Martin to get his thoughts on the trade and his new home in Vancouver. "It was initially quite a shock when I heard I was traded by Davos. I never had any indication that my name was being thrown around in trade offers, but I understand it is the nature of the business. Once the shock kind of wore down, I was instantly very excited to play for the defending VHL champions. Obviously playing against them over the past two seasons, I was aware of how skilled they are and how tough they are to play against. The boys made me feel very welcome from the beginning and it was easy to get acclimated to the group. I'm excited for this next chapter in my VHL career with the Wolves." Martin has played 13 games for the Wolves since the trade and has posted 3 goals and 5 assists. The Wolves also shifted Martin from his natural center position to left wing on a line with Michael Gary Scott and Dil Starload and it appears to be paying early dividends as his offensive production has seen a spike since the trade.
  2. 1. What was your first memory of hockey? Having my father lace up my skates before games 2. Who was your favorite player in the NHL growing up? Patrik Elias 3. Who do you look up in the VHL? Jake Davis 8. What VHLM teammate do you miss the most? Pekka Pouta 9. Why do you miss this old teammate? Because I used to score on him easily in practice and it really got my confidence up 10. Which teammate you currently have pushes you to be the best player you can be? Considering this is my first day in the organization, I cant answer this question just yet.
  3. BREAKING: Vancouver and Davos Strike Deal 10-02-19 This morning the Vancouver Wolves and HC Davos Dynamo finalized a trade that sent center Aston Martin to Vancouver in exchange for center Gritty. The deal came as a shock to a lot of people around the league, but it is one that seemingly makes sense for both sides. The Davos Dynamo have been building a true contending roster over the past couple seasons and that building is starting to come to fruition in S68 as they appear to be headed for a playoff birth with a mid-season record of 21-14-4. For Davos, the trade is one that helps bolster their scoring depth at center behind John Madden and hopefully the veteran addition of Gritty will provide a much needed jolt to the Dynamo's second line. General Manager Shawn Glade has made it very clear that he wants a cup, so this move will help accelerate that process. The Vancouver Wolves, the defending cup champions, also appear to be destined for another playoff birth with a mid-season record of 22-15-3. The trade for Vancouver makes sense as they are able to get back a forward who is two years younger than the one they traded, but also not sacrificing a massive drop off in offensive capabilities. Here are the player profiles of the two main pieces in this trade: Aston Martin - Center Martin was the former 4th overall pick in the Season 67 VHL Entry Draft after having a 100-point season with the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM. Martin made the Davos roster immediately after being drafted, but has struggled to produce offensively at a high clip in the VHL. He had 15 goals and 23 assists his rookie year in S67 and currently has a disappointing 7 goals and 9 assists through 40 games in S68 while playing on the teams second line with Katie Warren and Bjorn Scoringsson. While his role with the Wolves remains to be seen, a change of scenery may be a good thing for the second year forward. There is still a lot of untapped offensive potential, but it just wasn't showing in his first two seasons in Davos. Martin had a brief media availability after the deal was announced and had nothing but good things to say about his time in Davos. He understands the business side of the game and looks forward to his next opportunity in Vancouver. Gritty - Center/Wing Coincidentally, Gritty was also a former 4th overall pick in the Season 65 VHL Entry Draft and also a former member of the Ottawa Lynx of the VHLM. Gritty played four seasons in Vancouver while putting up 134 points in 256 games played. Prior to the trade, Gritty was pacing to have his best offensive season in his career in S68 with 34 points in 40 games played and will certainly need to bring that production over to Davos to help them make a strong push towards the playoffs. His expected role on Davos is to take Aston Martin's former spot and slot in as the second line center in between Katie Warren and Bjorn Scoringsson. Gritty appeared to be blindsided by the trade and was one of the more liked guys in the Wolves locker room, but is ready for his next chapter in Davos. Analysis In my opinion, there is no clear winner to this trade as you could argue both sides well. The Wolves get younger without a large skill gap and the Dynamo get an improvement on their second line which is something they have been looking for all season. I think this trade will work out well for both sides, but only time will tell.

  6. VHL.com September 11, 2019 Davos Welcomes Samuel Ross as 1st Round Selection @Brrbisbrr After trading out of the 4th overall pick in the S68 Entry Draft and moving back to pick #10, the Davos Dynamo selected goaltender Samuel Ross from the S67 VHLM Champion Ottawa Lynx. The pick surprised some experts around the league when General Manager Shawn Glade announced Ross as the selection, but Davos is getting themselves a potential franchise goaltender here at the end of the first round. Ross played 24 games for Ottawa and registered an impressive 20 wins and a 2.11 goals against average, while splitting starts with fellow first round pick Raymond Bernard. Ross is not expected to come in and be the savior of the franchise right from the get go. The team has a seasoned veteran and one of the top goaltenders in the league in Finn Davison between the pipes. However, this is a smart long-term move for Davos as they hope to have found a potential starting goalie when Davison eventually moves on. Davos previously experimented with the likes of Pekka Pouta and Wrike Chyrnoble to be the heir apparent to Davison, but when both goalies were shipped off to Vancouver in a trade, it was obvious Davos would consider a goalie early in this draft. Ross is a very technically sound goaltender with his positioning and hockey IQ being his biggest strengths. He also has a baseball background, which provided him with a quik and reactive glove hand that caught the eye of many scouts across the VHL. The one knock on Ross is his size. At 5'10 and 183 pounds he definitely gives up some size to the other goaltenders in the league, but his positioning and athletic ability has compensated for this lack of ideal goaltending size. Overall, Davos is very happy to land Samuel Ross in this draft and everyone is expecting this move to pay dividends down the road.
