When Tyson Kohler hits the open market tomorrow, he will most likely buy groceries and various other things for his fridge. When he hits the open market of VHL free agency he will probably look for totally different criteria in his selection process. We approached Tyson on his wishes leading into a new deal with a possible new destination and who are the front runners thus far.
"Well let's start off by allowing me to state that I have only ruled out two organizations and one is obvious the New York Americans who will need a ton of roster shuffling to even come close to competing in the next two years. The other is Davos, as my agent and I have strictly just been on the same page when it comes to location. No offence to anyone there or their GM, just the location itself has ran dry with my agents history. I'm seeking a one year deal because I'm not intending to be tied down to a squad that could flip on a dime and go in an opposite direction. I obviously will only accept a NTC clause and I think I am deserving of one at this stage. I will sign for league minimum (under the salary cap rules of course) and would love to be given the chance to see if the said team signs someone else. If I sign to a team that is contending but needs more than just myself, I won't sign right away to have that other player sign as well. Things have to be mutual in that regard. I am also looking for a place that has a shot through their net minder and not a team that runs off the "Mike Swatkowski school of 300 TPE goaltenders" thought process. I've done my homework and will review every offer towards me as well as my relationship with the GM himself, the players on the team and their habits (good or bad) and the players themselves on how they conduct themselves. I wish every team a happy free agency and I look to see at least one offer on the table", said Kohler laughing.