  7. Stealing these questions, cheers: 1. I wasnt drafted by DC, although I am a fan of the location/branding. I didnt see any questions in the Davos press conferences so I stopped by here! 2. Probably New York because of their four first round picks. It was kind of like Seattle in 67 3. I think Kaspars Claude in the second round at 14th overall will prove to be a great pick 4. Soren Jensen or Benny Graves appear to be the favorites right now, the class looks strong. 5. It's a bit early to say, there are definitely some top end talents available right now. We'll see more players declare as well. I think it has a chance to be better 6. Luciano Valentino is my pick for future captain, dude looks like he is bound to be a stud Thanks
  8. DC Dragons colors have to be red/white/blue come on!
  9. The Davos Dynamo are officially contenders for the Season 68 VHL campaign after a string of moves from their GM over the past two days. Executive management was not pleased with how last season went and they made a commitment to the team and fans to bring in more talent and build a strong team to contend for the Cup. The team did a great job accumulating draft capital over the past few seasons while still remaining competitive and ultimately was able to convert those picks into veteran talent. Here are the moves: Trade #1 Acquired: Shawn Glade (D), S68 VAN 1st Traded: S69 TOR 1st, S70 DAV 1st The first move was to re-acquire veteran defenseman Shawn Glade from the cup champion Vancouver Wolves. The S62 Draft pick had 70 points for the Wolves in the regular season and will likely slot in on Davos' top pairing next season. It's unclear how many seasons he has, if any, beyond this upcoming one but adding one of the top tier defensemen in the VHL is always a strong move. Trade #2 Acquired: Elasmobranch Fish (D), S68 CAL 3rd Traded: S68 RIG 1st, S69 MAL 1st and Brandon LeBlanc (D) The commitment to bolster the defense continued as Davos landed S65 defenseman Elasmobranch Fish from Calgary. The former 6th overall pick has been a consistent 50-60 point defenseman for Calgary and will add some much needed firepower and size to Davos' defense. The return was hefty, inclusive of 2 first rounders and one of Davos more promising prospects. But the time to win is now for Davos. Trade #3 Acquired: Rights to Matt Thompson (F) Traded: S69 NYA 2nd The last of the big three trades was one to acquire the rights to Matt Thompson; one of the most prolific goal scorers over the past six seasons in the VHL. Thompson is a pending UFA and Davos is currently in communication with his camp to try to strike a deal. He may sign, he may not; but this was a good risk to take for Davos to add the final piece to their offense. --------------------------- Consolidated Movement Acquired: Rights to Matt Thompson (F), Elasmobranch Fish (D), Shawn Glade (D), S68 VAN 1st, S68 CAL 3rd Traded: S69 NYA 2nd, S69 TOR 1st, S70 DAV 1st, S68 RIG 1st, S69 MAL 1st and Brandon LeBlanc (D) Davos is locked and loaded.
  10. 1. I feel great, our GM definitely made a statement and brought in a ton of new talent. We are primed for a big push in S68 2. I think I like our chances honestly, if we can sign Thompson 3. Madden could have a monster breakout year 4. I think one of the Big 3 defensemen would be great to have to build around in the future, also wouldnt mind picking up Lehtinen Jr. 5. Some sort of chips and dip 6. Mint Chocolate Chip
  11. Davos to Pick 4th Overall August 31, 2019 This week the S68 draft lottery was held and the Davos Dynamo's draft position was solidified as the #4 overall pick for the second consecutive year. Last year, the team selected Aston Martin with their pick, who appears to be on a solid career trajectory. The S68 draft class is very heavy in defensive talent, which is just what Davos wants to hear as they are expected to lose or move on from some of their veteran defensemen. The darling of the class is Condor Adrienne, who is a strong two-way defensemen with VHL size. If the Dynamo can't land Adrienne, there are still quite a few options to choose from including Lance Flowers, Jeff Downey, Wolf Stansson Jr or Luciano Valentino; all of which are strong options. Davos is set up well to grab a top flight defenseman, if they decide to focus on the backend, and continue to build a crop of young talent as they look to become a powerhouse in the VHL.
